The mayor of Hoschton, GA is currently the subject of an Atlanta Journal Constitution investigation because she allegedly withheld a job candidate from consideration for a city administrator role because he was black. According to documents obtained by the AJC and interviews with city officials, Mayor Theresa Kenerly told a member of the City Council she pulled Keith Henry’s resume from a packet of four finalists “because he is black, and the city isn’t ready for this.” The mayor’s comments were reportedly whispered to a member of the council during a closed-door session on March 4th, and were overheard. Councilwoman Hope Weeks said Kenerly repeated her comments in the parking lot after the meeting, according to a document released by the city in response to an open records request from the AJC. “She proceeded to tell me that the candidate was real good, but he was black and we don’t have a big black population and she just didn’t think Hoschton was ready for that,” Weeks wrote in an account dated March 4. Weeks shared Kenerly’s comments with Councilwoman Susan Powers and the two decided to take the issue to city attorney Thomas Mitchell. “Both of us were just appalled, so we thought we had to do something to stop it,” Powers said. Weeks declined to be interviewed on the record, but issued a statement saying she was disappointed in the mayor’s comments about the candidate. “Mr. Henry was a very professional and qualified candidate who was a finalist for the position of city administrator before withdrawing to accept another position,” she said. “I am thankful for the opportunity to serve the citizens of Hoschton, but this has been one of the most challenging seasons of my life.” According to emails obtained by the AJC, Mitchell and the city’s five elected officials opted to continue the hiring process, allowing Kenerly to attend but not participate. Mitchell also cautioned officials to cease sending emails about the issue. “I do not think it in the best interests of the city (or the individual elected officials) to continue emailing in this manner,” he wrote in a March 14 email. In emails, Powers protested the mayor’s continued involvement in the search for a city administrator. “Since she corrupted this entire process by trying to shield the application of Mr. Henry from Council members and then making the comment to the effect that while he is qualified he should not be considered because he is black and the city is not ready for this, she should not be a part of this hiring process,” Powers wrote. “I am appalled that in 2019 an applicant would not be hired based solely on the color of their skin.” Henry withdrew his candidacy not long after the March 4 meeting and a phone interview with council members. He told the AJC he chose to withdraw because the city asked that he pay his travel, room, and board to travel for an in-person interview with the promise of reimbursement at a later date. Two of the other candidates for the position were local, while the third was willing to drive from the Georgia coast at his own expense. Henry told the AJC he didn’t detect any bias after being interviewed by Kenerly over the phone but as a black man applying for executive government positions in small Southern towns, he wasn’t surprised that it may have existed. “It comes with the territory,” he said. “If you live in America as a minority you can’t be naïve that it is the reality that you face.” Kenerly refused to initially answer questions about her reported comments, saying she could not publicly talk about matters that occurred in executive session even though the law does not forbid that. “I can’t say I said it or not said it,” she said. Kenerly later issued a statement disputing accounts from other city officials. Kenerly was not without defenders. Councilman Jim Cleveland confirmed many aspects of the story, including his account that Kenerly made a tearful apology in another executive session on March 12, where council members say she claimed to be “looking out” for Henry because the city does not have a lot of minority residents. “I was there for that,” Cleveland said. “She cried. She had tears in her eyes. It was in my opinion a very sincere apology.” Cleveland also seemed to express understanding of Kenerly’s motives saying: “I understood where she was coming from,” he said. “I understand Theresa saying that, simply because we’re not Atlanta. Things are different here than they are 50 miles down the road.” Cleveland described Hoschton as “a predominantly white community” not in accord with urban sensibilities about race.“I don’t know how they would take it if we selected a black administrator. She might have been right,” he said. Cleveland said he ranked Henry fourth out of the candidates in any case because he’d elected not to come for the in-person interview. Councilman Cleveland also shared his not so enlightened views on race: “I’m a Christian and my Christian beliefs are you don’t do interracial marriage. That’s the way I was brought up and that’s the way I believe,” he said. “I have black friends, I hired black people. But when it comes to all this stuff you see on TV, when you see blacks and whites together, it makes my blood boil because that’s just not the way a Christian is supposed to live.” YIKES… Sounds like Hoschton has a loooooong way to go when it comes to race. Located just outside Gwinnett County, in Jackson County, adjacent to the larger city of Braselton, Hoschton has a population of less than 2,000 people and only 201 of that number identify as non-white according to U.S. Census data. Hoschton’s city code reads: “There shall be no discrimination exercised because of race, national origin, color, religion, creed, age, sex … All personnel actions shall be based solely on individual merit and fitness.” Looks like the code is a long way from being followed.
