S tacey Dash found another member of Trump’s cult to marry. Reportedly, she tied the knot with lawyer and conspiracy theorist Jeffrey Marty . Page Six reports they married in April, just 10 days after meeting. Steven Smith of Georgia, the first “congressman” to endorse Donald Trump and a Tea Party gadfly who generates outrage in the Twitterverse, despite constant reminders that he is fictitious.” He is also a conspiracy theorist, telling a reporter two years ago , “There are a lot of people that have died mysteriously around [Hillary Clinton]. When they were supposed to testify against her — three or four different people. Within a week.” Marty allegedly lives in Florida, while Dash lives in California, so they appear to have a long distance marriage. This is the fourth marriage for 51-year-old Dash. She married producer Brian Lovell in 1999 and divorced by the mid-2000s. She then married British executive James Maby , CEO of Sports Logistics, in 2005, but divorced by 2006. Her last marriage was to actor Emmanuel Xeureb , it’s not clear when they married, but they divorced by 2010. Dash has two kids, a son named Austin who was born in 1991 whom she had with singer Christopher Williams . Also, a daughter named Lola was born in 2003 from her first marriage. B arack Obama took the stage for his farewell speech mere days after Donald Trump had been elected president of the United States in 2016. The 44th president tried his best to instill hope and faith in his followers who had been dealt a blow of fear and despair. He spoke about civil action and voicing our concerns when the government fails us. At one point, when Obama mentioned the future President Donald Trump, members of the crowd started to boo. His response was short, off-the-cuff and enlightening about the outgoing president’s ideals: “Don’t boo, vote.” This has been Obama’s doctrine for more than a decade, and to be fair, a go-to one-stop solution offered up mostly to minority populations as the ways to initiate change in America. This isn’t new. One of the pillars of the civil rights movement was making sure that African-Americans could secure the right to vote. An incalculable amount of men and women died for that right to cast ballots in elections. My father risked his life fighting for voting rights. I understand the vast importance of the changes that can occur in America if people have a passion for voting. But I also understand that acting like voting is the final solution to the problems poisoning America is an oversimplified dismissal of what Black people have had to endure to simply survive. And having faith in America’s so-called democracy is an act of naïveté and self-sabotage. American politics doesn’t act on fairness. It never has, and as soon as Black people secured the right to vote, the country worked overtime to find ways to take those rights away, either by stripping that right via mass incarceration or straight-up changing rules to nullify the impacts of Black votes. In short, the war against Black voting rights never ended and the weeks and days leading up to the 2018 midterms is a testament to how much this country – namely the GOP – wants to make Black voting ineffective. In Georgia, for instance, Republican Secretary Of State and GOP candidate for governor, Brian Kemp, has purged 53,000 names from voter registration lists – more than 70 percent of those were African-American despite the fact the state is a little more than 30 percent Black. Since 2014, the state has shut down 214 polling places, mostly in predominately Black counties. Florida is suppressing more than half a million voters . A study from the Brennan Center For Justice found that New York, Virginia, North Carolina and Florida have engaged in illegal purges, while Arizona, Alabama, Maine and Indiana have put rules on the books that violate the Civil Rights Act in order to suppress votes. Officials at polling places no longer have to make potential voters ask how many bubbles are on a bar of soap anymore as policies achieving the same purpose are now baked into official laws across the country. But what happens if we do actually get to cast a ballot on Election Day? American policy has failsafes in place to minimize the impact of Black votes. The electoral college was instituted as a compromise to give southern states heightened voting power to account for their population of slaves. That same electoral college allowed the last two Republican presidential candidates to ascend to the White House despite the fact they didn’t win the popular vote. The Senate, which allocates two votes per state, dilutes popular votes, as well. By 2040 , two-thirds