Duggar Sisters Score Major Victory In Sex Scandal Lawsuit

It’s been four years since the world learned that  Josh Duggar molested five young girls while he was still in his teens. The revelation of the crime — along with the fact that four of Josh’s victims were his sisters — sparked widespread outrage and calls for TLC to cut ties with the family. At first, the boycott threats appeared to be effective. TLC canceled 19 Kids and Counting , which at the time was the bedrock of the Duggars’ media empire. But remarkably, the family managed to make a comeback, and within a year, the entire Duggar clan — sans Josh, of course — had returned to the network that made them famous with the 19 Kids spinoff Counting On. Most celebrities in a similar position would have been eager to sweep the entire incident under the carpet — but not the Duggars. No, from the very start, the Duggars have made it clear that they intend to seek revenge on the legal authorities and media outlets who they feel are responsible for Josh’s sex scandal. Josh Duggar has filed suit against Springdale, Arkansas police department for releasing information regarding the case, as well as against In Touch Weekly for being the first to publish that information. All of his claims have been thrown out of court, and a judge recently ordered Josh to stop filing lawsuits . But the judge did not issue a similar command to Josh’s victims. Yes, from the very start, the Duggars have maintained a united front with regard to Josh’s sex crimes, and four of his sisters — Jill Duggar Dillard, Jessa Duggar Seewald, Jinger Duggar Vuolo, and Joy Duggar — have now filed a suit accusing In Touch of violating their privacy. Today, those sisters scored a major legal victory when a judge threw out the opposing counsel’s motion to have their case dismissed. While the tabloid’s coverage of the crimes never mentioned the sisters by name, the judge stated today that In Touch did publish “other identifying information,” which would make it possible for interested parties to determine the identities of four of the five victims. “The content and circumstances of these disclosures do not just meet the standard of ‘shockingly degrading or egregiously humiliating,’ they illustrate them,” the judge wrote. With this legal hurdle cleared, it’s now far more likely that In Touch will offer the Duggars a cash settlement. So while the suit was not filed by Josh, it now looks as though the man who launched this scandal will finally receive the revenge he’s been seeking. We’ll continue to update you on this developing story as more information becomes available. View Slideshow: Josh Duggar Sex Scandal Timeline: How His Family’s Empire Crumbled

Landon Clements Defends Ashley Jacobs: She’s Not as Bad as You Think!

Ashley Jacobs made her controversial return to  Southern Charm  on Wednesday. Naturally, she caught a plenty of flak from fans who were not pleased to see her return after all the drama with Thomas Ravenel . But co-star Landon Clements showed up to declare herself for team Ashley, and she’s telling the haters to back off! On the night of Ashley’s return to the series, Landon took to Instagram in solidarity, posting a photo of herself with Ashley. It’s a lovely, simple black and white shot of the two girls smiling and just being buds.  Landon added a supportive caption to the post as well. “I wish everyone got to meet the girl I know,” Landon captions. Simple and to the point, for sure, but it wasn’t enough to sway most of the fans in the comments. “She should’ve acted like the girl you know,” responded one fan with a sassy, winking emoji. Others were so offended by the show of support, they were ready to lump Landon in with Ashley “Kathryn was right about Landon this whole time,” said one commentor. They went on to add, “And to think most of us thought Landon was the southern belle and Kathryn was the crazy one.” But Landon clapped back to set the record straight. “Give Kathryn a google,” Landon replied, adding that she was “sadly up to her old ways.” Kathryn is still in the midst of a vicious custody battle with Thomas Ravenel, who dated and left her before moving on to Ashley. Landon and Ashley have both been creepily supportive of Thomas, who was arrested in 2018 for sexually assaulting his children’s nanny. Thomas is understandably no longer allowed on  Southern Charm , so Ashley is on-hand to replace him as a drama surrogate. She may mean well, but Landon has a habit of defending people in the most tone-deaf way possible. She shockingly dismissed the sexual assault allegations aimed at Thomas to Us Weekly , saying, “I know in my heart that Thomas is a good person.” “Whatever happened, happened,” she said, adding, “I wasn’t there that night.” These remarks are textbook examples of rape culture, and illustrate a tragically common failure of some women to support one another in the face of abuse. That said, it’s encouraging to see Landon come to Ashley’s defense here in this moment of social media sisterhood. Unfortunately for Landon, some fans weren’t willing to forget how Ashley had treated the other women on the show. “She called Kathryn an egg donor,” one user recalled, referencing a previous fight between Ashley and Kathryn. “Any mother would understand how vile and vicious those words are,” the commentor added. But Landon soon responded in defense of those “vile” words. “I think she meant her behavior reduced her to simply an egg donor when those words were said,” Landon recalled about the remarks, as though that changes their meaning. “Ashley was indeed spending more time with [Kathryn’s] kids than her,” Landon explained, adding “It’s all just so sad.” Being loyal to your friends is a great quality. Standing up for friends when others are calling them out is often a great quality too. But it’s important to be able to see past that loyalty and tell your loved ones that what they did was wrong. Landon’s heart may be in the right place, but she needs to choose her battles a little more carefully. View Slideshow: Kathryn Dennis: I Can PROVE Thomas Ravenel is an Unstable Liar!

