If you're a Teen Mom 2 fan, then you're probably already aware that David Eason and Jenelle Evans don't have the most stable relationship. In fact, in the past six months alone, Jenelle accused David of assault; David received a visit from the Secret Service for issuing violent threats online, and as always, the Department of Child and Family Services took a keen interest in the Easons and their ability to raise children. The current season of TM2 has shown us that David recently became a major threat to Jenelle's career by menacing crew members while she's trying to film. ( Eason was fired from the show last year after launching a bigoted tirade against fans on social media.) So it didn't come as much of a surprise when Jenelle announced that she's single over the weekend. Of course, we've been down this road before, and these two always reconcile, usually within a day or two. This time, however, those who are rooting for Jenelle to stick to her guns and kick David to the curb have discovered some encouraging news on Eason's Facebook page. Take a look: 1. We’re not just talking about this spontaneous marriage, though it is sudden and unexpected. Just last week, Miranda got into an altercation at a steakhouse . Miranda and her dining companion were confronted by an older couple, and ended with Miranda’s salad on another woman’s head. While the scuffle gave us a rare opportunity to write tossed salad in a headline, it may be cause for concern. That doesn’t sound like the behavior of a healthy, balanced woman to us. It ties into a bit of character development that Miranda has undergone in recent years. Remember back when Blake was the drinker and troublemaker and Miranda was his long-suffering wife? Okay, we’re exaggerating, but only a little bit. These days, she seems to be the one making outrageous tabloid headlines, while Blake has settled down with Gwen. Also, Miranda came right out and admitted that she’s a bit of a homewrecker after hooking up with the still-married Evan Felker. Is the downfall of the Felker marriage her fault? Of course not. The Girls Trip actress might already have a leg-up in the music game–she was up for a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for her The Last Black Unicorn audiobook last year. She also sings a song in her upcoming film Lego Movie 2 , where she plays Queen Watevra Wa’Nab. Although Haddish ended up losing her shot at a Grammy to former President Jimmy Carter for his audiobook, she said that the Grammy nomination gave her the confidence she needed in order to give singing a serious shot. “It really inspired me. Like, ‘Wow if I can [get] nominated for a Grammy for telling my truth, what can I get if I really just apply myself and my vocal skills?’” she explained. As far as titles go, the comedian is thinking of going with something that pays tribute to her current stand up tour, She Ready . She revealed, “It will probably be the ‘She Ready’ album or ‘The She Ready Experience’ or ‘The We Ready Album.’” When it comes to features, the up-and-coming singer ahas hopes of Cardi B being featured on her new album. “I’m trying to get her on a couple of tracks,” she said before doing an impression of the rapper’s famous sound effects. “I’m like ‘She ready, brrrrrrr!” Haddish assures both herself and those who might listen to the album that she’s just determined to have a good time. “I’m going to see what happens. Lamar Alexander actually becomes a law. Alexander laid out his vision in a speech earlier this month, looking to completely overhaul the system for financial aid and student loan repayments. A move that could ultimately affect up to 40 million borrowers, who owe a collective $1.5 trillion in outstanding student loan debt. Alexander proposed a repayment plan based on a borrower’s income. It would never require the borrower to make payments of more than 10 percent on their income, he said.

Anthony Charles, 24, and co-defendant William McNeil, who previously pleaded guilty, trafficked the teen girl over the course of 11 months beginning in June 2015, authorities said. According to The NY Post, Charles lured a Manhattan sixth-grader with the promise of a babysitting gig on facebook then sexually assaulting her and forced her into prostitution. When the girl arrived at McNeil’s Brooklyn apartment for the position, the defendants threatened her at gunpoint, sexually assaulted her, then pimped her out. The two grown men forced the teen to perform sex acts in cars and hotels, using flattery and violence to keep her in line. She was raped four to seven times a day, and when her family and friends found out, they ostracized her. The victim choked up as she read an emotional statement in Manhattan Supreme Court on Friday. “They took away my virginity, my dignity, my freedom, my happiness and most importantly, my childhood,” she read from a piece of paper she clutched in her hands. “I never understood how people can hear you cry for help and not do anything.” “What happen to me broke me forever,” she said, her voice cracking. “I felt disgusting. I felt dirty all the time. It was all types of men even doctors and teachers.” The victim says she grew so depressed that she considered suicide. Charles, who was convicted at trial of sex-trafficking and promoting prostitution, mumbled a half-hearted apology before Justice Gilbert Hong handed down his sentence. The judge said Charles faced a maximum of more than 50 years. McNeil, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of sex-trafficking as part of a plea deal and was sentenced to five years in prison. “The horrific violence and coercion committed against this 13-year-old child was not enough to break her spirit,” said Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance Jr. in a statement. “She took the stand to testify in an act of extreme courage, bravely articulating the months of torture she endured at the hands of these heartless traffickers. The story of this profoundly courageous survivor shows us that in the safest big city in America, child sex trafficking still persists,” Vance said. Good riddance!

