Not only was it the best-selling book of 2018 in the U.S , but it’s very close to becoming the most successful memoir of all-time. It’s being reported that she’s sold nearly 10 million copies around the world since its November debut. “We believe this could be the most successful memoir in history,” Thomas Rabe, head of one of Penguin Random House’s parent companies, said Tuesday according to the Wall Street Journal. Penguin’s chief executive, Markus Dohle co-signed on Rabe’s sentiments. “I’m not aware, in my personal experience with Penguin Random House, that we ever sold 10 million units of a memoir,” he said. The Hill reported that a Penguin Random House spokeswoman confirmed the numbers, saying on Tuesday that, in the United States and Canada alone, “Becoming” has “sold more than 6.2 million units across print, digital, and audio formats since its publication.”(Book sales aren’t routinely tracked in other countries.) As we previously reported , Becoming is an immensely personal book where Obama opened up for the first time publicly about a range of issues including experiencing a miscarriage, conceiving both of her children with IVF and having to seek couples therapy with former President Barack Obama . In a lengthy piece titled “I Never Wanted to Be That Guy,” Humphries opens up about his athletic past, his basketball career, his poor attitude over the years — and, yes, of course, his very brief marriage to Ray J’s former sex tape partner. (For those somehow unaware, Humphries and Kardashian were married for 72 days back in 2011. Yes, 72 days. Due to the hilariously short length of this union, most observers have assumed that the relationship was a complete farce. They’ve assumed it was a mere PR stunt meant to bring the couple attention and money before they went their separate ways. But Humphries insists, all this time later, that there was nothing phony about the romance at all. “I met a girl who happened to be really famous, and I got married, and.…. Damn,” writes Kris in this article, adding that he “should have known what I was getting into” with Kardashian, and yet: “I was definitely naive about how much my life was going to change. But the one thing that really bothers me is whenever people say that my marriage was fake.” There’s plenty about the Kardashian universe that is not “entirely real,” explains Humphries, who should know because he appeared on plenty of Keeping Up with the Kardashians episodes. But his feelings for Kim? The vows they exchanged? His hopes and dreams for their future? “Our actual relationship was 100% real,” he emphasizes here, expounding as follows: “When it was clear that it wasn’t working … what can I say? It sucked. “It’s never easy to go through the embarrassment of something like that — with your friends, with your family…. But when it plays out so publicly, in front of the world, it’s a whole other level. Continues Humphries: “I didn’t know how to handle it, because I never thought I was going to be famous in that way. “I remember having this moment when I was getting booed so hard in Philly, and I thought to myself, “Why exactly are they booing me, though? Is it because they think I disrespected the game of basketball?” Humphries played in 800 career games and averaged 6.7 points and 5.4 rebounds. He was a perfectly solid rotation player who played for eight teams. The Minnesota native exceled in college and only ever wanted “to be known for basketball,” he writes in this piece. But that hasn’t been the case for almost a decade now. “There was about a year where I was in a dark place,” he says of the divorce proceedings. “I didn’t want to leave my home. You feel like … I don’t know … the whole world hates you, but they don’t even know why. They don’t even know you at all. They just recognize your face, and they’re on you.” Humphries would even lie and tell strangers on the street that he was someone else when they approached him. It was really tough for awhile. “I didn’t want to be Kris Humphries,” he says, adding: “It’s the craziest feeling in the world, not wanting to be yourself. And I didn’t even want to say anything to defend myself, because it felt like I couldn’t win. You can’t go up against the tabloids. You can’t go up against that machine. There’s no point. “And even if I played that game, I felt like it would be disrespecting the game of basketball.” As for whether he’d ever get back together with Kim, who is married to Kanye West and who has three children? Look, whether you believe Jussie actually lied or not, you have to admit that these folks’ being so upset over his charges being dropped it is quite the comedic twist. The lone Kardashian brother has been paying $20,000 in child support, but requested that payment be lowered due to changes in his financial situation–and it looks like it worked. The new agreement between Rob and Chy reportedly has each parent paying only for their daughter’s needs, like medical expenses and splitting the cost of her schooling in half, according to reports from TMZ . The parents will also be splitting custody of dream right down the middle, even though Rob will likely end up spending more time with Dream. Just last month, the former couple provided fans and critics with updates about their co-parenting relationship following rumors that the two were feuding once again. Rob tweeted saying, “Angela and I are bother actively co-parenting and there are no pending or active custody cases.” Chyna added to that sentiment in her own tweet, writing, “Robert and I only concern is what’s in the best interest of our daughter that we both equally love. Additionally, Robert is a wonderful father to our Dreamy!” Back in September of 2017, Kardashian’s former attorney Robert Shapiro confirmed to Page Six that the couple successfully came to a custody agreement. Since then, they’ve battled over their financial situation, but now that too has come to an end.

