Afrojack Talks His Part In Chris Brown’s ‘Look At Me Now’

Dutch dance producer tells MTV News how he contributed to C. Breezy’s Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Diplo collabo. By Akshay Bhansali Afrojack in an MTV News Skype interview Photo: MTV News Afrojack already had reason to celebrate as he headed into the New Year. The Dutch dance-music producer’s pop-dance single “Take Over Control,” featuring singer Eva Simons, made the top 25 on Billboard ‘s Dance/Club Play Songs chart in December. And now his second U.S. release, packed with hip-hop heavy-hitters, seems primed for chart success. MTV News caught up with the EDM producer (born Nick van de Wall) for a skype chat last week, and he talked about his contribution to Chris Brown’s “Look at Me Now,” the latest offering from the singer’s upcoming F.A.M.E. album. The track is a fast-rapping flurry of awesome self-indulgence courtesy of Busta Rhymes, Lil Wayne and Chris, with an eerie downtempo beat cooked up by chefs Afrojack and Diplo. The pair of producers previously collaborated on “Pon De floor,” off Diplo’s Major Lazer full-length release, and according to Afrojack, “Look at Me Now” is the product of a beat he’d passed along to the Philadelphia beatsmith. “Yeah, Diplo called me,” Afrojack recalled. “He was like, ‘We are in the studio right now, and we are gonna do a track on the beat.’ And I was like, ‘OK, whatever. Have fun.’ ” Eventually, “Look at Me Now,” was born. While Afrojack sounded casual about the song’s evolution, he said he’s certainly pleased with the finished product. “I just love these kind of people on a track like this,” he said. “It’s like hip-hop, but really weird kind of hip-hop. “Busta’s verse on it is really sick,” he continued. “It’s like I can’t even hear what he said, but I love the part where he goes [ mimics Busta’s rapid flow ], and then pauses and goes rapping really quickly. And I don’t know how to do it, I don’t even try. But it was really, really cool.” So what’s next for Afrojack? Apart from working on a remix for Pitbull , he premiered a new single exclusively for MTV News that we will be sharing with you very soon. All you Afrojack fans stay tuned! Chris Brown Drops ‘Look At Me Now,’ Featuring Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes

Singer posts a link to new song on Twitter, also announcing that he hopes to turn next album into a double disc. By Jayson Rodriguez Chris Brown Photo: Kevin Mazur/ WireImage It seems that Chris Brown fares better when he posts musical messages on Twitter. The embattled singer tweeted a link to followers with his latest song, “Look at Me Now,” featuring Lil Wayne and Busta Rhymes . The number will appear on Brown’s forthcoming project, F.A.M.E., which he also revealed he hopes to turn into a double disc; the second side would be titled Fortune. “I’m tryna make F.A.M.E album a double disc!! But not too expensive,” Brown tweeted on Saturday. “The other disc will be called FORTUNE!!! I just got too many damn songs.” “Look at Me Now” is a rollicking, off-kilter club jam, on which Brown spits more than he rhymes. “Yellow model chick, yellow bottle sipping, yellow Lamborghini, yellow top missing,” he flows over the sparse track. “Yeah, yeah, that sh– look like a toupee/ I did what you did in 10 years in two days.” A couple of days before Brown released his new song, he and former B2K member Raz-B got into it on Twitter , after Raz tweeted about Brown’s assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna. Brown apologized for his comments , which derailed from disses to homophobic slurs. “Yesterday was an unfortunate lack in judgment sparked by public Twitter attacks from Raz-B, who was bent on getting attention,” Brown said. “Words cannot begin to express how sorry and frustrated I am over what transpired publicly on Twitter. I have learned over the past few years to not condone or represent acts of violence against anyone.” This isn’t the first time Brown has made controversial remarks on his Twitter page , which he canceled in December 2009 only to return the following year. Busta Rhymes: Dream Team Is About ‘Being Bigger Than Life’

‘We haven’t given that to the fans in a long time,’ Bus says of Diddy-led supergroup that includes Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous. By Shaheem Reid Busta Rhymes Photo: MTV News Busta Rhymes says the formation of the collection of artists known as “The Dream Team” is a dream come true for fans. “It’s been a long time since we’ve been able to see artists of this magnitude come together and rock with each other as a unified front,” Busta explained on Saturday backstage at the Birthday Bash 15 concert held at Atlanta’s Philips Arena. “For one reason or another, there’s more beef than it is unity. So it’s a great thing that dudes of this caliber, just artists in general, can come together and rock and support each other’s movement. The Dream Team is pretty much that: We’re here to support each other’s movement.” When Busta does his roll call of the squad formerly known as “The Supreme Team,” he name-checks Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Fabolous, Red Caf

Busta Rhymes Calls DJ Khaled’s Summer Jam Set ‘A Special Moment’

