Daniel Wright, Former Biggest Loser Contestant, Dies at 30

Daniel Wright, a former contestant on NBC’s reality competition The Biggest Loser, died this week almost two years after first being diagnosed with cancer. He was 30 years old. Wright competed on the seventh season of the long-running weight-loss reality series. He passed away on Sunday morning from leukemia, a multitude of his Biggest Loser costars sadly confirmed on social media. “I am so so heartbroken to hear about Daniel Wright this morning. He has fought SO HARD during his battle with cancer & more,” former contestant Courtney Crozier Respess wrote on Facebook, for example. She added: “This man is one of the kindest people I have ever met & is a true difference maker in this world! “His faith has never faded, even in the darkest of times. I am honored to have known him!!!” Daniel was married to another former Biggest Loser Star, Rebecca Wright, who had been keeping fans apprised on her husband’s health on her Facebook page. In her most recent update on May 24, she said Wright’s doctors were doing an endoscopy at the hospital and asked fans for prayers. The prognosis did not sound positive. “So last night Daniel Wright had a lot of blood clots come out of his stool &this morning he threw up blood so they are doing a Endoscopy here in the next couple of hours to find the source of the bleed & then clamp, band, flush,or cauterize the source,” the post read. “This comes with complications be cause he is so sick but more if we do nothing!” Rebecca continued at this time: “Yesterday, the Lord broke me down & today because of your prayers & my pleading our Lord has made me warrior strong!! I will let you know when they will be doing the procedure as soon as I know. “He is much more alert today but still quite foggy. Once that’s all finished they’re going to be switching him back to the CVVHD or continuous dialysis because he’s so weak and we need to get him to make that urine!!  “Man alive this is insane & alone seems impossible but with GOD all things are possible. THANK YOU for your prayers & well wish I adore you all!!!!” Wright was initially diagnosed in October of 2017. He had started to return to work and to regain some normalcy in his life … when he relapsed with a more severe case of leukemia in December of 2018, according to his GoFundMe page, which remains active. Within 24 hours of this relapse, Wright was transported by ambulance to an Iowa City hospital,. This is where he spent nearly four weeks dealing with “fevers, infections, low blood counts, chemotherapy side effects, and attempts with immunotherapy treatments,” the GoFundMe states. Wrote Season 12’s Joe Mitchell as a tribute tribute to his friend on Monday. He’s pictured here with Rebecca, shortly after leaving the hospital earlier this year: Wrote Season 12’s Joe Mitchell as a tribute tribute to his friend on Monday: “Please keep Rebecca Wright and her family in your thoughts and prayers. After a long heroic fight, my fellow Biggest Loser and Browns fan Daniel Wright is at peace now in our Lord and Saviors arms. “He was a hero and a man of faith who inspired so many, including me, during his short time on this earth. “He and his lovely bride showed the whole world what true love, faith and commitment are all about and he will be truly missed.” May Daniel Wright rest in peace. GirlTrek Movement Inspires Black Women To Take Charge Of Their Health

T wo health advocates teamed up for the creation of a movement designed to empower Black women and girls to take charge of their health. For the past 8 years the nonprofit organization—dubbed GirlTrek—has been inspiring individuals to heal their bodies and reclaim their communities one step at a time, CNN reported. Black women start a walking movement to battle the obesity epidemic https://t.co/YIQjyxoiFU — Philadelphia Tribune (@PhillyTrib) May 22, 2019 The collective was created by T. Morgan Dixon and Vanessa Garrison . Cognizant of the racial health disparities impacting Black women the two friends, who met in college, were determined to create a platform that promoted health, wellness, and self-care. For Dixon and Garrison, the mission behind GirlTrek was personal. They wanted to break generational cycles and change the narrative surrounding Black women and wellness. “It wasn’t because we were walking enthusiasts or because we love to walk. When we started we were just trying to save our own lives,” Dixon told CNN. “How do we not fall in these pitfalls that our mothers and our aunts and our grandmothers have fallen into? Eighty percent of us are overweight and carrying that weight is killing us now at disproportionate levels. We can’t do it anymore. We can’t carry it anymore.” What started as a walking challenge for family and friends quickly grew into a national movement where over 170,00 women are walking with groups across the country with the assistance of 1,000 organizers. The mission goes far beyond getting fit. Many of the walks are inspired by civil rights pioneers and are hosted to spread awareness about issues impacting the Black community. The walks have fostered conversations amongst Black women about playing a role in the redevelopment of their communities. “We know that when Black women walk, things change, and that we walk in the footsteps of that legacy,” said Garrison. GirlTrek is on a mission to have 1 million women pledge to walk 30 minutes a day by 2020. SEE ALSO: Taraji P. Black Male Media Project Empowers Black Men To Reclaim Their Narratives

