Megyn Kelly is Trying Really Hard to Be Relevant Again

Remember when Megyn Kelly introduced herself to NBC viewers by saying she would not discuss politics as the host of Megyn Kelly Today? Hmmm… perhaps we ought to back up a bit and first ask instead: Remember Megyn Kelly?!? The former Fox News anchor made headlines on a near-daily basis back during her time as a host on that network. She even hosted a debate between Donald Trump and the pathetic politicians he managed to beat out for the Republican Presidential nomination in 2016! Kelly was a relevant member of the press, that's our point here. Then, she left Fox News for NBC… stirred up quite a bit of controversy with her arrival … landed her own hour on The Today Show… and tried to become a Kelly Ripa-like television presence. Kelly was suddenly all nice and normal and tried to be the woman next door who just has a few kids and a husband at home and who wants to gab about the latest fashion trends, as opposed to the latest political happenings. Then her ratings tanked. Then she interview Alex Jones (!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!). And now she's irrelevant.  This brings us to Monday morning and Kelly's return to the political arena, as she hosted a round table discussion with NBC's Hallie Jackson, PBS' Amy Holmes and Rolling Stone contributing editor Joe Levy. The topic at hand? Embattled Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and the multiple accusations of sexual misconduct that have been made against him over the past several days. “What a mess, that's a clean version of what I was thinking in my head,” Kelly said at the top of the conversation, later making it clear that she's on Team Kavanaugh and adding she has no idea why Democrats would push for the FBI to investigate the aforementioned allegations. “[The FBI's] not a super-secret special police force to investigate super-secret really bad things the nominee may have done. That's why we have congressional investigators,” she said. “The Republicans actually are investigating the Christine Blasey Ford allegations and the Democrats have refused to do so! “They're standing there in protest saying the FBI needs to do it, which doesn't really help us.” Two quick things here: Isn't the FBI precisely a special type of police force whose mission is to get to the bottom of confusing and complicated cases of national importance? The FBI did investigate Anita Hill's claims in 1991 than then-Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas sexually harassed her. Later in this segment, Kelly cuts off a panelist and emphasizes: “He's saying he didn’t do it. He's not saying that those allegations against him amount to nothing if he did! He's saying he didn’t do it!” Oh, well, that changes everything. If Kavanaugh is saying he didn't do something… why is this even a debate? Watch the heated exchange now!

FBI Ranks Detroit 2nd Most Violent Big City in America

According to TheDetroitNews , in an FBI crime data report released this morning, Detroit has moved up to the 2nd most violent big city in America. The report concludes that murders in the motor city have actually decreased since the FBI’s last Uniform Crime Report in 2017. In that report Detroit sat at a staggering 303 murders, which has dropped significantly to 267 murders. But apparently this doesn’t effect the report because violent crimes outside of murder have increased in the city. In 2016 the city had 13, 705 violent crimes which includes: murder, rape, assault, and robbery. Unfortunately for Detroit that number saw a rise to 13,796 in 2017. Detroit’s crime rate is now at 2,057 violent crimes per 100,000 people. This number is only higher in one city in America; St. Louis, MO. Detroit has beaten other metropolitan cities like Baltimore, Memphis, and Kansas City. The good news is that Detroit is not the city with the highest murder rate, but that comes with bad news as well, we are still in the top three. The highest murder rate also goes to St. Louis, Missouri, with 205 murders at a rate of 66 per 100,000 citizens. Baltimore falls in 2nd place at 342 murders at a rate of 56 per 100,000 citizens, and in third place is our city which is currently sitting at, 40 murders per 100,000 citizens. The Detroit News also reported that violent crimes in the country overall have fallen 0.2 percent over the last year, which is great news for the country overall. We just hope that with the reinvigoration of downtown, that we can possibly get aboard this same objective and bring the violent crime number down in the city. For those who live in the Detroit Metro area, it is no secret that there is a staggering poverty level that seems to be rising within the city, while suburbs notice significant growth in that regard. This is a great contributor to violent crimes, and without an acknowledgment of this we may not see any decreases in violent crimes. This is just another reason why citizens in Detroit and its surrounding cities should make sure to register to vote for Novembers mid-term elections. Drake’s Friendship With Millie Bobby Brown Is Creepy AF

