The Joys Of Being Black: Oscar Grant’s 5 Shooting Witness Friends Paid A Pitiful $35,000 Each In BART Lawsuit Settlement

You cannot be f***ing serious … Oscar Grant’s Friends Settle Lawsuit With BART For $175,000 Via AP Five friends of Oscar Grant, the man who was fatally shot by a San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit police officer, have reached a deal to settle a federal lawsuit against the agency, officials said. Jack Bryson Jr., Nigel Bryson, Michael Greer, Carlos Reyes and Fernando Anicete Jr. will split $175,000 as part of the settlement reached late last month, their attorney John Burris said Tuesday. The BART board approved the settlement May 8, BART spokeswoman Alicia Trost said Wednesday. The men filed a federal civil rights lawsuit for $1.5 million in 2009 claiming excessive force and illegal detainment. Burris said Tuesday that the men are relieved the case is over. “This closes a very traumatic and tragic chapter for these young men,” he said. “Unfortunately, they will never get over witnessing their friend’s death.” Trost said the settlement closes the case for a “considerably smaller amount compared to what would have been a long and costly trial if allowed to move forward.” The five men were detained on BART’s Fruitvale Station platform in Oakland along with Grant, who was shot and killed by then-BART police officer Johannes Mehserle. If you’ll remember… Grant’s mother, Wanda Johnson, and Grant’s young daughter, Tatiana, also received financial settlements from BART totaling $2.8 million as a result of the shooting. That brings Oscar Grant’s life value to a grand total of just under $3 million. At the risk of equating different people’s pain and suffering, isn’t it sad that these 5 young men, who actually WITNESSED their friend being gunned down, were only awarded such a paltry settlement? Wait, What? 9-Month-Old Baby Boy Charged With Attempted Murder & Threatening Police

9-Month-Old Boy Charged With Attempted Murder via Fox News A nine-month-old Pakistani boy sat on his father’s lap, sucking on a bottle during a court appearance where he and at least 30 others were charged with attempted murder. Little Muhammad Mosa Khan was also charged with threatening police and interfering in state affairs at a Pakistan court Thursday. Khan and others in the group were booked following a police raid to catch suspected gas thieves in the city of Lahore, The Times of India reported. Police say the suspects tried to kill security officers by throwing stones at them. But Khan’s father, Ahmed—who is also accused– says the crowd was protesting an electricity shortage. Ahmed claims police created a fake case against him, his son and others in the group and urged authorities to drop the charges. “Our crime is that we had protested against non-availability of electricity in our locality,” Ahmed said. Judge Rafaqat Ali first directed police to record the child’s statement, then when he realized his age, granted him bail and adjourned the case until April 12. The judge could not dismiss the case as it’s not under his jurisdiction. Senior Superintendent of Police Rana Jabbar said there was a misunderstanding that led police to book the minor in the case. The assistant superintendent who filed the charges against the infant has been suspended. As crazy as things get over in Pakistan at times, we’re surprised that this was actually a mistake. Kurt Cobain Suicide Photos Released, Depict Drug Paraphernalia and Cash

Nearly two decades after Kurt Cobain committed suicide, new photos from the scene of the rocker’s death have been released. A Seattle detective recently reviewed the case, assuming the 20th anniversary of Cobain’s passing would renew interest in the incident, which took place on April 8, 1994. He did not discover any new information but he did some across four rolls of undeveloped rolls of film from the suicide scene. Kurt Cobain Suicide Photos Revealed Authorities released two of those photos to The Associated Press last night, with one depicting a box of drug paraphernalia, a spoon and what appear to be needles on the floor next to half a cigarette and sunglasses. The other shows the same paraphernalia box closed aside some cash, a cigarette pack and a wallet that shows Cobain’s identification. “There was nothing earth-shattering in any of these images,” police spokeswoman Renee Witt said. “The detective went into the case files to refresh himself. The outcome of the case has not changed.” Cobain’s body was discovered in Seattle and an investigation determined that, days prior, the Nirvana frontman had gone into the greenhouse of his large home and taken a massive dose of heroin. He then shot himself with a shotgun. In a statement on the Seattle Police Department’s online blotter, the detective who re-examined the case dismissed speculation of any kind of conspiracy. “Sometimes people believe what they read – some of the disinformation from some of the books, that this was a conspiracy. That’s completely inaccurate,” said Detective Mike Ciesynski. “It’s a suicide. This is a closed case.”

