Jussie Smollett has gone from victim to pariah. On Thursday morning, the Empire actor was arrested and charged with falsifying a police report; the felony could land Smollett in prison for up to three years. Police have subsequently released his mug shot. Before we get into the damning accusations leveled at Smollett during a press conference held by Chicago Police Superintendent. Eddie Johnson today, a quick rehashing of how we got here: Smollett claimed to authorities on January 29 that he was assaulted by two white men around 2 a.m. on the streets of Chicago. He said they yelled racial and homophobic slurs at him; screamed that he was in “MAGA country;” tied a rope around his neck; and poured bleah all over him. The story made national headlines and was commented on by President Trump, Democratic candidates for President in 2020 and, of course, many celebrities from across Hollywood. HOWEVER… … about two weeks after the allegations were made, a pair of brothers from Nigeria were arrested by the police. We quickly learned that these siblings worked as Smollett’s personal trainers and also as extras on Empire. Questions were raised about whether Smollett staged the assault with these men, although the motive why was never made clear. But Johnson addressed both the supposed motive and other aspects of the investigation/arrest in his press conference this morning. We’ve posted his quotes below in bold. Empire Star Under Investigation [UPDATED] First, Johnson said he understands why this incident garnered such attention, but made an important general point at the outset of the media gathering: Before I get started I look out into the crowd, I just wish that the families of gun violence in this city got this much attention because that’s who really deserves the amount of attention that we are giving to this particular in distinct. Johnson then went hard after Smollett for the way he exploited the legitimate problem of racism and homophobia for his own selfish purposes. This announcement today recognizes that empire actor Jussie Smollett took advantage of the pain and anger of racism to promote his career. I’m left hanging my head and asking why. He added: Why would anyone — especially an African-American man — use the symbolism of a noose to make false accusations? How could someone look at the hatred and suffering associated with that symbol and see an opportunity to manipulate that symbol to further his own public profile? Johnson said Smollett was reportedly unsatisfied with his salary on Empire and paid $3,500 to the aforementioned siblings to stage the attack on himself. A week prior to the fake beating, Smollett received a threatening letter (below), which Johnson said the star sent to himself, referring to this as a false letter that relied on racial, homophobic and political language and adding: This publicity stunt was a scar that Chicago didn’t earn and certainly didn’t deserve. The phony assault took place on the street, as Smollett claimed all along. The two men, who were wearing gloves, punched Smollett “a little bit,” Superintendent Johnson said. However, the scratches and bruises on his face were likely self-inflicted, he continued. Addressing concerns that this incident was given extra attention due to a celebrity being at the center of it, Johnson took extreme umbrage. Any time a hate crime is reported in the city of Chicago, it gets the same attention. This didn’t get any special attention… We give every hate crime in this city the same amount of vigor because there is no place for hatred in this city. No personnel nor any resources were pulled from homicide or shooting investigations to help with the Smollett case. Based on phone records, Smollett talked to the Nigerian brothers about an hour before the staged attack. When we discovered the actual motive, quite frankly, it pissed everybody off because we have to invest valuable resources. Johnson said he hasn’t seen Smollett’s full interview with Robin Roberts on Good Morning America, but he’s viewed snippets and is well aware of the case Jussie tried to make on his own behalf. To be quite honest, it’s shameful because it painted this city that we all love and work hard in in a negative connotation. Nothing, but… Absolute justice would be an apology to this city that he smeared, admitting what he did and then be man enough to offer what he should offer up in terms of resources put into this. Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has also now issued a statement. It reads as follows: I want to thank all of the Chicago police officers who have worked on this case, and all of the private citizens and business owners who have stepped forward with information and video evidence to help us get to the bottom of what was reported as a hate crime. All across Chicago, in every neighborhood, there are signs in front yards and in windows that read, “Hate Has No Home Here.” It is a sign that expresses our shared values and defines our great city. Chicago’s message to the world is that no matter where you come from, who you love, or how you pray you will always have a home here. Our laws exist to reflect and defend those values, and hate crimes will never be tolerated. A single individual who put their perceived self-interest ahead of these shared principles will never trump Chicago’s collective spirit.

