Lady Gaga, Kesha Trash Katy Perry in Leaked Texts: She’s So Mean!

Back in 2016,  Kesha alleged that she was raped by famed record music producer Dr. Luke. Luke has worked with some of the biggest names in pop over the course of his career, and Kesha insisted that she was not his only victim. In court documents that were unsealed last year, Kesha accused Luke of raping Katy Perry, and to the surprise of many, Perry remained silent on the matter. But while she never spoke out on social media, Perry did respond to the allegations in court. And it seems the singer was not happy to be dragged into a legal battle she wanted no part in. In a 2017 deposition unsealed today and obtained by Radar Online, Katy makes her feelings on the situation very clear: “Annoyed, pissed off that she would bring me into it in this way, annoyed at both Luke and Kesha,” Perry replied when asked how she felt about Kesha’s claims. Perry stated that she was never assaulted by Luke, but declined to support him publicly, as she knew her fans would be “very angry” if she were to defend an accused rapist. “I would be attacked, I would be the one woman that is against women and I’m not against women, but I believe in innocent until proven guilty and I believe in justice,” she told the court. “I want to stay out of it because I know them both and I empathize with both of them and obviously it’s a horrible situation for both of them,” she added. “And the only two people that know what really went on are those two people.” Today’s unsealed files also contain a transcript of a 2016 text message conversation between Kesha and Lady Gaga on the subject of Perry: “Was crying a lot today and needed my mom,” Kesha told her fellow pop star. “I’m really upset with Katy Perry … She could bring the whole thing to a head…She was raped by the same man. She is probably really afraid to lose everything.” “U are really strong standing up to him, she’s not as strong as u yet,” Gaga assured her friend, adding: “Have you talked to her?” “[You’re] right. I need to find sympathy and empathy for her. She’s so mean. It’s hard,” Kesha responded. “Do you want me to see if I can talk to her?” Gaga said. “I know she’s mean.” Kesha was definitive in response, texting, “OMG, NO!” in response to Gaga’s offer to intervene. While no criminal charges have been filed against Luke, he and Kesha have both filed civil suits against one another. Their legal battle remains ongoing. Southwest Airlines Apologizes, Says No One Should Laugh at the Name Abcde

The internet lost its mind after learning that a woman named her actual daughter “Abcde.” The furious mother complained that her child had been mocked by an airline employee who couldn’t believe the name on the boarding pass. Now, Southwest Airlines is apologizing profusely. Traci Redford says that her 5-year-old daughter, whose actual name is Abcde, was insulted and mocked by an airline employee. The girl’s name is pronounced ab-city . And yes, it is objectively funny on every level. However, Traci was not amused when a Southwest Airlines employee at John Wayne Airport in California laughed at the name on her daughter’s boarding pass. She was even less amused that the employee apparently photographed the girl’s name on the boarding pass in order to share it on social media. Now, Southwest has issued an apology. In a statement to People , Southwest Airlines profusely apologized for their employee’s very human reaction. “We extend our sincere apology to the family,” the statement begins. “We take great pride in extending our Southwest Hospitality to all of our Customers,” Southwest continues. The statement continues: “which includes living by the Golden Rule and treating every individual with respect, in person or online.” “The post is not indicative of the care, respect, and civility we expect from all of our Employees,” the airline says. “We have followed up with the Employee involved,” Southwest’s apology continues. That sounds … unpleasant for everyone involved. “And,” Southwest says. “While we do not disclose personnel actions publicly.” The statement continues: “we are using this as an opportunity to reinforce our policies.” Hopefully, that means making it a teaching moment, rather than making an example of those involved. “And,” Southwest concludes, they are working to “emphasize our expectations for all Employees.” Traci Redford spoke about the ordeal that her daughter experienced at the airport. “The gate agent started mocking my child’s name, laughing” Traci described. Traci said that the employee was “pointing at me and my daughter and talking to other employees.” “So,” Traci described. “I turned around and just said, ‘Hey, I can hear you, so if I can hear you, my daughter can, too. I’d appreciate it if you’d just stop.'” Apparently her daughter was puzzled: “She asked me, ‘Mom, why is she laughing at my name?’” “And,” Traci continued. “I said, ‘You know, honey, not everybody is nice, and not everyone is going to be nice, and it’s unfortunate.'” “While I was sitting there,” Traci accused. “She took a picture of my boarding pass and chose to post it on social media.” Traci clearly resents the employee apparently “mocking my daughter,” “It was actually brought to my attention by somebody who had seen it on Facebook,” Traci reveals. Yeah, we do have to say that, laughter may be involuntary, but uploading to social media? That’s a choice. (The “thirst” equivalent of this situation would be, like, the Alex From Target incident) “And,” Traci concluded, she “reported it to Southwest Airlines.” Children cannot help their names. Even adults have to go to court in order to get their names legally changed, and it takes time and money. As funny as a name like Abcde may be, it is totally inappropriate for anyone — especially an employee in the service industry — to mock a child to her face. Children can be very sensitive to these things. Instead, people should focus their ire on the mother, who cursed her with that name — which looks like a joke or a typo — in the first place. Someone who is not a Southwest employee should have explained to her that she was setting up her daughter for decades of ridicule. From elementary school classrooms to job applications, her daughter is going to face challenges that she does not deserve because of that name. View Slideshow: 22 People That Are Actually Named This

