Cassie, Solange, And Selita Ebanks Talk “Good Hair” And More With Lisa Price! [Video]
Some folks might call this nepotism. Diddy’s concubine Cassie, Kanye’s concubine Selita Ebanks and Jay-Z’s sister-in-law Solange Knowles have all been named as spokesmodels for Carol’s Daughter. The ladies are the subject of a recent WWD feature, which is excerpted below: Carol’s Daughter aims to showcase the customers who can’t be neatly slotted into one category or another. Take, for instance, Cassie, who is of black and Filipina descent, or Ebanks, who has Jamaican, Irish, Indian and African heritage and grew up in the Cayman Islands. Knowles is of African-American and French Creole descent. “They will serve as cultural ambassadors in bringing forth this acceptance that the definition of beauty is now colorless,” said Steve Stoute. “There are no longer boxes of white, black, Latina, Asian. More and more women are checking the other box.” According to Stoute, the trio was chosen because aside from their beauty “they share the vision and embody the messaging in their attitude, appearance, projects and core values.” “Carol’s Daughter doesn’t have just one direct demographic,” said Ebanks. “Solange’s hair is a different texture than mine; so is Cassie’s. Our skin and body types are different. Today, people are blended, and I think the three of us are a prime example. Women in my family range from vanilla to the deepest chocolate.” While the brand will continue to use longtime spokespeople and investors Jada Pinkett Smith and Mary J. Blige, as well as [founder] Lisa Price, in brand visuals, the three new spokeswomen speak to the “millennial generation, which is basically a colorless society,” said Stoute. Cassandra Ventura has been the subject of a polarizing debate since her debut on the music scene in 2006 with her smash Myspace-turned-radio hit “Me and U”. If everyone else, (besides the UK’s top rated newspaper The Guardian) had as much appreciation for non-sanging pretty ’singers’ like Cassie, she’d be a much bigger entity by now. Although Cassie doesn’t have the vocal chops comparative to your Beyonce’s and Jennifer Hudson’s, her vocals are not the worst and they work well on kinetic, infectious club beats. I’m actually shocked that the 24-year-old has a growing cult of hardcore supporters, but that would be down to the singer impacting the dance and electronic world. Apparently, a tribute mixtape was put together which involved several underground artists remixing and re-producing many of her tracks. Tri Angle Records boss Robin Carolan celebrated the new year by getting the words ‘Me & U’ tattooed on his arm. He states: “In her vocals, there’s a lot of space; from a producer’s point of view that’s what you want, you can completely mash it up and reconstruct it”. The Cassie appreciation was evident when last year, English DJ-producer Deadboy released ‘Cash Antics Vol. 1′. The compilation remixed her vocals, and the ‘Skydiver’ compilation involved dubstep producers Brackles and Jacques Greene reworking her tunes. Carolan continues: “For my artists, such as oOoOO and How to Dress Well—the idea of Cassie singing on their tracks is a dream. Others might view her as a has-been, but in this world she’s a legend. It sounds like she’s trapped in ice. There’s this stillness to [her voice]. Even though she’s not forcefully singing she still demands your attention”. However you feel about Cassie is your business. Does she have a lil hoe swag? Maybe. Is she EVER going to have a song that matters again? Ehhhh, probably not. But will she always have your attention for one reason or another? Damn skippy! Source

A-Rod who? Or more recently, Thom Yorke who? According to People , Kate Hudson hopped a plane to Paris over the weekend and attended the second of two sold-out shows for the British rock band Muse. There, Kate stood in front in an audio tent amid a crowd of 80,000 at the Stade de France. Seems like an awfully long way to go to check out a concert, right? Not if she’s dating the band’s frontman, Matthew Bellamy, a singer, guitarist and songwriter who was seen strolling through a square in Paris with Kate Sunday. “They seemed very much a couple,” a witness said. Are Kate Hudson and Matthew Bellamy a thing? The two were “just walking together, enjoying the sunshine,” and later that afternoon, Hudson and Bellamy opted for a late lunch at the celebrated Brasserie Lipp. Couple or not, the pair were seen leaving through a rear exit of the eatery when celebrity gossip photographers turned up outside. Makes you wonder, eh? Bellamy, of course, isn’t the first musician to catch Hudson’s eye. She was previously married to (and has a son with) Chris Robinson of the Black Crowes. She was also linked to Thom Yorke of Radiohead fame earlier this year, after more publicly dating the New York Yankees’ Alex Rodriguez for much of 2009. In other news, did anyone ever sort out if those Kate Hudson boob job rumors were real? We have no clue. Anyway, good job Matthew! Hope it works out! Did Kate Hudson really get implants?

Bauer Griffin. Cassie looks rather sophisticated. Singer Cassie is in Paris this week, presumably to accompany her rumored boyfriend P. Diddy to a round of fashion week shows. The lovely lady, who shaved half her head a few months back, was sported leaving the Gareth Pugh show rocking a new look, proving that it is possible to be versatile with half a shaved head. Cassie's hair, now a soft honey hue, was twisted into an elegant side bun for, giving her an air of Parisian sophistication. I wasn't on board when Cassie shaved her head; it seemed like a publicity stunt. Now, though, I think it looks fantastic on her – she's pretty enough to pull anything off. What do you think?
