Aaron Carter: Out of Rehab and 30 Pounds Heavier!

Just when you thought 2017 couldn’t get more eventful for Aaron Carter … Wishful thinking, huh? Throughout this year — specifically these past few months — Aaron has seemed to be on a terrifying downward spiral. So terrifying that when he made an appearance on The Doctors last month, those doctors advised him that if he didn’t go to rehab to get his drug use sorted , he’d die. His problems began (or at least we learned of the severity of his problems) in July, when he was arrested for a DUI and drug possession . He and his then-girlfriend, Madison Parker, had marijuana on them, and he was seen driving erratically, though he did refuse testing at the time of his arrest. After that, he felt the need to defend himself against what he said were false accusations, which resulted in an extremely emotional interview in which he revealed he suffers from an eating disorder and hates his appearance. Then in September, he was visited by police four times in less than two days. The visits were for welfare checks, as people close to Aaron had called in to report that he may be a danger to himself or others . A couple of weeks later, police were called to his home again, and though we never heard many details on that visit, it seems to have been yet another welfare check. Luckily, something seemed to click then for Aaron — after that, he went off to rehab . In a series of tweets he made just before checking in for treatment, he explained that “this year has been crazy and I need some time off from it all.” “Going to get strong,” he wrote, “and deal with my stress conditions and get better.” He said that he’d be gone for “a while,” and that he didn’t plan on returning to social media until 2018 at the earliest. But he’s baaaaaaack! Yep, after just two weeks of treatment, Aaron is back at home. And though that may be a little concerning — two weeks doesn’t sound like nearly long enough to address whatever it was that was troubling him — at least one good thing has come from his short time away. Check out this transformation: For the past few years, Aaron has gotten a whole lot of hate for his appearance . He was very thin, and lots of people speculated that his size was due to drug use. He’s insisted that he’s thin because of a hiatal hernia that makes it difficult to eat, in addition to that eating disorder we already discussed. But now he says he’s gone “from 115 to 145 in just three weeks” because he “needed some time to heal.” He gained 30 pounds in three weeks, and he seems pretty pleased about it! “Thank you to everyone who has continued to believe in me and stick by my side,” he tweeted after sharing the photo. “I will always aim to make you proud but this was for me.” It also looks like he got his appetite back — he shared this photo of himself and asked “What’s for dinner? I’ll make both”: As for his abrupt departure from rehab, his rep made a statement explaining that “Several legal and personal matters arose that required his immediate in person attention.” “He is still very much committed to his wellness and will be continually working toward being the best possible person.” We hope for his sake that that’s the case. After the year he’s had, Aaron Carter sure could use a win. View Slideshow: 25 Celebrities Who Have Been to Rehab

Ralphie May Dies; Comedian Was 45

Ralphie May launched his comedy career after being the first runner-up on Last Comic Standing in 2003. Since then, he’s had endless stand-up specials. Unfortunately, Ralphie May has died at the age of 45. And we have a few details about that. … Ralphie May often joked about his own mortality. During one stand-up special (I want to say that it was Girth of a Nation , but I can’t swear to it), he refers to how surely no one in the audience would be surprised if he fell over dead of a heart attack at that very moment, given the degree of his obesity. In his no-holds-barred stand-up (including titles — again, he had a show titled Girth of a Nation ), he didn’t shy away from referring to his weight. Some of his clothing seemed selected to emphasize his frame rather than, as many might do, minimize it. TMZ reports that Ralphie May has died  of cardiac arrest. After a 6-week battle with pneumonia during which he nonetheless continued to perform his shows in Vegas, Ralphie died of cardiac arrest. He was in a private residence in Vegas, and that is reportedly where someone discovered his body. After 10 years of marriage, Ralphie and his wife and fellow stand-up artist Lahna Turner had gotten a divorce … which quickly became an ugly custody battle. Back in October of 2015, Lahna Turner filed divorce documents, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple has a 10-year-old daughter and an 8-year-old son, and the fight over custody has continued even in 2017. Earlier this year, Ralphie May — who has never been shy about his fondness for marijuana — even agreed to random drug tests in order to be allowed to have visitations with his children. He was granted two visitations a week (which were to be supervised) and an additional Skype call. Ralphie will be remembered for more than just his comedy career. (Though we expect Netflix views of his shows to go up over the weekend) In late June of 2016, TMZ reported that Ralphie May had saved a baby’s life . In an airport, the baby was choking and the mother cried out for help. One person tried but failed to help, and then Robbie successfully performed the Heimlich maneuver and restored the baby’s ability to breathe. It’s not really a surprise that he learned it — custody battle or no, he was a parent, and he’d no doubt learned as so many parents do about how to potentially save their children’s lives. Or maybe he’d just picked it up like others do, from television or whatever. It’s easy to see celebrities who just do one thing — like comedy — as totally one-dimensional when, in reality, they’re anything but. While Ralphie May joked about his mortality and would doubtless joke about his own demise if he could, this is definitely sad news. He had a tremendous talent for making people laugh and bringing people joy. We can only imagine how much his chidlren will miss him, because even those who were merely his fans are already in mourning. Rest in peace, Ralphie. Harvey Weinstein Quotes Jay Z, Threatens NRA in Bizarre, Rambling "Apology"