#CapCityXmas18: HBCU Grads Host Christmas Benefit In Honor Of Their Three Late Classmates

#CapCityXmas18 An annual benefit party is happening in Washington D.C. for a foundation dedicated in remembrance to three fallen friends. Now in its eighth year, the Capital City Christmas Classic is more than a holiday get-together, it’s a party with a purpose that’s benefitting the SVGS Foundation this year. The foundation has a mission to empower, educate and encourage deserving and committed African American male scholars to attend Historically Black College and Universities. It was founded in remembrance of three HBCU classmates who passed away in fall 2009, spring 2011, and spring 2018 respectively. SVGS stands for Seeking Visions, Gaining Success. It’s an acronym and phrase that the friend group often bonded over through college and in the immediate years after. “Cap City Xmas is the epitome of making “FUNdraising”,” says Mark Williams, Capital City Christmas Classic creator, and SVGS President. “Over the years, we’ve built it from being a meaningless house party, to being the cities most anticipated Holiday party of the year. As we grew in our careers, we felt compelled to make the event more about giving back to our community, and less about just turning up for the holidays. In the past the event benefited the likes of Toys 4 Tots and the HBCU foundation.” This year’s celebration takes place at the 999 E street Hard Rock Cafe and will include an open bar option, music from DJ Juanski and DJ Nitecrawler and a holiday sweater contest. Source: Patrick Harbron / Patrick Harbron/Netflix Talk about a surprise in terms of Netflix news. After letting  Luke Cage go along with  Iron Fist , the streaming service announced late Thursday that they were cancelling  Daredevil , the longest running Marvel series on Netflix. The show had just completed its third season. “Marvel’s  Daredevil  will not return for a fourth season on Netflix,” the company said, per Deadline . “We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note. We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.” With  Daredevil ‘s cancellation, there is only two shows under the Marvel umbrella on Netflix:  The Punisher and  Jessica Jones . There’s no word on whether or not Daredevil will return on Disney’s streaming service when it launches. “Unfortunately, Marvel’s  Luke Cage  will not return for a third season,” Marvel and Netflix said in a statement at the time of the announcement. “Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series.” RELATED:  Kingpin Back: Trailer For ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Drops RELATED:  ‘Luke Cage’ Canceled At Netflix RELATED:  The Marvel Cinematic Universe Remembers Stan Lee: “There Will Never Be Another”

The Rewind: We Checked Out ‘Robin Hood’ And Let You Know Whether You Should Too

See original here:

