Paige Miles Voted Off American Idol

With a couple of notable exceptions , Tuesday’s American Idol performances left plenty to be desired, and plenty of people wondering who’d end up in the bottom three. Last week, Paige Miles was narrowly spared from elimination. Wednesday, though, the 24-year-old Floridian’s run on American Idol came to an appropriate conclusion. Paige’s promising voice and great personality weren’t enough to overcome her erratic song selection and a quite lackluster rendition of Phil Collins’ “Against All Odds.” To the surprise of no one, Tim Urban joined Paige in the bottom three again, along with Katie Stevens, whose “Big Girls Don’t Cry” nearly resulted in tears of her own. Next week, it’s R&B/Soul time, with Usher serving as mentor and guest performer. Miley Cyrus rocked the house last night, and we’ll have video of that for you soon. PAIGE TURNED: A good run, Paige, but Miles apart from the top tier. Which of the remaining 10 do you see going all the way to the end, and who do you think is a prime candidate to be sent packing next week? Here’s how we see the remaining finalists, grouped into tiers … The Contenders Crystal Bowersox Siobhan Magnus Michael Lynche Hanging Around Casey James Didi Benami Lee DeWyze Andrew Garcia Bottom Three Calling Aaron Kelly Katie Stevens Tim Urban TOP 10 : Who will be the next American Idol?

Casey James Profile: Can The Sex Symbol Become ‘Idol’ Champ?

‘American Idol’ Top 12 cheat sheet looks at James’ strengths and weaknesses. By Jim Cantiello Casey James at the “American Idol” top 12 party Photo: Jesse Grant/ WireImage On Thursday night, “American Idol” revealed its Top 12 finalists for the ninth season of the hit show. MTV News “Idol” expert Jim Cantiello whipped up a handy cheat sheet for each finalist, breaking down each candidate’s journey thus far. He also got the “Idol” hopefuls to weigh in when he caught up with them at Thursday night’s Top 12 Party in Hollywood. Casey James During his audition, Casey James turned Kara DioGuardi and guest judge Victoria Beckham into slobbering schoolgirls when he happily took off his shirt at their request. And now the poor guy can’t seem to get off the casting couch! For three weeks, the conversation around Casey has been more about Kara’s crush on him than his viability as a music artist. Best Performance : Casey showed an appealing vulnerable side when he warbled Bryan Adams’ “Heaven,” which sent DioGuardi into a disruptive tizzy. To James’ credit, he was able to tone out the cougar’s giggles and get through the song without incident. Weakest Performance : Casey’s “Idol” inexperience showed when he picked Gavin DeGraw’s “I Don’t Want to Be” because it had been covered on “Idol” so often in the past. (You got that backwards, buddy.) Despite Casey’s best efforts to switch up the song with added electric guitar riffs, his performance had the authenticity of a Pat Boone heavy metal album. Tragic Backstory : When he was 21, Casey was involved in a life-threatening car crash. Doctors told him he’d never play guitar again. But Casey was determined to pick up the ax again, and now he’s able to rock out whenever he wants. ‘American Idol’ Top 12 Party Why He Will Win : Never underestimate the power of the cougar vote! And since Kara and “Idol” producers go out of their way to make references to his shirtless audition, expect those middle-aged women to continue dialing like mad. Why He Will Lose : Casey’s been coasting for three weeks. He has to step it up quickly or else Lee Dewyze will start stealing the horny housewife contingent. What He Should Sing : Simon’s already established that he doesn’t have enough “grit” to pull off bluesy rock numbers, but we think he has enough soul to make Paul Weller’s “You Do Something to Me” his “Idol” moment. On Being A Sex Symbol : “It’s not even a reality for me,” he said. “It doesn’t come into reality because I’m just the same dude I’ve always been. Casey James should be sitting at the house with his dogs chilling out right now, or at a gig.” Get your “Idol” fix on MTV News’ “American Idol” page , where you’ll find all the latest news, interviews and opinions. Ex-Wife of Casey James: Music is Singer’s Life

Kellie James has bad news for Kara DioGuardi: No matter how much you fawn over Casey James , it won’t go anywhere. “Music is everything to Casey,” said Kellie, the woman that was married to him from 2005 to 2008. “He just does what he loves to do, which is music, but he’s never thought of himself as a heartthrob. Frankly, I think it embarrasses him.” So far, James has handled the inappropriate Kara crush very well each week on American Idol . It’s a joke the show should really stop referring to over and over. In her interview with The National Enquirer , Kellie also details the motorcycle accident that left Casey with a fractured left wrist and right femur. He was in a wheelchair for six months as a result of it. “The doctors told us that they didn’t know whether Casey would be able to use his hand again, much less play the guitar,” said Kellie. “When he was finally able to play again, Casey felt he had a new lease on life.” It’s a lease that has paid off very well through the early rounds of Idol . Casey is considered the male favorite on season nine.

