Uncuffed: 9 Anti-Cuffing SZN Songs To Blast This Cuffing Cycle

Source: Alexei Cruglicov / Getty The weather is changing. The coats are getting heavier. The sun goes down earlier. And the desire to be cuddled up, spending time with the one you like is at an all time high.   In millennial lingo, we summarize all those feels with one term: Cuffing Season. It feels like we were just flipping burgers on the grill for Labor Day — now folks are scanning their recent dating rosters to see who’s good enough to spend the majority of their time with for the next eight months or so. One Twitter user joked , “It’s cuffing season baby. time to lose ur sense of self and merge identities w another person bc it’s cold outside.” While some folks are scrambling to decide between their top three eligible candidates — some of us are just fine staying aboard the “single and lovin’ it” train. Bustle recently did an article on why Cuffing Season is an awesome time to be single, and it brought up many valid points. Heather Ebert , a dating and relationship expert at WhatsYourPrice.com, told the site, “Cuffing season is, in part, a result of societal pressure dating. A lot of it has to do with singles not wanting to show up alone when they go home for the holidays. Some people want to be showered with gifts … others just want to cuddle up next to someone to stay warm.” She added, “It’s easy to get caught up in the hype of cuffing season and rush to settle down for the winter.  But those romances are unlikely to outlast the cold because they’re rushed and usually not met with intentions of lasting any longer. Instead of focusing on settling down for the last part of the year, spend some time on yourself and with your family.”   It’s not just the experts who say Cuffing Season is nothing but hype. Shy_Charles recently tweeted, “Not being funny but cuffing season isn’t really a thing, is it? Like yeah the nights draw in and it’s Christmas and that but you’ve got Valentine’s straight after and then summer romances after that! Every season is cuffing season, let’s just be serious.”  Let’s do something a little different this go round, and celebrate the uncoupled and uncuffed this year with seriously Anti-Cuffing Season songs. If you’re super single, feel free to add your own to the list. via GIPHY

He was… In front of the Majestic hotel in Detroit; we used to call him ‘Detroit Red.’ [He] had his Italian suits on – that’s why when Spike Lee did Malcolm X, I said, ‘Malcolm couldn’t walk around the Blue Zoot’s marching down the street, he’s a dope dealer.’ He [Ray Charles] got me hooked for five months, at 15. After we’d finish the Washington Social club and a couple of other ones, we’d all go down to Jackson street to the Elks club. When they’d finish playing, everybody would go into a corner, Ray would let me get in the corner, and they had it on their thumb. I just snuck in a line and got me a little hit.” RELATED:  Quincy Jones Daughter To Co-Direct Netflix Doc About Her Dad Jones admits to falling down nearly five flights of steps because he was so high. Cardi B: I Could MURDER Nicki Minaj With Diss Tracks … But I Won’t

Last month, Cardi B literally attacked Nicki Minaj . Words flew, and so did shoes. This beef is intense. Fortunately, Cardi’s next planned attack will be in the form of music, not projectiles. And her diss track is coming along. But apparently her lyrics are so biting and insulting that her own crew is  begging her to tone it down. Cardi B is not happy with Nicki Minaj. This time, at least, her feud is going to be channeled into music. That’s what the fans want, and it should also help Cardi avoid getting arrested for assault again . But TMZ reports that though a lot from the diss track has been recorded, the people around Cardi are imploring her to remove some lyrics. The reason? Her lyrics are just too vicious. In fact, apparently some members of Cardi B’s team worry that this could backfire. Not every diss track destroys its intended target. Their fear is that Cardi’s lyrics might actually help Nicki, potentially by boosting her public image. This could mean that the lyrics are so cruel that people will feel sorry for Nicki. It could also mean that Cardi could just be giving Nicki more attention. Cardi’s team feel that her career has already surpassed Nicki. Between Cardi’s baby and secret marriage and even her arrest weeks ago, she is big news this year. People still listen to “Bodak Yellow,” but it’s been a little while since Nicki had that level of undeniable social relevance. Her team’s analysis says that ignoring Nicki is the best way to keep her down. As for Cardi, though, she is said to feel that the only way to “keep it real” with her music is to really lay into Nicki. Cardi is big on authenticity. TMZ notes that Nicki and Cardi have not met face to face since their messy fight at the Harper’s Bazaar ICONS Party. That sounds like it is for the best. In the aftermath, Nicki threated to literally murder Cardi , which is a hell of a thing. Cardi vowed to whoop Nicki’s ass , of course. Sometimes it is difficult to see where brand-mandated posturing ends and genuine loathing begins. But this feud looks like the real deal. Cardi’s recent arrest for assault was not over her blowup with Nicki. Instead, it was over the alleged incident in which Cardi B ordered the beating of a pair of strip club employees . Two women, who are sisters as well as bartenders at a strip club, say that they were assaulted by Cardi’s entourage. One woman, the real target, said that she had been attacked by people close to Cardi before, she believed on Cardi’s orders. The reason for the attack was apparently that Cardi believed that one woman had banged her husband, Offset. Ordering an assault because you suspect cheating is, needless to say, never okay. Death threats, literal fights, and assaults are toxic. In the rap world, these kinds of feuds can get people killed. Neither Cardi nor Nicki could actually want that, right? Lyrics might just be words, but it could be an escalation that keeps this feud from dying. We’d love to hear Cardi’s diss tracks and Nicki’s clapback, of course. But we hope that all of this animosity stays on people’s music and doesn’t spill over into real life — again. View Slideshow: 21 Celebrity Feuds We Never Saw Coming