As you’re no doubt aware, celebrities play the game of life by a different set of rules than the rest of us. Behavior that wouldn’t fly for a hot second in the world of plebes is not only condoned but celebrated when it’s perpetrated by an actor with a role in a corporate film franchise or one of the few recording artists that can still sell out a stadium. But if the #MeToo movement has taught us anything, it’s that even for the rich and powerful, there comes a time when society draws a line in the sand. Which is why the whole world is looking at Drake right now with a collective “bruh, WTF are you doing?” expression. As you may have heard, the rapper maintains a close friendship with Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown. Brown opened up about her close relationship with the 31-year-old rapper at the 2018 Emmys  last week, and we imagine every single viewers’ face simultaneously contorted into a perfect replica of the “yikes” emoji.  Millie Bobby Brown on Drake To be clear, Millie is in no way at fault here. We imagine most 14-year-olds would leap at the chance to befriend one of their favorite recording artists. It’s Drake — and to a slightly lesser extent, Millie’s parents — who are deserving of the hard side-eye here. In order to understand how creepy this is, you need only to strip Drizzy of his celebrity status and re-examine the situation as though he were just Some Dude. If you knew nothing about Drake other than the fact that he’s a 31-year-old man who’s in the habit of routinely texting a 14-year-old girl and telling her how much he misses her, whatever shred of sympathy you might have had for the rap world’s answer to Humbert Humbert would likely go right out the window. Like most celebrities, he gets a pass on certain actions that would get him rightly shunned from civilian society. Fortunately, in 2018, powerful men no longer get away with every kind of questionable behavior. We’re not saying Drake is as bad as the worst of the #MeToo offenders, but his image as the non-threatening nice guy of the hip hop world has taken quite a few hits in recent months. As you may recall, the summer of 2018 began with the revelation that Drake has a secret son , with whom he’s barely had any contact. Drake attempted a lame explanation as to why he’s been hiding his son from the world (he was actually hiding the world from his son , the rapper explained, in full earnest-Drizzy mode), but for the most part, the public wasn’t buying his victim routine. Shortly thereafter, we learned that Drake was dating an 18-year-old fan and aspiring model. Again, not illegal — but not the sort of thing that inspires much faith in the man’s character. Now, we have Drake’s relationship with Millie. Again, it’s possible that the rapper entered this situation with the best of intentions, but to say he’s handling it poorly at this point would be to massively understate the awkwardness of how this is all playing out. On social media, Brown has attempted to diffuse the situation (see above), while Drake has kept mum, thus leaving her to twist in the wind. We can only hope dude is quietly extricating himself from the situation and gently explaining to Millie his reasons for doing so. You’ve had a very rough year, Drizzy — time to start earning some redemption.

Al Matthews Dies: Actor Famous for "Aliens" Role Was 75

Actor Al Matthews, best known for his memorable role in the film  Aliens , has died. The iconic actor had retired to Spain, which is where he passed away. He was 75. 75-year-old Al Matthews passed away at his home, according to Spanish newspaper El Pais . Matthews’ home was located in Orihuela Costa, in the Spanish Mediterranean province of Alicante. He had retired to Spain in 2005. Responders found Matthews when a neighbor called emergency services. An autopsy is expected for the late actor. Matthews is, of course, best known for his role as Gunnery Sergeant Apone in James Cameron’s 1986 classic, Aliens . In the science fiction film, he starred alongside living legend Sigourney Weaver. He delivered a truly famous line. “Alright sweethearts, what are you waiting for, breakfast in bed? A day in the Marine Corps is like a day on the farm,” he said on screen. The quote continues: “Every meal’s a banquet! Every paycheck a fortune! Every formation a parade! I love the corps!” That may have been Matthews’ most famous role, but was far from the only one. In fact, he appeared in over 30 films. Matthews portrayed a fire chief in Superman III . He played General Tudor in the cult classic The Fifth Element . He also enjoyed success in the United Kingdom, where he had a role on the UK series, Grange Hill . And speaking of his work across the pond, in 1975, his song, “Fool,” reached #16 on the UK Singles chart. Despite his retirement, Matthews reprised his legendary role as Sgt. Apone in the 2013 video game,  Aliens: Colonial Marines . Perhaps part of what made Matthews’ role in Aliens so iconic and powerful — aside from his acting skills — was that he had been a real life marine in Vietnam. “I spent six years in the United States Marine Corps;” Matthews shared on his personal website. “I hold thirteen combat awards and decorations, including two purple hearts.” He reveals: “I was the first black Marine in the 1st Marine Division in Vietnam to be meritoriously promoted to the rank of sergeant.” That is one hell of an achievement. His website blurb concludes: “I served with Kilo Battery, Fourth Battalion, 11th Marines, 1st Marine Division, of that I am very proud.” Rest in peace, Al Matthews. T.I. Is Curating a Pop-Up Trap Music Museum

