Rihanna knows all too well that fame comes with its downsides — like that horny stalker who broke into her house . But it also has its upsides. As one of the most talented singers in the world, Rihanna was invited to do the Superbowl Halftime Show. Rihanna said no, though — because she supports Colin Kaepernick. Us Weekly reports that Rihanna turned down an offer to perform at the Superbowl Halftime Show. “The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” the insider reveals. Rihanna, the actress, singer, and beauty mogul, said no. Her reason, the source says, is because she “supports Colin Kaepernick.” Kaepernick is currently at odds with the NFL over their policy against kneeling during the Anthem, and over their icing him out of his football career. To be clear, the report says that Rihanna was approached to do this — she didn’t just announce that she wouldn’t do it. “They offered it to her,” the insider says. “But,” the source explains. “She said no because of the kneeling controversy.” For a time, it looked like the NFL would take the moral high ground for once and defend its players and support their freedom of expression. Instead, the NFL caved to the demands of some of its viewers out of fear of lower ratings. The insider says of Rihanna: “She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.” Colin Kaepernick is the face of the countless NFL players who knelt in protest during the Anthem. The kneeling is a silent, peaceful protest of racial injustice and particularly of the killing of unarmed black people by police, most of whom seem to escape justice. This controversial protest earned him a spot as GQ ‘s 2017 Man of the Year . It has also earned him infamy as the target of vitriolic racists. Though he is now the face of Nike, Kaepernick’s football career took a nosedive as teams refused to hire him. In 2017, he filed a grievance against the NFL, accusing the organization of colluding in order to prevent him from being hired despite his athletic record. That Rihanna is taking a stand on this is huge, actually. The NFL Halftime show is the biggest and most talked about musical performance of any given year. (In fact, those of us who don’t watch sports at all still generally tune in to the Halftime Show, either because we like the performer or out of fear of missing out) Rihanna may not need the money or the visibility, but turning down the Halftime Show just to take a stand is … a huge power move. It’s also just plain ballsy. No offense to Pete Davidson, but nobody radiates “big dick energy” like Rihanna. The NFL has a controversial history — so much so that it has been characterized by some as a criminal enterprise. There have been alleged cover-ups of domestic abuse committed by players. There have been alleged cover-ups of vital medical information that shows the irreversible brain damage that playing football does to the human brain. There’s the massively unjust the way that professional cheerleaders are treated. There’s the way that the NFL relies upon taxpayers to foot the bill for what should be private costs. And now, the organization has caved to hate and ignorance instead of standing up for the players. There are very few talents in this world who can follow an act like Rihanna. You don’t even need all of the fingers on one hand to count them. According to Us Weekly, the Halftime Show may go to Cardi B. “She is definitely being considered,” an insider claims. “But it’s obviously way too early to say for sure.” Says the source: “Pepsi, the NFL, and Cardi are all interested in her performing more than just her ‘Girls Like You’ verse.” That sounds like someone’s throwing a little shade. Paris Jackson has been through quite a lot in her young life. Of course, she’s also enjoyed privileges and opportunities that most folks can only dream of. We mention this not because we begrudge Paris her wealth and fame but because the latest news about the 20-year-old’s personal life has fans concerned that her personal fortune may be in danger. Paris has been dating drummer Gabriel Glenn for the past several months. The couple met when Gabriel was hired into Paris’ band, the Soundflowers. According to Radar Online, Paris’ family is deeply concerned about her new relationship, primarily because Paris and Glenn are already talking marriage. “Paris told certain family members that she truly believes that Gabriel is the one and she wants to marry him,” a source close to the Jackson family says. “She and Gabriel have been going strong for several months and she feels a deep connection with him.” Most recently, Paris dated Cara Delevingne , and it seems her shift in preference has also been a cause of concern for certain influential family members. Sadly, Paris’ beloved grandmother has some outdated beliefs, and she’s expressed skepticism about Paris’ ability to make decisions regarding her own sexuality and love life. “The family is all very confused at this point,” the insider says. “One second, she is a lesbian and dating; the next second, she is straight and dating her bandmate.” But despite her apparent confusion, Katherine Jackson is less concerned with granddaughter’s sexuality than with her financial future — a future that she feels is in jeopardy due to Paris’ insistence on getting married without a prenup. “No one cares what she is everyone just wants to know that she is okay,” says the source. “Gabriel does not have the best reputation and some of her family members feel like he could be using her. “They just want her to be careful.” Sadly, Michael Jackson’s only daughter has been down this road before. In a teaser clip for T.I. & Tiny: Friends and Family Hustle , Toya expressed her concerns about Reginae and Lucci’s relationship. “I don’t like the age difference,” Toya said. “I don’t like the fact that he have four kids because I mean, you trying to be stepmom, honey?” Reginae, 19, is nine years younger than Lucci and the couple often display their romance on social media. Toya knows first hands the struggles of dating a man in the industry and warned her daughter about the lifestyle that comes along with it. “You know how I feel about that whole rapper thing,” she added. “I dated your dad when I was younger than that and there’s a whole lot that comes with that lifestyle. Jonathan and Fernanda Jonathan is a 32-year-old native of Lumberton, North Carolina, but when he met 19-year-old Fernanda in a club in Mexico, he extended his vacation to spend more time with her. Three months later, he proposed. 2. But . . . They have a 13-year age gap and one of them is literally a teenager. They’re both adults, but hooking up on vacation is very different from getting married. Fernanda’s youth definitely comes up, while Jonathan is learning to leave behind his bachelor lifestyle. 3. Ashley and Jay Ashley (32) and Jay (20) met while she was in Jamaica for a friend’s wedding. They struck up a conversation on social media afterwards, and then she went back to visit him again. He proposed to her after only 8 days. 4. But … On top of the age difference between these two, there are concerns by Ashley’s loved ones that Jay may be a cheater. On Saturday, Jenelle Evans was rushed to the hospital after being assaulted at her home in North Carolina. While details of the incident remain scarce, it's been widely assumed that Jenelle was attacked by her husband, David Eason. In the days since news of the altercation went public, however, Jenelle went into damage control mode and attempted to sell a version of events in which Eason is not the culprit. Fans aren't buying it — and it looks as though Jenelle may have decided it's easier to hide out for a while than to try and convince them: 1. Angry Eason Eason’s temper is notorious, so when word got out that police and an ambulance were called to Jenelle’s home in response to an assault, fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that he had attacked Jenelle. 2. Damning Evidence It has not been confirmed that Jenelle is the victim, but according to The Ashley’s Reality Roundup, a woman made the 911 call and informed the operator an assault had taken place. 3. Downplaying the Severity According to officials, Jenelle declined the services of EMTs, but was transported to a nearby hospital in “a private vehicle.” 4. Saving David Shortly after news of the incident went public, Jenelle set about the business of trying to convince fans that there’s no cause for concern and that David is innocent of any wrongdoing. 5. A Strange Defense Jenelle hired someone to issue a statement claiming that her injuries are the result of an accident, and the whole thing is a big misunderstanding. 6.