T he National Association of Black Journalists is on a mission to combat the negative portrayals of Black men in the media. For the third consecutive year, the organization will host its “Black Male Media Project” as an avenue to empower and inspire Black men to reclaim their narratives. The organization has been dedicated to the advocacy of Black journalists worldwide. The Black Male Media Project was created as a safe space to foster discussions surrounding everything from the need for more diversity and inclusion in newsrooms to the improvement of positive Black male representation. One of the panels, dubbed #MoreThanMugshots, will take a deep dive into how Black men are portrayed in news coverage. The event is also utilized to align Black men with mentoring and networking opportunities. As part of the global event—which is slated to take place on June 1—nearly 20 NABJ chapters within the U.S. and other parts of the world will host workshops, panels, forums. There will be events hosted in Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Birmingham, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Dallas, Detroit, Houston, Philadelphia and other major cities. The organization hopes that the movement transcends beyond the physical safe spaces that they’ve created as part of the event and encourages individuals to connect and spread awareness about the efforts digitally through the use of the hashtag #InspireBlackMen on social media. “The overarching goal of BMMP is to counteract negative images of Black men often portrayed in the media,” said NABJ President Sarah Glover said in a statement. “We encourage all newsrooms across the country to make this a priority because how Black men are portrayed in the news can have a direct impact on issues such as racial profiling, discriminatory hiring practices, violence and more. Black men are intellectuals, professionals, innovators, spiritual leaders, activists, fathers, brothers and sons just like any other man and should be treated and portrayed that way.” Forums like the Black Male Media Project are needed. According to a study conducted by the Rutgers School of Public Health, there is a direct correlation between the media’s negative portrayal of Black men and how they are treated by the police. O.J. Simpson Allegedly Bragged About A Hot Tub Hook-Up With Kris Jenner In The ’90s, According To Former Manager

Source: Tim Ockenden – PA Images / Getty Did O.J. Simpson Have A One Night Stand With Kris Jenner? Though he’s denied any romantic relationship with her in the past, O.J. Simpson’s former manager is claiming that something actually did go down between the disgraced football star and Kardashian matriarch Kris Jenner . According to reports from Page Six , Simpson’s former manager Norman Pardo alleges that Simpson once bragged about having sex with his best friend’s wife, Kris Kardashian, during a 1990s hot-tub tryst that ended up ruining both their marriages. Simpson and his then-wife Nicole, along with Robert and Kris Kardashian, were in a Jacuzzi one night while vacationing together, according to Pardo in his new documentary, Who Killed Nicole?   Once Nicole and Robert turned in, O.J. and Kris were left alone in the jacuzzi. “‘O.J. said he stood up, pulled his shorts down and, I’ll give you exactly what he said: ‘Her eyes bugged out of her head and I f–ked that B until I broke her,’” his former manager reportedly claims on camera . The Kardashians divorced shortly afterward in 1991 and the Simpsons ended up splitting up by early 1992. O.J. reportedly bragged about the one night stand to Pardo during a 2003 limo ride to an appearance at an Atlanta nightclub, the ex-manager recalled to The Post . While Robert Kardashian joined the team that represented Simpson during his murder trial in 1994–four years after the alleged hot tub hook-up–it was more out of practicality than friendship, according to Pardo. Norman Pardo says he is currently shopping his 90-minute documentary to distributors, which will get an online release on June 12 to mark the 25th anniversary of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Robert Goldman. Neither Kris Jenner nor O.J. Simpson have commented on these most recent allegations–but as we mentioned before, Simpson previously denied ever sleeping with the reality TV star back in 2015.

