Spike Lee had himself quite the eventful Sunday night. First, the veteran director won Best Adapted Screenplay at the 2019 Academy Awards for helping to write BlacKKKlansmen. Incredibly, this was Lee’s first-ever Oscars victory and it was most definitely overdue, according to most viewers. But not according to one rather powerful viewer. A few hours after Lee delivered a passionate acceptance speech that touched on American history and slavery, President Donald Trump Tweeted his disapproval of Lee’s words. Let’s take a look at Lee’s full speech before trying to deciper which parts the President took issue with, shall we? Here it is: The word today is “irony.” The date, the 24th. The month, February, which also happens to be the shortest month of the year, which also happens to be Black History month. The year, 2019. The year, 1619. History. Her story. 1619. 2019. 400 years. Four hundred years. Our ancestors were stolen from Mother Africa and bought to Jamestown, Virginia, enslaved. Our ancestors worked the land from can’t see in the morning to can’t see at night. My grandmother, [inaudible], who lived to be 100 years young, who was a Spelman College graduate even though her mother was a slave. According to multiple witnesses, Lee got out of his seat and walked to the back of the auditorium after Green Book won the evening’s top prize, and he later explained why. “I thought it was courtside at the Garden, and the ref made a bad call. Courtside,” the die-hard New York Knicks fan said, prior to pivoting and joking: “The world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden. The movie centers on Dr. Don Shirley (Oscar winner Mahershala Ali), a world-class African-American pianist who embarks on a concert tour of the Deep South in 1962 along with his driver and bodyguard, Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen). The film was co-written by a member of Lip’s family and has come under fire for essentially white-washing history. Dr. Shirley’s brother, Maurice, has called the flick a “symphony of lies.” Moreover, Mortensen used the N-Word while doing press for Green Book and director Pete Farrelly apologized for having exposed himself years ago while on the set of his 1998 romantic comedy There’s Something About Mary.
Now that Khloe Kardashian finally dumped Tristan Thompson , everyone’s wondering exactly how it all went down. Reports say that Jordyn Woods and Tristan Thompson were banging for a while before they got caught. And apparently they had a plan to keep their trysts a secret. Clearly, it didn’t work. People reports that, during their illicit hookups, Jordyn and Tristan had a plan if they got accused of boning each other. That contingency was to … simply deny it. “It seemed she had an agreement with Tristan that they would deny hooking up if they got caught,” the insider reveals. That’s a good start to a plan. That’s not usually enough to keep something an actual secret. But the source says that Jordyn was convinced that “no one would find out.” Whoops. Ultimately, their clever plan to not tell people that they were banging wasn’t enough. “Jordyn was shocked when the family did find out and confronted her,” the insider shares. “Jordyn acted very distraught,” the source notes. Of course. She was practically family. She was BFFs with Kylie for years and had been living in her home. “But the family feels that she is mostly upset that she got caught,” the insider notes. Jordyn may have been distraught, but the actual cheater in the mix apparently felt differently. “Tristan didn’t seem like he cared too much,” the source characterizes. Maybe he’s just good at hiding his emotional pain. Or maybe, as was also reported after his cheating scandal in April 2018, he just feels entitled to cheat and doesn’t see how it’s a big deal. “He seemed to mind the drama,” the insider admits. “But didn’t act like he regretted hooking up with Jordyn.” “He actually denied, too,” the source shares. “And has had no explanation since as to why it happened.” Despite his history, the Kardashians as a whole were apparently hesitant to believe that he had cheated with Jordyn, of all people. “When they first started hearing on Monday that Tristan made out with Jordyn, no one really believed it,” the insider shares. “That Tristan would be inappropriate, yes everyone knows that he can’t behave,” the source says frankly. Sadly, that has been apparent for a while. “But that Jordyn would make out with him,” the insider says. “It first seemed like a made up rumor.” “It wasn’t anything they wanted to drop,” the source says of how the Kardashians viewed those initial reports. “So several family members reached out to people they believed had been at the party,” the insider shares. It’s always interesting to hear about how celebrities confirm what is and is not true. The “bubble” can be powerful — we’ve seen celebrities buy bogus stories and disbelief the truth. Though, really, anyone can do that. But they asked around about Tristan and Jordyn “and they were told it was true.” So how is Khloe grappling with all of this? “She’s very good at compartmentalizing,” the source characterizes. That can be a good thing if you’re a medical examiner. It’s not always good for your real-life relationships. “And at the end of the day,” the insider claims. “She wants True to have a happy relationship with both of her parents.” Some believe that Khloe stuck with Tristan the first time out of a misguided belief that she owed it to True to stay with a cheater. Still, apparently Khloe isn’t plotting against Tristan, as “she’s not one to seek revenge or hold on to negativity.” Can’t relate. “Khloe is doing okay,” the source assesses. “She’s still upset about what happened,” the insider acknowledges. “And talks about it a lot.” “But it really seems she is able to see what everyone else has been seeing for so long,” the source notes. “That she was always too good for Tristan.” According to the insider, “she deserves so much better.” Tristan can find plenty of women who would be happy to be in a relationship with him and even have his child while he gives other women the business. As you’ve probably heard by now, Tristan Thompson was caught cheating on Khloe Kardashian again last week. And this time, Tristan made the situation even worse by hooking up with Jordyn Woods , longtime best friend of Kylie Jenner. By all