The sitting President threw shade towards Colin Kaepernick , Marshawn Lynch and other players who have famously taken a knee during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial injustice. “Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now,” Trump said during a speech in Alabama. “Out! He’s fired. He’s fired!’” The president then doubled down on his statements in a series of tweets aimed at players who choose to exercise their freedom of speech during games. In his opinion, players who “disrespect” the flag by taking a knee should be fired. If a player wants the privilege of making millions of dollars in the NFL,or other leagues, he or she should not be allowed to disrespect…. — Donald J. Divisive comments like these demonstrate an unfortunate lack of respect for the NFL, our great game and all of our players, and a failure to understand the overwhelming force for good our clubs and players represent in our communities.” It didn’t stop there. Celebrities like Lebron James , John Legend , Diddy , LL Cool J and J.K. Rowling spoke out against Trump and even encourage the NFL to continue taking a knee. Trump thrives on division and chaos. Kim Kardashian: Will She Be a Judge on American Idol?!

American Idol is coming back, but producers doubtless want to make certain that it doesn’t seem like the same-old show that ended just a few years ago. As it turns out, they may have part of that solution lined up. And it’s bound to be controversial. What would you guys think of Kim Kardashian sitting at the judges’ table? Because apparently that’s something that at least one big name from the show really wants to see. You know in fantasy stories when there’s an ancient evil that used to threaten the kingdom or whatever, but over the centuries people think that it was defeated and eventually people stop being vigilant and, whoops, suddenly it’s back and nobody’s prepared? Well, we forgot to be vigilant, because American Idol is coming back. In real life. Some people, at least, are excited about the revival. Weeks ago, I had friends over and they had the hardest time parking because traffic was at a stand-still as people tried out for American Idol . That makes sense. Think what you will about the show, but even people who don’t win can create massive audiences and become wealthy celebrities thanks to the fame that they accrue. For a lot of people, a huge talent show might be their best shot out of living in poverty or working a dead-end job. But for the show to work, it needs to be entertaining and fresh. It needs to attract a passionate audience and hold their attention. Reportedly, Ryan Seacrest thinks that Kim Kardashian could be the key to doing that. According to Star Magazine , Ryan Seacrest thinks that Kim Kardashian would make the perfect judge. “While producers have been looking at Lionel Richie, Luke Bryan, Ke​ith Urban and other people within the music business, Ryan thinks the show should hire Kim.” We’d mentioned that they were considering Lionel Richie for American Idol . “Promotion and social media are now just as important to being a successful artist as singing, and no one knows that world better than his pal Kim.” A portion of Kim’s fans might start watching just for her, and then get hooked. A number of hate-watchers might also watch just for her … and then get hooked. “People might moan at first that she doesn’t have experience with music but they did the same thing when Heidi Klum joined the panel at  America’s Got Talent .” Heidi Klum isn’t exactly a stranger to talent competitions or reality television … but okay. “At least Kim is from the USA, and she certainly knows how to make great TV.” Say what you will about Kim Kardashian, but she sure is from the US. Hard to argue with that logic. “Ryan is worried that if they just follow the format of the old show, that it will feel dated. Adding Kim will be a game-changer.” Sure, it would be different. We have to wonder if there’s more to this than Ryan Seacrest’s personal affection for the Kardashians. Reportedly, American Idol producers are worried that Katy Perry will bomb after her gig hosting the VMAs didn’t go over well at all. We don’t know how much better Kim would be, though. Between Katy Perry and Kim Kardashian, you have to wonder if maybe they’re trying to attract a lot of people who like famously busty celebrities. There’s one major factor that makes us seriously question whether Ryan Seacrest will get his wish and have Kim as a judge. Kim’s family. With two young children at home and another on the way via surrogate , Kim Kardashian has her hands full. ( Kim doesn’t want to confirm their surrogacy just yet , but she didn’t deny it … and what we’ve heard has come from reliably credible sources) Does Kim really want to be taken away from all of that to be a judge on a talent competition show that might flop? Sure, she’s rich and has nannies, but she’s still a mom and she loves her children. Isn’t part of the whole point of being rich that you don’t have to make those kinds of sacrifices if you don’t want to? Plus, Kim has plenty of money coming in thanks to her new makeup line and plenty of other branding deals. She doesn’t need to take a high-paying job like becoming an American Idol judge. (We guess that Ryan Seacrest wouldn’t rehash his old gripes about how much they pay Katy Perry , since Kim is his friend and this was his idea) Kim doesn’t need that job and we don’t know if she wants it. And we don’t know if American Idol ‘s producers want her . It will probably come down to demographic appeal at the judge’s table more than on actual ability to judge. Like, if they go with Keith Urban, the one who’s a different person than Toby Keith (though have we ever seen the two in the same room at the same time?), they’re probably going for a rural crowd. Katy Perry will doubtless attract a lot of, like, tween girl viewers who look up to her. (We heard someone say: “every  year we all get older