Ashley Olsen retired from eating a long time ago. But in the latest issue of Elle UK, the former Full House star says she’s also giving up the business that made her famous. And a billionaire. “We worked non-stop until we were 18,” Ashley says of herself and her twin. “Then we decided to take a break and go to school – and that was when we decided to question whether we would carry on in entertainment. It was time to step behind the process. I wanted to work on other things.” And now? The 25-year old is content to remain away from the camera, she says, concluding: “It doesn’t mean I’m not interested in Hollywood, I like the way it operates and the people who are involved and the sense of possibility. But if I ever do get back in, it’s not going to be as an actress. It just felt right to move away.”
This broad truly ain’t isht ! A disgraced Portland nursing assistant has been banned from Facebook and other social media sites after posting a photo of a dying patient’s buttocks. In addition to being fired from her job, Nai Mai Chao also recently spent eight days in jail and had her nursing license revoked following a two-day trial. Convicted of invasion of personal privacy, Chao was found to have posted graphic photos of patients on Facebook and to have written derogatory comments about them. A coworker, who recognized the dying patient by the bandages on his bedsores, reported Chao to her supervisors and she was arrested in September, according to OregonLive.com. The 26-year-old Chao denied taking the pics, but admitted posting them. “It’s a good lesson that we need to be responsible about things we are posting online,” Kelley Cloyd, a prosecutor assigned to the Multnomah County’s Gresham office, told OregonLive.com. During the trial, jurors were shown a handful of photos including two that contained human feces, according to the Oregon news website. The jury deliberated for just 30 minutes. As part of her conviction, Chao must avoid all social media sites, including Facebook, Google+, Twitter and MySpace. She also cannot take pictures of anyone without their “explicit” consent, according to OregonLive.com. Her name was entered into a national database that prohibits her from obtaining a nursing license anywhere else in the U.S. Chao, released from jail on Friday, must also write a 1,000-word letter of apology. The victim won’t be able to read it – he died two months after the incident. So disrespectful! SMH… How dumb is this broad? Boobs or brains? What would you choose? A substantial portion of young women in the U.K. would choose breasts over brains, according to a recent online survey. The U.K. discount website MyVoucherCodes asked 1,100 18-25-year-old women if they would trade their IQ’s for bigger breasts. One-third of respondents said they would. The survey, which was sent to The Huffington Post, also found that 41 percent of women would rather have bigger breasts than a high IQ, and 24 percent of those who preferred bigger breasts said it was because it would make them “feel happier.” In addition, 44 percent of the respondents would rather have a “slim figure” than high intelligence, with 29 percent of those women saying they felt being slim would make them feel “more confident.” The survey also suggests that the women’s preferences might have more to do with what they think men value than what they value in themselves. Fifty-seven percent of the women said they thought men would be “more interested” in them romantically if they had bigger breasts and 59 percent said they thought that, when looking for a relationship, men valued the appearance of a woman more so than her intelligence. Overall, a whopping 79 percent of women surveyed felt they were judged more by their appearance than by their intelligence. There were also economic concerns behind many of the women’s preferences. The survey found that 49 percent of the respondents believed that being “attractive” would also help a woman in her career. This is rather depressing news. With Universal’s colorful animated tale The Lorax , “the President’s liberal friends in Hollywood [are] targeting a younger demographic using animated movies to sell their agenda to children,” claimed an outraged Lou Dobbs this week on Fox Business Network. Animated movies ! A liberal agenda! HOW DARE THEY. What’s to blame for allowing this “insidious nonsense” into the vulnerable minds of our nation’s youth? Bad parenting, of course. As conservative radio host Matt Patrick bellowed from the commentator pit, “We are creating Occu-toddlers !” In the classic Seuss story — adapted into a 3-D animated adventure that hits screens next week — a magical creature called The Lorax attempts to intervene as an industrialist, driven by greed, ravages an entire ecosystem. This would seem to make The Lorax even more “dangerous” than previous Fox News target The Muppets , which took as its villain a much broader and clearly unlikeable capitalist; The Lorax is designed to show viewers how much they potentially have in common with the unwitting forest-killer The Once-ler, which is why it’s so powerful to begin with. My favorite part of this insanity is when Patrick advocates intentional littering in movie theaters as a means of protest against the Obama-led agenda espoused by The Lorax (and the Studio Ghibli animated pic The Secret World of Arriety , which could lead youngsters down the slippery slope of sharing things ). Throwing popcorn buckets on the ground would fly in the face of everything Dr. Seuss’s anti-deforestation, pro-environment tale stands for, but it would also make you look ridiculous in front of your own children. The “Harry Potter” actor successfully carried a history-making franchise on his shoulders for more than a decade, charmed audiences on the Great White Way with his critically acclaimed performance in “How to Succeed In Business Without Really Trying” and is making great post-“Potter” career choices. Not only is he generally talented and charming, but he has also put his star power behind the Trevor Project , which is a nonprofit organization that offers support to sexual minority youth, particularly those experiencing emotional difficulty dealing with their sexuality who need someone to talk to. The Trevor Project also endeavors to foster safe and inclusive environments in homes and schools. Radcliffe’s latest work with the organization is a 30-second PSA that aired Tuesday night during “Glee” and MTV News now has exclusively online. In the spot, Radcliffe addresses the very important issue of supporting lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning youth. “I’m Daniel Radcliffe, and I believe that reaching out for help is the bravest thing a person can do,” Radcliffe says in the PSA. “If you are struggling and need support, call the Trevor Lifeline at 1-866-488-7386. It’s free and confidential, and trained counselors are there to listen 24/7 without judgment.” The 22-year-old said in a statement that his work with the Trevor Project has taught him the importance of being a straight ally and offering his support. “When we let someone know that we accept them for who they are and that we are safe to talk to, we can help save lives,” he said. “It’s as simple as that.” Radcliffe has been involved with the Trevor Project since 2009, appearing in public service announcements for the group’s prevention hot line and speaking out in support of LGBT youth. Radcliffe has called his work with the Trevor Project “one of the most important, if not the most important, thing that I’m associated with.”