Pusha T Says He Found Out About Drake’s Son Because Of Noah “40” Shebib

Read this article:

Well the Drake and Pusha T battle just took an interesting turn. A few days after Drake appeared on The Shop with LeBron James , Push appeared on The Joe Budden Podcast to discuss everything from the battle, who actually gave up the info about Drake’s son and much more. Around the 20-minute mark is where things truly pick up. On Drake’s Appearance On The Shop “I f*ck with The Shop. Cool to see LeBron opinionated and curse. With that being said … that particular episode, Maverick ruined the whole show. It wasn’t authentic to me. On top of that, it was biased, you didn’t even camouflage the bias. But, I just thought it was crazy. I don’t see how you can chime in so much without mentioning “Two Birds One Stone,” Cudi’s mental health issues, mentioning my wife … I don’t see how you can breeze through all of that.” RELATED: Drake Opens Up On Kanye/Pusha T Beef On HBO’s “The Shop” [VIDEO] RELATED: Pusha T Responds To Drake With Vicous “The Story Of Adidon” Diss On Who Gave Push The Information About Drake’s Son: “The information came from 40. It didn’t come from Kanye, at all. 40 is sleeping with a woman, who begins to . . . he talks to her daily. Five, six hours a day . . . And ultimately speaks about how he’s disgruntled about certain things, notoriety and things involving Drake and his career, and so on and so forth. With that also came the fact that Drake has a child. With that also came the trip that everybody took to go see the child, and bring him gifts, and all this information. She divulged this information. That’s where it came from.” On his thoughts on the battle: “I don’t even know J Prince. He did a book tour on the back of this. All these false narratives are covering up the fact that, ‘Bro, we had a battle and you came up on the short end of the stick.’” WELL. #MuteRKelly: Parents Of The Singer’s Alleged Victim Launch ‘Abuse Hotline’ Against Him

Source: Al Bello / Getty The parents of a young women who believe R. Kelly has brainwashed their daughter and is holding her captive have created a hotline for other women who may have fallen victim to the singer. According to  Mic ,  Tim and Jonjelyn Savage  have been bombarded with calls from nearly 80 women and parents with their own stories of abuse by the Pied Pier after a 2017 Buzzfeed article was published with accusations against the singer. After time, the Savages noticed a disturbing trend: So many of these callers were afraid to go public. So they created a “R. Kelly abuse hotline” last week to create a safe space for people to come forward, speak their truth and to leave a message going into detail about their allegations against the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer. “One reason I feel that he’s been getting away with a lot of the allegations for the last two decades is because people feel he has money and power and they don’t have the resources to fight him,” Mrs. Savage explained. READ MORE:   EXCLUSIVE: Lawyer To Family Whose Daughter Is Allegedly Being Held Captive By R. Kelly Speaks Out About New Song In addition, the Savages hope that this influx of callers will allow for them to build an even stronger case against R. Kelly. “There’s no age limit on being mind-controlled, drugged, brainwashed, there’s no age limit on that,” Mrs. Savage said. “So the more we have more young ladies or even men, or parents that are willing to speak out, the more we think it can help our daughter as well as helping other victims.” As we previously reported , the Savages told Buzzfeed last they haven’t seen their daughter Jocelyn since December 2016 and haven’t spoken to her on the phone since December 2017. Shortly after, Joycelyn told TMZ that her parents’ claims were false and that she willingly stays in a relationship with the singer. As we all know, the Savages claims are not new or rare when it comes to the Grammy winner. For decades R. Kelly has  been accused of predatory behavior , especially among African-American women and girls. He is also facing a lawsuit that claims the 51-year-old knowingly transmitted an STD to a women he began dating when she was 19 and he as been accused of cultivating a “sex cult” abusing multiple women. That, and there was that damning documentary on BBC3,  R Kelly: Sex, Girls and Videotapes,  where former girlfriend Kitty Jones says that Kelly introduced her to a girl whom he had allegedly “trained” since she was 14. “I saw that she was dressed like me, that she was saying the things I’d say and her mannerisms were like mine,” Jones said in the film. “That’s when it clicked in my head that he had been grooming me to become one of his pets. He calls them his pets.” READ MORE:   R. Kelly’s ‘I Admit’ Song Is Unhealed Word Vomit We Just Don’t Want R. Kelly has denied all sexual assault, kidnapping and sex cult accusations. This past summer, he  released a new song  addressing the sexual assault, pedophilia and sex cult allegations that have been circling around him for more than two decades. And while the title of the song, “I Admit” gives off the impression that the Pied Piper has finally come clean about his alleged predatory behavior, it’s quite the opposite. In the 19-minute track, Kelly denies all illegal allegations, going as far as to say that the people accusing him are lying and are only doing so to extort money and ruin his career. He also painted a picture of being a victim of sorts, claiming that he was sexually assaulted as a young child, is basically illiterate and has perhaps battled with drug addiction. Author Addresses The Financial Impact Of Racial Bias

