P resident Donald Trump , facing a new political landscape after Democrats won control of the House on Tuesday, lashed out at a faithful Black Republican who’s on the brink of losing her congressional seat. Mia Love at a press conference on Wednesday, during which he gave his spin on the midterm elections. “Mia Love gave me no love and she lost. Too bad. Her Democratic challenger Ben McAdams was leading 51.4 percent to Love’s 48.6 percent by early Wednesday morning. McAdams delayed declaring victory, waiting instead for officials to count ballots sent by mail. The Utah lawmaker was among just a handful of Black Republicans in Congress, which includes South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott . Love and Scott “stood beside Trump in support,” according to the Washington Post . But they also distanced themselves from the president when he made controversial statements in support of white supremacists violence in Charlottesville. And Love, a Haitian-American, also had issues with the president when he identified Haiti as one of the “sh**hole countries” Black countries. The congresswoman has been embroiled in a campaign finance scandal which likely contributed to her tight race. She was in hot water with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) over her team improperly raising more than a million dollars for a primary election that was never expected to happen. Love has fought hard to retain her congressional seat—including playing the race card . She went on Fox News radio in September and accused the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee of targeting her seat because she’s Black. “They do not like the fact that I am a Black female Republican doing everything I possibly can to talk about the issues that help people go from the lowest common denominator up,” Love said in the interview. Taylor Swift shocked most of the free world several weeks ago when she came out of the woods and threw her support behind a pair of Democratic political candidates in Tennessee. In a heartfelt and lengthy Instagram post, the singer endorsed Jim Cooper for House of Representatives in her native state and Phil Bredesen for Senate. How did her preferred nominees do? Well… Cooper defeated Jody Bell by a whopping 35 points in what was clearly a not very competitive race. But Bredesen failed to help Democrats gain a majority over Republicans in the Senate. He lost by about 14 points to Marsha Blackburn. Oh well, right? You can’t win ’em all and the important thing is that Swift used her platform for something she believes in, prompting an enormous surge in voter registration by doing so . Nope, sorry. That wasn’t the important thing according to at least one Conservative pundit out there. Fox News host Laura Ingraham took to Twitter after Bredsen’s failed bid to rub his loss in the face of the pop star, something totally normal and mature for her to do. “Hey @taylorswift13, haters gonna hate. #shakeitoff,” Ingraham wrote following the election results. Ingraham has a history of going after young singer, as she previously labeled Ariana Grande as spoiled and entitled . In this case, however, she wasn’t the only famous person to cite Swift’s endorsement in her summary of the midterm elections. Stephen Colbert also poked fun at the Tennessee Senator outcome during his live episode of The Late Show. “I guess Tay-Tay didn’t have that much sway-sway, and Blackburn’s support for the Trump administray-stray eventually outweighed-weigh the president’s support for higher teacher pay-pay at the end of the day-day,” he joked. He poorly joked, we should add. After failing to offer her support for Hillary Clinton in 2016, and after remaining silent for years on basically all social issues, Swift took social media followers by surprise exactly one month ago. “In the past I’ve been reluctant to publicly voice my political opinions, but due to several events in my life and in the world in the past two years, I feel very differently about that now,” she wrote at the outset of her unexpected endorsement at the time. She continued: “I always have and always will cast my vote based on which candidate will protect and fight for the human rights I believe we all deserve in this country. I believe in the fight for LGBTQ rights, and that any form of discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender is WRONG. “I believe that the systemic racism we still see in this country towards people of color is terrifying, sickening and prevalent.” What issues did Taylor have with eventual winner Blackburn? “She voted against equal pay for women. She voted against the Reauthorization of the Violence Against Women Act, which attempts to protect women from domestic violence, stalking, and date rape. “She believes businesses have a right to refuse service to gay couples. She also believes they should not have the right to marry. “These are not MY Tennessee values.” In the end, Swift’s message earned her mockery from Donald Trump and a few others out there. But we hope she was not dismayed from getting more involved in the future. She has a very powerful voice. It would be a shame if she chose not to use it. In recent weeks, we've been reporting on Josh Duggar's comeback tour . While the Duggars have not made their intentions explicit, it seems clear that they're working toward rebuilding their disgraced son's reputation in the hope that fans will be able to overlook Josh's sex crimes. That seems unlikely, but it's not stopping Jim