Spotted: Alex Rodriguez and Cameron Diaz!

Yankees star Alex Rodriguez may have hit his 11th home run during last night’s game, but his most exciting trip around the bases took place hours later! We mean he may be hitting it with Cameron Diaz. A-Rod and his New York teammates were in Los Angeles over the weekend to take on the Dodgers, and the slugger may have a new good luck charm . After parading around with Kate Hudson and winning his first World Series with the Yankees last season, might Cameron Diaz fit the bill here in 2010? Here’s a picture of them out and about in L.A.: CALEX : This isn’t the first rendezvous for Cameron and Alex . The Rod and the actress made no attempt at hiding their relationship on Friday, dining at Soho House with friends, including his manager Guy Oseary. Guy, of course, also happens to be manager of Madonna, another famous A-Rod ex (his first famous fling after splitting from wife Cynthia Rodriguez). He has eyes only for Cameron now, however. Reports have surfaced for months regarding the two grinding on each other and so on. It’s totally on. “A-Rod and Cameron were very cute and affectionate,” says an eyewitness at the restaurant. “They were cuddling and he had his arm around her.” “You can tell they really like each other.” Another bonus for Diaz? She didn’t have to travel far for the c*ck this time. Her words. You just gotta go where that is, as she recently told Playboy .

‘Toy Story 3,’ ‘Grown Ups’ Play Well Together At Weekend Box Office

Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise’s ‘Knight and Day’ fizzles at #3. By Josh Wigler Lots-o’-Huggin’ Bear and Buzz Lightyear in “Toy Story 3” Photo: Disney/Pixar The Box-Office Top Five #1 “Toy Story 3” ($59 million) #2 “Grown Ups” ($41 million) #3 “Knight and Day” ($20.5 million) #4 “The Karate Kid” ($15.4 million) #5 “The A-Team” ($6 million) Moviegoers pining for their childhood years and those not quite ready to admit that they’re well into their adult lives walked away happy this weekend as “Toy Story 3” and “Grown Ups” were the big winners at the weekend box office, while “Knight and Day” opened to disappointing results. Landing in first place was “Toy Story 3” for its second-consecutive weekend victory. The Pixar family film earned $59 million in its second frame, bringing the latest “Toy Story” installment’s domestic total to $226.6 million after just two weeks. With an additional $100 million earned overseas, “Toy Story 3” has a worldwide toy chest worth $326.6 million, far exceeding its production budget of $200 million. Although the toys had the most fun at the box office this weekend, there was plenty to enjoy for “Grown Ups” as well. The Sony comedy stars veteran comedians and noted friends Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider, whose collective comedy power resulted in a strong $41 million debut. While name recognition was a helpful factor in the success of “Grown Ups,” it did little for Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz’s “Knight and Day.” The action-comedy earned $20.5 million over the weekend and $27.8 million since debuting on Wednesday, an unimpressive result given the box-office returns that Cruise and Diaz were once used to seeing. Landing in fourth and fifth place were “The Karate Kid” and “The A-Team,” proving their continued staying power in their third week at the box office. “The A-Team” has just barely crossed its production budget of $110 million, thanks to foreign ticket sales. Last weekend’s newcomer “Jonah Hex” virtually disappeared from sight with a $1.6 million 10th place finish, leaving many moviegoers scratching their heads wondering what went wrong with the Josh Brolin-starring DC Comics adaptation. Upcoming Releases Bella Swan finds herself in the crosshairs of deadly vampires and difficult romantic decisions once again with the arrival of “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” on Wednesday. But are the legions of Team Edward and Team Jacob supporters enough to take box office gold away from M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Last Airbender”? Which movie do you think will top next weekend’s box office? Share your predictions in the comments. Michael Musto’s The Hollywood Kid: Musto on the Street!

