The CW Casts Carrie Bradshaw!

The CW has tracked down its Carrie Bradshaw. Relatively unknown actress AnnaSophia Robb ( Soul Surfer , Charlie and the Chocolate Factor ) has landed this highly sought after role. She’ll portray a teenage version of the character Sarah Jessica Parker made famous on The Carrie Diaries , an upcoming pilot based on Candance Bushnell’s prequel of a novel. The series will follow around Carrie during her high school days in New York City and be set in the 1980s. It had originally been pitched as a movie – with Blake Lively, Selena Gomez and Elizabeth Olsen in key roles – but The CW swept in a few weeks ago and purchased the television script rights. What do you think of Robb as Carrie Bradshaw?

Soul Surfer’s AnnaSophia Robb Is Your New Carrie Bradshaw

This just in: The makers of the forthcoming CW spin-off series The Carrie Diaries (a prequel to Candace Bushnell’s franchise-launching Sex and the City novel) have found their new Carrie Bradshaw in Soul Surfer / Race to Witch Mountain/Bridge to Terabithia star AnnaSophia Robb . The series “chronicles Carrie’s coming of age in the 1980s when she asks her first questions about love, sex, friendship and family while exploring the worlds of high school and Manhattan.” So it’s basically Gossip Girl with a Carrie Bradshaw who looks nothing like the future Carrie Bradshaw . Oh, fine. Why not? [ Deadline ]

Jessica Simpson Low-Cut Wedding Dress

Jessica Simpson– who says she#39;d love to have a “Carrie Bradshaw moment” trying on lots of gowns – often gravitates toward v-neck or scoop necks, which flatter her physique and help her avoid looking “top heavy.” Besides, “I like my collar bone,” adds Simpson, 30. “I have a long neck, so I like to show off my décolletage.” Jessica Simpson may be a fashion mogul, but she#39;s still at work on her most important look yet: her wedding dress. “It#39;s definitely going to be beautiful,” the sin

‘Sex And The City 2’ Premiere Prompts Stars To Play ‘Which Character Are You?’

Whitney Port, Mario Cantone and others pick whether they identify most with Carrie or her friends. By Jocelyn Vena Whitney Port at the “Sex and the City 2” premiere Monday Photo: Andrew H. Walker/ Getty Images NEW YORK — Sure, the big debate on the red carpet of the “Sex and the City 2” premiere was all about Mr. Big vs. Aidan Shaw, but the stars who turned out to celebrate the flick were also eager to play a little round of “Which character are you?” with MTV News. While, Carrie Bradshaw was the popular choice, some others felt they were really a combination of all four of the women. “I think I relate to Carrie probably the most,” “The City” star Whitney Port told MTV News before the big premiere, which took place at Radio City. “Because I think career-wise [we have a lot in common], like the path that she took.” Mario Cantone may play Charlotte’s best gay friend Anthony in the series and movies, but he doesn’t see himself as a Charlotte. “It’d probably be Samantha, ’cause I’m a slut!” Figure skater Johnny Weir was hesitant to choose a character. “You know what? I’m a combination,” he said at first. “I’m very uptight at times like Charlotte. I’m dirty like Samantha, at times. But overall, I’d say I’m Carrie. I bring my clique of friends all together. I’m the center.” Leave it to talk-show personality Wendy Williams to articulate what makes her the perfect combination of all the ladies. “I totally am a reasonable combination of all of them,” she said. “Carrie is fun to watch, but I’m too frugal to be Carrie. She always lived way beyond her budget. That’s scary to me. Samantha is too loose to be older. … Miranda is, at times, too scared of men, and I’m not. And Charlotte is looking for the perfect man, and he doesn’t exist.” Which “Sex and the City” star do you relate to most? Tell us in the comments! ‘Sex And The City 2’ Stars Pick All-Time Favorite ‘SATC’ Looks