‘American Idol’ Top 10 Men: What They Need To Do

After a rocky week one, we have some advice for Andrew Garcia, John Park and the rest of the guys. By Eric Ditzian Andrew Garcia Photo: Michael Becker / FOX The pressure is on the top 10 “American Idol” men. After a series of roundly derided performances last week that had experts and fans questioning if this season’s talent is the weakest in the show’s history , Andrew Garcia, Casey James and the rest of the men will take the “Idol” stage Tuesday night (March 2) after a last-minute switch with the top 10 ladies (word is Crystal Bowersox is suffering from unspecified “medical issues”). So what do the men need to do to win back the hearts — and ears — of the nation? How can they get enough votes to avoid landing in the bottom two? Here’s what we do (and don’t) want to see from these “Idol” hopefuls. Andrew Garcia We’ve already heard Garcia remix versions of tunes from Paula Abdul, Adele and Fall Out Boy. And we’ve already seen how what we at first took for wild originality has come to seem like remix-by-the-numbers blandness. Garcia needs to forget about reinventing a tune and wow us with his vocals instead of his musical tinkering. Casey James That this cowboy kid had the best men’s performance of last week said more about the show’s overall weakness than it did about his rendition of Bryan Adams’ “Heaven.” We’ll be looking to see James expand on his chilled-out singer/songwriter vibe and deliver a bit of old-fashioned rock and roll,

Adam Lambert to Perform on American Idol

Adam Lambert will return to the American Idol stage this season. A few hours after Allison Iraheta and Kris Allen performed for fans, Lambert Tweeted today: “Yes, I have been booked on Idol! Can’t reveal the date yet but it’s a ways off… So excited. Kris and Allison were awesome last night.” They sure were. But Lambert’s debut album sold the most copies of any season eight finalist and his appearance later this year is sure to draw huge ratings. But which competitors will still be around to see him? Our money is on Andrew Garcia , Casey James, Didi Benami or Crystal Bowersox to walk away with the season nine crown. What do you think?

Adam Lambert Picks His ‘American Idol’ Favorite: Todrick Hall

Last year’s runner-up also tweets support for Casey James and Andrew Garcia. By Hillary Crosley Adam Lambert Photo: Jason Merritt/ Getty Images Not one for holding his tongue , “American Idol” alum Adam Lambert tweeted about his favorite contestant of the new season: Todrick Hall . “[Todrick is] def gonna surprise us!! Mad talent!! Def the full package,” Lambert tweeted . And the “Whataya Want From Me” singer didn’t stop before congratulating competitors Casey James and Andrew Garcia as well. “Casey is def the real deal. Authentic. Andrew Garcia’s too,” he added. While each of the contestants has their own strengths, Hall and Lambert come from the same musical-theater background. Lambert brought his performance experience from the Los Angeles cast of “Wicked” to “American Idol.” On the other hand, Hall, a 24-year-old “actor/playwright” from Arlington, Texas, acted beside “Idol” winner Fantasia Barrino in Oprah Winfrey’s “The Color Purple” and was part of the Disney World productions of “High School Musical 2” and “Beauty and the Beast.” Lambert’s Twitter support is also a bit nostalgic, considering “Idol” alumni like Kelly Clarkson joined Team Lambert last year. Season-five finalist Chris Daughtry also put in his two cents about the men on Twitter , simply writing, “Ouch…that’s all,” after Wednesday night’s live-performance show. Lambert’s opinion on Hall didn’t quite match our top 12 men’s report card . Instead, James’ acoustic version of Bryan Adams’ “Heaven” put him on top. We voted Hall’s take on Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone” as satisfactory, but the kid showed guts. Andrew Koenig’s Parents Walk Out Before ‘Larry King’ Interview

