This Robot Watches Your Pet When You’re Away

The only thing worse than waking up in the morning and heading to work at an ungodly hour is leaving your pet at home. No matter how many times you do it, it’s always hard and guilt-inducing, especially when their face turns droopy and they hit you with those puppy-dog (or kitty) eyes. It’s not like you can quit your job just to be with them the whole day. You still need to work to be able to provide them all the treats they want in the world. While you can’t exactly clone yourself to keep them company, the least you could do is have something like the PetBot with them when you’re gone. Synonymous to hiring a pet sitter (albeit a robotic one), this robot allows you to interact with your pet when you’re away. With the app, you can launch a treat, take a photo or video, play some laser toy fun, and even communicate with them wherever you may be. It has a built-in HD camera and two-way audio, allowing you to see, hear, and talk to your furry pal whenever you wish. It even has highly-durable wheels so you can drive and control the PetBot from the app. With the PetBot, your pet will never feel alone again. Grab it on sale for $194.99 — 22 percent off the usual $249.99.   Petbot App-Controlled Robot – $194.99 See Deal Prices are subject to change. Andrew Glennon: Of COURSE I Didn’t Manipulate Amber Portwood!

For the past decade, we've watched Amber Portwood on MTV. Honestly, she really hasn't changed that much. She said ridiculously awful things to the people in her life then, and we've heard her do the same now — if anything, she's gotten worse. But somehow, someway, there are several Teen Mom fans who feel the need to defend Amber in the wake of her domestic violence arrest. And Andrew Glennon is not having it. 1. The Arrest Before July 5th, a lot of people thought that Amber’s relationship with Andrew was going OK. But then she got arrested for chasing him with a machete, and then people didn’t think that anymore. 2. So Crazy You’ve probably heard this story a billion times right now, but just in case you haven’t here we go — according to Andrew, Amber got upset because road work prevented them from getting to a fireworks display the evening before, and she went on a rampage for hours and hours. 3. Wow She beat him with a shoe — she admitted to that part, and police have photos of the bruises and scratches on his neck — and threatened to kill herself. She even allegedly took a handful of pills, but threw them back up when Andrew threatened to call 911. 4. Amber, No But things got even worse later, when she got so angry that she grabbed a machete she kept by her bed (we later learned that the machete is just one of the many, many weapons she keeps in her bedroom) and chased Andrew, who was holding baby James, into another room. Andrew held the door closed with his foot while he texted 911 to let them know that he felt his life and his son’s life were in danger. 5. Thank Goodness Amber was arrested and ultimately charged with three felonies — two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon. 6. Yay, Andrew Andrew also filed for custody of James. As of now, he’s got it, with Amber only having supervised visitation occasionally. View Slideshow

Jonathan Van Ness, Queer Eye Star, Reveals HIV Diagnosis

Jonathan Van Ness, one of the stars of Queer Eye on Netflix, has made a pair of startling revelations. Ahead of the release of his memoir, “Over the Top, which hits shelves September 24, Van Ness just opened up to The New York Times about his health and history of addiction. “I’ve had nightmares every night for the past three months because I’m scared to be this vulnerable with people,” the fashion and beauty guru told the publication, adding: “There are issues that need to be talked about.” In the aforementioned upcoming biographies, one of the revelations Van Ness shares is that he tested positive for HIV when he was 25, after fainting while working on a client’s hair. “That day was just as devastating as you would think it would be,” he writes in the book, according to the newspaper. Van Ness went on to say he thinks of himself a proud “member of the beautiful HIV-positive community” and hopes that his transparency surrounding the subject will shut down typical misconceptions. “When Queer Eye came out, it was really difficult because I was like, ‘Do I want to talk about my status?’” he told the newspaper, noting that the political climate swayed his decision. “I do feel the need to talk about this,” he added. This is not all the star confesses, however. He also opens up in his memoir about having been abused by an older boy at a young age, which “planted the seed for other self-destructive behaviors,” according to the this same newspaper feature. “For a lot of people who are survivors of sexual assault at a young age, we have a lot of compounded trauma,” he explained to the newspaper. As a young teenager, Van Ness recalled how he would meet up with older men and that, after using up his money on drugs in college, he “advertised sex for money on Gay.com.” By the time he was in his early 20s, Van Ness was using methamphetamine and ended up going to rehab twice, the publication writes. Thankfully, however, Van Ness says he has not used drugs of any sort in years. Queer Eye is a spinoff of Bravo’s Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. It premiered in February of 2018 and has since amassed a very large following. “These are all difficult subjects to talk about on a makeover show about hair and makeup,” Van Ness adds. “That doesn’t mean Queer Eye is less valid, but I want people to realize you’re never too broken to be fixed.” Elsewhere in this interview, Van Ness addresses the pressure to live out his Queer Eye persona when meeting fans in real life. “If you’re having a terrible moment or in the middle of a conversation about something serious, people don’t care,” he explained. “They want their bubbly J.V.N. and to get that major selfie.” However, he concluded on a positive note: “I want people to realize you’re never too broken to be fixed.”

