Sadly, the answer is almost ALWAYS a resounding “no”, many times these decisions are made without the input of the potentially offended party. That seems to be what happened at the Albuquerque Journal when the green-lit the following political cartoon: DACA, Dreamers, Illegal, Immigration, Trump, Delonas, Sean, Cartoon, pic.twitter.com/X4NrNTeBLR — sean delonas (@seandelonas) February 4, 2018 New Mexico is a state full of latinx and hispanic people and a great deal of them were deeply offended at the depiction of the DREAMERS as MS-13 gang members who are coming to pillage the country. In fact, 50 people showed up outside of the newspaper’s offices to protest. That lead to this according to ABQJournal : Journal Editor Karen Moses issued an apology Thursday morning and later said in an interview that there will be more scrutiny of editorial cartoons in the future. “Looking back, we erred, and it should not have appeared in the Albuquerque Journal,” Moses said of the syndicated cartoon. SMH.
Freeky Zekey Says Booking Dispute Was A Misunderstanding; Says He Respects Women “Dip Set’s” Freeky Zekey has hit back at a nonprofit head’s claims that he defrauded her for an appearance fee at her charity gala and then threatened her mother for the rest of the dough. Freeky Zekey said the fallout from his appearance at the “Sisters In Charge” masquerade gala last year had been a misunderstanding and said his accuser had been less than professional in her dealings with him. Earlier this week, we revealed Tamara Charles’ claims that Freeky Zekey reneged on their verbal agreement for him to Zeke to co-host her “Sisters In Charge” gala Oct. 14 and perform. Charles said she sent Zekey a $1,600 deposit to secure the deal. But instead, Charles said Zekey arrived 15 minutes before the event ended, underdressed and seemingly intoxicated. She said he hyped the crowd for a few minutes before taking pictures and speaking to “Love & Hip Hop’s” Juju, who was also a special guest. Charles said he still demanded the rest of his booking fee and threatened her and her mother until they came up with the rest. Charles also said Freeky Zekey stole her phone out of her hand, and when she got it back weeks later, it had been reset. But Zekey – whose real name is Ezekiel Giles – wants to tell his side of the story: According to his rep, Zeke acknowledged that he was late to the gala, but was under the impression that the night ended at 1 a.m., not 11 p.m. He said that most artists do not arrive at the beginning of an event, and once he got there was another performer on stage, so he waited his turn. Zekey contends that he got on stage, performed and also made a speech about the importance of domestic violence prevention. He said he asked Charles for the rest of his money – another $1,600 – but Charles said to wait until the end of the night. Zekey said it’s customary to get paid before the artist takes the stage. He said he asked her again a short time later, and she asked him to go outside with her, his rep said. He said Charles handed him an envelope, but it was less than the $1,600. He said by that time, her friends and family came outside, and her mother volunteered to give him the remaining balance. He then followed the mom in his car to a house and then to an ATM. When the mom gave him the additional money, he got on his knees and thanked her. Freeky’s rep showed BOSSIP video and photos of the rapper/hype man performing at the gala – proof that Zekey said he provided to Pay Pal, which is why he was able to keep the initial deposit. He said Charles disputed his fee with Pay Pal some two months after the event. The rapper also denied snatching Charles’ phone. He said her phone was among several phones that were on a table, and he believed it was his. His rep said he mailed the phone back to their mutual friend the following day. “Freekey Zekey has a deep respect for women, having close relationships with his fiance, aunts, nieces, etc…And he finds these accusations deeply upsetting,” his rep told BOSSIP in a statement. “He denies her accusations wholeheartedly.”
Way back in 2015, Teen Mom stars Leah Messer and Jeremy Calvert got divorced . Fortunately, it seems that in the years since, they’ve been able to work out an amicable arrangement that works for both of them. By which we mean, not only are they co-parents, they’ve also been friends with benefits for quite some time. Or at least that’s what Leah allegedly said during her recent appearance on co-star Kailyn Lowry’s podcast. The episode hasn’t been released to the public yet, but a source who was on hand for the taping has already spilled some details about Leah’s comments regarding her ex: “She revealed she and Jeremy have been hooking up, and that it is not going to stop anytime soon,” the insider tells Radar Online. When Kailyn expressed concern, Leah reportedly put her mind at ease: “She says that they are just having fun and she’s got it all under control,” says the insider. Rumors of Leah and Jeremy getting back together have been circulating for months, but this is the first time that either of them has publicly admitted to being more than friends. Of course, from the sound of Leah’s comments, it doesn’t seem that she and Jeremy will be embarking on a relationship anytime soon. They seem to be sticking with a “no strings attached” arrangement, which is fine as both of them are single these days. In fact, as far as we know, Leah hasn’t been in a serious relationship in quite some time. Jeremy, on the other hand, broke up with Brooke Wehr for the 47th time back in September and has been quite busy in the months since. In November, he announced that he had broken up with a girlfriend that we weren’t even aware o f! (Pro tip: If you never went public with your relationship, you don’t have to publicly announce your breakup.) So Leah and Jeremy are both free to mingle as they see fit. Of course, Leah seems to get attached easily, and when there’s a kid involved, there’s always the potential that things could get very messy. Essentially, the Duggars are famous for two things – being very fertile and being very religious. Just kidding, Duggars! Anyway, it seems Jill Duggar is proving to be an unexpected rebel in more ways than one. Not only has she yet to sire an entire baseball team’s worth of children (complete with full pitching staff and designated hitters), but fans think she might be turning her back on her faith. In a recent Instagram post, Jill revealed that she’s currently reading