Khloe Kardashian probably wanted to go hide under a rock on Wednesday night. Unlike Tristan Thompson, however, she's a woman of her word. Despite the humiliation of having her boyfriend cheat on her (yet again) with a close acquaintance (darn you, Jordyn Woods !), Khloe fulfilled her obligation yesterday evening to attend the PrettyLittleThing LA Office Opening Party in Beverly Hills. Thankfully, however, she wasn't alone. Best friend Malika Haqq stood by Kardashian's side as she faced the press and posed on the red carpet. Jussie Smollett has gone from victim to pariah. On Thursday morning, the Empire actor was arrested and charged with falsifying a police report; the felony could land Smollett in prison for up to three years. Police have subsequently released his mug shot. Before we get into the damning accusations leveled at Smollett during a press conference held by Chicago Police Superintendent. Eddie Johnson today, a quick rehashing of how we got here: Smollett claimed to authorities on January 29 that he was assaulted by two white men around 2 a.m. on the streets of Chicago. He said they yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him; screamed that he was in “MAGA country;” tied a rope around his neck; and poured bleah all over him. The story made national headlines and was commented on by President Trump, Democratic candidates for President in 2020 and, of course, many celebrities from across Hollywood. HOWEVER… … about two weeks after the allegations were made, a pair of brothers from Nigeria were arrested by the police. We quickly learned that these siblings worked as Smollett’s personal trainers and also as extras on Empire. Questions were raised about whether Smollett staged the assault with these men, although the motive why was never made clear. But Johnson addressed both the supposed motive and other aspects of the investigation/arrest in his press conference this morning. We’ve posted his quotes below in bold. Empire Star Under Investigation [UPDATED] First, Johnson said he understands why this incident garnered such attention, but made an important general point at the outset of the media gathering: Before I get started I look out into the crowd, I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention because that’s who really deserves the amount of attention that we are giving to this particular in distinct. Johnson then went hard after Smollett for the way he exploited the legitimate problem of racism and homophobia for his own selfish purposes. This announcement today recognizes that empire actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career. I’m left hanging my head and asking why. He added: Why would anyone — especially an African-American man — use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? Johnson said Smollett was reportedly unsatisfied with his salary on Empire and paid $3,500 to the aforementioned siblings to stage the attack on himself. A week prior to the fake beating, Smollett received a threatening letter (below), which Johnson said the star sent to himself, referring to this as a false letter that relied on racial, homophobic and political language and adding: This publicity stunt was a scar that Chicago didn’t earn and certainly didn’t deserve. The phony assault took place on the street, as Smollett claimed all along. The two men, who were wearing gloves, punched Smollett “a little bit,” Superintendent Johnson said. However, the scratches and bruises on his face were likely self-inflicted, he continued. Addressing concerns that this incident was given extra attention due to a celebrity being at the center of it, Johnson took extreme umbrage. Any time a hate crime is reported in the city of Chicago, it gets the same attention. This didn’t get any special attention… We give every hate crime in this city the same amount of vigor because there is no place for hatred in this city. No personnel nor any resources were pulled from homicide or shooting investigations to help with the Smollett case. Based on phone records, Smollett talked to the Nigerian brothers about an hour before the staged attack. When we discovered the actual motive, quite frankly, it pissed everybody off because we have to invest valuable resources. Johnson said he hasn’t seen Smollett’s full interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, but he’s viewed snippets and is well aware of the case Jussie tried to make on his own behalf. To be quite honest, it’s shameful because it painted this city that we all love and work hard in in a negative connotation. Nothing, but… Absolute justice would be an apology to this city that he smeared, admitting what he did and then be man enough to offer what he should offer up in terms of resources put into this. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has also now issued a statement. It reads as follows: I want to thank all of the Chicago police officers who have worked on this case, and all of the private citizens and business owners who have stepped forward with information and video evidence to help us get to the bottom of what was reported as a hate crime. All across Chicago, in every neighborhood, there are signs in front yards and in windows that read, “Hate Has No Home Here.” It is a sign that expresses our shared values and defines our great city. Chicago’s message to the world is that no matter where you come from, who you love, or how you pray you will always have a home here. Our laws exist to reflect and defend those values, and hate crimes will never be tolerated. A single individual who put their perceived self-interest ahead of these shared principles will never trump Chicago’s collective spirit.

Little People, Big World star Amy Roloff is living her best life, but fans continue to demand to know when she'll get engaged to Chris Marek . After her latest romantic getaway with her boyfriend, some of Amy's fans and followers are growing suspicious. Some accuse Chris of being downright creepy. “Costa Pura Vida,” Amy writes on Instagram. “Beautiful country and people.” She and boyfriend Chris Marek went on a stunning romantic vacation for Valentine's Day. “Great R&R time w/ Chris and friends,” Amy writes. “Time to say audios until maybe next time.” “We’re ready to come home,” her caption concludes. “Because there’s no place like ‘home’.” “Chris and I had a great time in Costa Rica,” Amy tells her fans and followers in a thoughtful video. “It was a good R&R,” she shares. “But,” Amy continues. “Like everything else, we're ready to go home.” She explains: “I'm ready to see my grandkids and get back to life.” “And,” she adds. “Figure out Amy Roloff's Little Kitchen.” It is no surprise to longtime followers that Amy found a way to plug her products in the video. “And,” Amy adds. “Continue on with my book. A whole bunch of other stuff.” “Life's back home,” she affirms. “But you can hear the fountain,” Amy notes. “The pool area.” “It's been great,” she gushes. “Costa Rica's been wonderful, and I hope to be back.” “Anyway, back to cold weather,” she says. “Back to normal. Enjoy!” “Hum no ring,” another observed. Fortunately, Amy did see plenty of much nicer fans leave much more supportive comments. You know, like actual fans. First and foremost, Amy is a grown woman, She and Chris are consenting adults. If someone has a personal religious or non-religious reservation about non-marital sex, that's valid … for them. It's purely their business. Similarly, Amy's romance with Chris is purely her business. She doesn't ever have to marry him or anyone else. Second of all, there are a lot of people who think that Chris is just “using” Amy for fame or somesuch. Even if Amy appeases the people cranky about non-marital “milk,” those people will freak out if she and Chris get hitched. Finally, the suspicious about motives crowd really needs to lay off, because they're being ableist and insulting. They're implying that Chris couldn't just be interested in Amy because she's a beautiful, intelligent woman. Their implication is that because she is a little person, Chris must have some ulterior motive for dating her. That is a sickening, ableist suggestion. Cut it out.

