Day told PEOPLE , “It’s a tricky balance getting the slope just right without severe angles, so the water stays in one place! Only the best fabricator can accomplish this.” She added that the unique bathroom sink is made of quartz, which she estimates would cost around $15,000 to use on the countertop, the custom slope and the 6-inch mitered edge. The outlet is reporting that Sam believes that Emani’s biological mother is unable to care for the child. In Sam’s eyes, she’s assisted for the care of of Emani throughout her life and wants to “ensure the continued stability” for her and “ensure that she will be able to maintain her current and ongoing relationship” with her late father’s family. A judge has yet to rule on the guardianship petition. Hussle was tragically murdered on March 31 in front of his Marathon Clothing store. He was laid to rest in a private ceremony on April 12th, one day after a public memorial service at Staples Center. Source: Westend61 / Getty This…is…scary!!! HIV Contracted After Vampire Facials A bizarre but trendy procedure caused damning consequences for two people at a New Mexico spa. After at first urging patrons of Albuquerque’s VIP Spa to get tested, health officials have confirmed that two people contracted the HIV virus. The New Mexico Department of Health said in a news release Monday that two clients of the spa who received “vampire facials” last year were recently infected with the same HIV strain. The facial procedure that’s garnered attention from celebs who tried it, uses the client’s own blood and injects it into the face to replenish the skin. KOAT Action News reports that more than 100 people have already been tested for HIV, hepatitis B, and C and VIP Spa closed in September after state agencies found issues with how needles were handled and disposed of. The New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department added that the owner of VIP Spa did not have a licensed professional to draw blood. So, so scary. Be CAREFUL with the procedures you undergo, folks!
The ugliness is over. And the celebration can now begin for Shannon Beador. Back on April 24, Shannon and ex-husband David agreed to terms on their divorce settlement, putting to an end one of the more vicious break-ups in recent memory. At the time, however, the details of this settlment were kept private, with fans asking the expected question of who came out on top, financially speaking. We now appear to have an answer. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, David has agreed to pay Shannon $1.4 million “to equalize the division of community property as set forth herein.” The former couple will also share joint legal and physical custody of their three daughters — and they both agreed not to move outside Orange County with the kids. Moreover, David pay Shannon $2,935 per month in child support, plus $7,065 for spousal support … for a total $10,000 a month. This is a huge figure, but it’s actually a drastic reduction from $22,000 she was being paid on temporary basis over the past few months. Reads the divorce judgment: “The parties shall communicate with one another to ensure the children are appropriately cared for at all times. “The parties shall cooperate to promote healthy parent-child relationships between each party and each of the children, and neither party shall make derogatory remarks about the other in the presence of the children.” The kids in question are 17-year old Sophie and 14-year-old twins Stella and Adeline. The reality stars split in September of 2017 after over 17 years of marriage and then Shannon filed to end their relationship in December of 2017. The romance was rocky even before it ended, with Season 10 of The Real Housewives of Orange County focusing on David’s admitted infidelity. The couple tried to repair its marriage on air through therapy and open dialogue with their family — but to no avail in the end. “The truth about the state of my marriage is that it’s not good,” Shannon said on an episode of this Bravo reality show, adding at the time: “I just want to know how David feels because living in this limbo, it’s kind of a form of torture. I just want to know.” Eventually, Shannon got what she asked for — but this information came in the form of David accusing his estranged wife of being a drunk . In March, Shannon won joint legal and physical custody of her daughters, along $22,500 per month for child and spousal support After having referred to David as both “disgusting” and a “nickel and dimer” in previous statements, Shannon may not be thrilled with this figure being slashed by more than half in the final settlement. But at least she’s now free from the constraints of her marriage. The settlement prevents the exes from having to go through with a scheduled trial and avoids Shannon from having David’s allegations made even more public, considering he said in the past that her drinking and her “behavior” were “detrimental to the children.” He also said on many occasions that she had gotten really fat. Among the things Shannon will maintain in the divorce: She will keep a 2015 Cadillac Escalade; a leased 2018 BMW7 Series sedan; her bank accounts; and household furniture and furnishings currently in her possession. David will keep a property near Corona, California; the Beador Construction Company; a 1998 Ford Expedition; a 2008 Ford Explorer; a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover SC; a 2017 BMW X3; a 2018 Ford Raptor Truck; a leased 2018 Porsche Carrera Turbo Cabriolet; a 2019 Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV; and household furniture and furnishings presently in his possession. He is currently listed in stable condition and is awake and responsive. Both his medical team and family are optimistic for a speedy recovery. At this time, privacy is requested; however, the thoughts and prayers of friends and fans are welcomed and appreciated.” The news came after reports that movie director John Singleton was in grave health following a stroke he suffered last week. Bryson is known for songs like 1992’s “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle, which won a Grammy and an Academy Award. His 1991 duet with Celine Dion, titled “Beauty and the Beast,” also won an Oscar and a Golden Globe award. The Washington Post reported in 2014 that there is a huge risk of a heart attack for black men over 40, “American Journal of Preventive Medicine showed a striking increase in risk for black men between ages 40 and 79. The study found that, in the period 2011 to 2014, 65 percent of them were at high risk of having a heart attack or stroke in the next 10 years — compared with 54 percent for that age group during the period 