David Letterman Digs Into Kanye’s Trump Love, Sunday Service And Struggles With Mental Health For “My Next Guest”

Source: Janet Mayer/ SplashNews / Splash News David Letterman Gets Kanye To Open Up About Late Mom, Mental Illness And Trump In case you haven’t already heard — we’ll have another chance to get a better understanding of Kanye West and his “interesting” life and philosophies thanks to his appearance in the new season of David Letterman’s Netflix show “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.” According to an early preview by the Daily Beast the conversation covers a range of topics including music, fashion and Kanye’s relationships with his father and late mom as Kim Kardashian West sits in the audience watching. Letterman even takes a trip to KimYe’s crib where he tries on pieces from the Yeezy collection, to Kim’s approval. “You look really good,” Kim tells him. View this post on Instagram Just two guys having a laugh. Five new episodes — including Kanye and Dave — are coming next Friday to @Netflix. A post shared by David Letterman (@letterman) on May 25, 2019 at 7:00am PDT We were probably most interested to hear that he brings up other artists he’s been at odds with: During a discussion about his lyrics, Kanye begins to say, “An artist which I will not mention, because I’m not allowed to mention him or any of his family members…” Letterman responds with, “That’s fairly provocative.” “Well, we had a little beef last year,” Kanye says, before revealing that he is referring to Drake. “He has this line that I love that says, ‘I told my story and made history’—like made his story and made history. That’s what we do, we tell our story and then people relate to that story.” But then, he adds, people latch onto that story and get mad when it goes in a direction they don’t expect. “I have a friend who told me that my power is my influence,” Kanye continues. “And I said my power is my ability to not be influenced.” Letterman follows with, “Wow, this is pretty good.” The interview also addresses Kanye’s mental health issues, which he describes thusly: “When you’re bipolar, you have the potential to ramp up and it can take you to a point where you start acting erratic, as TMZ would put it,” the rapper says, referencing his on-air meltdown at that outlet’s offices last year. Ye, who stopped taking his medication a year ago, argues that his disease likely fuels his creativity: “If you guys want these crazy ideas and these crazy stages and this crazy music and this crazy way of thinking,” he says, “there’s a chance if might come from a crazy person.” Of course we saved the best for last… Letterman doesn’t ask Kanye about Trump, Kanye brings up that relationship on his own: In the midst of an argument about his “fear” as a man during the #MeToo movement, Kanye says, “This is like my thing with Trump—we don’t have to feel the same way, but we have the right to feel what we feel.” When he wears his “Make America Great Again” hat, he says it’s “not about politics” but rather an attempt to break the stigma around showing support for Trump. “Did you vote for Trump?” Letterman asks him. “I’ve never voted in my life,” Kanye answers. “Then you don’t have a say in this,” Letterman shoots back to cheers from the audience. Kanye responds, “Well you got me, you got me,” before going on his anti-13th Amendment rant that drew Trump’s praise and may or may not have been inspired by conservative activist Candace Owens. From there, Letterman tries to get Kanye to condemn the Republican-led voter suppression efforts during the most recent midterm elections. “So if I see a person that I admire talking about Donald Trump can think whatever he does,” he says, “I wonder if those thoughts, indirectly, aren’t hurting people who are already being hurt.” Instead of addressing Letterman’s point, Kanye turns around and expresses sympathy for Trump voters who are “treated like enemies of America because that’s what they felt.” After Letterman makes his forceful case against the idea that Trump is some sort of savior to those who voted for him, Kanye takes a long pause. “Have you ever been beat up in your high school for wearing the wrong hat?” he asks eventually. Asked who is doing the bulk of the bullying in America right now, he replies, “Liberals bully people who are Trump supporters!” YIKES… But according to the Daily Beast, Ye kinda manages to redeem himself by revealing some of his James Turrell-inspired Sunday Service project. The episode and four others lands at Netflix this Friday May 31. Will you be watching? Check out the trailer below: Hit the flip to see Kanye talk about his late mom Donda

