Rider allegedly threatened to go to his car and pull out the gat at a youth basketball tourney after his wife got into some funk with another mom at the game. TMZ Sports reports : 48-year-old Rider — who spent 9 seasons in the NBA — is the head coach of the SkyRiders basketball team, which was playing a tourney at the Inspire Court gym in Mesa, AZ on May 17. Cops responded to the tournament over reports of parents fighting — and when they got there, they spoke with Isaiah’s wife, Vanessa … who said she had been attacked by another woman for “no viable reason.” Vanessa Rider also claimed her 9-year-old son was physically assaulted by an older boy and injured during the altercation. When cops arrived, they found the other woman … but she told a completely different story. The woman claims her son’s team had defeated the SkyRiders so Vanessa was bitter — with Vanessa calling her a “bitch” and trying to swing at her. Rider’s wife claims someone else in the gym threatened to pull out a gun, and that her husband was just trying to even the odds. No one was charged with a crime. — Photo: Getty

T wo health advocates teamed up for the creation of a movement designed to empower Black women and girls to take charge of their health. For the past 8 years the nonprofit organization—dubbed GirlTrek—has been inspiring individuals to heal their bodies and reclaim their communities one step at a time, CNN reported. Morgan Dixon and Vanessa Garrison . Cognizant of the racial health disparities impacting Black women the two friends, who met in college, were determined to create a platform that promoted health, wellness, and self-care. For Dixon and Garrison, the mission behind GirlTrek was personal. They wanted to break generational cycles and change the narrative surrounding Black women and wellness. “It wasn’t because we were walking enthusiasts or because we love to walk. When we started we were just trying to save our own lives,” Dixon told CNN. “How do we not fall in these pitfalls that our mothers and our aunts and our grandmothers have fallen into? Eighty percent of us are overweight and carrying that weight is killing us now at disproportionate levels. We can’t do it anymore. We can’t carry it anymore.” What started as a walking challenge for family and friends quickly grew into a national movement where over 170,00 women are walking with groups across the country with the assistance of 1,000 organizers. The mission goes far beyond getting fit. Many of the walks are inspired by civil rights pioneers and are hosted to spread awareness about issues impacting the Black community. The walks have fostered conversations amongst Black women about playing a role in the redevelopment of their communities. “We know that when Black women walk, things change, and that we walk in the footsteps of that legacy,” said Garrison. So what did she do on Friday, the last court date before the big decision? She went home early because she wasn’t feeling well, missing an hour of supervised visitation with the children. That can’t be a good look, right? That she can’t even bother to have a visit with her kids during this very serious time? Well, it gets worse! An insider spoke with Hollywood Life about what’s been going on with Jenelle behind the scenes, and it’s .. well, it’s just as depressing as you’d think. As the source tells it, “Jenelle has no intention of leaving David and is working with her lawyers on fighting this case no matter what.” “Jenelle doesn’t know what she’d do without David by her side right now because he has been a huge support system, and she’s leaning on him more than ever now.” Several sources have claimed that she was told that if she’d just leave David, even just for right now, she could get the kids back, because it’s his fault they’re in this position in the first place . But sure, she needs him for support in dealing with things that he did. Sure. This insider also says that Jenelle “knows she’s an amazing mom, and she loves her kids, and will do anything to get them back.” Uh … OK. “But Jenelle doesn’t feel she has to leave David to do so, and is prepared to do whatever it takes to get her family back together again.” And hey, “if that means a lengthy court battle then so be it, she is ready for whatever she needs to do.” Another source adds that “Jenelle is not showing any signs of turning on David . Superhero films are all the rage these days, but we haven’t seen a hero flick done quite like James Gunn’s Brightburn . Brightburn tells the story of a farm couple living in Brightburn, Kansas who has had trouble conceiving a child. One night, a meteor falls from the sky near their farm with a baby inside, so they decide to adopt him, naming him Brandon. Ten years later, Brandon discovers that he has superhuman strength, and literally, all hell breaks loose. We caught up with two of the stars from the film — David Denman who plays the father Kyle Breyer and Jackson A. Dunn who plays Brandon Breyer/Brightburn — and they dished on all things horror, working with James Gunn, and whether or not there actually is some good in even the worst people. On whether or not some people are born inherently bad: Dunn: I think it depends on someone’s upbringing and the things that affect them in life. Their trauma. It’s all about background Denman: I concur with what he said. I don’t that anyone is just purely evil. There are people who are misguided, and that’s unfortunate.