1999 to 2002. Meanwhile, the study found that the comparable risk for white men rose from 44 to 48 percent in that period.” According to Your Heart Health , “Black Americans are at greater risk for cardiovascular disease and stroke than White Americans.B lack women (49%) and Black men (44%) have higher rates of heart disease.” According to Mayo Clinic, there are several lifestyle changes you can make to reduce your risk of heart disease: • Quit or don’t start smoking • Exercise 30 to 60 minutes a day on most days of the week, or 60 to 90 minutes if you need to lose weight • Maintain a healthy weight • Eat a diet that’s low in saturated fat, cholesterol and salt • Take prescribed medications appropriately • Manage other conditions that are risk factors for heart disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes. Source: Theo Wargo / Getty Images for Roc Nation “He Is I And I Am Him” As the Great Young Hov took the stage during his much-anticipated ‘B-Sides 2’ performance at Webster Hall in New York City on Friday, I stood in the crowd surveying what was transpiring before my eyes. The man known as Shawn Carter, and the performer known as Jay-Z had merged to meet on the stage. Like a superhero, we’ve come to know the public facing side of the performer while the man has been kept elusive. But after Friday and as a longtime Jay-Z fan, I felt connected to the duality that his performance represented. Prior to him taking the stage, we were warned by DJ Clark Kent that this would be Jay’s most gritty set to date. He spinned deep cuts that only the most invested rap heads would know, with a heavy emphasis on Kanye West, Dipset and Nas. But what we did not know was that Kent had given us a precursor for what was to come. And it wasn’t so much about the ways he sprouted out the lyrics across his almost 30-year-career in the rap game, it was also about the literal style and execution. Every detail from the glimmering Roc-A-Fella chandelier on the ceiling to Jay-Z’s attire, to his pouring of multiple glasses of champagne to share with the crowd, summoned us back to a time when Black people owned their music, their image and their message, transforming us to what felt like a one-night-only front stage seat at the Cotton Club. And if that was the case then I claim Jay, standing on the stage, embodied the charisma and charm of Sammy Davis Jr. If we are keeping it about Black excellence during that time that would be the only way for me to describe it. “Who You Know Fresher Than Hov, Riddle Me That?” Source: Theo Wargo / Getty Images for Roc Nation As his accompanying band, 1500 or Nothin’, walked out all dressed in suits, I started to get the feeling that my Cotton Club dreams were coming to fruition. They began playing “The Prelude,” Jay-Z’s opening track on Kingdom Come which signaled his return to rap for about 15 seconds, until an orange light flickered in the middle of the stage, and there right before us stood Jay-Z. The rapper wore a custom tailored suit styled by June Ambrose with a gold medallion. He also sported a matching headband which cropped his full coiled afro. The bandana and the suit again represented the duality that Jay-Z and Shawn Carter represent, from where he came, to what the journey laid before us. The nearly three-hour set took us down a path that was not always linear, but over the course of 41 songs, we were in full agreement that the man before us was one of the greatest of all time to ever do it. There was a moment, which has now become internet fodder, where Jay gave a tribute to the late Nipsey Hussle with a freestyle verse at the end of “Some How Some Way.” While many took issue with the rapper’s allegiance to capitalism and the use of his word “gentrification” as a call to mobilize Black entrepreneurs to take back their neighborhoods, it also signaled that in the age of the internet, one word phrases and small snippets just didn’t give the moment justice. And while I do believe in keeping our public figures accountable, the brevity of what Friday represented, along with the lyrics to “The Can’t Be Life,” in relation to Nipsey’s life was pitch perfect. “Can’t Touch The Untouchable, Break The Unbreakable” Source: Theo Wargo / Getty Images for Roc Nation Somewhere near “American Dreamin’” the energy shifted and like the inaugural B-Sides concert in 2015, it was made evident that Jay was bringing out a few guests for the ride. And then out walked Nasir Jones, donning a Black tux suit with a floor length leather coat. The two former foes had long since laid their lyrical powers against each other to the side. But to see their chemistry up close was astounding. As the set moved into, “Success,” followed by “The World Is Yours,” there was Jay, rapping Nas’ lyrics alongside the man himself, oftentimes playing the hype man to the iconic Queensbridge emcee. By this time, we knew other special guests would appear, so when Cam’ron Harlem’s very own walked out, it was full hysteria. The two rapped the first few verses of “Welcome To New York City,” until that same orange light singled that yet again another rap pioneer, Jim Jones, was making his entrance onto the stage. Jay again played the background while Cam’ron and Jones, took over as one half of Dipset to perform “I Really Mean It.” By the time Cam’ron and Jones walked off, with Cam’ron visibly emotional, the crowd was in an uproar. But the rest of the journey would not deter to another special guest, it would be a moment for the rapper to spit some of his most personal lyrics including “Blueprint (Momma Loves Me)” and Adnis. After that intimate set Jay and his longtime DJ and confidant Young Guru ran through snippets of deep cuts while Jay rapped off memory to “Show You How,” “LA-LA-LA,” and “I Love the Dough.” By the time the rapper closed out the show, with a jazzy rendition of “Hovi Baby” I knew Jay, the leader of the pack, had achieved exactly what he set out to do.
John Singleton will be taken off of life support today (April 29) according to his family. The renowned director’s family issued a statement confirming the decision. “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our beloved son, father and friend, John Daniel Singleton will be taken off of life support today,” reads the family’s statement, per ABC News . “This was an agonizing decision, one that our family made, over a number of days, with the careful counsel of John’s doctors.” It continues, “It is, for us, heartbreaking. We are grateful to his fans, friends and colleagues for the outpouring of love and prayers during this incredibly difficult time.” Seems like all the confusion earlier today about whether or not Singleton was still alive was due to poor communication.