a book with the rather ambitious title of The Story of Reality . “Wow! I’m not even finished with this book yet and it’s so good! Just read chapters 13-15 today. If you’ve ever wondered #whydoesgodallowsuffering or you’ve stopped believing in God then you’ve gotta read this book!” Jill wrote. “I could never give up on God, our father,” one user wrote, apparently under the impression that Jill was questioning her faith. “He is the reason we are all here, on the earth he made. You just need to remember to believe in him.” At one point a user who identified herself as an atheist congratulated Jill on opening herself up to new ideas. Needless to say, the situation threw some of Jill’s more pious followers for a loop. “This is a Christian book and how everything in the world ties in with God. People are making ignorant assumptions and haven’t even bothered to learn what this book is about,” one user argued. Indeed, according to a description on the book’s Amazon page, The Story of Reality makes an argument for “Christianity as a true story of how the world began.” So relax, folks – it appears that Jill has no intention of deviating from the belief system she was raised with. But that’s not stopping the debate from raging on Jill’s Instagram page. For some of her followers, the most interesting part of Jill’s latest post has nothing to do with her beliefs, and everything to do with to do the most compelling word in the book’s title – reality. When Derick Dillard attacked Jazz Jennings on Twitter, he launched his tirade by accusing the teen of starring in “a reality show that promotes an unreality.” Derick was fired by TLC for his harassment, and some former fans couldn’t resist the opportunity to remind Jill of her family’s latest scandal: “The Reality is that your homophobic husband got fired from the show! Charlie Sheen has been accused of just about every type of sordid behavior imaginable over the course of his 52 years as a tiger-blood guzzling warlock from Mars. But before today, the Sheenius had never been publicly accused of taking a human life. Sadly, the actor/human chemistry experiment will now be forced to cross that item off his resumé (or bucket list – this is Charlie Sheen we’re talking about) thanks to a mind-blowing new interview with his former friend, baseball legend Lenny Dykstra. The notorious bad boys were BFFs for more than 20 years. They first hung out together in 1993, partying in exactly they way you would expect from guys nicknamed Chuckles and Nails, respectively. According to Dykstra, he stopped by Sheen’s house, and the two of them proceeded to get “hammered” and bond over automatic weapons and $3,000 bottles of wine. Several sh-tty years later, as Kenny Powers would say, Dykstra has done hard time and is no longer on speaking terms with Sheen. Dykstra shared all of these details and revealed exactly why he chose to end his relationship with Sheen in a stunningly candid conversation with The Hollywood Reporter . After retiring from baseball, Dykstra embarked on a number of sketchy business ventures, amassing more than $58 million and losing it all shortly thereafter. In 2011, after being charged with indecent exposure, drug possession, grand theft auto, identity theft and filing false financial statements, Dykstra was sentenced to three years in prison. He claims that in the months before his sentence began, he became a sort of personal assistant to Sheen, arranging deals and offering advice that the troubled star rarely took. Dykstra says he attempted to convince Sheen to come forward with his HIV diagnosis more than a year before the actor revealed his illness publicly. The Philadelphia Phillies icon adds that these days, Sheen is living a tortured existence – alienated from most of his inner circle and facing a tax fraud investigation that might eventually land him behind bars. Dykstra reveals to THR that he first realized how far Sheen had fallen when witnessing the near-fatal drug binge that coincided with Sheen’s famous “meltdown” a few years back. Dykstra says of the famous 2011 interview in which Sheen introduced “winning” to the pop culture lexicon: “When [the OxyContin pills] are at their peak, it’s a euphoria, where you’re smart and you’re creative and you’re quick and you’re invincible.” Dykstra says he last saw Sheen in 2014 and found him to be a shell of his former self. “It was right out of a mystery spy thriller, with a sliding bookcase,” he says. “I walked in and Charlie was standing there with a glass dick — a crack pipe — in one hand and his phone in the other.” “I took one look around, there’s all this stuff, cool paintings and Babe Ruth’s ring, and I said, ‘Charlie, I have to admit, if you’re going to smoke crack, this has got to be the best crack den on the planet!’ That broke the ice.” But the most shocking revelation has to do with Sheen’s former friend and de facto assistant, Rick Calamoro, who was found dead of an apparent accidental overdose in 2012. Lenny says this was no accident. Dykstra claims that after Calamaro made his way into Sheen’s social circle, many began to suspect that he had done so with plans to write a tell-all book about the actor: “Before I went [to jail], I said, ‘Dude, this guy, he is writing a f-cking book, you got to fire him,'” Dykstra recalls. After he was released from jail, Dykstra says he confronted Sheen about Calamaro’s death: “What the fuck happened to Calamaro?” Dykstra remembers asking. “He said, ‘You mean Dead Rick? What f-cking happened is the motherf-cker tried to blackmail me just like you said … wanted $5 million.” “‘I had him fucking iced.’ He said he had a hot dose put in there.” Dykstra says “hot dose” is slang for an intentionally lethal dose of an intravenous drug that can be used to murder a user without suspicion. Interestingly, Dykstra says he’s come to terms with Sheen’s alleged murder, but remains distraught over other accusations against him. Charges that Sheen assaulted his former fiancée Brett Rossi are on a different plane, according to the former baseball star. “Killing the guy that fucking tried to extort him: That’s his business,” he says, but what Rossi alleges happened to her is too much for him. “Men, they get in rages. But no pummeling.” THR also spoke with Rossi, who details her allegedly abusive relationship with Sheen, and says she believes her ex to be capable of murder. Not surprisingly, Sheen could not be reached for comment, but we’re guessing he would’ve muttered something about “Adonis DNA.”
