The last time she gave us a taste of her cooking, her Patti Pies created a frenzy and sold out across America. Now she is giving us a taste of her soul food. The Philly native has partnered with Walmart again for a frozen food line of her soul food. “Coming soon to a Walmart near you, you’ll have my savory foods,” LaBelle told the crowd at Essence Fest last weekend MSN reports. “There will be foods like macaroni and cheese. It’s greens, it’s brisket, it’s chicken and biscuits, and five more I can’t think of them.” Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news.  ( Terms and conditions ). LaBelle warned fans to eat her rich, savory foods moderately because she has to do the same because of her diabetes. “Health is important, I’m a diabetic,” she told the crowd. “And when I make macaroni and cheese I don’t usually eat it, I taste it, because I am a diabetic for 25 years. Ladies and gentlemen, you have to take care of yourselves and eat healthier. But eat.” LaBelle and Walmart have partnered before when she released her famous sweet potato pie, chocolate, caramel and red velvet cakes, buttermilk pies and cobblers. She announced in April that she teamed up with restaurateur Stratis Morfogen to launch a line of frozen Chinese foods as well. Sign Up For Our Newsletter! Close Thank you for subscribing! Mountain Climbing Caucasity: Bhad Bhabie Thinks People Don’t Like Her Music Because She’s White

See the original post here:

Source: Gary Miller / Getty Bhad Bhabie aka The Cash Me Ousside girl hit a lick, became a rapper and now has the never to think she’s actually talented. The successful struggle rapper thinks “people” don’t like her music because she’s white, basically. The alleged MC born Danielle Bregoli took to Instagram to air her privileged grievances. “Ya’ll will promote half these female rappers that dead ass suck ya’ll only f*ck with most of them cuz they pretty or you like they ‘style,’” she wrote on her IG story. “I promise you these bitches anit [sic] on that but when it comes to me a bitch that can really rap ya’ll don’t wanna f*ck with me cuz how I came up and bc I’m white.” Oh that’s why? Not because she’s a privileged white girl who came to fame for acting a fool on Dr. Phil . Or that there are plenty of talented alternatives to listen to whose entire musical existence wasn’t pieced together by a record label. Nah, it’s solely because she’s white. #SARCACM, in case you’re slow. Also, she’s 16, so there’s that. Regardless, Bhad Bhabie just reportedly inked a $1 million publishing deal . So why is she mad? U.S. State Department Weighs In On A$AP Rocky’s Sweden Ordeal

More here:

Source: David Wolff – Patrick / Getty A$AP Rocky is still awaiting trial in a Swedish prison with several reports stating the conditions were less than satisfactory, and contact with the rapper has been minimal. The U.S. State Department has weighed in on the ordeal of the A$AP Mob star in a new statement. POLITICO reports : A State Department spokesperson said that the department is aware of the case and that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been briefed. Top officials at the department, including Robert O’Brien, the special presidential envoy for hostage affairs, are also closely monitoring the situation and working to make sure the rapper is treated fairly. “There are certainly some facts about the arrest and detention that raise concerns,” the spokesperson said. “We expect all governments, including Sweden, to treat American citizens fairly and with respect. … We hope to see ASAP Rocky and his colleagues back on tour and reunited with friends and family soon.” Swedish prosecutors must decide by Friday whether to charge Rocky, who is being held in solitary confinement, or ask a court to let them hold him longer. Despite video evidence that shows Rocky and his crew did not initiate the altercation, Swedish officials are still struggling with how to approach the case under the legal system. — Photo: Getty

Four Years Without Sandy: What Sandra Bland Taught Us About Life & Death In America

Source: NewsOne Screenshots / NewsOne Now Four years after Sandra Bland  was found dead in her jail cell in Waller County, Texas, America finds itself at a crossroads. In the wake of intense violence nationwide and a President who emboldens this type of violence, we must decide now if we are going to allow systemic violence against marginalized communities to become part of the status quo, or are we going to make a change. In spite of the countless injustices that have transpired since her death, it is impossible not to be haunted by Sandra’s story — not just for the sheer scope of its tragedy, but also for how regular she was. Sandra could have been any one of us. Four years later, racial tensions have only grown progressively worse in America. On this day, it’s important to reflect on the lessons we learned from Sandra, whose light and legacy can never be dimmed. Here is what Sandra has taught us: You Can Control Your Legacy Too often, Black victims of police brutality end up facing a trial in the public eye. Mainstream media often depicts them as somehow deserving of the horrendous treatment they received. But Sandra’s commitment to documenting her life meant that she was empowered to leave her own legacy and tell her own story beyond her death. Her vlog, #SandySpeaks, gave us all the chance to get to know how she lived rather than just how she died. She could not be erased. Furthermore, her family’s activism beyond her death has left a profound impact on today’s civil rights movement . The tragedy they experienced spurned them into action. And those actions are proof of the impact she had on their lives. Respectability Politics Won’t Save Us Black people are often told that what they wear, how they speak, and what they do can somehow save them from racism. It is one of the great myths of modern society. It’s hard to think of a more “respectable” person than Sandra. She was an educated, accomplished, beautiful woman. She was getting ready to begin a new career. She had a promising future. And still, she died in police custody under extremely mysterious circumstances. According to a recent report in the The Guardian , “based on the latest national figures available from the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 4,980 prisoners in US correctional facilities died in 2014, a nearly 3% increase from 2013. In addition, in state prisons, the mortality rate was 275 for every 100,000 people, the highest since data collection began in 2001.” We have to stop holding Black people to standards that we believe will save us in a system that is failing to protect us. Trayvon Martin did not die because of his hoodie. Alton Sterling didn’t die because of his previous issues with the law. Education and career choice couldn’t save Sandra or Philando Castile . They were victims of a racist system that needs to be changed. It’s Not Only Black Men Who Are In Danger The #SayHerName movement has been around for some time, but it was Sandra’s death, along with female victims like Korryn Gaines , Natasha McKenna , Rekia Boyd , and Kindra Chapman that thrust it into the national dialogue. But if Sandra is proof of anything, it’s that we have a long way to go. Were it not for social media and the tireless efforts of her family, we may never have known her name. It’s not hard to imagine just how many female victims remain ghosts in the public persona. Black women are one of the world’s most marginalized populations and we can no longer operate under the illusion that just because we aren’t hearing about it, it’s not happening. Tired Of This Sh**: Ya’ll Scum Of AmeriKKKa A$$ President Tells Women Of Color Congresswomen To “Go Back” To Their County