According to ABC 7 , a 5-month-old Italian baby died when his parents tried to circumcise him at their home. The child entered cardiac arrest and was brought to the hospital by helicopter for care. But unfortunately, on Friday night it passed away. The prosecutor’s office in the northern province of Reggio Emilia has opened an investigation that could possibly lead to manslaughter charges. The infant is set to undergo an autopsy. This is not the first baby in Italy that tragically died after their parents tried to play doctor. In Rome, a two-year-old died from severe blood loss after their parents tried to circumcise them back in December. In this case, the kid’s twin brother also nearly died, but they survived following intensive care treatment. Italy’s Roman Catholic majority usually refrains from circumcisions, however, many Muslim immigrants practice the act for cultural and religious reasons. They face complications when trying to access the treatment in hospitals. For some, the hospital costs are too steep, and in some Italian hospitals, the doctors refuse to perform circumcisions until the boys have reached age four or older. Foad Aodi, the founder of the association of foreign doctors in Italy (AMSI), has appealed to health officials to allow circumcisions at an affordable prices. He also advocates lowering the age of access to help prevent clandestine attempts at circumcision.

It’s unclear exactly when this occurred and it’s unclear what sort of illicit substance(s) ended up in her body, but the polarizing television personality came right out and admitted on air last week that she’s seeking professional assistance. On a daily basis, really. “I’ve had a struggle with cocaine in my past,” Williams told viewers on air, explaining: “I never went to a place to get the treatment. I don’t know how, except God was sitting on my shoulder and I just stopped.” In the video below, she then details how she’s currently residing in a sober living facility while battling her addiction demons. Wendy Williams Breaks Down, Reveals: I’m Living in a Sober House According to multiple reports, meanwhile, Williams’ husband of two decades, Kevin Hunter, has been carrying on an affair with someone named Sharina Hudson. This has been an open secret for years — and it’s been far more involved than just the occasional sext. Outlets have claimed that Hunter lives a “double life,” that Hudson lives mere miles away from Williams… and THAT SHE’S PREGNANT WITH HIS BABY . Well, she was pregnant with his baby, we should now write. Hudson has allegedly given birth and Hunter is the alleged father of her child. According to Page Six, Hudson welcomed a newborn at a Philadelphia hospital on Monday, with a source telling this newspaper of her and Hunter: “Apparently, they chose this location because they were worried that if she gave birth in New York, it would be leaked to the press.” A second insider adds: “This is a crazy situation, Wendy is in a halfway house fighting for her sobriety, while her husband is at the side of his mistress who is giving birth to a baby. Sharina went into labor on Sunday [and] is believed to have given birth late on Sunday or in the early hours of Monday.” Like we said at the outset: How can you not feel badly for Willians here?!? Williams and Hunter got married in 1997share 18-year-old son Kevin Jr. They have both denied infidelity allegations in the past. Most recently, Williams gushed about her husband during the March 4 episode of her syndicated talk show. “He is my best friend, my lover. He’s all this and he’s all that,” she said, adding: “I’m still very much in love with my husband. … Anybody who has been married for five minutes or 500 years, you know marriages have ebbs and flows. Marriages are not easy. And don’t ask me about mine until you see [my wedding ring] gone — it ain’t going anywhere, not in this lifetime.” Ironically, however, Williams actually was spotted leaving her sober living facility yesterday with this ring on her finger. Wendy has never really denied rumors of Hunter’s affair. “You can believe what you want, but… I stand by my guy. We commuted this morning,” she told her audience in September , for example. “All is well in Hunterville. Don’t believe the hype and if there was hype, believe me you – I would let you know.” Again, this wasn’t really a denial; it was just an assurance that she’s staying in her marriage. It was also something she said many months ago, prior to the pregnancy chatter and prior to this new baby. A source close to Williams tells Entertainment Tonight that her current struggles are because “she’s melting down over her husband having a mistress.” The source goes on to allege that it was hunter who put her in the sober living facility in Queens, New York because “he wanted Wendy out of the way when the baby arrived.” Jeepers, huh? That’s nuts. And it’s awful. Earlier this year, Williams took about a two-month hiatus from her show reportedly for health reasons. Her return was delayed a number of times, but her family said in a statement in January that she was “taking a necessary, extended break from her show to focus on her personal and physical well-being.” Could this break have also been related to Hunter? We’d have to imagine so. And we therefore must reiterate one more time: Poor, poor Wendy Williams. Tragedies often fade