R. Kelly is accused of running a cult in which he keeps women captive in his Chicago and Atlanta homes, forcing them to provide him with sexual favors and controlling every aspect of their lives. So stated a bombshell report by Buzzfeed last week, which quoted parents of these women that were understandably concerned for their daughters’ safety. A lawyer for Kelly has said her client is ” alarmed and disturbed ” by these false allegations, vehemently denying any such cult exists. But here’s the thing: some thing is clearly going on. A woman named Jocelyn Savage has spoken out in defense of Kelly, claiming she is not banned from leaving his home and is simply staying their out of her own volition. She explained in an interview with TMZ this week that her own father even dropped her off at Kelly’s awhile back in order for the singer to help further Savage’s music career. But Savage refuses to state her actual location. Moreover, a relative of another woman under Kelly’s quasi control tells this same website that Kelly lures his so-called victims in by lavishing them with expensive gifts. Yes, this person claims, the women are free to leave. However, Kelly uses a “calculating, methodical process to groom naive girls” into becoming dependent on him. He also takes their smartphones, this person alleges. Are Kelly’s actions illegal? Maybe not. Do we know for certain what is taking place inside his residences? No. Is Kelly one effed up dude with serious character issues who has been accused on numerous occasions of sexual misconduct, nearly always with women much younger than he is? Yes. Along this latter line, a woman who refers to herself as “Kim” spoke to Jezebel about the entire cult rumor and outlined what goes on in R. Kelly’s shady universe. She says she met Kelly about a year ago and has flown out to spend time with him on about 10 occasions. They’ve carried on a sexual relationship. As a self-described “sometime member of his entourage,” this is what Kim has to say about Kelly’s harem: HOW HE CONTROLS HIS WOMEN: When we’re out, we’re not allowed to look at anyone. We have to keep our heads down. If we’re back in his studio sitting on the couches and he has friends across the room at the bar we can’t look at each other or communicate with each other… If we’re in an Uber and we chat up the driver we’re supposed to tell him this girl did this or that. He’s very controlling and manipulative. He likes to be in control. WHAT CAN THE GIRLS SAY TO EACH OTHER? No compliments are allowed, Kim says. I was looking at [a woman who walked by while out to lunch once] and he kicked my chair because I was looking up. Just super possessive. It’s a strange kind of dynamic. HE MAKES SEXUAL DEMANDS: He never makes threats, but the girls are so eager to do whatever he wants. Ever since Rob Kardashian’s social media tantrum against Blac Chyna in the sort of out-of-control early morning rant that we usually associate with a man much older and more orange, Blac Chyna’s been getting a lot of attention. Surprisingly, she’s been pretty selective about how much she’s spoken to the public, but she does do interviews from time to time. In her new interview, she’s trying to focus Blac Chyna has spoken about this before, first breaking her silence on Good Morning America after her nudes were distributed without her consent. Now Blac Chyna sits down with People and speaks about moving forward from the Rob Kardashian scandal . First, she speaks about moving forward. “I’m not going to take something that happened to me in the past into my future.” Good luck with that. Like, that’s the dream that everybody who’s been through a bad situation has. But it’s not always possible. The specter of this will follow her for a long time, unfortunately. (Though we suspect that she’ll make the best of it) “First and foremost, I’m going to make myself happy because once I’m happy, then Dream can be happy and then King can be happy and then everybody else around me can be happy.” It is good that she’s talking about her kids, King Cairo and Dream, who are both super adorable. Blac Chyna says that she and Rob broke up in late 2016, so they’ve been coparenting for a long time. Amazingly, Blac Chyna still wants to coparent with Rob , as if he would be a good influence on Dream! But some people hold onto the idea that kids need both parents. Blac Chyna also addresses the lingering topic of revenge porn. (As we’ve mentioned, Rob Kardashian could face revenge porn charges — though Blac Chyna may want to work out