‘When we did that ‘All I Do Is Win’ remix, fire and brimstone!’ he tells MTV News backstage. By Shaheem Reid Busta Rhymes Photo: MTV News EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — On Sunday night, after Busta Rhymes had ripped the stage with DJ Khaled and a host of others at Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert , the rap legend joked backstage with Trey Songz and gave his full play-by-play of what happened. ” ‘Stop the Party’ stopped the party this evening,” Busta said with an extra-raspy voice backstage at the New Meadowlands Stadium. “My voice is a little gone. They did warn the building that there was a tornado watch today. You know why they did that. The tornado came through! Busta came through and did what was necessary. With all due respect to everything else in the building, what was necessary had to get done. ‘Stop the Party’ flatlined the entire brand-new Giants Stadium. It’s only appropriate. Trey Songz, flatline! He came through and he bodied the building. Extremely appropriate.” Busta said the part of the show he was involved with was historic. “The Khaled set, I think a special moment we should acknowledge,” he said. “Despite the fact that the set in its entirety was incredible, I think we were very happy to see the homie Cam’ron. Flatline! Cam’ron, you bodied the building. The young homie Vado, great first look. You bodied the building. Mr. Ros

Trey Songz, Drake Heat Up Summer Jam, But DJ Khaled Steals The Show

Usher, Juelz Santana, Gucci Mane, Reflection Eternal and Fabolous also deliver at Hot 97’s annual fest. By Shaheem Reid Trey Songz performs during Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 6 Photo: Johnny Nunez/ WireImage One of the most anticipated moments of Hot 97’s Summer Jam concert on Sunday night was one that was unadvertised, though all the fans felt it was a foregone conclusion: the reunion of the New York rap giants the Diplomats. Juelz Santana was on the bill with his first solo set, but instead of bringing out the members of his unit, he brought out the youngest member of the G-Unit, Lloyd Banks . They made for one of the strongest moments of the night with their smash “Beamer, Benz or Bentley.” But what happened to the Dip’s reunion? One source close to their camp said Jim Jones had some issues with security and police and was not granted entrance in the new Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Freekey Zekey and Cam’ron came out later in the night as part of DJ Khaled ‘s show-stealing set. Hot 97 advertised that Khaled would be bringing out “friends,” and no one knew what to expect. Well, if you follow the Miami multi-tasking, up-and-coming mogul, you would have to suspect that he’d bring out Rick Ross . The two down-bottom mayors are thicker than Starsky and Hutch. Plus, Ross and Khaled did interviews together on Hot 97 earlier in the day. Khaled’s set started with his “All I Do Is Win” remix. Rolling deeper than two football teams, Khaled paraded out T-Pain (who sang the hook) and Busta Rhymes , who unleashed one of the most stylistically bulletproof verses of the year. Ross and Ludacris took the spotlight over on the “I’m So Hood” remix, and Busta regained the reins on his fresh new bopper “Stop the Party.” Rick Ross saluted the playas with “Super High” then continued with the “Angels” remix and his new club stomper “Blowin’ Money Fast (B.M.F.).”

N.O.R.E. Explains Unreleased Nas Cameo On The War Report 2

‘It was something in the vault, but we made it brand-new,’ Nore says of ‘With Me.’ By Shaheem Reid N.O.R.E. Photo: Gregg Delman Nas is with it, Capone-N-Noreaga are obviously with it, so all that’s left is for the public to hear it. Nas appears on C-N-N’s new LP, The War Report 2, via the song “With Me,” and, as Nore told us, he didn’t have to go to far for the guest spot. All he had to do was look in the vault. “I can’t remember [how long ago] we finished the song, because me and Nas have recorded so much material in the past,” Nore said. “We came across this [particular song and] made a new beat to it, switched a lot of things around. But it’s a wonderful thing. It’s not a recent verse from Nas. It was something in the vault, but we made it brand-new. If you don’t know it’s old, you won’t know. It’s the way a lot of people want to hear Nas.” Nore and Nas had a falling-out some years ago and really haven’t spoken much since then. N.O., however, said time has healed the wounds, and as you can hear on their album, he doesn’t have any problems with his fellow Queens native. “Me and [Nas’ brother] Jungle speak all the time,” Nore said. “Me and God’s Son haven’t spoke direct, but I been speakin’ to Jungle, so it’s looking like everything is gonna be everything in a minute. You never know when you might see brothers together. At the end of the day, Nas is pro-Queens like I’m pro-Queens, like Akinyele is pro-Queens, like Capone is pro-Queens. Everybody from Queens is pro-Queens. I feel great about [Nas] being a part of this project. That’s always gonna be our O.G., our older brother.” Besides Nas, Raekwon the Chef, the LOX and Busta Rhymes are among the guests on the July 13 album. The duo just shot a video for “Hood Pride” last week in New Jersey. It features guest appearances from Jim Jones and Joell Ortiz. “We’re redoing the movie ‘Life,’ ” Nore explained. “I’m Ray Gibson, which is [played by] Eddie Murphy in the movie, and ‘Pone is Claude Banks who is [played by] Martin Lawrence in the movie. We’re basically going in. Somebody is gonna try to take ‘Pone’s cornbread, and I’m gonna tell him not to let anyone take his cornbread. So we gonna go in. We got Rick Cordero directing, and we’re going to make a funny and great, entertaining video.” Are you hoping for a Noreaga and Nas truce? Let us know in the comments! Mo’Nique’s Brother Admits Molestation To Oprah

