Some supporters claim he was ambushed Tuesday on Good Morning America, but the questions by Robin Roberts that preceded Chris Brown’s meltdown were approved by the singer before the interview, according to reports. Brown FLIPPED afterward, allegedly smashing a dressing room window. Roberts insists GMA asked in advance of she could pose “a few questions” about Rihanna, and Chris approved. She adds, “I’m pulling for the guy.”

Ever since his sudden burst on to the national scene, Ted Williams has been honest about possessing a checkered past. The homeless man with a golden voice has admitted that drugs and alcohol played a role in many mistakes, but The Smoking Gun has now come out with specifics regarding various arrests and citations. The rap sheet for Williams includes theft, robbery, escape, forgery and drug possession. As recently as July 2010, a businessman called the cops on this Brooklyn native and a female friend who refused to leave the premises. He told authorities that Williams had become an “ongoing problem” and that the woman often got “dropped off in the parking lot by various and numerous males in different vehicles.” Williams told Matt Lauer this week that his life “went to pits” and that he hopes he’ll take advantage of this second chance. But if it’s more like a seventh chance, many critics might believe Williams doesn’t deserve it.

Heidi Montag has separated from Spencer Pratt, and from all indications, it’s not the publicity stunt you probably assumed it was when you read the headline. “Heidi is looking to move out due to all the fake bad press that Spencer controls,” her rep told TMZ. “She’s tired of it and wants to focus on her acting career.” Reports say Heidi Montag is looking for a new place to live in Malibu. Things have grown particularly tense and erratic for Speidi lately, even by their exalted standards, culminating in Spencer calling the police on Heidi’s mother. That was just one incident in a relationship defined by turmoil. Says a friend of Heidi’s on the building tension between them: “It wasn’t just a sudden thing.” Wow, this puts a whole new spin on the THG Caption Contest too … Heidi and Spencer in happier times.