Police were called to a Home Depot in Wichita, Kansas after it was believed that a man was making a bomb threat while shopping in the home improvement store. The 911 audio was recently released by Sedgwick County Communications, in which the caller tells the operator that someone may have made a bomb threat, according to reports from KWCH . “We just had a customer here made what may have been a bomb threat,” the caller told the police. “He said, uh, somebody told me there’s a bomb in here and you need to leave the building. He said it three times.” Staff was alerted to the possible “bomb threat” after a person overheard the man talking in the store’s restroom. However, authorities learned later that the threat was actually just a euphemism used by a man who reeeeally had to use the bathroom. “You all need to get out of here because I’m fixin’ to blow it up,” is what the man allegedly said that tipped off fellow consumers. A fellow witness to the bomb about to be dropped in the bathroom believed it to be a joke and laughed at the man, while police were able to track the man down and clear up the serious misunderstanding. Apparently, this isn’t the first time an incident like has occurred before. Back in November, one man in New Orleans was arrested after he allegedly threatened to blow up Willie’s Chicken Shack, but claimed that he actually said he was going “blow the bathroom up” in the same way the Home Depot customer meant. Arthur Posey, the man in question, faced two charges of communicating false information of planned arson.
Colin Kaepernick has earned both praise and outrage for his bold, silent protest against the killing of unarmed black men. His protest also ended his NFL career. He has been a free agent since 2016. He sued the NFL for conspiring to keep him off of the field. And now that lawsuit has been settled. Attorneys Mark Geragos and Ben Meiselas released a joint statement on Friday, February 15. “For the past several months, counsel for Mr. Kaepernick and [Carolina Panthers safety Eric Reid],” the statement begins. It continues: “have engaged in an ongoing dialogue with representatives of the NFL.” “As a result of those discussions,” the statement reads. “The parties have decided to resolve the pending grievances.” “The resolution of this matter is subject to a confidentiality agreement,” the statement concludes. “So there will be no further comment by any party.” This settlement is a long time coming. As you may recall, Kaepernick filed a grievance agains tthe NFL and its owners in late 2017. He accused them of colluding to keep him off of the field. Kaepernick became “controversial” in 2016 for peacefully kneeling during the anthem as a form of silent protest. But though he was protesting the murders of unarmed black men by police, who then go unpunished, some political forces made him a target. They present him and his protest as anti-American. He accuses the NFL of responding to this controversy by conspiring to sabotage his career. Eric Reid was the first to join Kaepernick’s silent protest. The NFL Player’s Association filed a similar grievance against the NFL in 2018 on Reid’s behalf. “We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests,” the NFLPA said Friday in a statement to ESPN. The NFLPA “participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial.” They did all of this “in pursuit of both truth and justice for what we believe the NFL and its clubs did to them.” “We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract,” the statement concludes. “And we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.” Fortunately, Colin Kaepernick’s misfortunes were alleyed. Nike decided to go all in, placing Kaepernick front and center on their campaign in 2018. The controversial move had avowed racists throwing away or destroying their Nike shoes. Just days ago, a store that had removed all Nike products from its shelves closed because of sales losses. Womp womp. Nike, on the other hand, saw massive sales in 2018. Their move not only supported Kaepernick when he needed it, but signaled something very affirming. Ultimately, being progressive was the more profitable move than capitulating to racists. That should be encouragement for all of us. Kaepernick has been a controversial figure for multiple reasons. To racists and others in Donald Trump’s base, he was a target because he’s a black man taking a stand for what he believes in. It’s interesting to note that the people who complain about louder, less convenient protests tend to say “protest like Dr. King would!” Their attempt to weaponize Dr. Martin Luther King is clearly empty words, since Kaepernick’s protest is as silent and peaceful as a living human can be. On the Left, Kaepernick was controversial because he did not vote in the 2016 election. Many find it difficult to imagine how someone could risk (and lose) his career for a political cause, yet refuse to do his civic duty and vote for a better world. Ultimately, though, Kaepernick is a politically significant and widely loved figure. And no, it’s not just because he’s really, really, ridiculously good-looking. It’s also not just because of his skill on the field. Kaepernick and Reid took a stand against white supremacy, against Trump, and against the NFL, which has been characterized as one of the world’s most predatory businesses. It is widely assumed that Kaepernick and Reid have made a substantial amount of money in this secret settlement. If so, good for them. However, it is unlikely that we will ever see confirmation of how much of a payout they received.