‘I’m humbly sorry that those actions had taken place,’ Gerald Imes says of abusing his sister as a child. By Jocelyn Vena Mo’Nique Photo: Frederick M. Brown/ Getty Images While promoting her Oscar-winning turn in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” Mo’Nique admitted that she had been molested by her older brother, Gerald Imes, when she was a child. On Monday (April 19), Imes sat down on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” to talk about the incident and apologize to his superstar sister. “I’m here today to first acknowledge that I’ve been in denial for 37 years. … I did assault and inappropriately touch my sister in manners that were uncomfortable for her,” Imes said on the show. “And for that, I apologize and I’m humbly sorry that those actions had taken place.” Imes admitted that the abuse of his younger sister stemmed from his issues with drugs and alcohol. “The drugs weren’t an excuse. They just allowed me and afforded me the opportunity to do the things that were in the back of my mind as a kid that I always wanted to do,” he said. “Most of the time, the abuse that I did with my sister took place while she was asleep [or] the appearance that she was asleep. “I hid my own molestation and pain and guilt and shame, because I thought it was my fault that these things happened to me,” he continued. “So I internalized that, and I hid behind the drugs and alcohol and then that spiraling thing in my mind, as a child, I wanted to express my sexuality, so I took it out on my sister.” For many decades, Imes didn’t own up to his actions. “The hardest part for me was even to admit to her I did something wrong,” he said. “I downplayed it by saying, ‘If you think I did it … .’ There’s no more ‘if you think’ — I did it. I did it. I’m not proud of it. Mo’Nique, I’m sorry. I can only hope that by coming forth today that somewhere along the line with the apology that, yes, hopefully somewhere, somehow as siblings we can come back together. “I’m doing this to apologize to my sister, to hopefully bring back some family unity,” he added. “I’m doing this to publicly acknowledge. Now let’s bring our family back together.” Imes, who was sentenced to 12 years in prison for molesting another person, said he also apologized to the other victim. As for Mo’Nique publicly addressing the abuse, he said, “I’m proud that she was able to finally get to a place that she could relinquish her pain. When she made the comment that I was the individual contributing to her role, I had to look at her and say, ‘I really understand her pain.’ ”

Lil Wayne’s ‘I’m Single’: Meet The Women In The Video

Tammy Torres and Mizz Na’Tasha play Weezy’s mistress and wife, respectively. By Shaheem Reid Tammy Torres in Lil Wayne’s “I’m Single” Photo: Nino Brown Now that Lil Wayne’s “I’m Single” video has premiered, people are curious about beauties in the clip vying for his affection. Playing the part of the mistress is model Tammy Torres. Torres, an alum of XXL ‘s Eye Candy section, has also appeared in other magazines, such as Smooth. She’s also appeared in other music videos, but her most popular cameo also comes courtesy of Mr. Weezy via his “Mrs. Officer” clip. Playing the part of Weezy’s wifey in the video is the woman the Twitter nation knows as Mizz Na’Tasha — however, Natasha Salimi said “I’m Single” is her curtain call. She’s retiring from the modeling game and focusing on going to school to study entertainment law. “I used to model. I been in Smooth magazine. My last cover is out right now. I’m in AsIs magazine. I was in ‘Notorious’ the movie. I was in Busta Rhymes’ video for ‘Arab Money.’ But I also work on Wall Street and I go to school. That’s my main focus now. The modeling is cool. … You gotta have a backup plan.” Na’Tasha told us “I’m Single” is actually her favorite record off of the No Ceilings mixtape, and she had a blast going psycho in the clip. “It was fun because I got to act a little crazy, stabbing the cake and throwing stuff,” she said. “Scoob was telling me to try and act as natural as possible and think about if I had something like that that happened in the past,” she explained. ” ‘Let it happen on its own.’ I tried to really put myself in the position of the role I was playing. Everything was laid-back, it was cool. Scoob is a great director. It went by quick. We came up with it as we were acting. I was like, ‘Wait, why don’t I act like I’m stabbing the poster then stab the cake?’ ” Related Artists Lil Wayne
