The fashion beauty had no experience in fashion, but that didn’t stop her from becoming the entrepreneur that all your faves go to for fly footwear. Back in 2018, Jessica told the Daily Mail , “I always wore heels, never flats or gym shoes. Little did I know I would be designing them one day. I started the Transparent by JESSICA RICH line because I was so tired of wearing the same color shoes over and over.” View this post on Instagram Grammy weekend in the So Lavish // Shop now ladies and use code IMRICH at checkout A post shared by JESSICA RICH (@jessicarichcollection) on Feb 10, 2019 at 11:37am PST “PVC shoes had just started coming out but there weren’t a lot of options, so I simply started creating what I wasn’t seeing. I have always been totally obsessed with that iconic shoe silhouette, but I had never seen it made in a clear material.” As we all know, the clear stiletto heel was one of the biggest style waves of the past five years. Everyone from the Kardashians to Jennifer Lopez have been spotted out in the popular shoes, designed by Ms. Rich herself. J. Meghan Markle Addresses Cyber-Bullying: I Can’t Even Look at Twitter!

Sadly, in 2019, just about all of us have some experience with being insulted by a stranger online. Of course, public figures are more visible, and thus, they receive even more abuse on social media than the rest of us. And sadly, there are certain celebrities who get singled out for the kind of treatment that crosses the line between bullying and harassment. Meghan Markle is one of those celebrities. In the months since she married Prince Harry, the Duchess of Sussex has become the focus of a targeted online harassment campaign. In recent weeks, the racist attacks on Meghan have become so severe that palace officials have been forced to investigate. Fortunately, Meghan entirely steers clear of the racist cesspool that is Twitter, so at least she’s not personally exposed to the bigotry and bitterness. The duchess reminded us all of the importance of being selective about your media consumption when she participated in a panel discussion for International Women’s Day at King’s College in London. “My personal decision is to not to feed into negativity and be more cause-driven, action-based,” Meghan said. “For me it’s a tricky one, because I’m not part of any of that. I don’t look at it. Sorry, no. For me that is my personal preference. But I do read The Economist .“ The panel was hosted by Anne McElvoy, senior editor for The Economist , so Meghan wasn’t just boasting about her high-minded reading material. Meghan added that she seeks out “journalism that’s really covering things that are going to make an impact, which we talked about backstage. We were talking about Tanzania and the article The Economist just did. “Things like that, that are really talking about how the role of women is really shifting and changing,” Meghan added. “That’s key. Focus your energy there and not on the stuff that is perhaps muddling you.” So the good news is, Meghan isn’t personally exposed to the daily tidal wave of online hate targeted at her. The bad news is, it’s still going on — and it’s very dangerous. “The Royal Family is forced to be monitoring their social media feeds 24/7 because of all of the racist hate that Meghan has been receiving,” says a source close to the situation. “It has become a great problem.” It’s important to remember that each of us can play a role in correcting this insidious problem. And by refusing to go down certain online rabbit holes, we can become less “muddled” ourselves. View Slideshow: Meghan Markle: 19 Cruelest Things Her Own Family Has Said About the Duchess

Lotte van der Zee, Miss Teen Universe, Dead at 19

A former Miss Teen Universe has tragically passed away at the young age of 19. Model Lotte van der Zee, from Holland, was on a family ski trip when she suffered a fatal heart attack .  Her parents, Bert van der Zee and Eugeniek van het Hul shared the devastating news through their daughter’s Instagram account. “Our pearl, our everything passed away on Wednesday evening March 6th at 22:47,” they captioned the post.  “It is incredibly surreal that our dearly beloved Lotte is not around us anymore. Our hearts are truly broken.” The Dutch model passed away a day before her 20th birthday, according to E! News. During the family trip to Austria, her parents spoke with a Dutch newspaper where they reported that “Lotte started to feel unwell throughout the course of the afternoon.” They said their daughter had been out with friends the night before her heart attack but that she had returned “cheerfully and without health complaints.” But she did not show up for breakfast the next morning and when her parents went to check on her, they found her sick in bed. They wrote on Lotte’s Instagram account that her sickness “swiftly escalated in sudden cardiac arrest” later that day. She was resuscitated by her mother and rushed to a nearby hospital before being placed into a coma where she was kept asleep under intensive supervision by the doctors in order to monitor her health.  The young model was then transferred to a special hospital in Munich, Germany where she began suffering organ failure, according to reports. Since their daughter’s unexpected passing, her parents have received an incredible amount of messages.  “We would like to thank you all again for all the support and heartwarming messages.” The 19-year-old won the Miss Teenager Universe title back in 2017. The pageant’s social media account sent their sympathy, writing, “Losing someone we loved is not easy, but knowing that we have been able to be part of her life, it has been [an] amazing journey,” they wrote. “Our deepest condolences to your family and friends.” Her family told the newspaper that tests are still being carried out to determine what exactly caused her heart attack. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Lotte’s family and friends at this time.  View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Janice Freeman, Popular Voice Contestant, Dead at 33