Bob and Michelle from pulling out all the stops. Of course, if the Duggars have learned anything over the years it's that nothing distracts their fans from scandal quite like a new baby. According to official police reports, it was not a very merry Tuesday afternoon for former Big Brother contestant Christmas Abbott. TMZ and Us Weekly both confirm that the 36-year old reality star turned herself into Tampa authorities yesterday, at which time she was booked for felony criminal mischief. For what rather incredible and violent reason? Scroll down to find out! Based on records obtained by TMZ, Abbott drove to a local Florida gym back in August in order to confront her baby daddy’s alleged side piece. Cops say that Abbott then flew into a complete rage, asking all kinds of questions of this unnamed woman prior to throwing a cup of coffee in her direction. But that wasn’t all. Christmas then rammed into the alleged victim’s car in the parking lot with her own. Abbott was eight months pregnant with her first child at the time, a boy who would be born a few weeks later and named Loyal. The boy’s father is Benjamin Bunn, a fellow fitness enthusiast who is no longer with the Big Brother Season 19 third-place finisher. TMZ quotes this same police report in stating that Abbott called the other woman a “pathetic home-wrecking little slut,” among other insults. She believed at the time of the confrontation that the woman was sleeping with Bunn, even though Bunn told Us Weekly last month that he and Abbott ended their romance last December. “Unfortunately, I had very little contact with Christmas in the last few months of her pregnancy,” Bunn told this tabloid, adding in October: “However, prior to that, we spent almost every day with each other for six to seven months straight. I went to every doctor’s appointment, accompanied her for travel, moved furniture and did all the things that two caring adults do with and for each other… “I was finally able to reach her a few days before [her] due date. I found out she was being induced through Instagram, and shortly thereafter received an email.” But back to Abbott’s arrest: The responding officer on the scene says Abbott kept yelling at her man’s mistress while the officer tried to calm her down. Cops declined to process her because she was so far along, although her vehicle was seized and the sides agrees that Abbott could turn herself in at a later date. And this is what she did on Tuesday. As previously mentioned, Abbott came in third place during season 19 of Big Brother. addition to her stint on the CBS reality show, Christmas is well-known for being a series CrossFit competitor – and she was actually the first female NASCAR pit crew member. How cool and random, right?!? Hours after her arrest, meanwhile, Abbott shared a video of son Loyal Atticus sleeping on her chest. “How could I ever get enough of that sweet smile,” she wrote along with it. “I literally can stare and watch him all day long just to watch him & maybe see a lil laugh or giggle. He simply lights up my heart & makes me so fulfilled!”
If you have to visit Florida for some reason, St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park should be on your list of sights to see. But you should visit during normal visiting hours. And you definitely shouldn't jump into the crocodile pit like Florida Man did. That's right, folks. Florida Man is at it again. On Tuesday morning, discarded clothes and a floating Croc shoe were found floating in the St. Augustine Alligator Farm Zoological Park crocodile pit. As you can imagine, employees of the St. Augustine alligator farm were alarmed and confused. The pit is home to three 12-foot Nile crocodiles. Hopes that the clothes were put there as an ill-conceived prank were soon dashed. They found blood. Employees looked at security video, which showed a man break into the farm and jump off of a roof into the crocodile exhibit. When employees called the police in concern, police had just received another strange call. Officers had responded to an incident involving a man wearing only his underwear. People had seen a strange man crawling “in a concealed manner” while wearing almost nothing and had very correctly called the police. Not only did surveillance footage confirm that this was the man who had broken into the alligator farm, but it was pretty obvious. The man's legs and feets had sustained serious injuries, believed to have been caused by crocodiles. It seems likely that the man's bites, from a crocodile species native to Africa rather than from alligators, would have linked him to the break-in even without the video. This particular Florida Man was identified as Brandon Keith Hatfield. The story that he told to police was nothing short of outlandish. Hatfield claimed that he had been attacked by an alligator. He didn't say that it was a wild alligator, but instead claimed that he had encountered an old man who was walking an alligator on a leash. Hatfield claimed that he was suddenly “surrounded by all these baby alligators.” That bizarre tale would never have explained his injuries under scrutiny. On top of the evidence that he leapt into the crocodile exhibit, it looks like Hatfield is accused of causing property damage. He allegedly “damaged numerous exhibits and statues around the complex causing an excess of $5,000 in damage.” Jay Ruditis, head of security for alligator farm, verbally narrated the security footage. “Watch behind him, there’s a croc trying to attack him,” Jay