Source: Global Grind / Global Grind Another episode of The Rewind is here and we are more than happy to give you your much-needed dose of recap reality. Every week we revisit some of the pop culture trends, movies, viral moments and music from the week before and give our hot takes. Our experts Landon Lavarius and DJ Franchise share their opinions, sprinkle in some facts and then when it’s all over and done with, provide a rating of 1 to 10. We listen to the songs, watch the movies, scour the internet, and do the hard work so you don’t have to. On today’s episode, we’re getting into the new Robin Hood film. Unless you’ve lived under a rock your entire life, you probably know the story of Robin Hood pretty well. He was a well-meaning thief that robbed the rich to give to the poor. There have been a ton of movies based on the story of Robin Hood but this particular one came out on November 21, 2018 and stars Taron Egerton, Jamie Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn and others. It was produced by  Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Davisson Killoran, and Basil Iwanyk. The story is a classic and other Robin Hood movies (and cartoons) have seemingly been received well. However, this one? Not so much. Rotten Tomatoes gave it a 16% on the Tomatometer and with a production budget of $100 million, the film only brought in a total gross of $25.9 million worldwide. To say it flopped would be an understatement. The new Robin Hood was a box office bomb. But was it really bad or was it overshadowed by the release of Creed II, which did amazing in the box office? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius give their take. We also break down last week’s rap battle between Joyner Lucas and Tory Lanez. The two exchanged some friendly fire after Tory Lanez got a little cocky on Instagram Live and said that Joyner Lucas couldn’t see him lyrically. Joyner challenged him to a bar for bar battle that resulted in several diss tracks between the two. It’s cool though, they are both still fans of one another and did it all for the love of hip hop. Did you get to listen for yourself? DJ Franchise and Landon Levarius give us a break down, and of course a rating, of the freestyles on today’s episode of The Rewind . Watch the full episode at the top of the page and let us know how you feel!

In White Folks News: Disney Screenwriter Criticized For Comparing Being Anti-Vaccination To Calling Someone The N-Word

Source: Barry King / Getty Screenwriter Uses The N-Word In Tweet About Being Anti-Vaccination Oscar-nominated screenwriter Terry Rossio, who worked on films including  Shrek ,  Aladdin , and the  Pirates of the Caribbean  franchise, is getting a lot of heat on Twitter for using the n-word in a tweet about vaccines. Earlier this week,  The 100  writer Julie Benson posted information via Twitter on how people could donate vaccinations to others through UNICEF. In the post, screenshot by Julie, it was suggested as a way to donate vaccines in the name of a relative who is anti-vaccination. Brilliant! pic.twitter.com/O08JZWu5is — Julie Benson (@TheJulieBenson) November 23, 2018 Rossio responded to her tweet the next morning, writing, “My heart goes out to all the parents of vaccine damaged children, who have to not only endure the sadness of their loss, but also the vitriol of ill-informed and insensitive people (such as those here). Anti-Vax is equivalent to calling someone a n***er and makes as little sense.” My heart goes out to all the parents of vaccine damaged children, who have to not only endure the sadness of their loss, but also the vitriol of ill-informed and insensitive people (such as those here). Anti-Vax is equivalent to calling someone a nigger and makes as little sense. — Terry Rossio (@TerryRossio) November 23, 2018 Of course, Terry is being roasted by critics, noting that calling someone anti-vaccination is literally not at all the same as calling them the n-word. He even doubled down on his point in a later reply. Do you realize that you are using the equivalent of the 'n-word' in promoting memes that tag people as 'anti-vax?' Do you realize that the same collectivist stereotyping lies behind belittling any group with a label? Do you have no feelings for vaccine damaged kids and parents? — Terry Rossio (@TerryRossio) November 23, 2018 Fellow writer Jeff Grubb joined in on those criticizing Terry, sarcastically replying, “God, this is such a good point. I remember how American founders and citizens enslaved vaccine skeptics for decades. And then, even after freeing them, the government enshrined laws to marginalize vaccine deniers and to deny them wealth and opportunity. That’s just history.” God, this is such a good point. I remember how American founders and citizens enslaved vaccine skeptics for decades. And then, even after freeing them, the government enshrined laws to marginalize vaccine deniers and to deny them wealth and opportunity. That's just history. — Jeffrey Grubb (@JeffGrubb) November 23, 2018 Check out some more tweets below of people going in on Rossio for his completely misinformed comparison of being anti-vaccination to being called the n-word. Seems like just yesterday that Dylan Roof slaughtered that room full of the un-vaccinated. — Sean E. (@SeanMichaelE) November 24, 2018   And it’s not like anti-Vaxxers have any control over being anti-Vaxxers. — Irina (@IrinaMikhale) November 24, 2018   They aren't vaccine skeptics. They are raving anti-vaxxer loons who ignore the overwhelming body of scientific evidence on vaccinations. And these nutjobs endanger children's lives. — John Smith (@GOP_U) November 24, 2018   pic.twitter.com/qR9ZAwTRV2 — Horatio Velveteen (@illbegotdamn) November 24, 2018   There are no peer-reviewed scientific journals that conclude vaccines are harmful. You have no proof, and your anti-intellectualism is going to get kids killed when hapless parents see your posts and decide that *their* kid can probably survive measles (spoilers: they can't). — Jimi Brady (@JimiBrady) November 24, 2018   You’re right. “Anti-vax” is an inaccurate term. “Pro-disease” is far more appropriate. — Deborah Cottrell (@batgirlgsxr) November 24, 2018   This tweet is disgusting, of all the words in the English language you had to use that one? Yet you call yourself a writer? As a white person that word makes me feel shame, and sadness I could never use it. This tweet says a lot about you, none of it good. — Terri Thompson (@oneleglover) November 24, 2018