Tragic news today out of the music and television world: Janice Freeman, a beloved contestant on The Voice in 2017, died on Saturday evening of complications related to a blood clot. She was 33 years old. According to TMZ, who spoke to the singer’s family, Freeman was at home in West Covina with her husband, Dion, when she began to have trouble beathing. Dion reportedly called 911 and had to perform CPR on his wife until paramedics arrived. Janice was then pronounced dead around 5:30 p.m. at a local hospital. “We are heartbroken to report that Janice Marie Freeman passed away on March 2, 2019 from an extreme case of pneumonia,” Freeman’s rep told E! News and other outlets. Continues this statement: “She was a survivor and fighter, and a beautiful force in this world. Janice gained notoriety through her success on NBC’s The Voice as a member of Miley Cyrus’s team. “Her story inspired fans nationwide, having successfully battled cervical cancer and living her life to the fullest while fighting lupus.” Freeman also overcame cervical cancer and meningitis, but this blood clot allegedly traveled to her lungs and there was nothing that could be done to save her. The artist advanced all the way to the final 11 on Season 13 of The Voice. She was a member of Team Miley Cyrus and stayed in close touch with the superstar, actually sharing an emotional thank you video dedicated to Cyrus after the celebrity assisted Freeman and her loved ones when they were searching for a place to live last year. “Thank you ALL but she found us placement until we found permanent housing, gave me the deposit, covered me for 6 months so I can get on my feet!” Freeman tweeted at the time, adding: “@MileyCyrus you are one of my closest friends and what you did for me and my family Im praying GOD gives you the desire of your heart!” Wrote Miley as a caption to the photo below, upon learning of Freeman’s death: Thank you @janicefreeman.. for everything. This represents you perfectly.” She’s referring, as you can see here, to the picture of a rainbow. Concludes the statement from Freeman’s rep: “Her friends and family greatly appreciate your prayers, call, and texts during this time, and ask that they be given space to remember everything that Janice was to them as they process and mourn her loss. “She is survived by her husband Dion, daughter Hannah, her mother Janice, brothers and sisters , and many extended family.” In response to this awful piece of news, Jennifer Hudson also commented on Instagram. “@janicefreeman the voice of hers we got to hear and the bit of life we got to watch her live was a blessing and inspiration to us all!” the Oscar winner wrote. “My heart and prayers go out to @janicefreeman daughter and family ! @mileycyrus @nbcthevoice #ripjanicefreeman” Just a few weeks ago, meanwhile, Freeman shared her own heartfelt message on Instagram. This is what she wrote: “I want to give ALL praises to THE FATHER for this healing process! It has been a difficult, trying, discouraging, mentally draining, etc last 3 months I have had to deal with in a very long time! “But God is FAITHFUL and HE is healing my body and I’m starting to see a little clearly again!… I’m so grateful and overwhelmed because HE loves me so in spite of me deserving it or not.” This is so awful. May Janice Freeman rest in peace. We’ll update this story if we learn any new information about what transpired. And we send our condolences to Freeman’s friends and loved ones. Katherine Helmond, Beloved Who’s the Boss Star, Dies at 89