Jussie Smollett is officially in major trouble with the law. About three weeks after the Empire star told police that he was savagely beaten by a pair of Donald Trump-loving racist, Smollett has been made a suspect by this same police force. Over the past several days days, there has been chatter that cops in Chicago believed Smollett orchestrated his own attack and then continually lied to the public and to authorities about what happened. Now, spokesman Anthony Guglielmi has Tweeted the following: Jussie Smollett is now officially classified as a suspect in a criminal investigation by #ChicagoPolice for filing a false police report. Detectives are currently presenting evidence before a Cook County Grand Jury. If Smollett is charged with the felony cited here, he could face up to three years in prison. UPDATE : Guglielmi has now Tweeted the following… Felony criminal charges have been approved by @CookCountySAO against Jussie Smollett for Disorderly Conduct / Filing a False Police Report. Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest. A Cook County Grand Jury handed down the indictment late Wednesday, after grand jurors heard testimonies and evaluated evidence. The details of this case have grown more troubling and bizarre each day. After initially receiving support and sympathy from friends, politicians and celebrities around the world due to his claim that he was a victim of a hate crime, Smollett is now the subject of extreme scorn. He was questioned on Wednesday by prosecutors from the Cook County District Attorney’s Office regarding various details of his assault explanation that simply do not add up. Perhaps more disturbing is this: Two brothers from Nigeria were briefly arrested by the police after surveillance footage depicted them in the area of the alleged beating around the time Smollett said it took place. However, these siblings formerly worked as extra on Empire. They’re pictured below: After speaking to these siblings, however, the cops released them without charging them with any crimes — and they released this statement in the process: “We can confirm that the information received from the individuals questioned by police earlier in the Empire case has in fact shifted the trajectory of the investigation.” It has since been reported that the brothers are cooperating with the police and pointing a finger at Smollett, alleging that he paid them to fake the assault and that they even rehearsed how it would go . TMZ writes that Smollett cut the brothers a check for $3,500, but he wrote “training” in the memo line. There’s also now video evidence of them purchasing supplies for the incident, presumably at the behest of Smollet. Smollett, who is openly gay, said late last month that two assailants taunted him with homophobic slurs around 2 a.m. and screamed that he was in “MAGA country.” He said they punched him, tied a rope around his neck and poured bleach all over him. Brendan McLoughlin’s ex-fiancee, Jackie Bruno, is understandably “mortified” at the news of his sudden marriage to Miranda Lambert. At least, that is what Jackie’s mother, Carol Bruno, tells Us Weekly . “[Jackie] just wants to say that he’s just a lying, cheating, no good piece of garbage,” Carol shares. Just days ago, 90 Day Fiance star Larissa Lima underwent a glow-up , promising a dramatic beauty makeover. At the time, she hid her new face from fans, promising to show it off to followers who “stay tuned.” Now, Larissa has unveiled her triumphant new look! See it for yourself: Larissa Lima shared a series of videos with her fans and followers. “Hello guys!” Larissa's first video begins. “New life, new hair!” she happily proclaims. She's showing off a new, fresher hairstyle that is really working for her. It even looks like her hair, which was always thick, is more full-bodied. It's great. “I love it,” she affirms. Larissa continues on a more personal note, addressing her supporters. “I would like to say that I'm truly thankful,” Larissa begins. She continues: “for having a lot of followers that supported me.” Her followers give her social media clout and even donated to her GoFundMe to help her with expenses. “And,” Larissa concludes, her followers “give me a lot of good advice.” Larissa then shared another video in which she delivered the same message in Portuguese. Larissa's third video features her again, in different lighting. On the screen, the words “Kill that lightee” appear. “I just would like to show you guys that my foundation is still good,” Larissa says under the new lighting. “That light — that light — made up-up all of the brightness,” she accuses. Larissa then winks and blows a kiss at her fans and followers. So now comes the tricky part: what has changed on her face? We have to say that her face looks so similar to her usual self that, at first, we didn't notice much of anything. Larissa has never really had thin lips, and her cheekbones have always been fairly prominent. But we think — and makeup and lighting could definitely be factors here — that her upper lip looks a little fuller these days. Now, maybe we're just assuming because we so recently saw the photo of Larissa staring down a syringe. But maybe she got lip fillers in her upper lip. Did Larissa get more done to her lower lip, or any other fillers? We're not sure. Given the level of transparency that she has been willing to show, we imagine that she'll answer that sooner or later. In the mean time, she's definitely not upgrading her look in order to land a new man, despite what she'd joked in her initial post. Why? Because she already has one. Larissa already has a young, hot boy-toy just a little over a month after her brutal breakup with Colt. She has not revealed his name, but he is of Italian ancestry and he is 26 years old. She says that her new man is not interested in fame and that he's not big on social media in general. (Opposites attract, we suppose) However, Larissa has revealed that at least some of her fans will get to see him. She says that her mystery boy will be at her divorce party at the beginning of March.
Sean Milliken, a former cast member on the long-running reality show, My 600-Lb. Life died on February 17 due to complications from an infection. He was 29 years old. This sad piece of news was confirmed by Sean’s father via an emotional Facebook post. “Sean was admitted into the hospital a couple days prior, because of an infection,” Matt Milliken wrote, adding in further detail: “Sunday he was having problems with his breathing, they were able to resuscitate him and a short time later his heart stopped.” The heartbroken father described his son as a “good man” with a “good heart” in this same message. According to Radar Online, Milliken was living in Texas in an apartment by himself prior to his death. His friend, Ashley Boone, told this celebrity gossip site that Sean would be remembered as a “special” guy,” adding: “He was definitely a loner and kept to himself but once you knew him he opened up and showed his witty side. He was extremely funny, artistic and kind.” Milliken appeared on one episode of My 600-lb Life back in 2016. The episode chronicled how he became bedridden during his senior year of high school after he grew to be over 400 pounds and suffered a debilitating leg injury. At one point, Milliken weighed as much as 900 pounds. The same year he appeared on this reality program, Milliken told People Magazine he was planning on moving to Houston to see if he could qualify for weight loss surgery. It’s unclear at the moment whether he ever followed up on this plan or went under the knife for any type of gastric bypass procedure. “I’m not 100 percent certain this is the right decision to make,” Sean said in a clip from the show, referring to his move. “I am extremely nervous about this trip. It’s going to take anywhere from 30 to 40 hours to drive there. I’m very worried about that. If I fall, we won’t be near the hospital for people to pick me up.” Sean also explained during his brief stint in the spotlight that he started his weight gain as a result of his rough relationship with his father. “It was scary. So I would eat. And suddenly I felt a lot better,” he said. “In that moment, nothing else mattered. … I felt like it was my fault, I felt like my family had fallen apart because of me. “So I kept going to food to deal with those feelings. I would get out of school and my mom would be at work, so I would just come home and go straight to the fridge. I’d eat everything and anything I could get my hands on. I “I started gaining probably 50 pounds. a year, and by the time I was in high school I was over 400 pounds.” Milliken is only the latest former star of My 600-lb Life to pass away. This isn’t really surprising, considering the health problems of those on whom this series chooses to focus. In August of 2018, James “L.B.” Bonner committed suicide .
