Those artists have steam-pressed the local slang and accent into the fabric of Black American colloquialism dozens of times since. That said, there are still people who have no idea what some of the most common words in popular rap music means. People like the cast of Step Up: Highwater The YouTube show was filmed right in the heart of ATL and when the cast was tested on their knowledge of ATL slanguage, well, you’ll see when you press play below. Source: Joshua Lott / Getty South Carolina Man Fakes His Own Kidnapping To Black His Mother For Some Spending Money According to the AJC , a South Carolina man is accused of blackmailing his own mother after he led her to believe he would be killed if she didn’t pay $130. Emmanuel Franklin, 19, of Sumter was arrested and charged with blackmail. Franklin’s mother told authorities that she received a call from her son and an unknown man from a private number earlier that week telling her that her son would be killed by kidnappers if she did not put $130 money into a mail box at a nearby address. Franklin reportedly later told officers he made up the story to get $130 from his mother, so police officers eventually arrested Emmanuel Franklin for an extortion charge.

He also revealed that he spends roughly over $300,000 a month on clothing alone. The rap-star explained, “I be buying my little girl 10, 20 pairs of Chanel and she ain’t nothing but nine years old. She got more bags than grown ladies. No cap.” Future later added, “I shop every day. I probably spend two to three hundred thousand dollars on clothes a month. It’s crazy — I gotta stop.” Future took the official crown for the most money spent on the show, dropping $40,000 on Gucci slippers ($890), Givenchy socks ($160) and Buscemi sneakers ($550) for himself all while copping Chanel rope sandals ($1,110), Balenciaga knit sneakers ($770) and Prada ankle boots ($990) for his only daughter, Londyn.
John Legend joins The Voice for the sixteenth season as a coach AND he’s already off to somewhat of a rocky start. While Legend has been a guest and a mentor on the show multiple times, it’s now his turn to decide who will be the perfect mentor for #TeamJL. And his pick… Kanye West! I mean, it’s not shocking that Legend would think of West. They are pretty good pals, despite their political differences, and have been friends for years. His friendship with West even helped land him a record deal with Columbia Records back in 2004. So, yeah, the two have some history. But, we all know their wives, Kim Kardashian and Chrissy Teigen’s friendship might be even closer… The foursome is often spotted hanging out together and even went on a couple’s vacation to San Francisco recently. Also, the fact that West and Legend have recorded together in the past makes him an eligible candidate. However, according to Radar Online, when the three other returning coaches, which include Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine heard about this they quickly shared their concerns with the “higher-ups” of the show. An insider shared, “Kanye has just caused too many problems in his personal life and endeavors lately and they just feel that it would be best if him and Kim stayed away from the show for John’s first season.” Guess that means Kim can’t hang with bestie Chrissy backstage. “John has been bringing Chrissy to set and everyone gets along with the both of them just fine. He has a big head and he is definitely trying to win, but they are all in it to win it,” a source tells Radar. “Everyone thinks he just needs to calm down and relax because he is getting himself all psyched out over this. It is really just the luck of the draw as to who hits the buzzer first for the person that is meant to win.” Hmm, tell that to Adam and Blake who are constantly in a ‘friendly’ competition with one another throughout the whole show. The singer told Hollywood Reporter that he is “thrilled to join the coaches of The Voice ” and that he is excited to “discover talented singers and help them make the most of their gift.” And with or without the Wests, John will get to do just that. Fast forward to 2019 and Owens has been showered with employment opportunity and applause for the classy way that he handled his very public shaming. Last night Owens attended the SAG awards where he received more applause and ample opportunity to verbally extend his middle finger to those who thought him the butt of their jokes. The Bravo host/exec had a beautiful baby shower at The Palm Beverly Hills that brought out housewives from EVERY franchise; Beverly Hills, Orange County, Dallas, Potomac, Atlanta, New York, and New Jersey. The bash which was organized and hosted by OGs Kyle Richards (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Vicki Gunvalson (Real Housewives of Orange County), Ramona Singer (Real Housewives of New York City), NeNe Leakes (Real Housewives of Atlanta), and Teresa Giudice (Real Housewives of New Jersey) included a “A Star Is Born” theme. The color scheme was white and baby blue with gold accents and according to PEOPLE guests dined on Chinese chicken and lobster cobb salads, salmon with mango salsa, filet mignon, chicken paillard, grilled asparagus, fried potatoes, spinach and grilled polenta cakes with key lime pie, crème brûlée and chocolate chip cookies for dessert. The mother of the child, Jenesis Sanchez, was expected to give birth sometime this week; She was only a couple months pregnant with Gekyume when the rapper was killed on June 18. XXX’s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, posted the news to her Instagram story last night. “Yume has finally arrived,” she wrote, paired with a baby emoji. “Gekyume’s name is derived from a word X created prior to his passing, which means “a different state” or “next” universe of thought,” the family revealed in a statement. “XXXTentacion specifically chose this name for his first-born son; his family is honored to fulfill his wish and shower baby Gekyume with love.” Congrats to the fam on their new addition.

Source: The Washington Post / Getty Trump Fires All Undocumented Workers From Golf Club According to the Washington Post , Trump reportedly fired a large group Latin American workers at Trump National Golf Club in Westchester County, N.Y. because they are undocumented immigrants. On Jan. 18 employees were allegedly “brought in one-by-one to speak with a human resources representative and were fired from their jobs.” These people were described as being “longtime members of the golf club’s staff, having won employee of the month awards and having a set of keys to Eric Trump’s vacation home.” Trump reportedly kept that same energy in regards to his feelings on immigrant works, and go rid of employees that working for him for 10+ years. Gabriel Sedano, one of the employees who was fired, had been working at the club since 2005. “I told them they needed to consider us. I had worked almost 15 years for them in this club, and I’d given the best of myself to this job,” he continued. “I’d never done anything wrong, only work and work. They said they didn’t have any comments to make.” During the series of terminations, employees were informed that the company had audited their immigration paperwork, documentation they had provided years earlier. After it was discovered that their paperwork was falsified, the representative said, “Unfortunately, this means the club must end its employment relationship with you today.”