Katherine Helmond, a Tony Award-winning actress likely best known for her hilarious role on the sitcom Who’s the Boss, died on February 23 from Alzheimer’s Disease complications. She was 89 years old. According to various outlets, Helmond passed away at her home in Los Angeles. A veteran of the acting industry, Helmond all starred as Jessica Tate on another popular ABC comedy, Soap; along with portraying Doris Sherman – the widowed owner of the fictional NFL team the Orlando Breakers – on ABC’s Coach. Perhaps you also recognize her as Lois Whelan, the upper-class mother of Patricia Heaton’s character on Everybody Loves Raymond. But it was the role of Mona that truly made Helmond into a television star. For all eight seasons of this program, she delightfully played the man-crazy mother of Judith Light’s Angela. Her turn as Mona earned Helmond two more Emmy nominations and a Golden Globe win in 1989; overall, the actress garnered seven Emmy nods for her work. On the big screen, Helmond appeared in a trio of Terry Gilliam movies: 1. She played the seafaring cannibal Mrs. Ogre in Time Bandits (1981). 2. She played Jonathan Pryce’s rich, cosmetic surgery-addicted mother in Brazil. 3. She played a hotel clerk in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998). Moreover, Helmond provided the voice of Lizzie, a 1923 Ford Model T, in the three Cars movies. In a revealing 2008 interview with the Archive of American Television, Helmond explained why she made the switch from drama to comedy, saying at the time: “I was married to drunks, I got knocked around and battered and beaten and taken advantage of. “That’s one of the reasons I got switched to comedic roles. My agent said, ‘I just can’t bear to see you knocked around on television any more… We’re going to try for a sitcom.” And it obviouly turned out very well for Helmond that she did. Katherine Helmond is pictured here in a scene with Tony Danza on Who’s the Boss. In addition to her long career on the small screen, Helmond was a veteran of the stage. In 1973, she scored a Tony Award nomination for her work in Eugene O’Neill’s play The Great God Brown. “I felt I blossomed as a person when I got a chance to act,” Helmond once said. “Through all the many years now, I’ve never fallen out of love. It’s been like an incredible marriage that really worked. I enjoyed every minute of it.” Katherine Helmond is survived by her husband of 57 years. May she rest in peace. UPDATE : This is from Alyssa Milano, who played Helmond’s granddaughter on Who’s the Boss: My beautiful, kind, funny, gracious, compassionate, rock. You were an instrumental part of my life. You taught me to hold my head above the marsh! You taught me to do anything for a laugh! What an example you were! View Slideshow: Celebrities Who Died in 2019: In Memoriam

Amber Portwood: I Hate Jenelle Evans & Famous Guys Want to Bang Me!

Amber Portwood appeared on Kailyn Lowry’s Coffee Convos podcast this week, and folks — what a convo it was. If you’re a fan of the franchise, then you’re probably aware that Amber lives her life in a constant state of seething rage. Portwood has served time for assault , and you might think that would be enough to convince her to get her temper in check. But Amber doesn’t seem to have much concern for consequences. And as a result, her convo with Kail was quite a doozy. Naturally, Portwood’s feud with Jenelle Evans was a major topic of conversation, but the interview was fascinating for reasons that went beyond Amber’s rage. In short, Amber Portwood might be the single most delusional person working in reality television today, which is really saying something. Things got off to a rollicking start when Amber revealed that she was driven to rage by the sight of Jenelle burning the haircare products that Kail had sent her as a peace offering. “I was seeing all the stuff she’s saying about you [Kail] and burning your stuff,” Portwood began. “I went after her, I couldn’t understand in my mind how certain things transpired…it just really hit something with me. “I wasn’t really trying to attack her…even though I did attack her.” Amber Portwood Goes Off on David Eason Amber is referring to the video above, in which she absolutely went off on Jenelle. Asked about David Eason’s obvious psychosis, Amber had this to say: “I think they just want attention…I think when David does certain things he can get pretty crazy,” she said. “I just think if he changed maybe drinking habits or something, he could probably calm down a little bit.” Portwood went on to reveal that the final message she sent Jenelle before being blocked was “really sweet” … but it was too little, too late. From there, Portwood went on to talk about all the celebrities who tried to woo her following her breakup from Matt Baier. Seriously. “I had already had a few [guys] trying to do that,” Amber said. “Once you get single on the show…it’s like…there were some A-listers flashing money [trying to hit me up]…I’m not going to say their names, but I thought it was kind of corny and ignorant. You know who you are, I just thought it was really corny.” She went on to spill the tea about the early days of her relationship with Andrew Glennon. “With Matt, it took six months to meet him. I feel like when someone’s in the industry I’m more comfortable with meeting them because hopefully, they’re not psychotic,” Amber said of Andrew. “I was comfortable and we hit it off.” Yes, Amber Portwood — the ex-con reality star who resides in rural Indiana — really played the “I can’t date anyone who’s not in the industry” card. Amber went to say that she would marry Glennon “in a heartbeat” — if he asked. From there, things really got ridiculous, as Amber bemoaned the fact that she has yet to receive an Emmy — for her work on Teen Mom OG. “The Teen Mom franchise, in general, we should have Emmys,” Amber said. “We should be recognized more for what we have done. I think the focus on the negativity is ridiculous. I think there should be a little more focus on the good things we have done. I think with the ‘Teen Mom’ franchise, they should look at us a bit differently. “We’ve been through things in our lives that real people have went through. They need to look at it that way, instead of just drama, drama, drama.” She added: “I demand that respect after doing this for such a long time, as any of us should,” Pro tip: People who are widely respected spend about 0 percent of their time pounding their fists on the table and demanding respect. It’s just not the way the world works. You’re not gonna learn a whole lot about the best way to live your life by observing Amber Portwood or Jenelle Evans. But there’s at least one important lesson you can learn from their example: If you find yourself in a position where you constantly feel the need to voice your demand for respect, you’re doing something wrong.