Jana Kramer Celebrates 4 Years of Marriage with Sex-Addicted Husband!

Jana Kramer and husband Mike Caussin have had a rocky past three years of matrimony, to say the least.  But after multiple infidelity reports, breakups, and miscarriages — it seems as though they have finally entered the calm after the storm.  Kramer, 34, never gave up on love, and both her and Caussin’s transparency throughout kept fans rooting for them.  They fought through hell and back to get to where they are today, but somehow, they made it through. On Wednesday, May 22 the happy couple celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary and marked the special day by sharing some photos, of course.  “We laughed… we cried…we drank wine… we watched the sun go down, and we toasted to 4 years,” the country singer captioned a pic with her hubby to her Instagram.  “A take away we wanted to share, whatever you are in your relationship right now, choose each other… choose to fight.” “It can be a beautiful ride,” she concluded. Adding the hashtag #daretolove.” Earlier in the day, Jana also shared a throwback photo from the couple’s big day.  “Marriage hasn’t been a ‘piece of cake’ but I wouldn’t change a thing,” she wrote.  “Happy 4 years babe.” I’m sure she would change a few things, but at the end of the day their story is special and they’ve done a great job at sharing it with the world thanks to their joint  Whine Down  podcast.  The couple opens up in an honest and raw way when it comes to their personal struggles (which is very brave of Mike, who often discusses his sex addiction) to guide and inspire other relationships, showing them that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel.  The One Tree Hill alum previously discussed the work that goes into keeping her marriage together, saying: “I actually wanted to work on it. Cause he effed up in the very beginning… even when we were dating.” “And if he didn’t actually really want to work on it, he could have easily have been like, ‘Yeah, whatever, next.’ And I could have too,” she said. “I could have been like, ‘Oh, he screwed up, next.’ But I didn’t … I really liked him.” Jana’s mentality on her cheating beau remained the same throughout their marriage, according to Us Weekly .  The songstress stuck by the former football player’s side after he revealed in September 2016 that he had cheated on his wife with multiple women.  Though the couple briefly split following news of the affairs, they reconciled months later.  Jana stayed when the athlete had a “massive” relapse in his sex addiction , which he currently receives treatment for.  “It’s so easy to get divorced nowadays,” she explained on her show.  “It’s so easy. So, it’s like, you have to work at it. It’s hard. It sucks. Some days, it literally sucks. “I would say that in the times in chaos is when I love him the most because it’s like, ‘Ok, we’re here, doing this together.'” The actress revealed in July 2018 that a large part of her decision not to leave Mike also came on behalf of the couple’s adorable daughter Jolie, 3.  “I stayed in the beginning for Jolie, so that I could say to my daughter, ‘I tried everything to keep this family together,'” she said on a June 4 episode of the podcast.  “Now, I’m not sacrificing my happiness. If I was still miserable, I would not still be in a relationship with my husband. But we’ve continued to grow.” Literally. The small, cute fam has since added a new member — baby boy Jace who is 5-months-old!  We’re happy that Mike and Jana were able to overcome their struggles and show the world — love can prevail.  Happy Anniversary, you two!  View Slideshow: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle Share Never-Before-Seen Wedding Pics on 1-Year Anniversary