Well… this is one way to deal with sexual harassment allegations. On Thursday afternoon, The New York Times published a bombshell article in which it quoted multiple women who claimed Harvey Weinstein took advantage of them in various inappropriate ways. According to this report, the veteran film producer has settled eight separate sexual misconduct claims over the years. Ashley Judd is among the women who have issued complaints against Weinstein. She’s now on record as saying Weinstein answered his hotel room door in 1997, while Judd was shooting the movie Kiss the Girls, and asked if he could either massage her or if she would watch him take a shower. We know, right? EWWWWW . In response to this multitude of claims against him, Weinstein basically acknowledged his many decades’ worth of lewd behavior. “I appreciate the way I’ve behaved with colleagues in the past has caused a lot of pain, and I sincerely apologize for it,” he said, adding at the time: “Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go.” Fair enough, we guess. What else could he really say in the face of these allegations? We now have the answer. In a follow-up statement, clearly written without the help of a publicist, Weinstein opened by blaming the era in which he started his career for how he acted toward the opposite sex. “I came of age in the 60’s and 70’s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different. That was the culture then,” the producer said. “I have since learned it’s not an excuse, in the office – or out of it. To anyone.” Okay, fine.  If Weinstein had stopped there, we wouldn’t even be writing this right now. But he didn’t stop there. “Though I’m trying to do better, I know I have a long way to go. That is my commitment,” he added. “My journey now will be to learn about myself and conquer my demons. Over the last year I’ve asked Lisa Bloom to tutor me and she’s put together a team of people. “I’ve brought on therapists and I plan to take a leave of absence from my company and to deal with this issue head on. I so respect all women and regret what happened.” For the record, Lisa Bloom is a lawyer who specializes in representing celebrities seeking some kind of payday. She sat alongside Blac Chyna this summer, for example, during her revenge porn case against Rob Kardashian . It’s unclear how she has been acting as a “tutor” to Weinstein. Weinstein then wrote this: Jay Z wrote in 4:44 “I’m not the man I thought I was and I better be that man for my children.” The same is true for me. I want a second chance in the community but I know I’ve got work to do to earn it. For the record: Jay Z did not rap these words. What he did rap was this: “And if my children knew/I don’t even know what I would do/If they ain’t look at me the same/I would prob’ly die with all the shame.” From there, Weinstein – inspired, we suppose, by this week’s Las Vegas shooting – turned his attention to… the National Rifle Assocation? Yup. “I’ve decided that I’m going to give the NRA my full attention. I hope Wayne LaPierre will enjoy his retirement party. “I’m going to do it at the same place I had my Bar Mitzvah. I’m making a movie about our President, perhaps we can make it a joint retirement party.” Finally, after touting his progressive bona fides in this manner, Weinstein wrapped it up. “One year ago, I began organizing a $5 million foundation to give scholarships to women directors at USC,” he wrote, concluding: “While this might seem coincidental, it has been in the works for a year. It will be named after my mom and I won’t disappoint her.” We’ve got a feeling it’s way too late for that. Mrs. Weinstein is likely quite disappointed in her son already.

