Director Robert Rodriguez is notorious for publicly discussing projects that never go anywhere (Like the also recently announced Machete sequel , which is…postponed? Abandoned altogether? Who knows?). But now that he’s sent out an official press release announcing that production has begun on Sin City 2: A Dame to Kill For , well, there’s no turning back now: “I have wanted to re-team with Frank Miller and return to the world he created since the day we wrapped the original, but have felt a duty to the fans to wait until we had something truly exceptional that would meet and exceed what have become epic expectations. ‘A Dame To Kill For’ will certainly be worth the wait.” No pressure or anything… Details are still scarce on Sin City 2 , but the graphic novel A Dame to Kill For , on which the movie is (presumably) being based, takes place before The Hard Goodbye , which was adapted into the first Sin City movie. Does this mean Carla Gugino will be back, hand and all? Will Jessica Alba return as a somewhat less seasoned stripper? Will Jaime King actually have more than a couple lines of dialogue this time? It’s enough to turn a gumshoe into a private dick.