says. “Now it’s dragging him,” he narrates. “He will get on the shore. It’s got his foot right now.” “It has a good hold on his leg. It’s kind of pulling him in,” he continues. “The croc will flip him, a little death roll in a moment.” Death rolls are how crocodiles disorient, exhaust, and drown their prey. They also use the maneuver to tear off meat from large corpses. “The croc still has him, so what he does is tries to kick it with his foot,” Jay concludes. Apparently, Hatfield ended up on the lawn of a neighboring property. “A little weird to see somebody that early in just boxers,” a neighbor remakred. “Going over your wall into your property saying ‘I was held hostage in a pool with gators” “He says, ‘Yeah, I got bit by alligators.’” the neighbor shares. “Everybody’s looking at him like, ‘OK, he’s got to be on something,'” Police have acknowledged that “he was possibly high on something” Hatfield has been charged with Burglary, Criminal Mischief, and Violation of Probation We can't claim to be shocked to our cores that this guy was on probation. We're glad that he survived, but a little surprised that any Florida Man would apparently mistake crocodiles for alligators. Alligators are opportunistic predators that will absolutely eat a human if given the chance. But in general, Floridians see them as a nuisance more than anything else. Like, “oh, one got in the pool again.” Nile crocodiles are one of the largest and most dangerous predators on the face of the planet. These things eat lions. If we had to guess, we would say that Hatfield only escaped because these captive crocs are well fed and had little motivation. We're glad that the crocodiles are okay. They, we should remember, are the true innocents in this story.
A few months ago, Ariana Grande fell hard for Pete Davidson. Then, this week on Ellen, Ariana Grande nearly fell hard while singing about Pete Davidson. The beloved pop star took to the aforementioned talk show host's stage on Wednesday morning in order to sing, for the first time in front of actual people, the new tune “Thank U, Next.” This single has received plenty of attention of late because it was written about multiple ex-boyfriend of Grande's, including Davidson, to whom she was engaged for most of the summer. It was also released just a short time before Davidson commented on the couple's break-up during a segment on Weekend Update just a few days ago. Decked out in all white while belting out the anthem alongside friends Tayla Parx and Victoria Monet, Grande may have been taking a slight jab at Davidson by making it look like she was at a wedding. Then, she stepped up on a chair, sang a bit more, stepped down… stumbled and nearly crashed to the floor. “Oh my God!” you can hear Ariana say in the video featured here, even though she did recover and went on to complete the performance. Later on, the rendition grew especially emotional for Grande during a verse about her parents. “One day I’ll walk down the aisle. Holding hands with my mama,” Ariana sang, through tears. “I’ll be thanking my dad. ‘Cause she grew from the drama.” Grande, of course, has been through a ton over the past couple years. She was on stage in Manchester when a bomb exploded in the arena and killed over 20 fans. Her serious ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, then recently died of a drug overdose . Grande was engaged to Davidson at the time of this tragic death, only for that relationship to conclude and for the exes to end up on terrible terms . While the rest of the country was busy getting angry at their TV screens last night, Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott were making far more productive use of their time. Or perhaps we should say reproductive use of their time … Yes, Kylie and Travis engaged in some serious sexy time last night. And the cosmetics mogul made sure her 47 bajillion Instagram followers knew exactly what was going down. Kylie posted the video below to her page last night, and it’s basically the prequel to a sex tape. Kylie Receives Roses As you can see, Travis surprised Kylie with every rose in the greater Los Angeles area. He also played his 2013 song “Hell Of a Night” in case there was still somehow any doubt about exactly what he had in mind for the remainder of the evening. “Hell of a way to end the night,” Kylie captioned the video. Apparently, Travis is quite the romantic, as this is not the first time that he’s surprised his billionaire girlfriend with a truly ridiculous amount of foliage. After Kylie gave birth to daughter Stormi , Travis surprised her with 443 roses, a reference to the fact that Stormi entered the world at 4:43 pm. If you’re wondering about the point at which romantic gestures cross the line into obsessive-compulsive territory, that might be it. Of course, in addition to being the mother of his child, Kylie is a near-billionaire and one of the most famous people on the planet, so it’s not hard to see why Travis might be inclined toward extravagant gestures. Obviously, Scott is accomplished in his own right, but these days it’s hard to match any of the Kardashian women in terms of fame, wealth, and influence. Kanye is the Kard clan spouse to even come close, and in order to get there, he had to become so famous that it drove him insane. Anyway, congrats to Kylie and Travis on the smash session. We just hope they used some sort of protection. After all, raising kids is expensive, and we’d hate to see them be forced to get second jobs and whatnot.