Yikes: Everyone Involved In The Kevin Hart Car Crash Is Lawyering Up For Imminent Lawsuit

Source: Newspix / Getty Kevin Hart And His Passengers Are All Getting Lawyered Up It looks like Kevin Hart and the two people in his car that crashed on September 1 have all gotten themselves lawyers as everyone involved is expecting a big lawsuit. According to reports from TMZ , sources with direct knowledge say the driver–who sustained serious back and chest injuries–has an attorney, as does the passenger in the backseat, who sustained only a few minor injuries. Kevin Hart, of course, has a lawyer as well. Kevin is expected to be in the crosshairs of the other two people inside the 1970 Plymouth Barracuda at the time of the crash because the car was not equipped with any sort of safety harnesses or airbags. The argument here is that Hart should have worried less about keeping the car authentic and more about the actual safety of the vehicle, and not doing so constitutes negligence, on his part. The once driving the car could also be on the hook for both Kev and the backseat passenger, but that presumption is a little premature since the CHP is still investigating the cause of the crash. TMZ also reports that the company that customized the car for Kevin could also be looking at a lawsuit, for those same issues mentioned about safety above. The company is supposed to be the expert on cars, and even if Kevin wanted a custom job without safety harnesses, they should have refused anything that wasn’t safe for those involved, especially with a 720 horsepower engine. Law enforcement sources told the publication that CHP may lobby the California State Legislature to prohibit custom car companies from rolling out products without harnesses, regardless of whether the customer wants them or not.

Hidden Documents Reveal University of Texas Created Blueprint For Slowing Integration

Source: dszc / Getty It has been more than sixty years since the American public schools became integrated, but hidden documents reveal that the University of Texas played an instrumental role in creating a blueprint to slow down the monumental progress. According to The Atlantic , hidden records in the university’s archive reveals the great length that Administrators went through to block the admittance of African Americans to the institution. In the documents, it’s revealed that the concept of standardized testing was introduced by UT as a means to block Black applicants after the proposal of utilizing a “gap year” or pushing for the attendance at neighboring HBCUs Prairie View A&M or Texas Southern University . “If we want to exclude as many Negro undergraduates as possible,” UT’s then Admission Counselor wrote, “The University would be in a position to plead that it is acting in good faith to bring an end to segregation, and it should have some bearing with the courts in an attempt to postpone the admission of Negro students at the undergraduate level.” The documents also show that a special committee was created to actively think of ways to keep African American students from being admitted while appearing to comply with federal law, their resolution-standardized testing. According to records, the committee noted that if the 2,700-person freshman class was admitted according to state population proportions, 300 would be black; before highlighting that white UT freshmen had significantly higher aptitude-test scores than incoming freshmen at three Texas black colleges. A standardized-test cutoff “point of 72 would eliminate about 10% of UT freshmen and about 74% of Negroes,” the committee stated in a footnote. “Assuming the distributions are representative, this cutting point would tend to result in a maximum of 70 Negroes in a class of 2,700.” “The historical record makes it clear that racism was a primary motivation in UT’s decision in the 1950s to begin testing applicants for admission,” Gary Susswein, a UT Austin spokesman told the publication. “Other explanations were given at the time, as standardized testing took root nationally and many universities moved away from open admissions to become more selective. But the ugly desire to keep out African American students was a major driver of that policy.” Although the University of Texas has worked hard to overcome their racist past, the remnants of that racism continues to live on. Many people of color have argued for years regarding the racist intent behind standardized testing. In 2015 ,  Washington State Senator Patty Murray stood on the Senate floor and called standardized testing a civil-rights issue. “We know that if we don’t have ways to measure students’ progress,” Murray said. “If we don’t hold our states accountable, the victims will invariably be the kids from poor neighborhoods, children of color, and students with disabilities.” Educators point out that the current tests used to measure student progress holds schools and teachers accountable but doesn’t measure actually learning and retention well at all. While the practice of testing has continued, many schools are moving to other ways to admit students without it. Today, at least three-fourths of UT’s freshmen from Texas continue to gain admission through the use of standardized testing, while other applicants receive what the university calls a “holistic review”  that takes race and ethnicity into account along with grades, essays, leadership qualities, and numerous other factors, including standardized test scores.

