Meek Mill And Lawmakers Propose Probation Reform Bill

See the original post here:

P hiladelphia-bred hip-hip artist Meek Mill has become a fierce advocate for criminal justice reform. The rapper—whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams —is pushing his fight against the unjust system forward by joining forces with lawmakers to propose a probation and parole reform bill, the Chicago Crusader reported. REFORM Alliance, @MeekMill 's criminal justice reform organization, proposes Pennsylvania bill reforming probation & parole system https://t.co/ISyzZpkmQt pic.twitter.com/wdxoS7VsV8 — billboard (@billboard) April 2, 2019 The bill is an initiative led by the REFORM Alliance; a group created by Williams, Jay-Z , Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Michael Rubin , Nets co-owner Clara Wu Tsai and Patriots owner Robert Kraft . The alliance was formed to unite leaders across different industries so that they can work towards changing the landscape of our country’s unjust judicial system by shifting laws and policies related to probation and parole. The REFORM Alliance aims to free at least 1 million individuals within the next five years. Through the proposed bipartisan bill—which was unveiled by Williams, Rubin, Rep. Sheryl Delozier , Rep. Jordan Harris , and Van Jones in Philadelphia this week—courts would be prohibited from giving an individual consecutive probation sentences. Courts would also be barred from extending probation and parole sentences if an individual is facing financial hardships and is unable to pay fees and fines. There are other measures featured in the bill including the prevention of reincarceration for an offender who associates with an individual who has a criminal past or tests positive for marijuana and rewards for good behavior. Williams’ own experiences with the criminal justice system have inspired him to lead this initiative, especially in Pennsylvania. He was re-imprisoned for miniscule probation violations and received a two-to-four-year sentence in 2017 which sparked the #FreeMeek movement. After he was released he made it his mission to reach back and help other individuals who were in the same predicament but didn’t have the same platform. “This proposed bill is the first step in changing the criminal justice system and it’s only right that we start in my home state,” Williams said in a statement, according to the news outlet. “I’ve lost too much time away from my son, my family, my friends and fans in Philly because of outdated probation laws, so I want to make sure people don’t have to go through what I did.” Pieces of legislation like the one that he and other leaders are introducing are needed. According to the REFORM Alliance, Pennsylvania has the third highest rate of community supervision in the country costing $200 million each year. Furthermore, there are currently 296,000 people on parole or probation within the state. Beth Chapman Rushed to Hospital Amid Cancer Battle

Beth Chapman has been hospitalized in Hawaii. The wife of Dog “the Bounty Hunter” Chapman, who is a veteran of reality television herself, reportedly has trouble breathing, according to Us Weekly. This tabloid broke the troubling story and quoted an insider who says of Chapman: “Beth Chapman has been rushed to a Hawaii hospital with serious breathing issues. She hasn’t been feeling well of late and Dog is by her side. One thing everyone knows about Beth is that she’s a fighter.” That’s for certain. Anyone who has followed Beth over the past couple years is well aware of her grit and determination. The 51-year old underwent emergency surgery on her throat on November 27, 2018 after discovering the devastating news that her cancer had returned after she had seemingly overcome the illness. Since that time, she had been receiving chemotherapy treatments in Los Angeles, keeping fans and social media followers apprised of her journey throughout. In an emotional interview with DailyMailTV just over a week ago, Duane explained how the love of his life is preparing to die . She has every intention of making the most of every single second she has remaining. “She has told me repeatedly that if these are her last days on earth she wants to spend every moment with me,” he said in late March. Duane went on to say that Beth wants to spend her time “living life to the fullest, enjoying the time we have left together.” What an admirable attitude, right? Beth was first diagnosed with throat cancer in 2017. It returned last fall, with Beth confirming the sad development as follows; “After months of a nagging cough, a routine checkup resulted in a diagnosis of stage II throat cancer I have what is referred to as a T2 Tumor in my throat that is blocking my breathing. “My doctors are suggesting immediate treatment and surgery before the disease progresses.” Earlier this week, Dog posted a photo of his wife decked out in black and sitting in a car as she poked out her tongue for the camera. “Property of DOG,” he captioned the cheeky Instagram snapshot. Here’s a look at that recent image: Back in December, Dog also spoke to Us Weekly about his wife, her diagnosis and the future as he saw it. Or hoped to see it, at least. “I don’t listen to the bad news. I don’t want to hear it. … I pray a lot, anywhere. I cry all the time,” he said, concluding back then: “I’m a sinner. I pray a lot. I have done double that. I constantly ask God to heal my honey and make sure He takes care of it. I’ve been telling Him that I’m going to try and quit smoking and cursing. “I’m a dealmaker, and I’ll do anything.” Heartbreaking stuff. We will keep the Chapmans in our thoughts and hope you do the same.