*EXCLUSIVE* Tommie Lee On ‘Abuse’ Accusations + Drinking: ‘I’m 4 Months Sober’

Visit link:

Source: Nagina Lane / iONEDigital Tommie Lee is visibly nervous as she takes her seat in the conference room where our interview is set to take place. She is clad in a lace bodysuit with fabric wing like apparatuses lining her arms and silhouette. The custom-made piece is how we’re used to seeing her — flamboyant and over-the-top. Her eyes aren’t hidden behind sunglasses. A clear sign she’s sober. “I wouldn’t consider myself an alcoholic. I’ve gone to rehab. I’ve been 4 months sober now.” We applaud the former Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star. “I probably started drinking more filming the show,” says Tommie. “Dealing with family issues with my mom. That caused a lot of my stressors. It’s been my way to cope for a minute,” she admitted. Tommie’s drinking has seemingly been the source of her legal issues, but if you let her tell it, she’s not drinking because she’s an alcoholic. She’s drinking to cope with profound issues. Molested by her uncle; in and out of juvenile centers for running away at a young age; and a strained and toxic relationship with her mother have all contributed to Tommie’s dysfunction. “After seeing myself after the seasons and seeing how, in my real life, I just couldn’t deal to a certain extent because it was a lot of things hitting me at once, [drinking] was like a tranquilizer.” Source: Nagina Lane / iONEDigital She admits her fault in many of the situations we’ve seen play out in front of our eyes. “I’m not the victim, I’m usually the villain in the situation.” On January 7, 2019, Tommie was indicted on child abuse charges when it was reported she drunkenly “bashed” her daughters head into a school locker. The report, compounded with numerous jail stints and an abundance of mug shots, heightened the negative narrative surrounding the TV personality and fans, who supported her ready to throw in the proverbial towel. In layman’s terms, we were rooting for you took physical form. “Everything in that report was untrue,” says Tommie. “Physical abuse is the last form of punishment for children in my household. I can count the times I had to be physical with my children on my hand because I could take their phone  or put them on punishment. We have a good relationship.” But when Tommie’s 11-year-old daughter, an honor roll student, began getting in trouble at school, she panicked. It felt too familiar despite her sacrifices in life to give her children what she never had. Prior to the incident that led to her arrest, Tommie reveals her daughter had gotten ahold of edible marijuana treats, which she distributed to her classmates. Tommie received a call that students had to be hospitalized because they were high. She immediately lawyered up to prevent her daughter from facing further legal trouble. “I’m scared as hell,” she reveals. “Nobody said anything for a while then I got a letter in the mail from the police that the state was charging my daughter. I have a juvenile record for running away because my mother’s living conditions were f*cked up. Basically we lived in a shelter — my mom, her boyfriend and my family, she has seven kids. I was in high school. I was embarrassed. I used to get off the school bus at the apartments by the hotel next to us because I didn’t want anyone to know I was living in a hotel.” Her daughter’s brush with the law was triggering and Tommie handled it the most effective way she knew how. “I know what affected me the most when I was younger, me getting my ass whooped in school. I was chopping up chalk and saying it was coke and that my parents sold drugs and I was a dealer. My mother came to school and beat my a** in front of the whole gym and I knew I ain’t never want her to come back up to that school.” Prior to the incident in question, Tommie took her daughter on a road trip and had a heart-to-heart with the pre-teen. “I had a talk with my daughter that weekend, like ‘You have to do good. We got the lawyer but you can’t mess up at all. He’s going to make this go away but you can’t do anything bad, which I thought was understood.” That Tuesday, Tommie received another call and popped up at her daughter’s school to find her “lolligagging and laughing” in the nurses office. After refusing to take her teacher out of fear of being embarrassed, Tommie said she reacted. “I took her hoodie and I jacked her up against the locker.” She added, “I’m the last person who’s going to hurt my kids.” Following the incident, a resource officer took a warrant out on Tommie. She was later rearrested for “stalking” after her daughter told police she had been in contact with her. “My daughter thought she was helping me,” she explains. When asked if she had seen her mom, her daughter lied and said she had cooked her breakfast that morning. Technically, though a lie, it was a violation of her bond order. She was arrested again. “This situation really hurt me” she says fighting back tears. “It hurt my family.” Rehab allowed Tommie to self-reflect. While she doesn’t consider her relationship with alcohol on the level of others in treatment, it held a mirror up to her battle with depression. She realized “You have a real good chance to do something with your life and you can lose it all with one mistake.” Since being released just a week ago, Tommie says she’s focused on her music. “It’s therapy for me. I have a lot of truth in there. I have club sh*t you can vibe to. It’s a release for me My EP is coming soon. We’re going to finish what we started before all this happened. I have a song with Anthony Hamilton called Truth out now. She is also promoting her documentary that was originally supposed to chronicle the road to her EP. Instead it captured her during a turbulent time in her life. Watch it, here . As for returning to Love & Hip Hop Atlanta, Tommie is taking time for herself but would love to fight the narrative she built on TV with TV. “I appreciate the support from everybody.” RELATED STORIES *Update* Tommie Apologizes For Drunken Antics: ‘I Need Help And I Am Currently Seeking Treatment’ You OK Sis? Even though the band went into hiatus in the late 90’s, Spinderella continued promoting the band. But things took a turn in the early 2000s when she discovered there was a “best of” compilation album being released. Spinderella said Pepa told her that she would pay her $125,000 but that never happened. “By the early 2000s, the Defendants discussed with Roper an SNP reunion which would have possibly involved, among other things, a television show based on the legendary female group’s rise to stardom.” DJ Spinderella claims that she was promised a third of the group’s profits from the reality show. While she was featured on the show, she has yet to be paid. According to The Jasmine Brand , this lawsuit is a long-time coming. Eminem: Father of Rapper’s Adopted Daughter Sentenced to Prison

