PETA Pleads for End to “Anti-Animal" Rhetoric, Is the Butt of Every Joke

DISCLAIMER: We love animals at The Hollywood Gossip. We have an entire section of our website dedicated to dog photos and we look at it any time we feel sad. That said, we do not love the way PETA approaches its mission of trying to protect the rights of animals; not when most of its ads and statements seem more focused on garnering attention than actually protecting said animals. Case in point: accusing Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra of horse abuse at their wedding. Another case in point: equating anti-animal language with racism and homophobia. Yes, PETA has actually done this with a Tweet and a chart that is thankfully so ridiculous that Twitter has gone straight from outrage to mockey. See what we mean below… 1. Words Matter What? Huh? What phrases is PETA even talking about here?!? 2. So Glad You Asked! This is a real chart. These are examples of “anti-animal language” PETA would like us to stop using, replacing the phrases with the suggestions to the right. 3. Take It Away, Twitter! Internet users had many responses to this chart, starting with a few serious ones such as the one above. 4. This Should Be Our Concern? REALLY?!? 5. Did This Just Happen? 6. FIXED! The responses then started getting more humorous… and awesome. View Slideshow

62 Writers From Lena Waithe’s ‘Black Women Who Brunch’ Talk #BlackGirlMagic In Hollywood

Source: Morgan Lieberman / Getty Some boomin’ #BlackGirlMagic… The Hollywood Reporter Features “Black Women Who Brunch” Lena Waithe’s collective of black female writers in Hollywood is being positively profiled. Black Women Who Brunch was started by Waithe, writer Nkechi Okoro Carroll of the CW’s ““All American” and Erika Johnson of OWN’s “Queen Sugar” in 2014. The entertainment networking group is comprised of nearly 80 members who meet monthly for potlucks. 62 of said members recently gathered to discuss navigating the rampant racism and sexism in Hollywood and the results were glorious. The ladies told The Hollywood Reporter about the inequality they face… “We have such little room for error. We have to be exceptional. Those writers who always move up despite being ‘just OK?’ None of them are Black women. If a White male staff writer is bad, it’ll never keep those in power from hiring another White guy. I’ve heard people say that they ‘tried’ to hire diverse, but the Black writer they hired didn’t work out, so they never hired a Black person again. Incredible.”—Marquita Robinson, co-producer on “Glow” Britt Matt, executive story editor, A.P. Bio (NBC) Before anyone even reads your material, you’re often already placed in a box or categorized based on your race and gender. Some showrunners won’t read you unless they’re looking for a writer that fits your demographic. Pilar Golden, story editor, God Friended Me (CBS) In most rooms, there is only one of “us,” either male or female. When there is only one slot, you, along with every writer of color at every agency or unsigned, are vying for that. and also about how this group’s practice of kinship over competition has helped them thrive. According to the ladies BWWB has helped them book gigs, managers and agents and provided them a sisterhood. Cynthia Adarkwa, staff writer, In the Vault (Complex Networks) Trying to traverse this unique career can at times be such a s***storm. With these women, I’m able to air frustrations and talk strategy in a safe and judgment-free zone. I’ve bothered Erika Johnson quite a few times about career moves (sorry girl, but also thank you so much). It’s been priceless and keeps me going on the hardest days. Kibuka Many of its members were responsible for helping to facilitate much of my incremental progress toward finally becoming a TV staff writer, such as guiding me in my management/agency search, helping with targeted prep for showrunner meetings and, most important, being an empathetic body of solace and strength when navigating the highs and lows of the creative process. Stacey Evans Morgan, consulting producer, Family Time (Bounce TV) Iron sharpens iron, and when we come together to break bread, it’s comforting to know that there is a fellow sister scribe who has your back. The job information shared is also amazing, as one member may have the inside scoop on a staffing opportunity, and the ability to put in a good word with a showrunner on your behalf. It’s great to see black women kinship being promoted especially in such an epic way. The “Black Women Who Brunch” feature was The Hollywood Reporter’s biggest shoot EVER. Read the full story here.