For this week’s installment of The Hollywood Kid, Michael Musto has become Movieline’s man on the street, grilling theatergoers on what they thought of the new Tom Cruise/Cameron Diaz flick, Knight and Day . The hardest part: finding people who were seeing it instead of Toy Story 3 (sorry, Cameron — your penis-loving travelogue was all for naught). Still, Musto persisted, and got an immortal crack about Legend out in the process. Enjoy!

Will Jason Segel Be Fired From How I Met Your Mother Because Of This Quote?

Eight years is a long time to be chained to a network sitcom, especially when your career has blown up so much over the past few seasons that you are currently attached to star in big-budget features opposite Jack Black and Cameron Diaz, not to mention co-write The Greatest Muppet Movie Ever Made (really, that is the title). Just ask Jason Segel, who recently attempted to explain his dead-end How I Met Your Mother obligation to an interviewer and ended up sounding a bit resentful of the CBS series that helped make his name.

The Hills Stars, Other Celebrities Share Bikini Body Secrets, Weight Loss Tips

This is bikini season and it’s time to get serious. You can take it from The Hills stars … people who have nothing to do except look good in bikinis every day. Take Audrina Patridge for example. She gets her body all beach ready by drinking lots of water, eating lean protein, green leafy vegetables and fewer carbs. “I also love shots of wheat grass,” The Hills star tells Life & Style in its cover story. “When I want to kick it up a notch, then I get Sunfare meals delivered.” Other celebrities who are no strangers to showing off their bodies in bikinis, such as Brooklyn Decker, focused on “toning up” and” definition in my abs.” The Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover girl and wife of Andy Roddick also consumes lots of high-protein Greek yogurt and nuts to build that muscle. Take it from Kristin Cavallari, Beyonce and others – there are easy ways to lose 10 pounds, burn calories while you sleep and other red hot tips for summer fun . Fortunately, Brooklyn doesn’t subscribe to that QuickTrim crap (talking to you, Kim Kardashian ). Her employer actually encourages a few extra pounds: “Sports Illustrated is never about losing weight. They encourage girls to eat cheeseburgers the night before. They love girls who are a little bit curvier.” No complaints here, although Cameron Diaz, with her lithe legs, flat tummy and sculpted arms, make us feel like we should work out one of these years. Lately, Cameron is doing combination exercises that blast multiple muscles at once, like squats with shoulder presses, as well as various yoga poses. Clearly it pays off!

‘Knight And Day’ Director Hoped To Bring Out Tom Cruise’s ‘Lightness’

‘This was a really great opportunity for him to shine,’ James Mangold says of his leading man. By Eric Ditzian, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Cameron Diaz and Tom Cruise in “Knight and Day” Photo: Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises Superheroes, all-encompassing CGI, in-your-face 3-D effects — these are the predominant trends in this year’s summer-movie season. What a surprise, then, to find “Knight and Day,” an action flick not based on an existing entertainment property, one not shot within the confines of a green screen and one featuring an actor who’s a member of that increasingly rare breed: the traditional Hollywood movie star. The movie, in fact, has as much in common with old-school pictures like “North by Northwest” and “Charade,” and for two hours, its stars (Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz) are more reminiscent of Cary Grant and Audrey Hepburn than other contemporary film stars. Director James Mangold recognizes the throwback factor to “Knight and Day” — and, as the guy behind heady fare like “Cop Land” and “3:10 to Yuma,” he welcomes it — but that’s not what pulled him into the production. Rather, it was the chance to work with Cruise and Diaz. “When I first read it, I thought it was a really promising idea for a movie, very charming idea for a movie,” Mangold told MTV News. “But what really intrigued me was that Cameron was attached — she’s someone who I adore and have known for a long time — and Tom was curious about it.’ Mangold had met with Cruise around the time he was developing “Yuma,” but both men agreed the actor wasn’t right for the film. When they did end up working together, they wanted it be on something that wasn’t so damn serious. “There was a lightness to him and a charm to him,” Mangold said of Cruise. “I hoped he’d make a choice to make a picture that exploited that even more. This was a really great opportunity, I think, for him to shine, still being the leading man and still being capable but getting that other side of him out.” That’s exactly what he does in “Knight and Day,” ditching the solemnity of his characters in films like “Valkyrie” and “Collateral” and returning to the type of manic comic territory he explored in “Jerry Maguire” and “Risky Business.” Once Cruise signed up, the script began to change. The story went from a comedy vehicle to something that merged high-octane action with comedic jabs. And the film continued to morph even as filming was under way. “There were days we’d show up and we’d completely rewrite what we were doing while we were going it,” Mangold said. “There’s a lot of jazz to Tom.” Check out everything we’ve got on “Knight and Day.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .

‘Knight And Day’: Run Time, By Kurt Loder

Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in an over-amped but underpowered spy tale. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz in “Knight and Day” Photo: Twentieth Century Fox and Regency Enterprises Anyone who’s ever been trapped on a plane flight from Hell — squashed by sprawling seatmates, battered by passing backpacks, besieged by squalling brats — will appreciate the elegant simplicity of Tom Cruise’s solution to similar problems: He kills everybody. Literally. But then they were trying to kill him. Even the pilots. Which is why they’re dead, too. Emerging from the loo, Cameron Diaz is surprised to find that she and Tom are now alone, unless you count corpses as company. And she’s worried — the plane is diving fast. Tom will handle that. (“No need to panic.”) But then what? The answer to that question has been clear in every espionage-romance dating back at least to Hitchcock’s “The 39 Steps.” The answer is: Run! If only “Knight and Day” gave these two much else to do. Playing rogue CIA agent Roy Miller, Cruise deploys his smooth charm to ravishing effect — we’re reminded again of what a supple comic actor he can be. And as innocent bystander June Havens, Diaz, with her eager eyes and engulfing grin, is adorable throughout. But the script, by first-time screenwriter Patrick O’Neill, doesn’t have enough of the breezy wit that makes a classic spy-chase movie like “North by Northwest” so pleasurable. There are some good lines. (Noting that trouble-magnet Roy has been wounded at one point, June deadpans, “You have to go to the hospital. Prison, maybe.”) But director James Mangold (“Walk the Line”) is mostly intent on goosing the action along from one nifty set of stunts to the next. The stunts are pretty great — especially a heavy-damage highway chase (which seems fresher than usual here) and a wild escape through a Spanish bull-run stampede. But we miss the stylish downtime that would allow us to catch our breath. And we miss the romance. Cruise and Diaz have real chemistry, but the script doesn’t enable them to do much with it. (Although there is a cute moment when she wakes up in a bikini she wasn’t wearing when she passed out. Too bad this sexy tease doesn’t build into anything interesting.) In the traditional way, the story is a flimsy thing; and in the traditional way, that doesn’t matter. Roy is being chased by a team of his former CIA colleagues led by an inscrutable character named Fitzgerald (Peter Sarsgaard). Fitzgerald is convinced that Roy has lost his mind and absconded with an ultra-powerful device called the Zephyr. (“The biggest thing since the sun,” Roy says.) The determined spooks chase Roy and June — who has fallen into this mess by sheerest accident — from Boston to the Azores (where Roy maintains a private island) to Austria (look out for the assassin!) to the Spanish villa where an international arms dealer named Antonio (Jordi Moll

Jimmy Kimmel Goes DIY After Power Outage

You didn’t see any clips from Jimmy Kimmel Live in Late Night Highlights because a power outage shut down the control room, broadcast transmission center and tape operations area just one hour before the show was scheduled to tape. That was bad news for guest Seth Rogen — who was set to premiere the trailer for The Green Hornet — but good news for Steve Jobs, since Kimmel decided to tape the entire broadcast on his Macbook Pro webcam. And it worked! The fruit of Kimmel’s labor will air tonight at his regularly scheduled time. [ USA Today ]