away over a certain period of time, until another disaster sadly takes their place. But for the survivors, the pain will never disappear. On Saturday night, a sophomore at the Florida high school where 17 people were killed in a mass shooting last year took his own life, according to Coral Springs police. It was the second suicide in a span of one week involving a student survivor at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. A week prior, a former student who lost her best friend in the massacre took her own life and one day following her funeral, this male student, who is still unnamed, killed himself. “Now is the time for the Florida legislature to help,” said Jared Moskowitz, Florida’s emergency management director and a former state representative from Parkland. “Mental health is a bipartisan issue,” he posted to Twitter. Officers in the nearby area responded this past Saturday night to the suicide scene of a minor, Officer Tyler Reik confirmed the death on Sunday and said it is still under investigation. Ryan Petty, who lost his daughter Alaina during the shooting on February 14, 2018, said the child who took his life was s a 17-year-old boy. Mr. Petty acknowledged the death on Twitter saying “17 + 2” with an emoji of a broken heart. “What we feared could happen is happening,” he later said in an interview. In his late daughter’s memory, he created a foundation last May which raised awareness on suicide prevention, according to The New York Times. A recent graduate named Sydney Aiello, 19, took her own life last weekend, as reported by her mother Cara Aiello. Ms. Aeillo told the local CBS news station that her daughter had received a diagnosis of post-traumatic stress disorder and that she also suffered from survivor’s guilt after the shooting, in which one of her best friends, Meadow Pollack, had died. News of Sydney’s death spread quickly and sparked grief once again in the Parkland community. Her passing had drawn tens of thousands of dollars to a web page for donations for the young woman’s funeral and memorial service. But more importantly, it started a discussion about preventing suicide by offering long-term resources to students and all young people who have had to deal with trauma and loss. March 23 marked the anniversary of the March For Our Lives rally against gun violence. I think we all remember the powerful march that many of Parkland’s passionate students organized following the aftermath of the shooting to speak out about gun violence. Public officials met on Sunday to discuss a plan to assist children and families following the suicides. In the meantime, the community has identified several locations to offer therapeutic services. “It’s important that the community knows right now how to triage this – to make sure they’re checking in with their kids, checking in with their family members,” said Mayor Christine Hunschofosky. “It’s important, if people have firearms at home, that they’re locked up and secured, so no one who shouldn’t have access to them is able to gain access to them.” Dr. Kelly Posner Gerstenhaber, a psychiatry professor at Columbia University has developed a list of questions that anyone can ask to identify people who may be at risk of suicide. She explains that suicide is preventable but it requires ending the stigma surrounding depression and other mental illness, not waiting for people who are hurt to speak out on their own. “They don’t necessarily have the will to come and ask for help,” Dr. Posner said. “We should be asking these questions the way we monitor blood pressure.” The high school brought in counselors and therapy dogs for Stoneman Douglas students immediately after the shooting last year. At the start of the 2018-2019 school year last fall, the school district also opened a “resiliency center” at a park, with counselors and support groups for suffering families. That center is open this week, even though the school is now on spring break. The community has come together, as we all have seen from TV broadcasts, political rallies and documentaries, however, it is still facing an extremely turbulent time. Public officials are being held accountable for missing the signals displayed by the gunman prior to the attack, who is still awaiting a trial for capital murder. Just last week, the school district placed the principal of the school under investigation, as well as school board members and even the school’s superintendent, Robert W. Runcie, had to fight to keep his job. “There’s a lot of good going on in our community. But we cannot ignore what else is happening,” said Mayor Hunschofsky. The emotional trauma these students and family members have faced will last for decades. Columbine High and Newton’s Sandy Hook massacre are all, unfortunately, lead examples of how survivors fight to overcome their attacks. Newton also set up a resiliency center shortly after the shooting as a place for therapy and for people to gather to talk. “There’s mixed feelings throughout the town,” Stephanie Clinque, the center’s executive director, said. “Grief is complicated. It’s very sad for the family, the children, the entire community. We’re letting people know it’s ok to have those feelings.” A Columbine High massacre survivor Heather Martin was not physically injured but said it took several years to overcome the shooting.
