The social media service celebrates a birthday today, and a look at various celebrities’ first-ever Tweets prove how far we’ve come. Miley Cyrus isn’t topless. Justin Bieber isn’t telling his fans how no one can break their spirit. And Oprah Winfrey? Okay, she’s still pretty charming and classy. But in honor of Twitter turning the calendar on another year of life, we flash back below to 2006 and relive the initial online messages sent by Cyrus, Bieber, Lady Gaga and many other superstars. Mick Jagger is slamming rumors that he and longtime love L’Wren Scott broke up shortly before the fashion designer tragically took her own life this week. The rocker’s rep was quick to refute this, calling “the story in the New York Post re a split between Mick Jagger and L’Wren Scott is 100 percent untrue.” In the wake of the death of L’Wren Scott , “There is absolutely no basis to this … horrible and inaccurate piece of gossip during this very tragic time for Mick.” Rumors aside, Jagger is taking time to mourn Scott, 47. The Rolling Stones frontman, 70, canceled a Wednesday Rolling Stones concert in Perth, Australia. Demi Lovato is clean, sober – and has never been happier. The singer celebrated a milestone over the weekend, Tweeting that she has been off drugs and alcohol now for two years. “Today is my 2nd birthday. I’m 21 years old, but 2 years ago today, I finally started living…I’m so beyond grateful #ItWorksIfYouWorkIt,” Lovato wrote, adding: “Why not celebrate with some new piercings? 4 in one sitting.” Why not indeed?!? Here is a close-up of Lovato’s new holes, posed alongside her new, very short haircut: Lovato has been admirably outspoken about her views and experiences. Late last week, she tore into Lady Gaga for glorying eating disorders after that singer vomited on stage. Kate Major is sitting in jail after her recent arrest, having been denied bail in a Florida courtroom on Friday morning and ordered held until at least Tuesday. Michael Lohan-Kate Major 911 Call Michael Lohan’s baby mama was locked up Thursday night after he called 911 following the duo’s latest blowout fight. Cops arrested Kate Major for DUI . That was for trying to flee the scene of an already ugly altercation. Major also reportedly faces criminal charges of battery and a violating her probation. On the recording of the 911 call, MiLo says that Major was “completely bombed” and “she’s driving drunk right now and she’s going to a liquor store.” That’s never a good sign. Lindsay Lohan ‘s ex-assistant Major, 32, is being held at Palm Beach County jail pending her next hearing, her attorney Michelle Suskauer told Radar . Pushing their son Landon in a stroller (yes, they have a kid), LiLo’s father was in the courtroom watching his fiancée’s appearance before the judge. On the 911 call, Lohan said Major threatened him and “ said she’ll stab me ,” but conceded that she did not have a knife or a weapon in her hands. Blame Beyonce ? Skin Bleaching Cream Linked To Skin Cancer And Infertility Medical experts have have warned Nigerians on the dangers of using bleaching products . Via Vanguard reports: Dr Akinlolu Siyanbola, a dermatologist at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology Hospital, Osogbo, and Dr Abimbola Ibrahim in their separate interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo, maintained that consistent usage of bleaching products over a long period could lead to kidney failure, cancer and infertility. According to Dr Siyanbola, consistent usage of bleaching products over a long period could make the kidney to fail, and could cause diabetes. He explained that bleaching products could also cause osteoporosis (loss of bone density), psychiatric manifestation and systemic hypertension among other ailments. The dermatologist said that bleaching products contain chemical agents that reduce the activities of the natural cell which protects the skin from the adverse effects of sunlight. The agents, he said, change the skin to occhronus manifested in different colours of the body. In his reaction, Dr Abimbola Ibrahim, disclosed that people who use bleaching products may end up being infertile. Ibrahim said products lighten the skin and cause it to lose its natural protective barrier, making it to be vulnerable. The medical expert added that infection spreads faster and broader, thus leading to skin cancer. The Nigerian Public Health Department also sent this warning about the skin bleaching product: It was only a matter of time that the reviews of the controversial cream “Whitenicious” would be made available to the public. Whitenicious was released by Cameroun personality, Dencia , this past January, and has received a lot of speculations that it may lead to skin cancer. Users of Whitencious who shared and documented their results took to http://www.skincaretalk.com to voice complaints about the cream causing headaches, pimples and unwanted facial hair. Unwanted facial hair and headaches are well known side effects of topical steroid use. The damaging prolong effects of steroid use on human skin has been well documented by credible medical research agencies to include Harvard Medical School. Topical steroid crèmes are predominantly prescribed by dermatologists for the treatment of rash, eczema, and dermatitis. It is observed that one of the side-effects of steroid use is skin-lightening. However individual who abuse it simply for this purpose fail to understand that the lightening effect is temporary, as the user will eventually revert to their natural complexion after a few months of usage. The temporay skin lightening effect is as a result of vasoconstriction, that is, basically restricting blood flow to the vital organs. Prolong topical steroid has many well known adverse side-effects to include renal (kidney) failure and susceptibility to melanoma, which is the most dangerous form of cancer. Members of skincaretalk have voiced that they will be conducting an independent laboratory test to verify if the cream does in fact contain steroids and any other banned harmful substances. NAFDAC has issued similar bans in the past and has had great success in implementing it. Individuals caught smuggling items that are banned by NAFDAC have been known to face huge penalties in the form of hefty fines. It is clearly evident that Dencia herself did not use Whitencious to transform from her original dark chocolate complexion to her now pale white skin. Speculations are that she is receiving weekly glutathione injections to suppress the melanin formation in her body. It is reported that there are a number of glutathione clinics in Lagos, Nigeria as well as in other countries. Let us just hope that Dencia has not compromised the health of her customers by knowingly including harmful substances that can cause cancer and other serious ailments. It is in everyone’s innate nature to succeed and become a success story. However at what cost? Love the skin you’re in !!!

David Brenner Dies; Comedian, Tonight Show Staple Was 78

Comedian David Brenner, a comedian and regular on The Tonight Show, has died after a battle with cancer, a family spokesman said. He was 78. Brenner was a staple on Johnny Carson’s late-night TV show, appearing 158 times (more than any other guest) according to a bio on his official site. He also helped write, produce and direct 115 TV documentaries, earning him nearly 30 awards, and was the author of five books over the years. Even in death, Brenner kept the jokes coming – a tough feat. His final request, according to spokesman Jeff Abraham, was to have $100 in small bills tucked in his sock, “just in case tipping is recommended where I’m going.” His grave site will also read: “If this is supposed to be a joke … then I don’t get it!” That’s pretty great. Comedian Joan Rivers, a longtime friend, Tweeted: “RIP David Brenner. I adored him, and laughed more with him than anybody. Sad, sad, sad.
