Not only did her most recent album, A Seat at the Table, reach number one, but she’s been making her mark with a string of powerful performances at places like the Guggenheim Museum and the Chinati Foundation in Marfa, Texas. Her latest achievement is a big one, too, as it’s been announced that Knowles has been named the 2018 Harvard Artist of the Year. Harvard University chose to honor the artist for using “her platform to advocate for representation and justice while providing constructive and empowering political messages,” which was announced via a press release from the institution. To date, this is the third major award Solange has received for her work. She was previously named Glamour Woman of the Year and before that received the Billboard Impact Award. Solange is set to be recognized and presented with the award at a ceremony on next month, on March 3. The award comes from the Harvard Foundation for intercultural and race relations, which is the university’s office for inter-racial, inter-ethnic and inter-religious relations; They honor the nation’s most acclaimed artists and scientists each year. According to Vice News , she as well as other women have announced that their running for office. Follow @TheRSMS Crooks spoke out and claimed that while working in Trump Tower in 2005 he kissed her without permission. She shared her story right before the election and is now running for state legislature in Ohio. Crooks said, “I think my voice should have been heard then, and I’ll still fight for it to be heard now. Americans are really upset with politics as usual, and I want to be a voice for them.” Crooks has support from the Ohio’s Democratic party and so many others. With all the talk surrounding Meghan Markle and the family into which she’s about to become a member, a certain someone would like to remind folks about Meghan Markle’s actual family. And that certain someone is her half-sister, Samantha Grant. Grant has become somewhat of a celebrity herself ever since Markle entered the mainstream conversation early last year. She has been granting interviews and trying to get her name out there on a frequent basis for several months now. In the latest case of Grant attempting to capitalize off her sibling’s fame, Grant sat down and spoke to Fox News about various rumors surrounding the soon-to-be Mrs. Prince Harry. “Don’t believe anything you read in tabloids,” Grant says. “Those stories are written to create controversy and sell magazines.” In this initial case, the topic at hand was chatter that Markle would be walked down the aisle by her mother, NOT her father, because she isn’t especially close to her dad. (The former actress’ parents have been divorced for years.) “My father, when we see these tabloids, and it’s every day, we just roll our eyes,” Grant explains, adding: “There are so many rumors, like Meghan doesn’t get along with her dad or he’s reclusive. He’s not. “They talk regularly… Her relationship growing up with him was great. It’s still great now.” Thomas Markle lives a quiet life in Mexico and is on record as saying he would love to walk Markle down the aisle on her wedding day, which is scheduled for May 19. “My father is very close to Meg,” continued Grant, elaborating: “All of that perception created by the press is a horrible, despicable lie… It’s really unfortunate and it has caused the family a lot of pain… It’s atrocious. “And if I’ve had billions of dollars, there are about 50 publications I would go after and sue… But I’m in a wheelchair. I don’t have time or energy to be doing all of that.” Grant has been offered a TLC special and has claimed in the past that she plans to write a tell-all about Markle. Many quickly assumed this memoir (titled “The Diary of Princess Pushy’s Sister”) would be a hatchet job, but Grant now insists she’s been misunderstood. And so has the relationship between her and Markle, who did not grow up in the same house because they are 17 years apart in age. “My relationship with my sister for a while was really hurt because of the perceptions out there,” says Grant. “And I have to say, my book’s not what all of these people are saying it is… Just because it has the word ‘pushy’ doesn’t mean it’s a slamming tell-all… I was making fun of the tabloids… “My goal is really to show how lovely and amazing she is. I look forward to the both of us hopefully laughing over this.” What about the rumor that Grant and Markle have not spoken in a decade? “We spoke in 2014,” Samantha swears. “That doesn’t make us estranged by a decade… When you got someone in the family who is famous, just because they jet-set and have a busy, distracting life, it doesn’t mean anyone in the family is