Demi Moore: Ashton Kutched Forced Me to Have Threesomes, Pushed Me Back Into Alcoholism

Remember that very brief period of time when Ashton Kutcher was an in-demand A-lister? Yeah, it turns out society was right to leave his trucker hat-wearing ass in the early 2000s trash heap alongside Avatar and Dick Cheney. Ashton married Demi Moore back in 2005, and there was a time when it looked like the couple might really make it work despite his relative youth. (Kutcher was just 27 when they got hitched; Moore, 43.) The actors remained married for 8 years, which was considerably longer than the celebrity prognosticators of the time predicted. Of course, we now know that Kutcher was cheating, partying, and generally acting like the kind of douche who owns a ton of ironic trucker hats throughout their time together. Moore has a new memoir coming out next week, and the excerpts that have been released thus far are not exactly flattering to the Kutch. For starters, Demi confirms that Kutcher cheated during their marriage, but arguably worse is the fact that he engaged in a weird gaslighting campaign in order to make her feel like it was her fault.  The trouble began, Moore writes, when she agreed to engage in a threesome with her then-husband. “I wanted to show him how great and fun I could be,” she says, adding that she now feels their two trysts with a third partner were “mistakes.” Moore reveals in the book that when Ashton was caught sleeping with Sara Leal  at Danny Masterson’s bachelor party (“I felt sick to my stomach,” Demi says of Leal’s confession. “I knew she wasn’t lying.”) the Punk’d host claimed he thought she wouldn’t have a problem with it, seeing as their marriage was no longer monogamous. “Because we had brought a third party into our relationship, Ashton said, that blurred the lines and, to some extent, justified what he’d done,” Moore writes. Elsewhere in the book, Moore says that her relapse after 20 years of sobriety was at partially due to Kutcher’s dismissive attitude toward her alcoholism. “I don’t know if alcoholism is a real thing — I think it’s all about moderation,” Kutcher reportedly said while sipping wine at dinner one night. “I didn’t think, ‘This is a kid in his twenties who has no idea what he’s talking about,’” she wrote. “Instead, I cast about for justifications for his argument.” That same night, Moore says, she had her first drink in more than two decades. During her split from Kutcher, Moore says her drinking quickly spiraled out of control. “Drinking became interwoven in my pain,” she writes. Based on what we now know about him, it’s no surprise that Kutcher was of little help in her recovery. In fact, it seems he made matters worse, shaming Moore by snapping embarrassing pics when she passed out intoxicated during a party. “It seemed like a good-natured joke at the time, but it was really just shaming.”,” the actress recalls. “It was also confusing: Ashton had encouraged me to go in this direction.” These days, Kutcher is married to Mila Kunis , and together, they’re working to help the That ’70s Show cast supplant Glee for the title of “most effed up group of teen actors from an early-2000s Fox show.” View Slideshow: 25 Couples With HUGE Age Differences

Howie Mandel on Meghan Markle: She’s a Scheming Social Climber!