accounts, Khloe was more or less over her relationship with Tristan long before news of his latest infidelity broke. But the fact that her baby daddy couldn’t keep his hands off a woman that Khloe considers a little sister is something the entire family just can’t get over. “Khloe is still hurt. She still can’t believe that Tristan hooked up with Jordan,” a source close to the situation tells People magazine. “Everyone thinks she will be better off now. Tristan won’t be able to hurt her again,” the source continues. “For him to hook up with Jordan is the ultimate betrayal.” The insider goes on to say that Khloe is focusing on her daughter these days, and while she’s wounded by Tristan’s behavior, she’s also determined to remain strong for the sake of baby True. “It’s always difficult when you realize a relationship that you have worked hard on to keep is completely over,” the source says. “But for Khloé, although it seemed she was always hoping Tristan would change, she has been acting for a while like she has moved on. “She has been living in L.A. alone with True for months. They have their routine and schedule in L.A. that Khloé loves. This will not change for Khloe.” The informant goes on to say that Khloe very much wanted a traditional family with Tristan, but she long ago learned to adapt. “When she was pregnant, she never expected to be a single mom though,” the insider reveals. “Tristan’s behavior has definitely shocked her. Khloe is the nicest, most caring and giving person.” Of course, none of this is to say that Tristan and Jordyn are forgiven for their betrayal. Far from it, in fact, as Khloe has been making her feelings about the situation very clear on social media. “People reveal themselves through their actions,” Kardashian recently wrote on Instagram. “No matter how much a snake sheds skin. It’s still a snake.” Jordyn is said to be devastated by Khloe’s comments — and by the fact that she’s been tossed out of the Kardashians’ inner circle. Jordyn was living in Kylie’s guesthouse when news of the scandal broke last week. Now, she’s reportedly moved back in with her mother. “Jordyn was insecure and always known as [Kylie Jenner’s] BFF, so once she started getting attention on her own as her own person from Tristan, she didn’t know how to handle it,” an insider tells Us Weekly . “Jordyn was on a little bit of a high, but now is at her lowest point. It’s really sad for Kylie because Jordyn was Kylie’s only real friend and she feels lost. “The cameras have been rolling through all of this and so much of the Kardashians’ stuff is planned and set up, but this Jordyn stuff is real.” But if Jordyn is hoping for sympathy from Khloe, she’s got another thing coming. “Khloé feels so betrayed,” another insider tells Us. “This time it hurts even more because the person who it was with is someone who knows very much what Khloé has gone through in the past year. Jordyn is like part of the family. “She was very much aware how devastated Khloe was by Tristan’s previous betrayal,” the source adds. “Jordyn knew so much that it is hard for those immediately around them to wrap their minds around how she could do it.” It sounds like Woods won’t be making any appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians anytime soon. The latest performance on Ansari’s Road to Nowhere tour drew the likes of Mindy Kaling, who went as far as posting a photo of her ticket stub on Instagram, with the caption “Funniest s**t ever.” Unsurprisingly, a large number of both Kaling’s fans and critics decided to chime in on her continued support for Ansari throughout the backlash he’s faces following sexual assault accusations. Kaling spent the rest of the night doubling down on her support for Ansari and her decision to attend his stand-up show. “I’m a feminist and standing up for women is very important to me,” she said in response to one of the comments. “I’m not rehabbing him Bc I think he did a fine job doing it himself.” She also made a point of deleting certain comments she took offense to, including one which compared Ansari to R. Kelly: “I think comparing Aziz to R. Kelly was offensive and degrading to the victims of R. Kelly, so yeah, I deleted it,” the actress wrote, according to reports from BuzzFeed . This all stems from a story back in 2018, when Ansari was the subject of an article written by a woman he allegedly pressured into having sex with him. The woman claimed that Ansari failed to acknowledge both “verbal and non-verbal cues” that indicated she was not comfortable being intimate with him. But unlike most cut-and-dry stories, Ansari’s case had many readers scratching their heads on what is and isn’t consent, along with what is and isn’t sexual assault. Earlier this month, the comedian addressed the incident for the first time since releasing his initial statement once the allegations were published. He repeatedly apologized and signaled that he had spent a long time reflecting on his behavior. “There were times I felt really upset and humiliated and embarrassed, and ultimately I just felt terrible this person felt this way,” Aziz reportedly told a crowd in New York City. “I definitely don’t separate the art from the artist,” Kaling wrote to someone else in another response . “His experience has shaped his art and he talked about [it] eloquently. According to TMZ , people on the Empire set believe that Jussie used a hate crime attack on Lee Daniels’ cousin as source material for his alleged attack. Alexander initially staged his dad’s April 2018 death to appear as a suicide, telling Durham County police that he had found his dad unresponsive in their basement with a dog leash wrapped three times around his neck and the dog still attached. Dad was found dead with a dog leash on his neck. When police arrived at their North Carolina home, they found William in a chair unresponsive, without a leash around his neck. They also found 25 pieces of gold valued around $463,000 in his office. Bishop was rushed to the hospital and where he died three days later of stargulation. Forensic specialist went to the teens school after the death and searched his email and Iphone. They found some pretty suspicious info, including how to calculate the value of an estate and how to transfer bank accounts. On Friday, Alexander was arrested for the murder of his father. He will be tried as an adult.