Ariana Grande Calls for Gun Control in Wake of Las Vegas Shooting

As documented below, celebrities from all industries have issued statements of shock and sorrow on social media in light of Sunday night’s shooting in Las Vegas . But we feel as though Ariana Grande deserves to be singled out for a moment. Tragically, the young singer is all too familiar with the sort massacre that took place in Nevada over the weekend, as over 20 concert goers were killed in Manchester this spring toward the end of a Grande performance. Clearly (and understandably) VERY shaken by that incident, the artist penned an open letter shortly after the terrorist act that reads as follows: “I am sorry for the pain and fear that you must be feeling and for the trauma that you, too, must be experiencing. “We will never be able to understand why events like this take place because it is not in our nature, which is why we shouldn’t recoil. We will not quit or operate in fear. “We won’t let this divide us. We won’t let hate win.” Sadly, Grande has now been forced to share a similar statement, after a 64-year old named Stephen Paddock opened fire in Las Vegas on fans at a country music festival. At the latest count, Paddock killed 58 people and injured over 500 others. After committing the deadliest mass shooting in American history, he then took his own life. View Slideshow: Las Vegas Shooting: Celebrities React to Terrorist Attack On Monday, Grande responded to this Las Vegas shooting with grief and with emotion, but also with a call for action. “My heart is breaking for Las Vegas,” she tweeted. “We need love, unity, peace, gun control & for people to look at this & call this what it is = terrorism.” Amen, right? Grande’s manager Scooter Braun also penned a lengthy message to his followers, reflecting on the attack in Vegas while referencing his own memories from Manchester. “I don’t really have words this morning. I am deeply saddened. And as horrifying as it is to say I can’t tell you I’m surprised,” he wrote, adding: “Our greatest challenges are ahead of us. What took place in Las Vegas last night should never happen. What took place in Manchester should never happen. What took place in Charlottesville should never happen. “But they are happening. And ALL of them are terrorist attacks.” Concluded Braun: They all strike fear in our ability to live our lives .They all make us question taking our children, our friends our loved ones to public events that are supposed to bring us joy…in fear of devastation. They are all attacks on our way of life and our way of love. So first let me say my heart breaks for all those affected in Las Vegas. Nothing we  do can bring back your loved ones and I am so sorry. For those in the hospital recovering we are with you. Keep fighting. And for all of us..who are we? What will we choose to do in response? Will we just Instagram and move on? Will we think this is about a hashtag with the word #vegas in it? Or will we wait until the next one affects us? THIS One affects us. #LASVEGAS is ALL of us. View Slideshow: Real Housewives Stars React to Las Vegas Shootings We owe them courage. We owe them our faith. We owe them our strength and out spirit to rise up and come together and demand not only better now but better Tomorrow. When I was in Manchester I witnessed something defiant. At the end of the One Manchester show…only 2 weeks after the attack and less than 24 hours since the London attack…when the cameras were off…the crowd of 55,000 brave souls started to sing. The echoed the words ‘Manchester we’re strong, we’re strong, we’re strong. We’ll keep singing our songs, our songs our songs.’ This repeated for 15 minutes as they exited. Defiance in the face of fear. Las Vegas we’re strong. We’re strong. We’re strong. We’ll keep singing our songs…Together. This is an attack on your friends, your family, your kids, your way of life. So as we think about those lost and those hurt this morning …what do you and I owe them? Powerful stuff. We send our thoughts to all affected by this tragedy.

Tom Petty Dies; Rock Legend Was 66 (UPDATED)

On a day already rocked by the tragic mass shooting in Las Vegas , this news is not exactly welcome. But it would have been grim news on any day: Music legend Tom Petty has passed away at 66. Just a short while ago, TMZ reported Tom Petty’s condition, which took a turn for the worse and never recovered. Apparently, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member had been found unconscious in full cardiac arrest Sunday. He was, of course, immediately rushed to the hospital. EMTs were able to get a pulse in his Malibu home, but having a pulse doesn’t mean a recovery is necessarily in order. It probably goes without saying that spending minutes without oxygen pumping to your brain is never good. Even a matter of crucial seconds in such a state can be the difference from making a recovery and not. Unfortunately, despite Petty regaining his pulse and being spirited with all due haste to UCLA Santa Monica Hospital, it just wasn’t enough. TMZ ‘s sources say that he was immediately placed on life support in an effort to stabilize his vital signs. From the moment that hew as found, the Heartbreakers’ frontman’s condition was considered “critical.” Petty’s close friends and loved ones were reportedly upset but unwilling to disclose details about his condition or what may have led to it. To make matters worse, new information about the singer-songwriter’s health came just an hour or so ago. Upon arrival at the hospital, medical professionals determined that Tom Petty had no signs of brain activity. That means brain death, which in all terms save the standard used to declare time of death, meant that he was no longer living. The decision was made at that time to remove Petty from life support, and thus, multiple news outlets are now reporting his passing. Tom is, as we said, a Rock legend. (Honestly, I’ve had his massive hit, “Breakdown,” playing in a loop on my head as I’ve written this – and I wouldn’t even consider Rock to be one of my music genres. That’s the kind of reach that Tom Petty has) A lot of networks are playing his other hits, like “Free Fallin,'” “Mary Jane’s Last Dance,” “I Won’t Back Down” and countless others. Tasteful references to his work seem like a perfect way to honor him, and we expect to hear plenty of them in the coming weeks. Petty rose to fame in the 1970s with his band, the Heartbreakers. The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002. Tom was also a successful solo artist and performed with Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison and George Harrison in the band The Traveling Wilburys. Though Petty and his band debuted their self-titled record in 1976, they continued to perform to packed arenas over the past four decades. He played his last show last Monday, performing three sold-out shows at the Hollywood Bowl to conclude their 40th anniversary tour. The Florida native will undoubtedly down as one of the most successful and beloved singer-songwriters of his or any generation. R.I.P. UPDATE: CBS News is retracting its original report that Petty has passed away. The singer has been removed from life support, but according to a hospital source, he’s currently “clinging to life.” We will continue to monitor the situation and bring you further updates as more information becomes available.