It’s possible that no royal in modern history has inspired such a sharp division in public opinion as Meghan Markle. (Although we guess that depends on how you define “modern history.” Edward VIII received a mixed reaction from the peasantry when he abdicated the throne to marry Wallis Simpson — but you didn’t come to The Hollywood Gossip for a freakin’ history lesson!) The point is, Meghan has millions of devoted fans — but an almost equal number of rabid haters. The main issue is that Meghan is black , and racism is alive and well in both the US and the UK. But adding to her image problem is the smear campaign spearheaded by Meghan’s wicked half-sister, Samantha Markle . It’s impossible to say if Samantha is motivated by bigotry or just plain old jealousy, but she’s fully evil, so it’s entirely possible that both forces factor in.  Sam’s main argument is that Meghan is a hyper-ambitious social climber — as though it’s possible to marry into the world’s most famous family without possessing those traits. Sadly, the worst people in the world recognize a kindred spirit in Samantha, which is why they’ve taken her batsh-t words to heart. We can’t stress enough that most of the Meg hate is just thinly-veiled racism, but it often takes the guise of concern about her background. After all, she’s not only an American (” too American !” some have nonsensically argued), but an actress as well. Just like that evil Wallis Simpson! Surely, the Meg-hating nutjobs argue, she’s not actually in love with the handsome prince that she married, but is instead using him so that she can … live a fishbowl existence in which her every move is scrutinized beyond belief? Yeah, that’s kinda where the argument falls apart. Anyway, before she landed the role of Rachel Zane on Suits , Meghan was “briefcase girl” on the popular game show Deal Or No Deal . And these days, even the show’s former host, Howie Mandel, is commenting on the insane allegations about her motives for marrying Harry. Fortunately, Mandel recognizes the insanity of the situation: “No, I don’t think she’ll ever [return to acting],” Howie told Us Weekly when the tabloid caught up with him at the America’s Got Talent finale taping this week. “Well, she’ll be seen on television, because she’s a duchess.”  “But that was her plan,” Mandel jokingly continued. “I used to say to her, ‘Meghan, open the case.’ And she used to say, ‘Not now, I’m doing some work on becoming a duchess.’ It was the master plan, so I don’t think she’ll come back for us.” The dude couldn’t be any more obviously joking — but don’t be surprised if Sammy and her cretinous followers run with that quote. Pretty much everyone who worked with Meghan in her Hollywood days has nothing but good things to say about the Duchess of Sussex, including Suits producer Aaron Korsh, who gushed about Archie’s mum in a recent interview: “Meghan is who she is. She’s a grown woman. She’s not in her 20s. I think she’s a fully formed woman,” Korsh said when asked about Meg’s ability to cope with the pressures of royal life “I’m sure that being in that position I’m sure would have some long-term changes but she’s the same. “I’m going to guess that she’s pretty much the same person she always was and adapting very nicely to the challenges … If you can handle yourself in Hollywood, you can handle yourself.” We couldn’t have said it better ourselves. Aaron Carter Accuses Late Sister Leslie Carter of Sexual Abuse

