It should come as no surprise that the Duggar family is worth a lot of money . But what many fans may not realize is that not all of the Duggar fortune comes from their reality TV empire. After all, television audiences are fickle, and future success can be hard to predict. Jim Bob is well aware of this, and since it's part of his belief system that God favors the wealthy, the Duggar patriarch is doing everything he can to stay in his creator's good graces by keeping his pockets fat — by whatever means necessary: 1. Somehow Kailyn Lowry has turn into one of the most controversial cast members, if not the most controversial entirely. It's been pretty wild to watch, honestly. The past year has not been particularly kind to Jill Duggar. It all started back in November of 2017, when Derick Dillard was fired from Counting On . Jill quit the show as a gesture of solidarity, which unfortunately left the couple with two kids to raise and no source of income. One would think that after such a precipitous fall from grace, Derick would be forever on his best behavior, but thus far that hasn’t been the case. These days, Derick is in law school and taking steps toward once again supporting his wife and kids, but the months since his termination have been tumultuous for reasons that go far beyond financial instability. Derick has been accused of cheating on Jill, and the fact that neither party has addressed those rumors has only added to the public scrutiny of their relationship. Earlier this week, Jill posted the photo below, which shows her reading a self-help book entitled Boundaries by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend. “Reading a little during bath time. lol #momlife #orangebathwater #boundariesbook,” Jill captioned the pic. As In Touch Weekly points out, many of Jill’s followers commented that they had also enjoyed the book and found it especially helpful for mending fractured relationships. “Very good for dealing with toxic family members or friends!” wrote one such fan. Others noted that Jill could very much benefit from the lessons about independence, and Derick often seems to treat her as his doormat, even going so far as to make Jill attend his law school lectures to assist in taking notes. “A great time to say ‘no’ is going to your husband’s school. That is a good boundary to work on, Jill,” commented one follower . “Her father controlled her life until she married her husband,” added another fan. “She NEEDS to read this book.” As many others pointed out, this is not the first time that Jill has used her Instagram page and her choice of reading materials to throw subtle shade at her controversial husband. Jill recently posted a photo of her Bible, in which the section about adultery has been highlighted in its entirety. Like we said, neither Jill or Derick has confirmed or denied that Derick was busted cheating recently — and in all likelihood, they never will. Attention, men around the world! You may want to scoot a little closer to the computer screen for this announcement. Are you ready for it? Are you certain? Okay, here it goes… You may be able to marry Angelina Jolie! We can’t make any guarantees, of course. That would be ridiculous. But an insider tells Heat Magazine that Jolie is sick and tired of being single and she’s prepared to do something about it. “Right now, Ange’s looking at potential suitors who have been suggested by her business team,” a source tells this random publication, adding; “She’s also putting the word out in high-powered circles.” Okay, fair enough. Perhaps we ought to amend our opening sentence to read: Attention, rich and famous men around the world… you may be able to marry Angelina Jolie! As you very likely know by now, Jolie and Brad Pitt filed for divorce in September of 2016. To this day, it seems hard to believe, despite all the bad blood that apparently exists between the stars and all the mean things that have been said back and forth between them in the press. In mid-August, Jolie was ordered to green light more time for Pitt and the ex-couple’s six children, leaving her bitter and allegedly angry over the whole situation. Is that why Jolie is now looking to move on once and for all? We don’t know. However, Heat Magazine write the following: “Flying solo was beneficial for a while. “Ange needed to heal after the breakup with Brad – but it’s been long enough and her self-imposed exile from men is over.” It continues: “She knows a lot of people in the industry who are as good at matchmaking as they are at producing films.” It’s been rumored, meanwhile, that Pitt has found romance again, either with some woman named Neri Oxman or with Jennifer Aniston. And this source claims that “seeing Brad move on has put a fire under [Angelina]” to go out and do the same. If she really is on the market, it’s hard to think of any woman who would be more sought after than Angelina Jolie. What sort of man is she hoping to find? “She hasn’t felt a real spark in ages and she misses it,” the source concludes. “She’d like someone who can match her intellect, but most importantly, she needs a physical connection.” Ah, okay. Source: FOX / Getty Tonight’s episode of Empire starts off on a high note. Andre is out of jail! But it all starts going downhill again after that. Kingsley is back visiting Diana in prison in the name of revenge. Diana ain’t no fool, so she calls Kingsley out over the fact that he’s only doing this because his ego is bruised. He already has Empire, which puts him on top, but he’s obviously mad that Lucious embarrassed him so he wants to get even. She’s down to tell him Lucious’ Achilles Heel, but he needs to do a favor for her first. There’s