Shady NJ Police Caught On Dashcam Video Brutally Beating Black Man During Traffic Stop Before Falsifying Arrest Reports

We know he’s breathing easier. Police Dashcam Video Saves Man From Jail Without that video these pigs would’ve gotten away some bullisht yet again. According to Business Insider: Videos taken from two police cruiser dash cams were the deciding factor in dropping the case against a New Jersey man facing charges of eluding police and assault, ABC 7 reports. The incident between Bloomfield Police and 30-year-old Marcus Jeter began after officers were called to the home he shares with his girlfriend. At the time, no charges were filed and Jeter later left following a talk with officers. A short time later, police attempted to pull him over, but they alleged he tried to elude them. “When they got behind me, I pulled over,” Jeter told ABC’s Sarah Wallace. The video confirmed that was the case. Jeter can be seen in the video raising his hands above his head after being stopped, while officers aim their weapons at him and scream at him to get out of the car. Describing the incident, Jeter told ABC he was afraid he might have been shot if he got out. Later in the video, another police car joins the scene — actually smashing into the front of his vehicle. In that second dashcam video, an officer smashes the driver’s side window glass and punches him in the face while telling him to “stop resisting” and “stop trying to take my gun.” While all charges were dropped against Jeter, two officers were indicted for falsifying reports. A third pleaded guilty early on to tampering. It’s all thanks to those dashcam tapes. It’s the video that prosecutors say they never saw when they pursued criminal charges against 30 year-old Marcus Jeter . In the video, his hands were in the air. He was charged with eluding police, resisting arrest and assault. One officer in the video can be seen throwing repeated punches. When asked what would have happened by Wallace if the tape hadn’t surfaced, Jeter said, “I’d be in jail.” SMH at the police falsifying reports. ABC 7

Jesus Take The Wheel: Mother Says 19-Year-Old Son Was Killed By Flu Shot After Falling Into A Coma 24 Hours After Taking Vaccine

This is sad. Man Dies After Taking Flu Shot He thought he was helping himself by getting the flu shot and it ended up killing him. Dayum. According to KSL: A Utah woman said a flu shot caused her son’s death. Lori Webb put her assertion in her son’s obituary and is warning other families about what she believes are potential hidden dangers of vaccinations. “I could not believe it,” Webb said. “I never in my life would ever think ‘Your son is in a coma?’ How does it happen?” Lori Webb said her son, Chandler Blake Webb, 19, was the perfect picture of health and was preparing to submit his papers for a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. However, the day after a physical, tuberculosis test and flu shot, Chandler turned very ill. Within a few days, he was in the hospital for the second time. Within 24-hours of his second check-in, Webb said her son was in a coma. He had previously suffered from numerous severe symptoms, including shaking and vomiting. “This was his first flu shot,” Webb said. “He’d never had one before.” Chandler Webb’s family ultimately elected to take him off life support, and he died after 28 days in the hospital. “I hate this,” Lori Webb said Friday afternoon before her son’s viewing, tears streaming down her cheeks. “I hate that I have to bury my son.” Utah Department of Health officials did not go into specifics about the case. Instead, a spokesperson said the department was aware of the case. Another spokesperson late Friday offered another statement: “Our epidemiology staff have [sic] commented that although they have no evidence of a flu vaccine (or any other kind of vaccine) causing this type of reaction/outcome, they take these reports very seriously and they are thoroughly investigated by the [Centers for Disease Control and Prevention].” Webb admitted to reporters that not even all the neurologists on her son’s team agree to blame the flu shot, but she also said every test for a disease came up negative. “They cannot prove any other thing,” Webb said. “My gut tells me that too.” Does this story make you rethink getting a flu shot?

Madeleine McCann Case Reopened, New Evidence Cited

The case of missing British toddler Madeleine McCann has been reopened six years after she disappeared, thanks to new evidence cited by investigators. Madeleine McCann Case Reopened McCann vanished from her hotel room during family vacation in Portugal. Police in that country effectively gave up trying to find her five years ago. Madeleine’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, had long campaigned from their home in central England for the Portuguese investigation to resume . In a statement Thursday, they said they were “very pleased.” “We hope that this will finally lead to (Madeleine) being found and to the discovery of whoever is responsible for this crime,” Kate and Gerry McCann said. Madeleine went missing just before her fourth birthday. The couple, both doctors, continue to care for Madeleine’s younger siblings, twins Sean and Amelie. McCann’s disappearance sparked global interest. In a stunning twist, Portuguese police briefly considered the parents suspects before they were cleared. Portuguese police closed the case in 2008, having detected no crime. However, a team of detectives from Porto, in northern Portugal, began reviewing evidence in 2011. They had not been involved in the original investigation. The public prosecutor’s office in Lisbon said it decided to reopen the investigation after new leads emerged during the case review. It did not elaborate. The case is subject to Portugal’s judicial secrecy law. British police, meanwhile, launched Operation Grange in 2011 to try to find out what happened to Madeleine and have also “identified new avenues.” They say both the timeline and the version of events surrounding the girl’s disappearance have changed significantly as new information has emerged. British detectives say it’s possible that Madeleine is still alive, and released a computer-generated image of a person they were interested in questioning. It’s an encouraging sign. We continue to hope for her safe return, along with that of Lisa Irwin and so many others who have been tragically abducted.
