For weeks now, we’ve been hearing rumors that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are secretly engaged . According to those who believe the reports, there’s good reason for the couple’s secrecy. Royal engagements can be messy affairs that require the approval of numerous parties. Sources say Meghan met the Queen last week, and many believe Harry asked for his grandmother’s blessing to marry Markle. It was initially reported that several Royals weren’t crazy about the idea of a Harry-Meghan marriage. They had nothing against Meghan personally, the insiders claimed, they were just a bit put off by the PR nightmares that might stem from Harry marrying an American actress. And now, it looks as though the concerned parties might be seeing their worst-case scenario come true. For obvious reason, there’s intense interest in Meghan’s personal life on both sides of the pond. This has resulted in numerous ridiculous tabloid rumors, such as the one that had Meghan cheating on Harry . Americans who weren’t previously Royal watchers have taken a greater interest in Meghan than in Harry’s previous girlfriends, not only because it really looks as though the couple is actually headed for the altar, but also because she’s the star of a long-running American television series. (That airs on the USA network, no less!) Now, Meghan’s the other stars of Suits are beginning to experience the complications that can arise from having a future Royal as a co-worker. Life & Style is reporting today that actor Patrick J. Adams was forced to delete his entire Instagram account after posting a photo of Meghan. Sources say Adams posted a photo of himself and Markle on set, with a caption reading: “Ross and Rachel — the next generation.” Yes, that was all it took for fans to start commenting about the possibility of Meghan cheating on Harry with Adams, or of Adams and Markle hooking up in the past. Marrying a prince might be a pretty common fantasy, but it looks like Meghan is already experiencing the downside, and she and Harry aren’t even officially engaged yet. Perhaps that’s why she’s avoiding the press at all cost these days. “I don’t read any press,” Meghan said in a recent interview. “I haven’t even read press for Suits. The people who are close to me anchor me in knowing who I am. The rest is noise.” That’s probably a wise move. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: 16 Things to Know About Prince Harry’s New Squeeze
The Teen Mom franchise has produced a lot of entertainment. It’s also churned out some reality stars who aren’t such great people. Chelsea Houska is one of the exceptions, though. She loves her children and just generally doesn’t come across as vapid or that much of a hot mess. So … color us surprised that Chelsea Houska’s in trouble. Like, legal trouble. Don’t worry — despite what Teen Mom ‘s editors might show you, Chelsea Houska doesn’t neglect her daughter in favor for her baby. In fact, the alleged violation for which she’s been singled out has nothing to do with being a mom at all. Not directly, anyway. Chelsea Houska was one of 21 recipients of sternly worded letters (anything from the government is stern; it’s hard to “smile” in legalese). From the FTC. And it all has to do with Instagram ads. You know, when a celebrity poses with some kind of weight loss tea or talks about how much they love their new, like, makeup kit while showing the kit and saying the name of the brand? The kind of thing that we’ve seen from a bazillion celebs. It’s what got a bunch of haters to slam Amy Roloff the other day. This isn’t about income disclosure. That would be a letter from the IRS and, frankly, probably a lot scarier. But the Federal Trade Commission has had it up to here with celebrities who don’t “properly disclose” their ads. The FTC argues that merely tagging a brand counts as an endorsement. They’re real sticklers about their rules. Just like how pharmaceutical commercials (here in the US, pretty much the only place on the planet where you’re allowed to advertise prescription drugs) have to list all of the many ways that their drug might somehow harm or kill you … Just like how commercials have to list that the people speaking are paid actors (even if it’s in the fine print that nobody reads) … … Instagram ads are supposed to be tagged plainly. With “#ad.” And apparently a number of stars, including Chelsea Houska and Farrah Abraham, haven’t exactly been doing that. We’d question whether anyone old enough to use Instagram is naive enough to think that those transparent advertisements are just celebrities casually plugging products for fun. Like, if someone talks about liking their favorite soda, maybe they just do that. But an Instagram post about it, mentioning the brand and holding up the label for the photo? You’d think that you’d have to be a fool to not realize that, at the very least, that star has gotten some free stuff out of the deal. In most cases, they’re monetizing it. On the other hand … the world is full of fools and they deserve honesty, too. Instagram ads can be a huge source of money, from a regular Instagram model to Kylie Jenner. Whether it’s a fitness model showing off the protein powder that they almost definitely don’t use to a reality star showing off a corset that almost definitely didn’t make her lose weight, Instagram ads are a huge business. We can understand why the FTC feels the need to clamp down … even if “#ad” looks so tacky in people’s captions. We wonder if maybe the FTC needs to reconsider some of its rulings, though. Sure, it’s a big business — some public personalities pull down six figures a year on Instagram ads alone. (Others are said to pull down six figures per post … mostly just Kylie Jenner) But … are there similar rules in place for product placement on television shows and in films? When someone on television drinks a specific name-brand soda or even walks in front of a sign for a fast food place, that’s not a coincidence. Usually, the company paid for that to happen. “Ad” doesn’t show up anywhere on the screen. Some might argue that featuring something in your social media posts is akin to a film’s product placement rather than being more like a commercial. Technology changes all of the time. Sometimes it takes the law a while to catch up.