a moisturizing cream she’s been dying to get her hands on and…you get where this is going right? Times is hard in the bing. The Lyon Clan is back to business as usual. Now that Andre is back around he wants to get involved with some of Lucious’ more illegal activities, like collecting debts from various people, street style. Lucious refuses to allow Dre to accompany him because he’s determined to keep all Lyons, especially Dre, out of prison from now on. But Dre is hardheaded and has his own plans. He wants to be a gangsta. No, he is going to be a gangsta like his pops. Lordt. He has been institutionalized. Cookie and Porsha find a talented singer named Devon (played by Mario), but unfortunately, Empire found him too. Becky got to him first. Cookie tells him not to sign with Empire until he sees what she can do for him first and he gives her his word. Empire pulls out all the stops and gives him the royal treatment, of course, but he’s not feeling that they want to turn him into a sex symbol with money, cars, and hoes. Kingsley literally said that. So, he decides to see what Cookie has to offer after all and actually likes the Lyon Clan better. However, he wants to run things by his sister first before signing the contract. Later on, Cookie goes to Devon’s house to find him and to get their business squared away, but she finds his sister instead. Said sister is severely disabled and mentions that it’s just she and Devon since their parents died. She also mentions that Devon works a lot of jobs to support them since she can’t work and that she feels awful about it. It also comes out that Devon wants to sign with Empire but Cookie gets so disturbed by this that she dashes out and decides not to leave the contract. Later on, Cookie tells Becky to sign Devon because she and Lucious can’t give him what he needs (money) right now. She just asks that Becky gets Devon’s contract signed asap and that she sees to it that Empire takes care of him. But guess what? Devon returns to Cookie and says he and his sister felt more comfortable signing with them. Lucious is so appreciative that he gives him a couple of racks on the spot. Look at Lucious doing something good with that blood money. Earlier in the episode, we learned that Kai, Jamal’s boyfriend, went missing in Nigeria. As the episode winds down we find ourselves here. This is the part when Lucious and Cookie inform Jamal that authorities found Kai’s wallet and cell phone on the side of the road. It’s past 48 hours since Kai went missing, which obviously isn’t good. Jamal breaks down crying and Cookie comforts him but there’s nothing else they can do at the moment. Giselle learns from a private investigator that Kingsley has been visiting Diana in jail. Giselle is trying to take Kingsley’s spot at Empire and keep the Lyon Family in check as we know. So, she steps to Diana, who already knows why she’s there, and Diana is with the games. Diana says, “It’s time for them to know what it feels like to put one of your own in the ground.” Then we cut five months later and we see Lucious stumbling around with a blood stain on his side. It looks like he may have been shot and if that’s not his blood, it’s a lot of blood either way. Why commemorate on October 17th ? According to sources, Jupiter Hammon, the first published black poet in the United States, was born in Long Island, New York, on October 17, 1711. In honor of Hammon’s birth, we celebrate the contributions of all African Americans to the world of poetry. Although he was a slave, Hammon was purportedly allowed access to the manor library and was educated with the estate owner’s children, even working with Henry Lloyd in his business ventures. But he was far from being the only former slave to have a notable writing career. Phyllis Wheatley was also an African slave — however, as her works spread throughout town, she became the abolitionists’ illustrative testimony that blacks could be both artistic and intellectual. Her name was a household word among literate colonists and her achievements a catalyst for the fledgling antislavery movement. Poetry has certainly transformed over the years, especially with the rise of social media and the impact Hip Hop now has on the mainstream. Most people don’t realize that Hip Hop is a form of poetry with a sick beat behind it. Just ask rap’s go-to poet, Wale . The DC native once said of poetry: “The ability to make somebody feel something: that’s art. However you look at it, whether you’re an author, a painter, a singer, a rapper, a spoken-word artist – art. I feel like I’m one of the more creative artists in the game. I think I’m going to be here for a while.” In honor of Black Poetry Day, we’ve highlighted some of our favorite young stars who’ve changed the poetry game for us millennials. Earlier today TMZ alleged that Bardi’s been in the studio taking shots at Onika and has a new track filled with shade at the ready. The site added that things are so bad that members of her camp are nervous about Bardi’s “serious jabs” and while certain team Cardi campers are allegedly all for it, others think Cardi should ignore Nicki because she’s already “eclipsed her.” All the while those rumors were swirling, another website; TheJasmineBrand shut them down themselves. According to the site, that’s simply untrue and Belcalis’ new track will be a “Bodak Yellow” adjacent, money-making anthem and not about Onika at all. “A source says that the track will have nothing to do with Minaj, nor will it take any jabs at the artist. The source says that her next song, “Will strictly be about money. Some officers want you not to come home and Jeff doesn’t want to see that happen anymore.