Source: Sara D. Davis / Getty Donald Trump Tells Progressive Democrat Congresswomen To “Go Back” To Their Country The day Trump is out of office will truly be THE DAY. Ya’ll raggedy a$$, racist a$$ president had the adolescent AUDACITY to come after Democrat congresswomen, specifically women of color who are pushing progressive politics. In a tweet, Donald Trump typed: “So interesting to see ‘Progressive’ Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run.” He vomited some more: “Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!” So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly…… — Donald J. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements! — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 14, 2019   Trash. trash. trash. trash. TRAAAASH. Although the president didn’t mention anyone by name, it’s clear he was referring to a group of progressive congresswomen who are pushing the envelope in the Democratic party, including Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, Ilhan Omar of Minnesota, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Ayanna Pressley of Massachusetts. And surprise, surprise, all of these women were born in the United States with the exception of one. Tlaib, a Palestinian American, was born in Michigan; Ocasio-Cortez,  who’s family is Puerto Rican,  was born in New York; and Pressley, a Black woman, was born in Cincinnati. Omar is a Somali refugee who moved to the U.S. when she was 12 and she became a citizen in 2000. Meanwhile, ya’ll crusty Cheeto-In-Chief is spewing dangerous rhetoric that could literally put these women’s life at risk. Trash. A lot of these women clapped back at the president with Ocasio-Cortez tweeting, “the country I ‘come from,’ & the country we all swear to, is the United States.” Mr. President, the country I “come from,” & the country we all swear to, is the United States. But given how you’ve destroyed our border with inhumane camps, all at a benefit to you & the corps who profit off them, you are absolutely right about the corruption laid at your feet. https://t.co/HLKQCotR8T — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 14, 2019   She continued: “You are angry because you don’t believe in an America where I represent New York 14, where the good people of Minnesota elected @IlhanMN, where @RashidaTlaib fights for Michigan families, where @AyannaPressley champions little girls in Boston.” “You are angry because you can’t conceive of an America that includes us. You rely on a frightened America for your plunder.” You are angry because you don’t believe in an America where I represent New York 14, where the good people of Minnesota elected @IlhanMN , where @RashidaTlaib fights for Michigan families, where @AyannaPressley champions little girls in Boston. /2 — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 14, 2019 You are angry because you can’t conceive of an America that includes us. You rely on a frightened America for your plunder. You won’t accept a nation that sees healthcare as a right or education as a #1 priority, especially where we’re the ones fighting for it. Yet here we are. — Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (@AOC) July 14, 2019   Meanwhile, Ilhan Omar tweeted: “Mr. President, As Members of Congress, the only country we swear an oath to is the United States. Which is why we are fighting to protect it from the worst, most corrupt and inept president we have ever seen.” Mr. President, As Members of Congress, the only country we swear an oath to is the United States. #MeToo: Sarah Jessica Parker Reveals She Was Harassed On Set By A “Very Big Movie Star”

Source: Mario Mitsis/WENN.com / WENN Sarah Jessica Parker Says She Was Harassed by A Big Movie Star On Set Sadly, even the biggest stars in the industry are subject to power imbalances and harassment in the workplace. Sarah Jessica Parker revealed recently that she was harassed by a “very, very big movie star” during a discussion of the #MeToo movement on an episode of NPR’s Fresh Air . The actress did not name who the person was or give away the project, but she wanted to make it clear that industry problems with harassment exist on all levels. She admitted that recent events forced her to reevaluate the way she had been treated throughout her career. “It really wasn’t, I would say, until about six or eight months ago that I started recognizing countless experiences of men behaving poorly, inappropriately, and all the ways that I had made it possible to keep coming to work or to remain on set, or to simply … just push it down, push it away, find a little space for it and move on,” she told host Terry Gross. The Sex and the City star also noted that a perceived power imbalance between herself and the unnamed star kept her quiet about his harassment for a really long time. Luckily, she eventually decided that she had enough and explained the situation to her agent. Her agent ended up threatening the right people, saying that Parker would walk if the harassment continued, and that’s when the environment changed immediately. “I didn’t have to listen to jokes about me or my figure or what people thought they could talk me into doing,” she said. “That stopped.” Sarah Jessica Parker also admitted that it can be difficult, even for a star of her caliber, to come forward.  “I didn’t feel as powerful as the man who was behaving inappropriately, which … strikes me as just stunning to say out loud because there were plenty of occasions where it was happening and I was in a different position and I was as powerful.”