Cardi B Probably Dumped Offset Because He Tried to Have a Threesome… Without Her

Cardi B and Offset are no longer a couple. This news, confirmed by Cardi B herself on Tuesday night, does not exactly come as a shock. Not when you consider Offset’s history of cheating, procreating children out of wedlock and simply being called Offset. But the reason why Cardi B finally ended things with her baby daddy?  The reason why she said the two simply “grew out of love” and will just be “friends” and “business partners” going forward? It may at least cause you to do a quick double take. The artists got secretly married last year and welcomed a daughter named Kulture in July. However, while Cardi was anxious to f-ck Offset as soon as possible as becoming a first-time mother, TMZ has now published pretty strong evidence that proves Offset was trying to f-ck around on Cardi just prior to this milestone. The idiot has been caught trying to arrange a threesome. The aforementioned celebrity gossip site has shared screneshots of a text message exchange between Offset and a woman who goes by the name Summer Bunni. In this exchange, Offset is attempting to convince Bunni to meet him in Atlanta with a female rapper named Cuban Doll in order for the trio to have sex. As you can see below, it doesn’t take much convincing, really. Bunni is totally down for this mini orgy: TMZ says that the screenshot was leaked by a woman who is mad at Cuban — and that the conversation took place on June 28, just a couple weeks before Cardi B gave birth. For those who think such a back-and-forth could be edited or doctored, this same source also leaked a photo of Offset on FaceTime. “Oh so @cubanndsavae you wasn’t gone have a 3 sumn with @offsetyrn” reads the message attached to the damning photo. Shortly after news of this alleged threesome attempt went viral, two things happened. First, Summer Bunni acknowledged her possible role in Cardi and Offset’s breakup, telling TMZ that she felt terrible about it. “I have not messed with Offset since he’s had his baby,” she said in a video sent to the site, adding: “I didn’t know how serious this marriage was. A lot of girls would just deal with this situation and just be like, ‘yo, I’m the reason they’re getting a divorce.’” Ms. Bunni continued: “I feel ashamed. It’s a lot, but just coming from me and to Cardi B and to our fans, to her family to her situation, these were never my intentions and I never wanted to break up a happy home.” In Bunni’s defense, the future for Offset and Cardi B looked rather bleak even if her relationship with the former had not been exposed. “So everybody been bugging me and everything and you know I’ve been trying to work things out with my baby father for a hot minute now,” Cardi said in her own video, announcing the split. She went on to say it was “nobody’s fault” that the relationship concluded, saying on camera: “We are really good friends and we are really good business partners – you know he’s always somebody that I run to to talk to, and we got a lot of love for each other but things just haven’t been working out between us for a long time.” The second thing that happened yesterday, though, is that Cardi shared the first real photo to date of her baby. Just look at little Kulture! Finally, Summer Bunni also took to Instagram in the wake of this scandal and wrote the following on Wednesday: Goodmorning, a quick letter to the fans, followers and social media outlets. During this last 48 hours, I haven’t enjoyed the social media frenzy. not only is it draining but humbling. I will always be woman enough to admit when I’m wrong, and in this situation I was. Seeing another woman’s pain does not bring me any joy, nor do I think it’s funny. I’ve always been for women supporting each other but in this situation, not only myself but others have failed. I separated myself from certain situations and people for a reason. This is not a letter for sympathy but acknowledgment to everyone whom as questions. Going into 2019 focused and dedicated to becoming a better me. Thank y’all – summer. Neither Offset nor Cuban Doll have yet responded to the threesome allegation. We cannot verify whether or not it actually took place.

So Scary: #LHHH’s Lyrica Says She ‘Thought She Was Dying’ After Giving Birth To Baby Ocean

Source: FayesVision/WENN.com / FayesVision/WENN.com Lyrica Anderson Shares Pregnancy Complications Lyrica Anderson is a proud new mom to baby Ocean Zion Bentley, but before basking in bliss with her baby boy she had a scare. Lyrica and her hubby A-1 welcomed their son last week but according to Lyrica, she had shocking complications including convulsions and a high fever. The “Love and Hip Hop Hollywood” star told TMZ via her hospital bed that she initially worried she’d deliver baby Ocean early due to the stress of LHHHH and the Safaree accusations—but luckily made it full term. “First of all, it was a tough pregnancy. Not the symptoms, well the symptoms a little bit, but it was just a lot of emotional things going on and I just kept worrying that I didn’t want to have like an accidental early birth or go into labor from stress or anything like that,” she said. “So, praise God, I made it with my full term. And then, I thought I was in the clear.” After giving birth, however, her temperature went sky high and she started shaking and itching uncontrollably. Lyrica was so scared that she actually thought she was dying. “Once we had the baby I was like, ‘Oh my God, we did it!’ Everything was ok. And then after the birth is when it got a little traumatic,” she said. “I ran a super high fever out of nowhere. I started going into some sort of convulsions. I couldn’t stop shaking for a good seven hours straight. Just shaking, shaking, shaking with a fever, and then I couldn’t stop itching. They had to literally bring toothbrushes in my room to let me scratch my skin so that I wouldn’t pierce my skin. And it was the scariest thing because I’m shaking and itching. I literally thought I was dying. Like, honestly I was so scared. Why am I shaking so much?” Source: Gabriel Olsen / Getty She also added that she thought she was having a heart attack but luckily the chest pains passed. She’s now recovering. “They said that they’ve seen bad reactions but that was like one of the worst that they’ve seen, so they were definitely concerned,” she said. “They were constantly checking my vitals to make sure that my heart — ’cause I got really bad chest pains. I was like, I want to make sure I’m not having a heart attack. They were constantly checking my heart, constantly checking my blood, my temperature and everything. They’ve had me on very close watch. They’ve done, actually, a really good job, so I’m happy about that. I’m still really weak when I stand up. I have the most energy when I’m sitting…It’s when I get up and walk around that I’m real weak and faint-ish. They said it’s going to get better with time.” Lyrica’s since gone home with baby Ocean… but so far she’s not showing her baby’s face. We’re glad to hear that Lyrica’s doing much better after having those scary complications.