but Katy Perry fans stay the same age,” and that really stuck with us) Kim could bring in viewers, sure. But would they be the right viewers? If you pay attention closely and wait, misogyny will eventually reveal itself and sometimes it comes from some of the biggest celebrities. The latest celeb to think it’s okay to reduce women to mere sexual objects is boxing champ Floyd Mayweather, who reportedly agrees with Trump’s controversial “grab ‘em by the p***y” remarks. Source: Eric Jamison / Stringer / Getty It was the leaked audio that many thought would end his presidential campaign, however even after the world heard Trump disgustingly talk about grabbing women by the p***y, he was still elected president. Now almost a year later, Floyd Mayweather has decided to chime in on the remarks and state that “real men” talk just like Trump. Uh, what?! Honestly, it’s not really shocking how Mayweather feels about women, given that he’s had numerous claims and incidents of physical violence against them. Blavity has the further details of Mayweather’s troubling Trump co-sign and more. Via Blavity: In the second part of a lengthy interview with the boxing champion, topics such as Trump’s controversial p*ssy-grabbing comments, protests and immigration were among the quotable moments.   When it came to Trump, Mayweather didn’t seem to necessarily want to use the “friends” label, but did acknowledge that he has “talked with [Trump] on a couple occasions,” and added that he “can call [Trump] directly on his phone.” As for that infamous “grab ’em by the p*ssy” comment during Trump’s campaign? “People don’t like the truth,” Mayweather said, “He speak like a real man spoke. Real men speak like, ‘Man, she had a fat ass. You see her ass? I had to squeeze her ass. I had to grab that fat ass.’ Right? So he talking locker room talk. Locker room talk. ‘I’m the man, you know what I’m saying? You know who I am. Yeah, I grabbed her by the p*ssy. And?’” So, clearly Trump and Mayweather are buddies, which explains the co-sign, but Mayweather didn’t stop there. Chelsea Houska, Other Stars: BUSTED Over Instagram Ads!

The Teen Mom franchise has produced a lot of entertainment. It’s also churned out some reality stars who aren’t such great people. Chelsea Houska is one of the exceptions, though. She loves her children and just generally doesn’t come across as vapid or that much of a hot mess. So … color us surprised that Chelsea Houska’s in trouble. Like, legal trouble. Don’t worry — despite what Teen Mom ‘s editors might show you, Chelsea Houska doesn’t neglect her daughter in favor for her baby. In fact, the alleged violation for which she’s been singled out has nothing to do with being a mom at all. Not directly, anyway. Chelsea Houska was one of 21 recipients of sternly worded letters (anything from the government is stern; it’s hard to “smile” in legalese). From the FTC. And it all has to do with Instagram ads. You know, when a celebrity poses with some kind of weight loss tea or talks about how much they love their new, like, makeup kit while showing the kit and saying the name of the brand? The kind of thing that we’ve seen from a bazillion celebs. It’s what got a bunch of haters to slam Amy Roloff the other day. This isn’t about income disclosure. That would be a letter from the IRS and, frankly, probably a lot scarier. But the Federal Trade Commission has had it up to here with celebrities who don’t “properly disclose” their ads. The FTC argues that merely tagging a brand counts as an endorsement. They’re real sticklers about their rules. Just like how pharmaceutical commercials (here in the US, pretty much the only place on the planet where you’re allowed to advertise prescription drugs) have to list all of the many ways that their drug might somehow harm or kill you … Just like how commercials have to list that the people speaking are paid actors (even if it’s in the fine print that nobody reads) … … Instagram ads are supposed to be tagged plainly. With “#ad.” And apparently a number of stars, including Chelsea Houska and Farrah Abraham, haven’t exactly been doing that. We’d question whether anyone old enough to use Instagram is naive enough to think that those transparent advertisements are just celebrities casually plugging products for fun. Like, if someone talks about liking their favorite soda, maybe they just do that. But an Instagram post about it, mentioning the brand and holding up the label for the photo? You’d think that you’d have to be a fool to not realize that, at the very least, that star has gotten some free stuff out of the deal. In most cases, they’re monetizing it. On the other hand … the world is full of fools and they deserve honesty, too. Instagram ads can be a huge source of money, from a regular Instagram model to Kylie Jenner. Whether it’s a fitness model showing off the protein powder that they almost definitely don’t use to a reality star showing off a corset that almost definitely didn’t make her lose weight, Instagram ads are a huge business. We can understand why the FTC feels the need to clamp down … even if “#ad” looks so tacky in people’s captions. We wonder if maybe the FTC needs to reconsider some of its rulings, though. Sure, it’s a big business — some public personalities pull down six figures a year on Instagram ads alone. (Others are said to pull down six figures per post … mostly just Kylie Jenner) But … are there similar rules in place for product placement on television shows and in films? When someone on television drinks a specific name-brand soda or even walks in front of a sign for a fast food place, that’s not a coincidence. Usually, the company paid for that to happen. “Ad” doesn’t show up anywhere on the screen. Some might argue that featuring something in your social media posts is akin to a film’s product placement rather than being more like a commercial. Technology changes all of the time. Sometimes it takes the law a while to catch up.