‘I think the tutu in Paris,’ Sarah Jessica Parker tells MTV News of Carrie’s dress in last episode of ‘Sex and the City.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Sarah Jessica Parker in “Sex and the City 2” Photo: Warner Bros. Pictures When “Sex and the City” opened in 2008, many fans of the show went to screenings decked out like their favorite characters from the show — Carrie Bradshaw’s flower pins and Manolo Blahniks were must-wear accessories. Now, with fans eagerly awaiting the arrival of “Sex and the City 2,” due Friday, MTV News caught up with the “SATC” ladies and asked them to pick their most memorable TV/film looks. Cynthia Nixon Nixon had trouble remembering the many outfits she’d worn over the years: “Favorite outfit of all time? I have no idea!” Kim Cattrall “Oh, God, favorite outfit? I love the hat in the first movie, that just glorious, that huge hat that I had. Some of my favorite scenes [were] going down the pole in the fireman [episode]. That whole episode was just so much fun to do.” Kristin Davis “Do you know how many thousands and thousands of outfits we have worn? I’m going to go with the Vera Wang, the first poofy wedding dress, because I would never choose such a thing in my life,” Davis said, referring to Charlotte’s gown during her wedding to Trey. “It was so quintessentially Charlotte and so deliciously foofy and Vera Wang that I’m going to go with that. And there’s a favorite picture from that: when we walk out of the church and they threw the rose petals.” Sarah Jessica Parker “I think the tutu in Paris, in that final montage of her and Big finally getting back together,” Parker said. Fans, of course, remember that lavish, over-the-top tutu from the series’ last episode. What’s your all-time favorite “Sex and the City” outfit? Tell us in the comments! ‘Sex And The City 2’ Samantha Wedding Pics Were A ‘Bait-And-Switch’

Kim Cattrall told director Michael Patrick King: ‘I want to come to the set someday in a wedding gown.’ By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kim Catrall Photo: MTV News There have been many memorable weddings on “Sex and the City 2.” Who could forget when Charlotte married Trey? Or, for that matter, when Charlotte married Harry? And, there was that lovely little ceremony when Steve finally got Miranda to tie the knot. Then, of course, fans nearly died of happiness when Mr. Big and Carrie Bradshaw finally walked down the aisle in the first “Sex and the City” movie. So when fans saw paparazzi photos of Samantha (Kim Cattrall) in a wedding dress, they thought she was the latest “Sex and the City” girl to put a ring on it. Turns out, they got duped. “That was a completely conscious bait-and-switch,” “Sex and the City 2” director Michael Patrick King told MTV News. He said it was Cattrall’s devious mind that came up with the idea. “[She] came to me and said, ‘I want to come to the set someday in a wedding gown and make everybody think Samantha’s getting married,’ ” he recalled. “And I put it in my head [like], ‘That’s a funny idea.’ Forty-five minutes later, I turned around; she was crossing the street in a wedding gown. I thought, ‘Oh, today?’ ” Cattrall wasn’t able to pull it off all on her own; she got some help from the show’s iconic stylist. “Patricia Field got a gown that fit her within 40 minutes, and she had a veil on and she’s running across the street,” he said. “And what I loved about it was every blog that I saw was like, ‘This looks like a bad idea for a movie.’ And I was like, ‘It is!’ ” Check out everything we’ve got on “Sex and the City 2.” For young Hollywood news, fashion and “Twilight” updates around the clock, visit HollywoodCrush.MTV.com . Sarah Jessica Parker Reluctant To Give Up Role For ‘Carrie Diaries’

‘I can’t imagine anyone else playing Dorothy — just Judy Garland,’ ‘Sex and the City 2’ star says. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Photo: MTV News In the newly released “The Carrie Diaries,” a written prequel of sorts to the “Sex and the City” series, readers follow a teenage Carrie Bradshaw as she navigates her senior year of high school. Now, with “Sex and the City 2” mania heating up, it seems only a matter of time before the book gets the TV or film treatment. But who could fill the iconic Carrie’s shoes &#8212 as well as Sarah Jessica Parker? MTV News recently caught up with the actress, who was promoting the “Sex” sequel opening May 17, and asked her. “It’s so funny. It’s just been asked of me, of course, in the last 24 hours,” Parker told MTV News about how she’d react to another actress playing a younger Carrie. “It makes perfect sense [that another actress would be cast]. And I would like to be generous of spirit and say, ‘Of course,’ and, ‘I will do so if that is asked of me.’ ” But Parker admitted she wasn’t entirely comfortable with the idea, referencing another iconic character known for her shoes. “It’s just, I don’t know. I can’t imagine anyone else playing Dorothy Gale &#8212 just Judy Garland,” Parker smiled with a nod to “The Wizard of Oz.” Parker can probably rest easy for now though, as adaptation plans seem to be a ways off. “The Carrie Diaries” author Candace Bushnell recently told MTV News, “It’s not in my hands, so there aren’t any plans at this moment. We don’t know what’s going to happen.” Who would you cast to play a teenage Carrie Bradshaw? Tell us in the comments!