estranged… “Our families have always been very much in touch. Rose McGowan Accuses Director Robert Rodriguez Of Exploitation Rose McGowan is pointing the finger at yet another big-name Hollywood heavy hitter. This time, it’s movie director and ex-boyfriend Robert Rodgriquez. She claims the man she loved at the time used the information of her 1997 rape at the hands of Harvey Weinstein on the set of “Scream” — and the subsequent payout she accepted and industry blacklisting that came afterward — against her in an exploitative manner. Robert Rodriguez told Variety back in October that he cast McGowan in his 2007 flick “Planet Terror” as a type of revenge on her behalf, giving her a leading role as a bad-azz character after years of her being blacklisted by Weinstein. As a result, the release of the movie, a double-feature alongside Quentin Tarantino’s film “Death Proof,” released as “Grindhouse,” was buried by Weinstein out of spite and did not do the expected box office numbers. However, Rose has a different accounting of events. She tells Vanity Fair in a new article that Rodriguez held the comeback opportunity he was giving her over her head, and used his knowledge of the details of her encounter with Weinstein to play exploitative mind games with her. He placed her in a near-rape attack scene with Tarantino, causing her to lose her grip on her sanity. Then, in the ultimate betrayal, he sold the film to the Weinstein company. The thing is…Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan started a full-on boyfriend/girlfriend relationship while on set of the exact same movie — unbeknownst to Rodriguez’s wife at the time. 2017 was a YEAR! Every year has its peaks and valleys, but for many 2017 represented 365 days of extreme challenges. Whirlwind romances and an uncertain economy have left a lot of us licking our wounds personally and professionally. If you took some “L’s” last year, here are some ways to change your approach to love and your career for 2018 and bounce back in a BIG way. 1. It’s OK To Be “In Your Feelings.” The biggest mistake most people make after a breakup is diving headfirst into anything that will make them forget the pain of what happened. It could be starting an intense workout regimen, a new pet, going vegan, a new boo…any project to keep them distracted. This never works. Let yourself feel all the things…hurt, embarrassment, rage, jealousy…all of it. The sooner you let yourself process all of the emotions the sooner you will stop stalking your ex on social media and get on with your amazing life! 2. Was It Them Or Was It Me? After a relationship ends it is really easy to open a bottle of wine (or 2!) and spend hours blaming the other person. While you’re busy pointing the finger at them, it may be time for some self-reflection. Were there red flags you ignored? Were you fully present in the relationship and giving your all or were you just going through the motions? Sometimes getting dumped is necessary to make us take a closer look at ourselves and what we can do to be a better partner the next time. If we’re honest, we ALL have some work to do. Let this break up be the start of your journey to your best self. 3. I nstead Of Updating Your Instagram…Update Your LinkedIn Account. There is nothing fabulous about getting fired. Stop posting brunch photos and playing with Snapchat filters and get your LinkedIn account popping. Unlike a breakup, this is one relationship you need to bounce back from immediately. If you were slacking at work and getting let go was justified, it is time to step it up. There is no excuse for being late, missed deadlines, or taking a million sick days. In 2018 stop making excuses and start pounding the digital pavement. Update your resume and hope whomever they ask for a reference at your old job is having a good day when they call! 4. Find The Lesson In Being Let Go One of my biggest mental shifts happened when I stopped asking, “Why did this happen to me?” and instead started asking “Why did this happen for me?” Getting laid off is never ideal, but look at it as an opportunity to take some time (within reason) to start focusing on the career or life goals you really want to achieve. Sometimes when we are in a safe job we aren’t pushed to really go for what we want. Let 2018 be the year you go for it. If you’ve been laid off take a week to feel bad, binge watch all the shows you’ve missed, and then get to work on a new plan. Use your network and let them know your ideas and plans. Your dream job could be a conversation away. The job is gone…you probably didn’t love it anyway. Be thankful for the freedom to try something new. Here’s to a happy, healthy, prosperous 2018!