of the Senate will represent a mere 30 percent of the U.S. population. Think about this: Due to the population differences between Alaska and California and the fact they each still get the same amount of Senate representatives, a Senate vote in Alaska is worth more than 50 times a vote in California. However, the narrative around voting needs to change. Black people, for the most part, don’t pass on voting because they are lazy or complacent. Voting numbers are rarely if ever a reflection of how much Black people care. On the contrary, voting numbers are reflections of the continued effort to suppress Black people’s rights to have a say in what happens in regards to American policy. Every Black vote is a testament to perseverance and overcoming a system that doesn’t want us stepping foot in voting booths. Every missed Black vote is a reflection of the country succeeding in suppression. When Obama admonished to “don’t boo, vote,” he was displaying the faith he has in America – the same faith that got him elected and the same faith that kept him from believing Donald Trump could be president until it was too late. However, “just” voting isn’t enough. Don’t boo, vote. Don’t boo, resist. Don’t boo, march. Don’t boo, speak up. Don’t boo, live. This is how we survive in America. Source: Maria Aufmuth / Getty Serena Williams Reveals She Struggles With Self-Doubts As A Mom Serena Williams was one of several speakers at the Pennsylvania Conference for Women where she talked motherhood , disparities in health outcomes between black and white moms, and more. You’ll recall Serena nearly died after giving birth to her adorable daughter, Alexis Olympia . In an article written for CNN back in February, she revealed: “First my C-section wound popped open due to the intense coughing I endured as a result of the embolism. I returned to surgery, where the doctors found a large hematoma, a swelling of clotted blood, in my abdomen. And then I returned to the operating room for a procedure that prevents clots from traveling to my lungs.” At the time, Serena also spoke about Black moms-to-be not getting proper care: “According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, black women in the United States are over three times more likely to die from pregnancy or childbirth-related causes. But this is not just a challenge in the United States. Around the world, thousands of women struggle to give birth in the poorest countries. When they have complications like mine, there are often no drugs, health facilities or doctors to save them. If they don’t want to give birth at home, they have to travel great distances at the height of pregnancy.” Now, according to The Philly Voice , she told some 10,000 women on Friday: “I did some research and I was alarmed that our black mothers are not being taken care of. It’s in this country that is supposed to be so technologically advanced. RODRIGO ARANGUA/AFP/Getty Images Friends And Family Are Left In Shock A woman in Panama City met a tragic end when she tried to take a selfie on a balcony. According to Metro , 44-year-old Sandra Manuela Da Costa Macedo was trying to take a selfie on the 27th-floor balcony of a building last Friday. Police sources say a gust of wind must have knocked Macedo off balance and she fell to her death with her selfie stick still in hand. Nearby, construction workers filmed the whole incident, worried that Macedo would fall during her photo session. You can check out the distressing video they filmed here . Macedo, who is said to be a teacher and mom of two, had just moved to Panama City from Portugal. Friends and acquaintances posted tributes to her online when news hit of her tragic death. Erick Alzate, a witness who lives on the same block the incident took place, gave more insight into the tragedy. “She had been taking selfies for a couple of minutes and construction workers on a block opposite were shouting to her to be careful,” said Alzate. “She decided to sit on the railing for the last selfie and that’s when she went over the edge.” Many of the reactions on social media ranged from condolences to disappointment, according to Metro . One person wrote, “Rest in peace. Such a stupid way to die,” while a Jose Guillermo wrote, “Peace for her soul and strength for her family.” Maria del Carmen wrote, “Such a tragedy that such a beautiful lady like you loses their life this way. My sincere condolences for your loved ones.” After Macedo’s tragic incident, Panama’s Fire Service posted a warning on its official Twitter page which said, “Don’t risk your life for a selfie. It’s more important to lose a minute in life than your life in a minute.”

