Summer Hiatus

After months of nonstop traveling on the campaign trail, and recently on a humanitarian trip with Mom in Southeast Asia, we’re going to take the next two weeks off to prepare for the breakneck pace of the fall election. We’ll be upgrading our website, improving the quality of our videos and photos and installing a few other special surprises that have been requested by many of our readers. In the meantime, we’re going to put in place the number one requested item from our viewers: an RSS feed! In order to activate the feed, please subscribe to the RSS link . We’ll repost all of our entries from last fall through July 27th, when we plan to go back out on the road. Thanks again to everyone for your kind words and support. We look forward to seeing many of you out on the road!

Michigan

Below are pics from our campaign visit to Michigan. I did something at a finance event I haven’t done in a very long time – I introduced Dad to the crowd (because my Mom had hurt her hand at a campaign event). I have never been completely comfortable speaking in public but it just seemed easier this time because it was my Dad. On to California and Miami later this week! More Florida

As we approach the end of August and the political conventions draw near, I’m feeling nostalgic about our campaign’s incredible journey thus far. I am very grateful for the opportunity to have met so many amazing people as we’ve traveled across this great country, and I’m looking forward to more adventures ahead! In the meantime, I hope you’ll enjoy some additional pictures from Dad’s campaign swing through Florida. We’ll post pics from Sedona soon! Song of the Day: “Time is On My Side” by The Rolling Stones

The Insider and LA HQ

Yesterday was a big day with a stop at “The Insider” for an interview with Lara Spencer and then a trip to the campaign’s headquarters in Santa Monica to meet our tireless volunteers. Once again, I want to thank everyone for their support during my book tour. I just found out that “My Dad, John McCain” officially became a New York Times bestseller yesterday. I am so honored and grateful! Song of the Day: “Hot N Cold” by Katy Perry

Nashville Debate Part 2

Here’s the second half of the photos from the second Presidential debate at Belmont University. The debates really are surreal experiences. Enormous pressure, energy and preparation for a 90 minute performance. One of the really amazing things you’ll notice about this view behind the scenes is how different the atmosphere can be. One moment on a crowded stage under the scrutiny of the nation, the next walking through darkly lit passageways to the fluorescent lights of the typical collegiate locker room. Boston

We made a trip to Boston College on the Straight Talk and met enthusiastic voters at a bunch of stops along the way. These are some of the most exciting times of the campaign. Momentum IS building and you can feel it and see it on the faces of the volunteers and supporters we meet every day! More pics coming very soon… Song of the Day: “Going On” by Gnarls Barkley

Israel stormed Gazza’s humanitarian aid ship – 10 dead people

The Israeli navy has stormed at least one of a convoy of ships carrying humanitarian aid to the Gaza strip, amid reports of casualties on board. Some reports say two people have been killed and about 30 injured. Israel has declined to comment. The exact location of the interception is unclear. Israel had warned the ships not to enter its territorial waters. The ships are carrying 10,000 tonnes of aid to the Gaza Strip in an effort to break an Israeli blockade. Turkish TV pictures taken on board the Turkish ship leading the flotilla show Israeli soldiers fighting to control passengers. The footage showed a number of people, apparently injured, lying on the ground. The sound of gunshots could be heard. It is not clear whether the fighting is ongoing. Al-Jazeera TV reported from the same ship that Israeli navy forces had fired and boarded the vessel, wounding the captain. The Al-Jazeera broadcast ended with a voice shouting in Hebrew, “Everybody shut up!”. “Provocation' The six-ship flotilla left international waters off the coast of Cyprus on Sunday and was expected to arrive in Gaza later on Monday. Israel has said it would stop the boats, calling the campaign a “provocation intended to delegitimise Israel”. added by: alexandrek