Missing ‘Growing Pains’ actor’s parents left Vancouver studio for unknown reasons. By Eric Ditzian Andrew Koenig Photo: IMDB Only minutes before the parents of Andrew Koenig , the former “Growing Pains” star who’s been missing since February 14, were set to be interviewed on “Larry King Live” Wednesday night, the couple unexpectedly walked out on the show. Toward the end of the program, King promoted his upcoming interview with “Star Trek” alum Walter Koenig and wife Judy Levin-Koenig, showing a live shot via satellite of the couple in Vancouver, where their son was last seen. When the host returned from a commercial break, though, the Koenigs had already left. “I’m told that they left the studio, so we’ll take a quick break and find out why,” King said, tossing to another commercial. After the break, King said, “For some reason unbeknownst to anyone Walter Koenig, the father of the missing Andrew Koenig, and Judy Levin-Koenig, the mother of the missing Andrew Koenig, left the studio in Vancouver. We checked them out, they were prepared to go on. I said ‘hello,’ they both said ‘hello.’ We said we’d be on in two minutes, they said ‘fine,’ and they got up and left for reasons unknown.” The abrupt departure caused viewers to speculate that the Koenigs had received distressing news in the moments before their interview. An inside source at “King” told RadarOnline.com that they have no information about why the Koenigs left. “What I know is exactly what you saw and heard on our show,” the source said. Best known for his “Growing Pains” role as Richard “Boner” Stabone (star Kirk Cameron’s best friend), Koenig was last seen in Vancouver on February 14 and was expected to return home to California on February 16. According to statements from his family and from Vancouver police, the actor has been suffering from depression.

Lady Gaga, Kate Moss Attend Alexander McQueen’s Funeral

Gaga arrives to the church in London wearing elaborate dress as she pays her final respects to the designer. By Jocelyn Vena Lady Gaga attends Alexander McQueen’s funeral on February 25 Photo: Pacific Coast News Friends and family of the late designer Alexander McQueen gathered in London Thursday (February 25) to pay their final respects to the rebel designer at his funeral, held at St. Paul’s Church. Attendees included Lady Gaga and supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell. While Moss and Campbell wore touches of eccentric pieces to the funeral that included fur and embellished hats, it was Gaga who arrived in the most eccentric get-up. The pop star, who wore McQueen often and very famously in her in “Bad Romance” video, arrived in a short black dress, her face fully veiled in black lace and the back of her dress tented out with a train. After news broke that McQueen had been found dead in his London apartment on February 11, Gaga tweeted a photo of her and the designer as a remembrance. She later paid tribute to him during her more understated performance at the Brit Awards . During the medley of her songs “Speechless” and “Dance in the Dark” she told the crowd, “This is for Alexander McQueen.” A rep for McQueen’s company spoke to Women’s Wear Daily about the funeral, saying a public memorial is set to take place later this year. No details were given about the when the memorial would take place. “We are focusing right now on the Paris show, which takes place on March 9,” she added. It was announced recently that McQueen’s label will continue , although there have been no details about who will design in McQueen’s place. ‘American Idol’ Top 12 Men’s Report Card

Casey James gets our only ‘excellent’ grade, and the rest have some serious studying to do! By Eric Ditzian The “American Idol” top 12 men Photo: Patrick Ecclestein / FOX Call it a case of nervousness on the first day of class, a failure to study hard, or a bunch of students in over their heads. Whatever the case on Wednesday’s “American Idol,” the top 12 men arrived for their first live show test and promptly flunked. Most of them, at least, especially when compared to the top 12 women the previous evening. So, who surprised us, who disappointed us, and who’s in danger of going home? Let’s take a look at the top 12 men’s report card. (And don’t miss Jim Cantiello’s review in the Newsroom.) ‘American Idol’ Season Nine Performances Excellent Casey James : The judges predictably continued to milk the Kara-hearts-Casey storyline, which besides getting a bit tired, is starting to be unfair to the singer who called himself “just some dude.” Drop the manufactured drama, because with his stripped-down acoustic take on Bryan Adams’ “Heaven,” James established himself as a front-runner. He alone among the male contestants looked natural onstage. He alone injected a sense of live show verve to the dull proceedings. He alone deserves two gold stars. Satisfactory Andrew Garcia : By now, Garcia’s shtick has become clear: He takes a pop tune and turns it inside out. The judges were not impressed by his remix of Fall Out Boy’s “Sugar We’re Going Down,” but it hardly deserved such vociferous hate from them. If anything, Simon and his crew seem to be knocking down a front-runner just so that he might rise from the ashes later in the season. Make no mistake: Garcia is still the singer to beat this season. Todrick Hall : Hall took the judges’ instruction to be creative and ran with it … possibly off a cliff. It’s never good when words used to describe a performance include “murder,” “torture” and “verging on stupid.” But you know what? With his re-jiggered version of Kelly Clarkson’s “Since U Been Gone,” Hall displayed guts and creativity, and has us looking forward to his performance next week. He shouldn’t have a problem making it through. Joe Mu
