In a star-studded celebration of life, the beloved actor and comedian was honored by family, friends, and peers on Tuesday (November 5). Entertainment Tonight reports that the service for Witherspoon was held in Los Angeles as was attended by the likes of Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Cedric The Entertainer, and opened by his longtime friend and godfather to his son, former late-night host David Letterman. Ice Cube was among a long list of speakers who gathered to honor Witherspoon at the event. Regina King couldn’t make the event due to scheduling but left a video message for Witherspoon. Marlon Wayans was also unable to attend due to work conflicts but left a moving message on Instagram that illustrated the love shared between them. The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder was also in attendance, fitting as Witherspoon voiced Granddad on the television series. “Laughter is the medicine for our mind, body and soul,” Ice Cube said. “It helps us get through this crazy world, and God bless the ones that make us laugh. He was placed on administrative leave school officials revealed. A student who goes by the handle @karington_kk filmed the racist spectacle and shared it on her Twitter account on Friday (Nov.1). In the 23-second clip, the teacher can be seen pretending to Common mocking the rappers Microsoft AI commercial in front of the class. She received the clip from her friend, whose mother also works as a teacher in Milpitas Unified School District. As for her reasoning for sharing the troubling video, @karington_kk told the internet publication: “We decided to post this to bring this to the eye of the public,” the user said. “He genuinely thought it was okay to come to school like this.” In a statement to BuzzFeed News , school officials revealed Tuesday(Nov.5) he has been placed on leave. “The employee has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation,” said Scott Forstner, the communications specialist of Milpitas Unified School District in Milpitas, north of San Jose.” The teacher’s name has not been revealed due to the school instructing BuzzFeed News not to share it because the situation was “a confidential personnel matter.” The principal of the school, Francis Rojas and Superintendent Cheryl Jordan, sent out a memo to parents and faculty about the incident on Sunday. “Blackface paint has a historical and present-day connotation of racism that demeans those of African ancestry,” the memo reads, with a link to a History.com page about the racist origins of blackface . “The act was disparaging to our students, parents, colleagues, and the Milpitas community we serve.” “We strive to embed our instruction with cultural and historical content so that our students see themselves in what they learn, and can be proud of who they are,” said Jordan and Rojas. “We are committed to building an inclusive learning community for our students together with you.” The costume would have been great without the blackface. The baller is now adding safe housing to the school he founded in his hometown, so that students have a stable place to live while they get their education. The Ohio native announced on Monday that a historic apartment building in Akron is being renovated and turned into transitional housing for families in need at his ‘I Promise’ School. https://twitter.com/KingJames/status/1191387812404322304?s=20 “Initially, our work was focused on helping these kids earn an education. But we’ve found that it is impossible to help them learn if they are struggling to survive — if they are hungry, if they have no heat in the freezing winter, if they live in fear for their safety,” James said in a statement. “We want this place to be their home where they feel safe, supported, and loved, knowing we are right there with them every step of the way as they get back on their feet.” James and his foundation opened the school for at-risk third and fourth graders in 2018 and plans to expand to first through eighth grade by the year 2022. LeBron has promised free tuition to the University of Akron when the students graduate. The foundation is currently working on the project with Graduate Hotels, which operates boutique hotels in college towns around the United States. Graduate is going to renovate the historic Westmont apartment building, located approximately five blocks from the school in Akron’s Highland Square neighborhood to donate the apartments to the school. “The I Promise Village by Graduate Hotels will be a monumental next step for us and LeBron and his Foundation’s commitment to the future of the students and their families,” said Graduate Hotels founder and CEO Ben Weprin in a statement. “It’s humbling to see the change they are affecting on a daily basis and we’re honored to be a part of the journey.” The building currently has 22 units and the foundation said renovations will start immediately, since it’s scheduled to be operational in July when the next school year begins.

My response is always the same: Wash your brushes as frequently as you wash your pillow cases . However, how to wash them however, wasn’t always an easy reply. In the beginning, I remember attempting to wash my brushes with the same bar of soap that I used to wash my body. For me, it’s Dove ($6.19, target.com ). Since the product worked so well on my skin and kept me clean, surely it would break down the build-up on my brushes. Right? I tried this a couple times and found myself in the bathroom for far too long. Rinse after rinse it took too many tries to get my dingy brushes like new again. After a couple of tries, I realized that I was just going to have to use something stronger. The next best thing would be dish soap. That worked like a charm and got my dirty white brushes white again, but then I noticed them slowly loosing bristles over time. It was obvious to me that the dish soap was drying out the hair of my brushes. I’d spent a lot of money on those suckers and needed them to hold up! Not to mention, my Beauty Blender sponges ($20.00, macys.com ) that were $20 a pop STILL wouldn’t get cleaned by anything other than the official soap that the company makes. Those bars of soap ($16.00, ulta.com ) cleaned my brushes and blenders marvelously but they were not affordable, especially for how fast I was moving through the product. Thus, I like many other girls just gave up washing my brushes as often as I should. Oh come on! Don’t act like you haven’t gone a month or longer without washing your brushes! It’s easy to do when you realize how time consuming it can be and how costly it is to purchase soaps that are meant to wash the hairs of your brushes. Once I became a working makeup artist I gathered up a collection of brushes meant only for clients and realized that I’d have to come up with a solution for cleaning my brushes. I’d be using them on multiple faces and needed them to be clean for each use for sanitary purposes. After some trial and error I narrowed it down to baby shampoo ($4.99, target.com ) for my brushes and the official Beauty Blender bar of soap ($16.00, ulta.com ) for my Beauty Blender ($20.00, macys.com ). The baby soap was strong enough to get my brushes clean but not too strong that it would dry them out. Still, it took a few washings before I could get them to be REALLY clean. One day I was traveling with a client. I had been working with this particular celebrity for some time and I was in and out of hotels with her. I realized after a long day on set that I’d run out of my bar of soap to wash my Beauty Blenders. It was late and Sephora wasn’t open so I used my only option…the bar of soap provided by the hotel. Within seconds of working up a good lather I realized that this bar of soap was cleaning the hell outta that sponge better than the official bar of soap! I grabbed a white bristled brush and tried using the soap on it. In seconds the brush was back to white! SECONDS! With my baby shampoo it took a few washings! The next morning I approached a maintenance worker and asked for more soap for my room. She gave me one bar. “Do you think you could spare any more of them?”