Source: Jonathan Gibby / Getty WRITTEN BY: Bruce T. Wright There have been renewed calls to open up the investigation into Sandra Bland ’s suspicious death after a Texas news outlet published the video she filmed of her own infamous arrest in 2015. The footage, made public by WFAA late Monday night, was apparently evidence that local police had been concealing for nearly four years. The revelation that Bland was aware enough to grab her smartphone and record the harrowing ordeal convinced many users across social media that the 28-year old Chicago native was prepared to hold police accountable in a court of law. Instead, three days later, police said they found Bland hanging in her Waller County jail cell and ruled her death a suicide. Text “RICKEY” to 71007 to join the Rickey Smiley Morning Show mobile club for exclusive news. ( Terms and conditions ). Authorities want us to believe Sandra Bland killed herself in jail due to minor traffic infraction. This woman was ready to fight them in court. https://t.co/D4o8PrMnBr — FERRARI SHEPPARD (@stopbeingfamous) May 7, 2019 Initial body cam footage showed the arresting officer getting belligerent after Bland demanded to know why she was being arrested, let alone removed from her vehicle, for the minor traffic infraction of changing lanes without a turn signal. The video from 2015 went viral and showed the cop violently threatening Bland with his Taser: “I will light you up!” Few cases got more public scrutiny/media attention. Yet, we've still ended up seeing “never before seen video” in both the Michael Brown and Sandra Bland cases as well as an outside investigation into Oscar Grant's killing that was kept from the public FOR A DECADE — Wesley (@WesleyLowery) May 7, 2019 After seeing the newly surfaced video from back then, Bland’s family was demanding justice years after it had been denied to them. Email Submit “Open up the case, period,” Shante Needham said to WFAA after she saw the video on Monday, prompting her to suspect the Waller Police Department was complicit in her sister’s death. “We also know they have an extremely, extremely good cover-up system.” Stop referring to that Sandra Bland video as “new”. It's 4 four years old and the only reason why it's “new” is because the authorities tried to bury it. pic.twitter.com/M0gLra8IFt — DJ Sapien (@DJ_Sapien) May 7, 2019 By all means, Bland had every reason to want to live, including the fact that she was set to start a new job at Prairie View A&M University, a historically Black college which is located about 20 minutes north of where the officer pulled her over. The Texas Department of Public Safety denied it had withheld any evidence. “The premise that the video was not produced as a part of the discovery process is wrong,” the agency told WFAA in a brief statement. “A hard drive containing copies of 820 Gigabytes of data compiled by DPS from its investigation, including the dashcam videos, jail video footage and data from Sandra Bland’s cell phone, was part of discovery.” Sandra Bland was arrested for no reason. The state of Texas had evidence of that. They covered it up. And she’s dead. There is no justice. — marisa kabas (@MarisaKabas) May 7, 2019 Bland’s case became a rallying call in the push for criminal justice reform after she died following an arrest for failing to use her turn signal in July 2015. Many activists argued that she should not have been arrested for a minor traffic infraction or jailed in the first place. Earlier this year, another Black inmate was also found dead after apparently hanging himself in the same Texas jail where Bland died, prompting further questions about the facility. Bland’s death sparked police reforms that in practice should have prevented the death in January. For one thing, face-to-face cell inspections were supposed to occur more frequently after Bland died. But with the other inmate’s death, it appeared that protocol was not followed. See below for the recently revealed footage from 2015 that Bland filmed of her own arrest. Patricia Contreras is some mexican actress who knows damn well what she’s doing as she lets her tits slip out of her wet bikini on the beach… When the paparazzi are there cuz you called them, give them something to sell to the tabloids…it will help her work visa application in America, and maybe get her some followers and some casting as America needs every story to read like a United Nations meeting, if a group of friends don’t include 1 Arab, 1 hispanic (mexican or puerto rican are interchangeable) 1 Asian (of any asian background as long as the eyes are slanty), 1 Black Person (african or Caribbean or South American, whatever, just make sure they are dark enough on the pantone color card), 1 Native American and 3 white people, while all are totally white washed in the way they speak and chase boys, it won’t get prriducing…. Either way, good work Patricia the Stripper. JOIN THE NEWSLETTER YOU ASSHOLES! The post Patricia Contreras Tit Slip of the Day appeared first on DrunkenStepFather.com .