Here's the mug for Brent Ahlers, the security guard shot by the imaginary suspect. pic.twitter.com/hlfEybSmDT — Lou Raguse (@LouRaguse) September 14, 2017 We’ve all heard the story before of White people lying on Black people just to save themselves from trouble — and every time it happens, it’s more bizarre than the last. This time around, it was a college campus security guard who didn’t want to face the consequences of accidentally shooting himself. After shooting himself in the shoulder on Thursday, Brent P. Ahlers’, and officer at Minnesota college, made up a story about a Black gunman in order to cover up his mistake. According to The Star Tribune , St. Paul police were immediately skeptical of Ahlers’ story that he had been shot by a black gunman in a navy blue sweatshirt with a short Afro. They did not publicly share the description of the supposed shooter. Despite their initial suspicion, the campus of St. Catherine University was still put on lockdown for hours as 55 police officers, four K-9 units and Minnesota State Patrol aircraft searched for the alleged suspect. The 25-year-old White campus cop finally came clean after police came back from their search of the alleged culprit empty-handed. On Wednesday, Ahlers told police that he made up the story because he was afraid of losing his job, where firearms are not permitted and not issued to security personnel. After being treated for a shoulder wound, the campus guard was booked into the Ramsey County jail and cited for falsely reporting a crime. He was released on his own recognizance at 4:30 a.m on Thursday. But the repercussions didn’t end there, St. Catherine University President Becky Roloff posted a statement to the school’s website Thursday evening condemning Ahler’s actions and saying that he had been fired by the university. She wrote, “Brent Ahlers was put on paid leave September 13 while the St. Paul Police conducted their investigation and the University completed a review of the facts. That status has now changed. He is no longer an employee of the University effective today, September 14. Second, I want to be clear that St. Catherine University strongly condemns racial discrimination, racial stereotyping, and racial profiling of any kind. All is well that ends well. Do you think justice was fully served? [ione_media_gallery src=”https://globalgrind.cassiuslife.com” id=”4184534″ overlay=”true”]

Image via Nevada Parole Board pool/Splash O.J. Simpson Release Details Kept Top Secret O.J. Simpson is set to be released from prison sometime soon, but it is unlikely that we will know the date ahead of time. According to TMZ , Nevada prison officials are afraid of the media circus that will take place if news outlets know the date and swarm the facility. Furthermore, they fear a repeat of a the (in)famous chase as thirsty cameramen and helicopter pilots attempt to get a “first look” at a free Orenthal. Sources within the prison say the media has a 1 in 18 chance to even capture an image of O.J.’s release because there are 18 different doors that he could walk out of on the day he’s released. O.J. allegedly told prison officials that he doesn’t want to be seen on camera when he gets out, but that may be so that he can command more money when it’s time for his first interview. The prison wants it to be clear that THEY are the ones calling the shots as far as secrecy is concerned, NOT O.J. If O.J. leaves prison in a white Bronco , people are gonna lose it!