an out-of-court deal) “Words are words, but once you start posting actual pictures, then that’s just not right. It’s actually against the law.” She’s absolutely right in that revenge porn photos are illegal. But we shouldn’t dismiss words, especially from celebrities over social media. Words have a lot of power, too, and can do a massive amount of harm. She then goes into something that we’ve all talked about before — that the issue here isn’t nudity, but a lack of consent. “If I [were] to go and do a very artsy, high-end photo shoot exposing my breasts, that’s my choice. This is my body. It’s my right.” She’s absolutely right. Revenge porn would be still be illegal even if she were a porn star, folks. Just like how deciding to spend or donate money doesn’t make it okay for someone to steal from you. It’s not complicated. “Once somebody else does it, it’s just not right. I’m hoping that somehow, some way, this will let [more people] know, ‘Don’t do it.’” True — it’s pretty clear that Rob Kardashian wasn’t thinking when he went on his social media tirade. Just like he wasn’t thinking when he tried to slam Kris Jenner with a transphobic tweet about Caitlyn Jenner. (Rob Kardashian is so gross, you guys) Maybe putting a spotlight on this bad situation will make some other people think before they upload, you know? Blac Chyna talks about why she’s come forward to discuss her experience. (You know, aside from the obvious “well everybody keeps asking” thing) “I just want to voice my story — voice what’s real — because at the end of the day, the person next to me could possibly be going through the same thing.” That’s the weirdest thing about stories of victimization. When one person talks about revenge porn or sexual assault or abuse, you never know who else in the room may have gone through the same thing. “For people to actually look up to me really means a lot. These types of things, they happen every day.” She’s right about how often it happens. Remember, there was that whole revenge porn epidemic that the FBI itself struggled to combat. It wasn’t until 2013 that new laws were written to address the specific, vile phenomenon. Because for everyday men to distribute an ex’s photo to so many people.just wasn’t possible before the existence of the internet. “A lot of women, they don’t address it.” That’s true — some try to move on without ever calling out the person who wronged them. But she has some advice for people who go through the non-celebrity version of her experience. “See it, recognize it — but don’t be tainted by it. Just be strong and positive.” That’s bland advice … but it’s also good advice. If we listen to what Pilot Jones has said about Blac Chyna , we might assume that Blac Chyna is just playing the media for sympathy. Kevin Hart is in literally every movie these days, and with great fame comes great tabloid scrutiny. So it was only a matter of time before Hart became embroiled in some sort of scandal. It’s to be expected … but we didn’t think Hart’s first major tabloid controversy would be this dumb. Hart married Eniko Parrish last year, and she’s currently pregnant with the couple’s first child. (Hart has two kids from his first marriage.) Hart allegedly cheated on his first wife, Torrei Hart , with Parish, so certain members of the press has been eager to catch him an act of infidelity for the quite some time. And yesterday, it briefly looked as though their time had come. Video of Hart sitting in a car with a young woman at 5 am emerged online yesterday, and at first, it looked mighty incriminating. Then, slowly, the truth began to emerge. Those who watched the video closely noted that Kevin appears to be sitting in the passenger seat, and the unidentified woman is in the back. What’s more, there’s a third person in the car, seated in the passenger seat. Hart talks to both parties, and at no point does he engage in any physical contact with the woman. Unfortunately, the story went viral with astounding speed. Hart was even a worldwide trending topic on Twitter last night. Today, he took to Instagram to set the record straight: He captioned the photo: “#LiveLoveLaugh ….. SMDH” For her part, Parrish hasn’t directly addressed the rumors, but she did post a pregnant selfie yesterday that seemed to be her way of brushing off the rumors. “Well H E L L O #WCW Much hasn’t really changed. I’m still in the gym 3-5 days a week and I feel GREAT! The BBB’s got a little bigger…Boobs,Butt,& Belly of course but I’ll take it! Thanks little guy!” Eniko wrote.