So it makes all the sense that the Atlanta rapper is curating a pop-up museum dedicated to the Hip-Hop sub-genre.  Vibe reports that Tip will be curating a pop-up museum in West Atlanta that will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of his sophomore, breakthrough album, Trap Muzik . Reportedly, the installation is being put together with former Hip-Hop Wired editor and veteran Hip-Hop journalist Maurice Garland as well as artist DL Warfield, among others. Besides artwork dedicated to seminal trap music acts like Gucci Mane and Jeezy, there will be an “Escape The Trap” room where participants will get clues and codes that will allow them to get out of the installation. ‘Insecure’ Recap: Issa Turns Social Media Stalker In The Wake Of Nathan’s Absence

Source: The Washington Post / Getty Tonight’s episode of Insecure picks up with Issa having a recurring dream about losing her teeth. According to my Googles that means you feel powerless. That is the perfect analogy for what’s going on tonight because Issa is losing it. No really. It has been a week since Nathan ghosted her and he is all she can think about, despite the fact that she has a block party to plan. She goes off on the deep end stalking him on social media. Spoiler alert, he’s still living his life. Issa, girl… But don’t act like you’ve never done something like that too! Meanwhile, Molly is doing everything she can to ruin any interest Andrew (Nathan’s foine arse Asian friend/roommate) has in her. They end up on a date and surprise, she gives him a hard time, especially when he drops some truth bombs on her. In one instance, he mentions how trifling the situation with Dro was (this was in context to their conversation) and Molly gets pissed because she likes to be delusional and self-sabotage is the name of her game. Andrew is the mirror that Molly desperately needs to peer into but Molly gon’ Molly. What do you expect from a girl who also lies to her therapist? Anyway, she decides to walk out on him. This is a visual presentation of not being able to handle the truth. But for real though, who else wants Andrew to stick around? In other news, Lawrence has decided to get back right with the lord (thotting, bopping and catching chlamydia definitely had a profound effect on him), so he drags Chad to church where he meets a sanctified girl. We’ll see where that goes. Issa wants to see Nathan so bad that she drags Molly to Andrew and Nathan’s house (yup, they’re roommates) despite the fact that Molly has canceled Andrew. They make up some dumb excuse to bring him dessert…in Burbank, which according to Issa, “Isn’t even LA.” Andrew isn’t thrilled to see them (and he’s the only one that’s home) but Issa makes up an excuse to go to the bathroom but she really just finds Nathan’s room and goes through his trash! Chiiiiile… Meanwhile, Molly and Andrew have yet another conversation that doesn’t go well because Molly is a jerk and after a while, she decides to find her nutty friend so they can get out of there. Guess where Issa was at this point? On Nathan’s computer trying to figure out his passwords. In short, Issa thought that Nathan represented moving forward and that they were going to live happily ever after but yeah, nah. The episode wraps with Issa and Lawrence crossing paths again (he told her about a workshop that would be helpful for her business). They’re genuinely in the friend zone now and end up chatting about life over coffee and tea. Issa mentions how anxious she is about her block party and Lawrence reveals that he’s really not that into church. Duh! There’s only one episode left for the season. Why is this show so short? Gillum, Tallahassee’s mayor, had support from 50 percent of likely voters, compared to 44 percent who said they planned to vote for his rival. The remaining percentage of voters said they support a different candidate or did not indicate support for any candidate. This is one of the largest leads for Gillum, who would become Florida’s first Black governor if he’s elected. A RealClearPolitics average of polls  shows Gillum with a lead of roughly 4 percentage points. A poll, taken by the Democratic polling firm Public Policy Polling days after Gillum’s amazing come-from-behind primary win, gave him a 5-point lead. DeSantis, a U.S. congressman, came under fire for a racist remark about Gillum, less than 24 hours after winning the GOP nomination. He urged voters not to “ monkey this up ” by voting for the Black candidate. He’s also been in the spotlight over his deep connections to white supremacists . What The Hell??? Man Gets 160 Years In Prison After Molesting And Impregnating 10-Year-Old Girl