Earlier this week came the very upsetting news that  Nick Carter took out a restraining order against Aaron Carter . It’s brother against brother, Nick accuses Aaron of threatening his pregnant wife. Aaron accuses NIck of gaslighting and abuse. Now, Aaron has accused his late sister, Leslie Carter, of sexually abusing him when he was just a child. Content warning for some very upsetting content including childhood sexual abuse, folks. “My sister Leslie suffered from bipolar and took lithium to treat it,” Aaron announced in a tweet on Thursday. Leslie passed away in 2012 after a drug overdose. She was Aaron’s older sister by one eyar. “She never liked the way it made her feel,” the troubled singer wrote of his late sister. “And when she was off of it she did things that she never meant to do,” Aaron accused. “I truly believe that,” he affirmed. “I was 10 years old.” If you had a sinking feeling in the core of your being from reading what Aaron already wrote … your suspicions are confirmed by his next tweet. “My sister raped me from the age of 10 to 13 years old when she wasn’t on her medications,” Aaron alleged on Twitter. “And I was absused not only sexually by her,” he continued. “But by my first two back up dancers when I was 8 years old.” “And,” Aaron added. “My brother absused me my whole life.” Aaron has spoken of Nick allegedly being violent towards him before, and even shown video evidence. This is all very distressing. “Now it’s nicks turn to tell the tell the truth,” Aaron challenged his estranged older brother. He demands that Nick speak “of what he did to one of the girls in my family.” Aaron doesn’t spell out what he means by that accusation, but the implications are alarming and disturbing. “Since my truth is all out there,” Aaron continued. “And,” he added. “I hope all survivors of assault or rape find peace and justice.” Aaron may be speaking openly of this on Twitter, but he has made it very clear that he wants to advocate for abuse survivors. In particular, he has shown a lot of support and sympathy for several women who have accused Nick of sexual and physical abuse. “Hi @wendywilliams,” Aaron tweeted with a request. “When you do your hot topic segment,” he asked. “Please recognize the 3 girls in Three states who filed police reports against my brother.” “There are three police reports in three states,” Aaron noted in another tweet. “Sad but true. Talk to the [women] who filed the reports.” Some have accused Aaron of deep hypocrisy, since it was only earlier this year that Aaron threatened a Michael Jackson accuser . When a follower brought that up, Aaron replied: “I apologized to them.” He has certainly shown more acceptance of the idea that the man who treated him so well during his teens may have behaved differently towards others. But that is not the only challenge to Aaron’s credibility. His history of erratic statements and behavior due to mental illness may work against him in any accusations that he makes, against Nick or against Leslie. Aaron has even had multiple welfare checks by police, including some because friends and loved ones feared he migh ttake his life. However, it is important to recognize that a person can have any number of mental illnesses and still speak the truth. In fact, some worry that these will be turned against Aaron in order to unfairly discredit him. Our thoughts go out to all survivors of abuse of any kind as these difficult subjects surface in the news. View Slideshow: 27 Celebrities Who Suffer From Mental Illness

Adwoa Aboah Gets Real About Her Acne Struggles

Source: Samir Hussein / Getty While it’s easy to think that models having access to the best estheticians doesn’t leave any room for skincare issues, Adwoa Aboah proves that it’s not the case. We love when celebs use their platform to foster change and uplift the community and the model is doing just that! As the founder of Gurls Talk , an online community that welcomes women of various ages to openly discuss topics ranging from mental health to body image, the month of September focuses on skin and body. In honor of the program, Adwoa got candid with her fans about her struggles with acne by posting a series of selfies. The selfies reflect a year-long project that documented her ups and downs with acne. From dark spots to blemishes and everything in between Adwoa is holding nothing back. View this post on Instagram In honor of our monthly theme of ‘Skin and Body’, I will be posting from a personal project that I have been creating for the last 2/3 years. Only ever meant for my eyes in order to obsessively scrutinize over my up and down battle with my skin. Some days it was acne, some days it wasn’t too bad, then mass breakouts followed by clear as day skin. It was exhausting never knowing what your skin was going to look like from one day to another, it was even more exhausting caring so much, about what work thought or if people noticed. Constantly apologizing whilst sat in front of a mirror for something that was out of my control, obsessing over my skin to a point that was very unhealthy at the best of times. This month as much as I can I will be posting those photos, not because my skin is the worst you’ve ever seen but because it feels time to let that shit go, time to join force with a community who bare their pimples for the world to see. A post shared by Adwoa Aboah (@adwoaaboah) on Sep 10, 2019 at 2:00am PDT There is no denying that sharing untouched images of ourselves, flaws and all can be an uncomfortable experience, it’s also empowering. Acne is one of the most common skin conditions that affects so many people from various ages. Like Adwoa, we believe that it’s important to show the world that you should be comfortable in your own skin no matter what. And her fans agree! One fan in particular commended her vulnerability saying, “I can’t tell you how refreshing it is to have someone speak out honestly and open heartedly about adult acne and the struggles that go with it, the fan shares. ” I suffered for so many years and even at the ripe age of 40, it still lingers and troubles me. I have the scars to prove it. I feel every pain babes. Thank you for baring all to us and advocating positivity in a real way.” While we can all agree that dealing with the ups and downs of acne can be a trying process, it feel amazing to know that we are not alone. Acne doesn’t define our beauty or who we are as people. And we are so proud of Adwoa for creating the conversation. How have you struggled with acne? Let us know down in the comments below!