Kelly made his way to court Tuesday (May 7) to battle claims made by attorney Michael Avenatti, who says he was given a pair of sex tapes showing Kelly engaging in sexual acts with underage girls. Kelly’s side is fighting the claims, saying that Avenatti manipulated and conspired with Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx into bringing this case to light and wants the alleged footage tossed. TMZ reports : The embattled singer is trying to blow up the sex tape by suggesting something fishy was going on between Avenatti and Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx. In R. Kelly’s legal docs, he notes Avenatti has publicly claimed to have had repeated conversations with Foxx, and based on what happened in the Jussie Smollett case, he describes the prosecutor as someone who is “able to be influenced and wowed.” He goes on to allege there are questions to suggest Foxx was “bullied or just simply manipulated by Avenatti.” Avenatti previously came forward with 2 sex tapes he claims show Kelly having sex with a 14-year-old girl … and Kelly’s legal team wanted to know more about Avenatti’s relationship with Foxx, saying they were concerned Avenatti might have “bullied or simply manipulated” Foxx. A live feed from courthouse can be viewed below. In an update, Kelly’s lawyers were told by the judge to come back and explain why they beleive Avenatti and Foxx are conspiring. — Photo: Getty

Source: picture alliance / Getty And the 80’s horror remakes just keep on coming. In a year that’s seen cats come back to life thanks to a pet sematary, a doll named Chucky take on homicidal tendencies, and the return of a demonic dancing clown that feasts on children like they’re lemon pepper chicken wings, we’re now getting word that another 80’s horror icon is about to be resurrected for a new generation of horror buffs. According to Deadline , Clive Barker’s classic film Hellraiser is being rebooted by Spyglass Media Group and they’re handing over the reigns to celebrated writer/producer David S. Goyer ( Blade, The Dark Knight ). For y’all youngn’s that aren’t familiar with the Hellraiser franchise, it basically revolves around a rubik’s cube that can open a door to an alternate dimension where a demon known as Pinhead resides and who gets off on watching users suffer all kinds of bodily harm. Using specialized chains, hooks, and whips, victims immediately regret playing with fate and end up getting torn to pieces before becoming a part of his leatherclad click known as Cenobites. Since it’s debut in ’87, Hellraiser has seen 10 sequels (most of them were eh, but bloody and gory), and some graphic novels that it’s most hardcore fans collected over the decades. Though most remakes are suspect and usually cash grab moves, David S. Goyer is a proven veteran who’s made some classic joints over the years and as it turns out he’s a fan of the horror franchise, so this might actually turn out to be a genius move. Goyer said, “I’ve been a fan of Clive’s work since the original Books of Blood paperbacks and The Hellbound Heart novella. Having the chance to reimagine Pinhead and the Cenobites for a new audience is a nightmare-come-true. Gary is a true fan as well and we’re committed to making something dark and visceral.” No word on when Hellraiser will be landing in theaters but best believe we’ll be eagerly awaiting to see what kind of nightmare Goyer brings to the big screen.