Getty Images Man Sentenced To Over 100 Years For Impregnating 10-Year-Old A man in Indiana was found guilty of molesting a 10-year-old girl multiple times, which eventually led to her becoming pregnant. Now, he had been sentenced to more than 100 years in prison. 34-year-old Nicholas Deon Thrash was sentenced to 160 years in jail with a minimum service of 132 years,  FOX59 Indianapolis  reported, citing the Grant County prosecutor. Thrash was found guilty of 10 counts of child molestation during his trial last month, the station reported. The victim was not named, but testified in court that Thrash had molested her at least 15 times. After just over an hour of deliberation, a Grant County jury convicted Nicholas Deon Thrash. The girl’s grandmother told Indiana news station  WISH-TV  back in May 2017, when Thrash was initially charged, that he was someone the whole family knew and trusted. “(The victim) was foremost in our mind during this case,” Grant County Prosecutor Jim Luttrull said. “We appreciate an enormous amount of people … who offered their assistance to the victim, for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) and all the work they provided in the case.” The girl’s mother is also facing charges relating to the case, which include neglect and aiding in child molesting and assisting a criminal, according to reports from Marion-based newspaper the  Chronicle-Tribune . The young girl’s mother reportedly discovered the pregnancy as her daughter was trying on dresses for a school dance, which is when she instructed her to say a classmate impregnated her, not the 34-year-old family friend. Some reports allege that Thrash was the boyfriend of the victim’s mother. The Chronicle-Tribune reports that, in his testimony, Thrash said he did not deny that he was the father of the baby but maintained he never molested the victim. Instead, he claimed that the victim’s mother, his girlfriend Jennifer Lynn Hand, had inseminated the victim using his sperm. Prosecutors told FOX59 that the girl, after having recently turned 11, gave birth to a boy in September 2017. Thrash remained in the Grant County Jail as of Thursday.

Savannah Chrisley and Chase Chrisley: Spinoff Is Really Happening!

It’s only been a couple of years since Savannah Chrisley’s horrifying car crash , but the Chrisley Knows Best star is back on the road. In fact, she and her brother Chase are embarking on a road trip for their spin-off. And apparently that spin-off is moving forward — and may even be almost done with production. From what multiple sources tell Us Weekly , Savannah Chrisley and Chase Chrisley’s spin-off of Chrisley Knows Best is really happening. In fact, the spin-off, which has been rumored since last year, is said to be going “full speed ahead.” Chrisley Knows Best has just concluded its sixth season less than a month ago. A lot of shows — scripted or reality — don’t make it to the 100 episode benchmark, but Chrisley Knows Best has 109 episodes and 2 specials. And now, a spin-off. Chrisley Knows Best was previously filmed in Georgia, near Atlanta. Now, the show films in Nashville, Tennessee. According to reports, that is where Svannah and Chase’s spin-off will begin filming. The premise of the spin-off is to capture the two young adults on their sibling road trip across most of the breadth of the United States. They started off in Nashville but will end up in Los Angeles. In fact, the two have been spotted in L.A., which suggests that at least most of the principal photography is already complete. The show has been rumored for ages, and Todd Chrisley addressed this spinoff a while back. “I’m extremely proud of Chase and Savannah as they continue their journey into adulthood,” the family patriarch announced. “This show will follow them as they live on their own,” Todd continued. And give their parents huge headaches and potential heart attacks.” Todd condluded: “The plot thickens with love.” Todd is famous for his frustrations with his family, including and especially Chase, but clearly he is proud of his young adult children. Todd does admit that he can be controlling of his family’s social media activity, policing it personally. “If they say something that I don’t think is appropriate or that I think is offensive to someone,” Todd says. “I send them a text message with a screenshot and go, ‘Really? Really?” That sounds fine for some things — honestly, a few celebrities out there could use Todd Chrisley sending them similar messages — but perhaps a little intrustive for others. “My thing is,” Todd explains. “Aon’t be trashy about anything.” That sounds fair enough. Todd thinks that sometimes people embarrass themselves by being overly eager with fans on social media. “These guys out here today,” Todd laments. “If a girl likes their photograph, that’s a reason for them to slide into your DM.” For the record, clicking “like” doesn’t always indicate thirst, and indicating thirst isn’t always an invitation. Todd then cracks a joke about what some would describe as c–kblocking his kids. “You’re not sliding into anything over here,” Todd says.