Woman Who Accused Mally Mall Of Trafficking Her Says It’s Time For Nevada To Clean Up Its Legal Sex Trade (Exclusive)

Source: Hollywood To You/Star Max / Getty Angela Delgado Williams Said She Hopes Her Suit Will Spur Change Around Nevada’s Sex Industry The woman who accused Mally Mall of sex trafficking her as part of a class action suit against the state of Nevada said she hopes to shine a light on the depravity in the state’s legal prostitution industry. Angela Delgado Williams said Mally Mall trafficked her around the country to engage in the sex trade for four years and called the music producer “probably one of the biggest traffickers of all time.” “A lot of people are lured in,” Williams said. Nevada “Is a hub for sex trafficking and Jamal (Mally Mall) is one of the front men of one of the sex trade in Las Vegas.” Williams said Mally Mall – whose real name is Jamal Rashid – used his connections in the industry to entice and manipulate females into working for him. She said Mally financed his career in the music business through the proceeds from prostitution and spent most of his time entertaining celebrities in his Neverland-style luxury mansion. She said he would tell her and others that he’d eventually take them away from the prostitution and they’d all be on his reality show, “Mally’s World.” “He glorified our life so much,” Williams exclusively told BOSSIP. “He really had coercion and manipulation on another level. When I was actively being trafficked by him, paying him, working for his escort service, he was working with Young Burg. He always had artists and industry people in his house, and he was paying his way into the music industry.”

DNA Proves Boy Claiming to Be Timmothy Pitzen is an Imposter

In 2011, the family of a young Timmothy Pitzen had their hearts broken when the little boy went missing after his mother was found dead. This week, the news reported that a frightened, injured teenager begged strangers for help, identifying himself as Pitzen. Hopes ran high that a broken family would be reunited. But now, those hopes have been dashed. Timmothy Pitzen was just six years old when, security tapes reveal, his mother pulled him out of school one day. Further surveillance evidence showed her taking him on a road trip that included water parks. For days, Amy Fry-Pitzen took her son on this unexplained outing while the entire family worried for her and for Timmothy. It has been speculated that Amy was afraid that, because of her history of mental illness, she would lose Timmothy if she and husband Jim divorced. Unfortunately, this outing took an especially tragic turn. On May 13, 2011, Timmothy was last seen alive as his mother checked them out of the Kalahari resort in Wisconsin. That night, after sundown, Amy was recorded shopping for groceries in Illinois. She was, at that time, alone. Hours later, she checked herself into a hotel. A housekeeper found her the next day, dead. According to police, Amy had self-inflicted cuts on her wrists and even her throat, and her body contained a lethal cocktail of drugs. Her alleged suicide note begins with a warning: “You will never find him.” The note additionally promised that he was in the care of others who would protect him. That is … unimaginably heartbreaking for everyone involved. Timmothy's disappearance remains a mystery — and a cold case — to this day. But on Wednesday, the world took notice after a young man claiming to be Timmothy Pitzen appeared in Kentucky. He asked passersby for help. He had been running and there were visible injuries on his face. The young man described where he had been held, and claimed that he had been held captive for seven years. The Pitzen family was cautious, but hopes were running high. On Thursday evening, FBI Louisville tweeted some grim news. “DNA results have been returned,” the tweet reads. “Indicating the person in question is not Timmothy Pitzen.” People had braced themselves for that news, but most had guessed that he was a teen who had suffered greatly and wanted a home to which to flee. (That's not okay, but we can understand why a child who has been traumatized might want to “reunite” with a loving home they've never experienced) But according to multiple reports, the alleged 14-year-old claiming to be Timmothy was not even a teenager. Apparently, his name is Brian Michael Rini. He is a native of Ohio and has a troubling history of legal problems and of mental health issues. Also, the guy is 23 entire years old. While we're sure that he did not make this claim about his identity lightly, this has put the Pitzen family through hell. However, there is a silver lining to this heartbreak. People are once again discussing the Pitzen case. Both the family and law enforcement experts say that new conversations about cold cases can prompt new leads.

Source: Kevin Mazur / Getty Reebok Fumbles Beyoncé Bag With Whitewashed Staff, Adidas WINS Ivy Park Deal! Reebok might have learned the hard way about hiring majority aryan-esque folks to their team after Beyonce reportedly threw them deuces recently. News of Beyonce relaunching her Ivy Park brand, creating a signature shoe (YES a Beyonce shoe!) and doing other cool projects with Adidas recently broke. CNBC Sports producer Jess Golden called the partnership “multilayered”. Just In: Adidas and Beyoncé have announced a multi-layered partnership today. Beyoncé will be a creative partner for the brand, develop new signature footwear and apparel, as well as re-launch her Ivy Park brand with adidas. — Jess Golden (@JGolden5) April 4, 2019 Beyonce confirmed the deal in a statement: “This is the partnership of a lifetime for me. Adidas has had tremendous success in pushing creative boundaries. We share a philosophy that puts creativity, growth and social responsibility at the forefront of business. I look forward to re-launching and expanding Ivy Park on a truly global scale with a proven, dynamic leader” An as interesting twist to this story is that Adidas was not the first mega-brand to get dibbs on Bey-Bey’s creations. Reebok was in talks with Beyonce first and FUMBLED. How’d they do THAT???? They don’t hire enough black folks! ESPN Writer Nick Depaula just revealed in a segment on “The Jump” that Beyonce was turned off by Reebok’s lack of Black people on staff. Reportedly, after Reebok created an elaborate presentation to impress Bey, she took a look around the room and asked: “Is this the team that would be working on my product?” When Bey’s question was answered with a “yes”, Beyonce replied, “Nobody in this room reflect my background, my skin color, where I’m from and what I want to do.” Hit play to hear it. This is about Beyoncé so you should watch it but also @NickDePaula tells a really interesting story of why Beyoncé walked out of her meeting with the Reebok people and ended up signing with the adidas side of the brand instead. Representation, baby. pic.twitter.com/hE6R3Z4pm9 — Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) April 5, 2019 Yikes! In your face Reebok. Time to stop hiring Beckys and get you some Blue Ivys! It’s 2019.