Even casual fans of Eminem’s music are familiar with the intense domestic drama that’s defined much of the rapper’s life. Following a tumultuous childhood characterized by neglect and abuse, Em — whose real name is Marshall Mathers — entered a famously unhealthy marriage with Kim Scott. Marshall and Kim weren’t married for long, but their relationship had an indelible impact on the hip hop legend’s life. Not only did the former couple have a daughter together, Mathers adopted Kim’s niece, Alaina, as well as her daughter Whitney from another relationship. As one of the wealthiest recording artists on the planet, Em was able to provide a better life for Kim’s niece and daughter. But he was not able to insulate them entirely from the challenges presented by their unstable families. According to a report published Friday by Radar Online, Whitney’s father, Eric Hartter, has been sentenced to several months in prison on drug charges. The decision was handed down while Hartter was already behind bars on unrelated charges. Back in December, the 40-year-old was arrested for allegedly stealing about $200 worth of Red Bull from a CVS store. While serving time for that crime, Hartter was arrested a second time for possession of felony contraband, including Fentanyl and methamphetamine. This week, the judge in Hartter’s case sentenced him to 153 days in jail. Hartter was credited for time served following his previous arrest, but he must still serve at least two months behind bars. While he has never been one of Whitney’s primary caretakers, insiders say Hartter has maintained a relationship with his daughter, who is said to be devastated by her father’s never-ending legal issues. No one with ties to Whitney or Eminem has commented publicly on the case. News of Hartter’s sentence comes just weeks after another tragic development in the Mathers family. Eminem’s father, Marshall Bruce Mathers passed away after suffering a massive heart attack last month. The younger Mathers was not on speaking terms of his father at the time of his death, It appears that Eminem is doing his best to reverse the trend of absentee father figures within his extended family. Sadly, it looks as though the process has often been a painful one. View Slideshow: Hailie Mathers: Lose Yourself in Eminem’s Daughter on Instagram!

