The news was announced on the show’s Instagram page on Tuesday night. “Friend to the show and host of Fox’s The Masked Singer and MTV’s Wild n’ Out, @nickcannon will be guest hosting The Wendy Williams Show on Monday, February 4th, Tuesday, February 5th & Wednesday, February 6th. The new hour long episodes will include Wendy’s staple Hot Topics segment, “Ask Wendy,” celebrity interviews and more!” As we previously reported , earlier this month, Williams’ team announced that because of her Graves’ disease and a recent fractured shoulder, the Wendy Williams Show would be postponed for several weeks as she being treated. The last message on her Instagram page, reads: “As Wendy Williams Hunter previously shared, she fractured her shoulder and has been on the mend. Over the past few days, Wendy has experienced complications regarding her Graves’ Disease that will require treatment. Wendy will be under the strict supervision of her physicians, and as part of her care, there will be significant time spent in the hospital.” Get better Wendy! Kevin Barnett, a highly successful stand-up comedian who recently helped create the sitcom Rel, was found dead during a vacation last week in Mexico. He was 32 years old. The cause of Barnett’s death remains unknown at this time, but the tragic piece of news was confirmed via a Tweet from the official account of the Last Podcast Network, on which Barnett co-hosted the weekly series Roundtable of Gentlemen. “Dear Last Podcast family,” opens this sad message, which expounds with the awful details as follows: It’s with a heavy heart we inform you of the passing of Kevin Barnett. The joy he brought to our lives is the greatest gift we have ever received. Remind your friends you love them because you never know when you’ll see them again. We love you KB. We’ll share more details about what happened as they come in. Over the weekend, however, Barnett shared his last-ever social media post: a photo of himself on a sidewalk in Mexico, along with a caption that read: “In mexico. Bought myself a sweater. Been accused of appropriation several times. In my head I just gave a lady some money so I ain’t cold. Either way. Swag heavy. Mixtape comin.” Barnett wrote and contributed to a multitute of television shows and films, including Broad City, The Carmichael Show and The Heartbreak Kid. The sitcom Rel, which he co-created, premiered just a few months ago in September; it stars Get Out actor and comedian Lil Rel Howery and Sinbad. Barnett also had a few movies in the works as well, including one called The Wrong Missy with David Spade. “Our hearts are broken, as are those of everyone at Rel, at the news of Kevin Barnett’s passing. He was an incredibly funny, wildly talented man who had so much more to do and so many more stories to tell,” a rep for Twentieth Century Fox Television and Fox Entertainment said in a statement. It concluded: “We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time.” Comedy Central also paid tribute to Barnett after the awful news broke, writing: “Kevin Barnett was an incredible comedian and writer, contributing to Broad City, the stand-up community and beyond. He’ll be greatly missed.” Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s Chelsea Peretti, meanwhile, Tweeted, “i am so sad.” And Crashing‘s Jamie A. Lee added on Instagram: “A shocking, horrible loss. This is so awful.” “I’m at a loss for words hearing about Kevin Barnett… We went to college together and both moved out to LA to pursue the dream,” actor and comedian King Bach wrote on Twitter, concluding: “Rest in paradise brother.” Then there was The Simpsons and Parks and Recreation producer Mike Scully, who worked on The Carmichael Show and said of Barnett: “Kevin Barnett was a great standup, but I knew him as a smart, funny, talented TV writer and just a really sweet guy who made the insanity of the late nights more fun. “Condolences to his family and friends. Celebrity Big Brother Season 2 got underway on Monday night, and it found 12 celebrities (if you can call most of them that!) entering the house to battle for a cash prize. There was a Real Housewife (Kandi Burruss), Lindsay Lohan’s mother (Dina Lohan), Anthony Scaramucci, and even that loser Ryan Lochte. Yeah, we think it’s fair to say CBS scraped the bottom of the barrel with most of these options, and most viewers will be looking at this edition as a bonus winter season featuring regular houseguests. There wasn’t much in the way of action during this opening installment, but we’ll run down some of the highlights for you. Tamar Braxton and Kandi had some beef before entering the house, and it was evident based on the confessionals that there were still some negative feelings between them. Tamar opted to kill Kandi with kindness by offering to work as a pair with her during the first HOH competition. Whether these two will be able to play nice when the heat is turned up is another story, but time will tell. Olympian Lolo Jones complained in the D.R. that knowing Ryan Lochte would make her an immediate target. It’s not uncommon for Olympians to know each other, but we see where Lolo is coming from. Surely anybody would want anyone associated with Lochte out of the house. He’s a freaking snake. Julie Chen then revealed the first twist of the season: The houseguests would be paired up to become Celebrity Big Brother’s first-ever power pairing to compete for the HOH competition. Ryan was drawn to go first, and he picked Jonathan to work with him. Next, Tamar chose Kandi for her pair. Then we’ve got Joey and Ricky. Lolo and Tom. Dina and Anthony. That left Kato and Natalie wondering about whether they were about to be sent to the block without getting a chance to fight for safety. With that, Julie revealed the two left out of the competition were safe from the block during the first nominations ceremony. The houseguests then worked in their pairs to try and fill up champagne glasses. Ryan and Jonathan had an immediate lead, but by the end, they were neck in neck with Lolo and Tom. In a tense standoff, Ryan and Jonathan won. Their victory was short-lived, however, when Julie announced the pair would be facing off against each other on the next episode. The winner would be the first HOH, and the other would find themselves as the first nominee. Gulp. What are your thoughts on celebrities? Hit the comments. As you’ve likely heard by now, Mike Sorrentino began his prison sentence earlier this week. Back in January of 2018, Sorrentino pled guilty to charges that he had failed to pay taxes on more than $9 million in earnings. Sorrentino was sentenced to eight months behind bars, and today, Radar Online has confirmed that his release date is scheduled for September 13 of this year. Of course, prison release dates are rarely set in stone, particularly when the inmate in question is a celebrity who seems to have truly dedicated himself to rehabilitation and self-improvement in the months prior to his sentence. Federal prison consultant Dan Wise confirms that The Sitch will likely be sprung well ahead of schedule. But that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll be permitted to head straight home: “On such a short sentence of 8 months they will send him to a halfway house for two to three months at the end,” Wise claims . “Because of who he is, he may even get home confinement.” Yes, Mike is likely to serve a shorter sentence largely because he’s famous. That’s not to say that he’s receiving preferential treatment because of his celebrity status (although that could certainly be the case). The reasons why a parole board might prefer to grant Sorrentino an early release have more to do with the fact that celebrities are thought to be risky distractions by prison officials. If anything should happen to Mike, a lot of people who prefer to keep low profiles would suddenly find themselves making national headlines. Add that to the fact that Sorrentino’s sobriety and philanthropic work has been well-documented by MTV camera crews, and it’s not hard to see why Mike might be a prime candidate for early release. All he has to do now is keep is nose clean and serve his time quietly. According to Sorrentino’s wife, Lauren Pesce, that’s exactly what he’s been doing. Pesce tweeted an update to fans from Mike’s account earlier this week: “Mike would like to thank all of his fans worldwide for the unbelievable outpouring of love & support,” she wrote. “We speak everyday & he’s doing great. He’s received thousands of letters, he won’t be able to respond to everyone but wanted to express his gratitude to each and every one of you,” Lauren added. “Thank you from the both of us; it is truly heartwarming to have this support during this time.” Here’s hoping Mike’s time on the inside is as brief and uneventful as possible.