. By the end of my stay I’d racked up at least 10 bars. It wasn’t long before I realized that it wasn’t just that hotel’s soap that cleaned my brushes and sponges. It was ALL hotel soap. So why would hotel soap work but not my Dove soap?! Simply put, because its cheap. Cheap soap cleans brushes and sponges best. I put this theory to the test by going to the drug store and purchasing the least expensive bar of soap they offered: Dial soap at .99 cents a bar. Now, all of these years later, that is my go-to product to clean my brushes and my sponges. The best part? Dial soap ($1.99, target.com ) is antibacterial too. WIN WIN! The only down side is that it is somewhat drying. I counteract this conditioning my real hair brushes every now and again. It’s real hair so you can condition it! When F. Scott Fitzgerald famously uttered, “The rich are different from you and me,” Ernest Hemingway quipped, “Yes, they have more money.” Our response would have been equally dismissive, but a bit more peevish — something along the lines of “yeah, no sh-t, Scotty. When they get convicted of federal crimes, they spend less than two weeks behind bars, and they roll up to their cushy community service assignments in six-figure sports cars.” Take a look at the strange case of Felicity Huffman, for example. Back in March, Huffman pled guilty to paying an SAT proctor in order to help her daughter cheat on the exam, thus ensuring the girl a place in the college of her choice. There were rumors that the judge was planning to throw the book at the actress, but in the end, Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in prison . Those who considered the punishment ridiculously lenient were even more incensed when Felicity was released 3 days early, serving just 11 days behind bars. Last week, Huffman was released from jail, and she promptly got all emotional, because that’s what she’s been doing at every stage of this process. And now, the second stage of her sentence begins. In keeping with the “slap on the wrist/white privilege” motif that’s thus far characterized Huffman’s jaunt through our criminal justice system, the actress must pay a $30,000 fine and serve 50 hours of community service. Earlier this week, she was spotted leaving The Teen Project, an organization dedicated to helping at-risk youth. It’s fitting, in a way, as kids from disadvantaged backgrounds are the ones who are less likely to be admitted to college because rich people insist on buying a place in the student body for their already-insanely-privileged kids. Apparently to pour salt in the woods of those who feel this was a grave miscarriage of justice, Huffman was reportedly chauffeured from the facility in her husband’s Porsche. So has she learned anything from any of this? Almost certainly not, but she talked a good game throughout the sentencing process: “I’m sorry to you, judge. I am deeply sorry to the students, parents and colleges impacted by my actions,” the Emmy-winner said in court. “I am sorry to my daughters and my husband. I have betrayed them all. “I think this is the right sentence here,” U.S. District Court Judge Indira Talwani told Huffman at the time of her sentencing. “You can move forward and rebuild your life after this. Without this sentence, I think the community around you would ask why you got away with this.” Yeah, because we’re sure a harsher sentence would’ve made it impossible for the rich, famous actress to rebuild her life. During her pre-sentencing testimony, Huffman recalled the emotional turmoil she’s suffered as a result of her actions. “My mind keeps returning to the 30-minute drive to the testing center. I kept thinking, ‘Turn around,'” Huffman says the worst part of the whole ordeal was when her daughter asked why she didn’t believe in her ability to get into college on her own: “I had no answer,” Huffman said. “I can only say I’m so sorry, Sophia. I was frightened, I was stupid, and I was so wrong. I am deeply ashamed of what I have done. I have done more damage than I could ever imagine. I realize now with my mothering that love and truth go hand in hand. I take full responsibility for my actions.” When an awkward conversation with a teen was the worst part of committing a federal crime, you know the sentence wasn’t harsh enough.
Cuba Gooding Jr. is back in court after another woman has accused the actor of touching her inappropriately. According to published reports, an unnamed individual claims that Gooding touched “intimate parts” at a Manhattan nightclub last year. The latest accusation follows two other incidents of groping against the actor for which he was charged. Charges include “grabbing a woman’s breast” at a bar in New York City and “pinching the buttocks” of a woman at a nightclub. As previously reported , Cuba Gooding Jr. appeared in court last month pleading not guilty to a four-count misdemeanor indictment charging him with inappropriate conduct involving two women. Prosecutors revealed in court that they want to use allegations from another 12 accusers against him to assist with showing his “character” during the trial. “Defendant’s past behavior shows that he routinely approaches women while at bars or nightclubs with whom he has limited or no prior interaction, and touches them inappropriately,” prosecutors argued in court papers obtained by Vulture . “His prior acts demonstrate that his contacts with their intimate parts are intentional, not accidental, and that he is not mistaken about their lack of consent.” The uncharged allegations against Gooding include forcible biting, licking, and kissing on some 12 occasions since 2001. Gooding is not charged in relation to these other 12 accusers, and a judge will decide later whether prosecutors can use their allegations in court. Gooding pleaded not guilty to the third charge of groping. The official charges for the incident are the same as the previous two including, forcible touching and third-degree sexual abuse. A call came in about the fight over the chicken sandwich around 7 p.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they found a man in the parking lot suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to an area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Detectives are working to establish a suspect and a motive. We’re here on scene. The chicken sandwich ad is right in the window.