HBCU Puts Focus On Mental Health So Students Can Thrive Academically

Read the original here:

A Texas-based historically Black college is ensuring that all of its students have the support and resources needed to overcome trauma developed from past experiences. According to Dallas News , Paul Quinn College has launched a mental health campaign to help students address internal obstacles so they can thrive academically. Paul Quinn College is taking a progressive approach to mental health that leaves no student behind. #StudentHealth #News https://t.co/BOuhKi2O84 — The Fix (@_TheFix) July 10, 2019 At one point the school had one of the lowest graduation rates in the country and that prompted faculty members to get to the root of the issue. With the help of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, they discovered that the core of the problem was trauma and many of the students were suffering from PTSD. Students were carrying the emotional burdens of tragic past experiences from their upbringings and environments and some were carrying the weight of being first-generation college students on their shoulders. “We thought we were doing good,” said Paul Quinn College president Michael Sorrell . “‘We’re bringing you out of that environment and you’ll be safe. And life will be great.’ … It took us a while to understand that that was a product of trauma.” With a grant given to the school by Gov. Greg Abbott , the institution has been able to launch several programs and initiatives under its campaign. Incoming freshman and transfer students have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a counselor and the school has an on-campus mental health center which is overseen by Dr. Stacia’ Alexander . The center is decorated with images of celebrities who have been transparent about their struggles with mental health so that the students can see themselves reflected. “The thing we’re trying to get students to understand is that those traumas are real,” Dr. Alexander told the news outlet. “And they do impair or affect how you process daily information. And if you continue to ignore that, you’re going to continue to be impaired and not reach your full potential.” In addition to the counseling, there are several wellness and fitness activities that take place on campus. Initiatives like the one being led at Paul Quinn College are needed. Studies show that over 20 percent of incoming college students have battled with mental health disorders. SEE ALSO: Taraji P. Amy Roloff: Little People, Big World is Fake!

Late last month, Amy Roloff made the astute observation that social media is not real . Many users out there pretend to be happy by sharing photos of them smiling or traveling or doing something cool when, in reality, these folks are living very regular lives or, sometimes, very un happy lives. Now, meanwhile, the long-time reality star has made headlines for saying something else is not real… … Little People, Big World itself! Amy has starred on the TLC program since the very beginning. It features her, ex-husband Matt and now, after son Jeremy left the series last summer, daughter-in-law Tori and another son, Zach. For the most part, Little People, Big World has been a huge success not because it depicts a great deal of drama between these Roloffs — but because it simply gives viewers an inside look at a cute family that seems to love each other a lot. But this isn’t always the case. And Amy just cited an example of when producers edited footage to make it appear as if something scandalous was afoot… when everything was actually just fine and dandy. On the most recent season, cameras followed Amy during a vacation she took with boyfriend Chris Marek. “I’m definitely enjoying the trip, but we did get into an argument,” Amy said at one point on this episode, adding: “When we were having dinner, he just left, and he was gone for a long time, and I was left by myself. I had no idea where he was, what we was doing… Ugh, I was so mad at him.” Fast forward to yesterday and the pictures – above and below – that Amy shared from a motorcycle ride she recently took with Marek, her serious boyfriend of about three years. When one fan asked: “Did he leave you alone in a restaurant again?” Amy replied: “No, and it’s amazing what editing can make a story into.” Wow, huh? This may not seem like a huge deal, but you almost never hear of a cast member flat-out admitting that the very show on which she stars is, essentially, fake. We can’t help but wonder how TLC executives are reacting to this quote. Not that it’s the first time such a thing has happened. Back in July of 2016, Jacob Roloff walked away from Little People, Big World, trashing his family members and also this same sort of editing in the process. “For the sake of ‘the episode’ and ratings I’ve seen a lot of STORYLINES drawn up (loosely) about our lives,” Jacob confessed at the time , adding in even more accusatory detail: “And when I was standing here, behind the scenes and watching it from an outside perspective I just couldn’t stop laughing. Laughing at how hard the producers have to try to get us to follow the talking points, and at how ridiculous the talking points are.” He even added: “The family that is filmed is not my famil. They are the Roloff Characters and I have scarcely anything in common with them, nor do I want to be a character myself.” Jacob has since made up with his loved ones, although he never really took back these remarks and no longer appears on the show. As for Amy? She’s been throwing unexpected haymakers all over the place these days! In a section of her new memoir, for example, Amy says Matt cheated on her with current girlfriend Caryn Chandler . “Matt and our farm manager, who had been working for us a number of years by then, seemed to have more than just a working relationship or friendship,” Roloff writes in this biography, adding in one charged chapter: “I saw messages, pictures, and other things that should not have been shared between people who just worked together and were still married to other people. “I was devastated.” Between this passage and Amy’s comment about how the series is edited… we’re suddenly more excited than ever for the new season of Little People, Big World.