Read the original post:

T he Black community has felt the wrath of racial bias when trying to generate upward mobility in America. We’re hit hard by the ever-growing racial wealth gap where for every $100 in white family wealth, African Americans only hold $5.04. Many of us have also experienced the impact of institutionalized racism when applying for loans, seeking jobs, and trying to further our education. Shawn D. Rochester , financial literacy expert and author of the acclaimed book The Black Tax: The Cost of Being Black in America , is aiming to change the narrative about Black wealth by educating and empowering our communities. Rochester—who has dedicated his career to teaching disenfranchised groups how to progress financially—believes that overcoming the racial wealth gap starts with exposing individuals to the basics of financial literacy and circulating the Black dollar in Black communities. “We are missing 6 million jobs, 1.4 million businesses with staff and over $8 trillion of net worth in the Black Community. The Black Tax provides that understanding in a powerful and paradigm shifting, data-driven way and lays out an economic framework that we can use to address these massive gaps,” said Rochester in a statement. “We have spent far too much time focusing almost exclusively on civil and social issues, it is time to focus on economic advancement, business development and employment in our community specifically.” Rochester will delve into the impact of racism—both past and present—at an upcoming black economic empowerment breakfast hosted by the Harlem Business Alliance ; a non-profit organization focused on education, equity, and entrepreneurship. “When it comes to accumulating wealth in America, there has never been a level playing field for the Black Community. We are calling on community leaders, influencers and entrepreneurs to rally their base,” said Regina Smith , Executive Director, Harlem Business Alliance. “The systemic and institutionalized racism stemming from centuries of slavery and the Jim Crow era continues to have a devastating impact on our community.” The breakfast is slated to take place on October 17. There has been a major push to economically empower the Black community. Entrepreneur Sheena Allen , 29, launched an online banking platform called CapWay as an avenue to help underserved communities learn more about the importance of financial literacy. SICKO MODE: Travis Scott’s Album ‘Astroworld’ Officially Reaches Platinum Status

Photo by Mark Horton/Getty Images Travis Scott’s Number One Album Astroworld Is Certified Platinum Though Travis Scott has always had an insanely loyal fanbase of his own, his career has really taken off in a way nobody expected this year–and from the look of things, it’s only up from here. La Flame’s album  Astroworld  has reached yet another milestone: The third studio LP from the Houston native has officially been certified platinum. A huge achievement to reach platinum at any speed, it took Astroworld less than three months to move 1 million units. The project, which features some guest verses from artists including Drake, Frank Ocean, Pharrell, and The Weeknd, was released on August 3. The album quickly reached gold, earning the certification only one week later on August 10. Astroworld’s commendable platinum status was obtained on September 21, a little over a month following its release. This achievement means Travis is now three for three–Both of his previous studio albums,  Rodeo  and  Birds in the Trap Sing McKnight , earned platinum plaques as well (but not nearly as fast). Travis Scott has come so far since the  early  days of his career, which was made even more evident when Mike Dean put up an Instagram post last week that showing the rapper’s progression over the last five years. The new father recently made his  Saturday Night Live  debut performing “Sicko Mode,” “Skeletons” and “Astrothunder,” also appearing in a skit while he was on the show. Not only did La Flame perform on SNL , but said performance was good enough to impress vet Questlove who tweeted, “Been going to #SNL for 9 years now. Seeing that fog/ice lazer reflection jawn in person for @trvisXX was hands down one of the best stage design presentations I’ve ever seen—-and I seen a lot.” As of next moves for the star, Travis appears on the new Kodak Black single “Zeze” along with Offset. He is also featured on the new Juicy J banger “Neighbor.” Congrats to La Flame on his endless wins right now.