But rather than an over the top evening filled with hot tea and hats, the Duchess made a getaway to the Big Apple to spend some quality time with her closest, non-British besties. And we don’t blame her. According to multiple outlets, Meghan has been in NYC over the past couple of days celebrating the upcoming arrival of her and Prince Harry’s first child who is due this Spring. And Meghan’s pals deserve an award for their wondrous party planning skills. The shower is reportedly being held in a $75,000 suite at The Mark Hotel, which is known as “New York’s most boldly lavish hotel” located in the heart of Manhattan. And the head chef at the 5-star resort happens to be none other than world-renowned culinary master Jean-Georges Vongerichten. But the only thing better than the food…the guest list! A-list celebrities filed into the hotel to greet the royal, including Amal Clooney, Serena Williams, Gayle King, Meghan’s wedding makeup artist Daniel Martin, former Suits star Abigail Spencer, Toronto-based stylist Jessica Mulroney, and designer (and Meghan and Harry’s matchmaker) Misha Nonoo, according to People . But Serena and Amal are footing the bill as they are rumored to be the ones hosting the extravagant party. And it wasn’t just their sophisticated chic fashion the photographers were busy capturing, but rather a giant cotton candy machine being wheeled into the hotel! Meghan reportedly has been known to spoil her friends and co-workers with special treats. The fun all began on Tuesday when one of Meghan’s first baby gifts arrived, which was an eco-friendly and modern crib by Babyletto. It’s no secret that Meghan’s friends are doing an A+ job with the shower, but they’ve also earned an A+ for having their BFF’s back throughout all the pressure she has faced while transitioning into a royal. Just days after the news that Miranda Lambert got married after a three month courtship, the bad news started coming in. Apparently Brendan McLoughlin cheated on his former fiancee and fathered a child with another woman. It’s not a good look. Now, the woman who was almost his mother-in-law reveals more about his deception. Brendan McLoughlin’s ex-fiancee, Jackie Bruno, is understandably “mortified” at the news of his sudden marriage to Miranda Lambert. At least, that is what Jackie’s mother, Carol Bruno, tells Us Weekly . “[Jackie] just wants to say that he’s just a lying, cheating, no good piece of garbage,” Carol shares. Brendan McLaughlin is a New York City police officer whose Manhattan precinct includes Times Square. According to Carol, the woman who was nearly his mother-in-law, he was leading “a secret double life.” “[Brendan] tried to deny it,” Carol says of his deceptions. “And then begged her to stay with him.” “He was begging her to marry him,” Carol says. Jackie and Brendan did not end up getting married, but it sounds like he was pushing her in that direction. Carol accuses that he did so “Even though he know the girl was pregnant.” That sounds like a complicated but deeply unfair situation for both his baby mama and his (now former) fiancee. Miranda Lambert stunned fans last weekend when, in honor Valentine’s Day, she made a shocking announcement. “I met the love of my life,” Miranda told fans. And we got hitched!” “My heart is full,” she gushed. “Thank you Brendan McLoughlin for loving me for…. Me,” she concludes. Miranda tagged her caption: “#theone.” “He was at my house and ate dinner with her father and I at our house almost every night,” Carol says. This is why the betrayal cuts so deep for Carol and for Jackie. Carol says that Brendan did this “while his pregnant baby mama was at his place.” All in all, she shares that Jackie and Brendan were together for “almost two years.” The engagement portion of their relationship, Carol says, lasted for “a few months.” “He told her to keep it [the engagement] quiet,” Carol says. She accuses that he did this “because he knew about the baby on the way.” That sounds not only unkind to all parties involved, but like a very poor long-term plan. How does one hide the existence of a child after the child is born and after a wedding? Sooner or later, the story is going to break down and the lies will stop working. Carol lays into Brendan, saying: “He’s just a lying, cheating, conniving, narcissistic [person].” Some say that Brendan sounds like the perfect man for Miranda. Miranda has admitted that she is something of a homewrecker, and her last marriage ended with cheating accusations. But Brendan is not the first man accused of cheating. For that matter, she and Blake Shelton both allegedly cheated during their marraige. Blake “won” the divorce, in terms of his reputation with the Country music community. His reputation is fine and very few people have a problem with his ongoing romance with Gwen Stefani. Perhaps it’s unfair that people are more concerned about Miranda getting hitched after just three months with an unknown man.