T he Black community has felt the wrath of racial bias when trying to generate upward mobility in America. We’re hit hard by the ever-growing racial wealth gap where for every $100 in white family wealth, African Americans only hold $5.04. Many of us have also experienced the impact of institutionalized racism when applying for loans, seeking jobs, and trying to further our education. Shawn D. Rochester , financial literacy expert and author of the acclaimed book The Black Tax: The Cost of Being Black in America , is aiming to change the narrative about Black wealth by educating and empowering our communities. Rochester—who has dedicated his career to teaching disenfranchised groups how to progress financially—believes that overcoming the racial wealth gap starts with exposing individuals to the basics of financial literacy and circulating the Black dollar in Black communities. “We are missing 6 million jobs, 1.4 million businesses with staff and over $8 trillion of net worth in the Black Community. The Black Tax provides that understanding in a powerful and paradigm shifting, data-driven way and lays out an economic framework that we can use to address these massive gaps,” said Rochester in a statement. “We have spent far too much time focusing almost exclusively on civil and social issues, it is time to focus on economic advancement, business development and employment in our community specifically.” Rochester will delve into the impact of racism—both past and present—at an upcoming black economic empowerment breakfast hosted by the Harlem Business Alliance ; a non-profit organization focused on education, equity, and entrepreneurship. “When it comes to accumulating wealth in America, there has never been a level playing field for the Black Community. We are calling on community leaders, influencers and entrepreneurs to rally their base,” said Regina Smith , Executive Director, Harlem Business Alliance. “The systemic and institutionalized racism stemming from centuries of slavery and the Jim Crow era continues to have a devastating impact on our community.” The breakfast is slated to take place on October 17. There has been a major push to economically empower the Black community. Entrepreneur Sheena Allen , 29, launched an online banking platform called CapWay as an avenue to help underserved communities learn more about the importance of financial literacy. The publication is reporting that Barba was arrested earlier this week, on the morning of October 11 while in Norfolk, VA. She is being charged with heroin distribution of more than 100 grams, which is a felony in the state along with carrying a sentence of up to 40 years in prison–some pretty serious business. The time that Barba spent on Idol wasn’t very long, but she still managed to make a big impact on fans. The singing hopeful made it to the cusp of the show’s top 12 round before being eliminated in a season that ultimately ended up being won by none other than Jordin Sparks. Antonella’s short stint on the competition also managed to stir up a bit of controversy after photos of her posing in a wet t-shirt while in Washington D.C.’s National World War II Museum Memorial fountain were surfacing around the internet. Since being eliminated from the competition so many years back, Barba has only appeared on national television a few more times. She competed on Fear Factor in 2012, where the show oddly made absolutely no mention of her being a former American Idol contestant at all. She also appeared in a recent sketch on Jimmy Kimmel Live! that pulled together former Idol contestants for a musical “Where Are They Now?” segment. This also isn’t Barba’s first confrontation with the law–Before her Fear Factor appearance 6 years ago, she was busted for shoplifting in New York City in 2011. As far as American Idol goes, the original run of the program lasted 15 seasons before Fox pulled the plug back in April 2016. The show returned for a 16th season on ABC earlier this year, with its old panel of judges wiped out and replaced with Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie.

According to the Miami Herald , Justin Foster of Tallahassee reportedly flew to Chicago this past August to confront his ex-girlfriends new boyfriend. Foster allegedly approached the man on the street, hit him in the head with a tire iron, carved initials into his leg and then cut off his penis.The victim was later found by someone else on the street and rushed to the hospital, where officials say he is also suffering from permanent brain damage as a result of the attack. Foster allegedly fled to Tallahassee and then was arrested on and brought back to Chicago. After initially being held with no bond, a judge granted him a $1 million dollar bond Thursday, which allowed him to be released while awaiting trial.

Though the details of his child’s condition have yet to be revealed, by Rza’s demeanor it sounds like the situation was pretty serious. Reportedly the Wu-Tang rapper became increasingly angry and unhappy with the level of care his son was receiving in the ER and eventually started screaming at the hospital staff on duty at the time. RZA’s temper allegedly became so aggressive that a supervisor at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center was forced to call the police to deescalate the situation. But when police arrived on the scene, RZA had reportedly already calmed down and police left the hospital without issuing a citation. RZA and his son are still reportedly at the hospital.