Kaitlyn Bristowe: I Wanted to Send Nick Viall Home SOONER!

Kaitlyn Bristowe may have gotten her happily ever after with Shawn Booth after The Bachelorette , but that doesn’t mean that her season went exactly the way that she wanted it to. In fact, Kaitlyn says that there was one thing in particular that she’d never planned on — and that was keeping Nick Viall around as long as she did. There have been no shortage of breakups of Bachelor couples. In many cases, people have found that the person they got to know on reality television isn’t the same when the cameras aren’t rolling. In others, the fact that the cameras were rolling at that they were all on a timetable doesn’t give them time for honest communication before they get engaged. And their celebrity status afterwards makes it hard for their relationship to continue even after the season airs. And, obviously, some couples just drift apart. You can look at the breakup of Lauren Bushnell and Ben Higgins , whose relationship was strangled by a lack of honest communication thanks to the relentless presence of cameras in their lives. (Ben was on Kaitlyn’s season — that will come up in a moment) Then you have breakups like the one between Josh Murray and Amanda Stanton, that involved Josh calling the police . Their split seemed like it would have happened even if they’d just met over Tinder or whatever. But, despite all of the things that can and so often do go wrong in relationships, Kaitlyn Bristowe and Shawn Booth are still together. Not married, but they’re together. So what, in Kaitlyn’s view, went wrong with her season? On her own podcast, titled Off The Vine , Kaitlyn Bristowe revealed that she never intended for Nick Viall to make it to the final two. For some time, Kaitlyn knew that she wanted to be with Shawn Booth. (Clearly, he was the right choice, as they’re still happily together) She had also decided that Ben Higgins would be the last man she sent home. As you remember, Ben came in third, not second, and it was Nick Viall who was Kaitlyn Bristowe’s final breakup. Nick Viall ended up going on and getting engaged to Vanessa Grimaldi (though they of course have broken up). Kaitlyn doesn’t say why things ended up the way that they did, but it’s interesting that her own decisions didn’t quite match up with her own plans. Kaitlyn may have gotten her happy ending, but that doesn’t mean that she’s turned her back on the Bachelor Nation. Recently, when it was finally revealed that Rachel Lindsay had made the controversial choice of settling with Bryan Abasolo, Kaitlyn posted this message to Instagram. “Attention Rachel and [Bryan Abasolo]. Today will be one of the best days of your life. When you can finally be out in the real world hand in hand.” She actually referred to Bryan as “Jerome,” which had been Rachel’s code word for her unnamed fiance. We suspect that Kaitlyn wrote this out in advance. Or maybe she just didn’t want to spoil things for those who hadn’t seen it yet. “I honestly don’t think you need advice because you seem to be on cloud 9 and you’re smart af, but here’s mine for what it’s worth.” Awwww, that is so cute. “Do not listen to outside voices. People will try and bring you down, I’m not sure why…But they do.” We, at least, don’t want to bring down Rachel Lindsay. We don’t understand her choice, but we want her to be happy. “As long as you surround yourselves with people who love you, and remind each other that they come first, you will be ok. You both have our full support. #TheBachelorette” This was from her and from Shawn Booth. Adorable. We’re not sure what lesson to take from this. Kaitlyn isn’t alleging a conspiracy by the Bachelorette producers or anything. It just sounds like she had a hard time letting Nick go before the end. Harder than she’d anticipated. Nick Viall’s been on one Bachelor show or another about a million times (approximately), so he’s clearly good at winning hearts. But … he’s also seemingly done with reality television.