Really?!? Black Army Vet Killed By Police Was NOT Actual Gunman In Birmingham Mall Shooting

Source: South_agency / Getty Birmingham Police Killed Innocent Army Vet In Mall Shooting We’re really sick and tired of cops shooting first and asking questions last . That strategy usually seems to leave a bloody Black body behind, often times an innocent one. Many of you are aware of the shooting that took place following a fight on Thanksgiving day inside a Birmingham, Alabama shopping mail where an 18-year-old boy was shot twice and a 12-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet. Police responded and gunned down the man they believed to be the shooter. Well, according to DailyMail, that man, 21-year-old Army vet and son-of-a-cop, Emantic Fitzgerald Bradford Jr., was not the shooter as local police have now announced. The police revealed new video evidence showing that Bradford may have been attempting to break up the fight between the 18-year-old and another man, but he did not do the shooting. pic.twitter.com/uTZSrua1On — Hoover Police Dept (@HooverPD) November 24, 2018 That said, police say Bradford was running away from them while brandishing a gun and that’s their justification for killing him. You can rest assured that the NRA won’t insert their “good guys with guns” narrative into this story. I knew him and worked with him. He was an amazing and sweet guy. My heart aches for his family. He was shot and murdered on site in cold blood. He was exercising his 2A rights, but since he was black, became a threat to the white Hoover PD. — StaceFace (@Halcyon83) November 24, 2018 Hoover PD is super aggressive. I wish I could say I'm surprised. Where is the NRA's outrage? Or does the good guy with a gun thing only apply to whites too? We have innocent citizens being murdered by police in our streets and public places – what happened to American justice? — Jelly Robbins (@RobbinsJelly) November 24, 2018 Suffice to say, the community is angry. If everyone else in the mall was pulling out their guns how they knew who the shooter was and how we know the shooter shot that girl ? Police could have did it in the cross fire. They got a mess in Hoover — Jas Mon'Vogue (@JassyBravo) November 24, 2018 I’ve known Ej Bradford since middle school! Bruh ain’t had a bad trait about him. All he did was put laughter into people. Always kept a smile on his face every single time I saw him. He always kept it G. He was murdered wrongly and Hoover police need to admit it and come clean. — oogway

Queen Things: Nicki Minaj Handed Out 500 Thanksgiving Turkeys In Jamaica, Queens [Video]

Source: Alexander Tamargo / Getty A Lil Positivity: Nicki Minaj Gave Away Turkeys In Queen ICYMI,  Nicki Minaj was handing out holiday cheer in Queens the day before Thanksgiving. The rapper returned to her old neighborhood, where folks lined the streets in 20-something degree weather waiting to catch a glimpse or to exchange words with Onika. Nicki arrived ready to handout 500 turkeys to folks in the area in honor of Sean Bell , a man who was gunned down in November 2006 by police as he was leaving his bachelor party.   Although Nicki was there to bring hope and a fat bird to those who needed it, she was practically forcing the turkeys on some fans who just wanted to see her in the flesh. This funny exchange was captured on her Instagram live story. Nicki says this was the actual street she grew up on when a fan rolled up on her saying “I need to see my mother!” The generous @NickiMinaj is in her hometown of Queens, New York giving out Turkeys for Thanksgiving. pic.twitter.com/Ru8Rj6Ctb0 — Pop Crave (@PopCrave) November 21, 2018 Hilarity!