Jeremy Vuolo to Trash-Talking Trolls: Shut Up About My Daughter!

Jeremy Vuolo is not like the other Duggar husbands. For one thing, he had a job before being welcomed aboard the Duggar gravy train, and it he’s continued to work in the years since he and Jinger tied the knot. On top of that, Jeremy is a bit — pardon the use of a phrase that would certainly not earn the Duggar stamp of approval — ballsier than the other men who married into the Counting On clan. Whether it’s patriarch Jim Bob or the legions of trolls that love to hurl invective at everything the Duggar women post, Jeremy is not one to back down from a conflict. And today he proved his willingness to class with the haters after posting this pic on Instagram: “Afternoon in the garden,” Jeremy captioned the image. A cute pic — or at the very least a harmless one — but fans took issue with it because of Felicity’s head wrap , which has weirdly been a topic of considerable debate in recent weeks. One rapier wit who goes by the name thefoode_doode had this to say: “What you got a doughnut wrapped around that kids head??” “No but it’d be remarkably convenient if it was,” Jeremy promptly replied. Yes, within minutes, Jeremy not only clapped back, he clapped back with a joke. As In Touch Weekly points out, fans were quick to praise Jeremy’s snappy response. “Love the reply back. Precious little girl!” one wrote . It’s a refreshing change of pace from the usual Duggar dourness. This guy is so far removed from the family he married into that he’s practically the anti-Duggar. Okay, so that’s more than a bit of an exaggeration. Jeremy is still a far-right evangelical who believes that everything from everything from alcohol to dancing to premium cable TV is the work of the devil. But it’s not hard to see why the most rebellious Duggar was so drawn to him. The Duggars are generally counseled by their parents to refrain from engaging in any sort of conflict. And with few exceptions, they abide by this unwritten rule.  But clearly, Jeremy isn’t happy with that approach. Here’s hoping his wife will soon follow suit and start roasting her many haters for our enjoyment. View Slideshow: Jinger Duggar Shares Adorable Pics of Her “Little Family,” Melts Fans’ Hearts

Jessica Simpson to Natalie Portman: Stop Slut-Shaming Me!

Here’s an unexpected blast-from-the-past feud that’s sure to delight all you ’90s kids. Or it’s a very serious matter that speaks to the delicate issues of these divisive times. This is kind of a “choose your own adventure” story in that way. Natalie Portman and Jessica Simpson are still A-listers, but in 1999, they were two of the biggest names on the planet. And it seems that their careers and public images were headed in divergent directions even way back then. Natalie gave an interview to USA Today  this week as part of her promotional tour for her upcoming film Vox Lux . The movie is about a teen who unexpectedly becomes a pop star, so perhaps it should come as no surprise that Natalie remarked on one of the biggest pop stars from her own teen years: “I remember being a teenager, and there was Jessica Simpson on the cover of a magazine saying ‘I’m a virgin’ while wearing a bikini, and I was confused,” she told the newspaper. “Like, I don’t know what this is trying to tell me as a woman, as a girl.” It was an odd (though not necessarily offensive) remark, and Jessica was quick to clap back: “@Natalieportman I was disappointed this morning when I read that I ‘confused’ you by wearing a bikini in a published photo taken of me when I was still a virgin in 1999,” Simpson wrote on Instagram.  “As public figures, we both know our image is not totally in our control at all times, and that the industry we work in often tries to def8ine us and box us in,” she added. “However, I was taught myself, and honor the different ways all women express themselves,” she said. “Which is why I believed then, and believe now, that being sexy in a bikini is not synonymous with having sex.” “I have always embraced being a role model to all women to let them know that they can look however they want, wear whatever they want and have sex or not have sex with whomever they want. “The power lies within us as individuals.” Simpson concluded with a not-so-subtle allegation that Natalie is a hypocrite for making such comments despite her high-profile involvement with the Time’s Up movement. “I have made it my practice to not shame other women for their choices,” Simpson posted. “In this era of Times Up and the great work you have done for women, I encourage you to do the same.” Yeah, as much as we love Natalie, and as much as she may have intended no harm, we’re afraid Ms. Portman is gonna have to go ahead and take the L on this one. Jessica was a sex symbol in the late ’90s, a time in which young female pop stars were encouraged to dress and dance provocatively, all while insisting on their chastity and purity in interviews. It was a gross trend, but Jessica certainly wasn’t to blame for it, and she shouldn’t be forced to answer for it 20 years later. As a result of this misstep, Natalie will be forced to surrender half of her woke points and attend compulsory classes at the Lena Dunham Institute for Re-Wokening.
