Jeronimo Yanez Goes On Trial For Philando Castile Shooting The trial for the officer who killed Philando Castile in July 2016 is beginning. As previously reported Minnesota Officer Jeronimo Yanez is facing a second-degree manslaughter charge and two charges of dangerous discharge of a firearm for endangering Castile’s girlfriend Diamond Reynolds and their child. According to The New York Daily News , jury selection starts Tuesday and is expected to last several days. Yanez is expected to testify that he was defending himself as he shot Castile while he reached for his I.D. There will also allegedly be two videos shown; one unreleased video that reportedly shows Castile telling Yanez about his firearm and saying he’s not reaching for the gun, and Diamond Reynolds’ Facebook Live stream. Both Keys and the movement of Indigenous Peoples fighting for their rights in Canada were honored with the 2017 Amnesty International Ambassador of Conscience Award this week at a ceremony in Montreal, Canada. The award is the organization’s highest honor for human rights work and this year marks the first time the award was given to a Canadian. “Amnesty International’s Ambassador of Conscience awardees this year stand in the tradition of past winners such as Vaclav Havel and Malala Yousafzai – people who have shown exceptional leadership and courage to champion human rights, often in the face of great difficulty,” said Salil Shetty, Secretary General of Amnesty International. Activists Delilah Saunders, Melanie Morrison, Melissa Mollen Dupuis and Widia Larivière accepted the award on behalf the movement of Indigenous Peoples. Kathy Griffin "Beheads" Donald Trump, Pisses Off Internet

Warning: There are three people involved in this story, and perpetually-parched celebrity photographer Tyler Shields might be the least obnoxious one. You may remember Shields from the time when he took lots photos of Lindsay Lohan seductively nibbling her fingers , back when that was a thing some people wanted to see. Chronicling the life of LiLo never helped Shields develop into a slightly less creepy Terry Richardson like it was supposed to, so these days he's changing strategies. Interestingly, he remains fixated on Cheeto-colored throwback celebs who wore out their welcomes well over a decade ago. And now, Shields has figured out a way to squeeze two carrot-hued relics into one desperate publicity stunt. Yes, if you've spent much time on social media today, then you probably caught wind of the controversy involving Kathy Griffin and a bloody, beheaded Trump dummy. If you haven 't been on Twitter in the past couple hours, we recommend you keep your distance, as the takes are more red hot than Jared Kushner's face when someone uses the phrase “back channel” in his presence. They're hotter than the incubation room where Steve Bannon stores the leathery eggs of his future progeny. They might even be hotter than the young, Lahren-esque communications director who will emerge out of nowhere once Kellyanne and Spicy go missing sometime next week. People are pissed, is what we're saying. And of course, no one is more pissed than noted famous name-haver and grown up kid from The Omen , Donald Trump, Jr. “Disgusting but not surprising. This is the left today. They consider this acceptable,” an irate DJTJ told the press today. Griffin is sticking to her guns, claiming that she does not condone violence, and is merely sticking it to the “Mocker-in-Chief” in the crass fashion he seems to prefer. “There was blood coming out of his eyes, blood coming out of his … wherever,” Griffin said, referencing last year's infamous Trump-Megyn Kelly feud . But some suspect that Kathy Griffin took the jokes just a little bit too far on her latest Trump criticism . WGN’s “Underground” Cancelled After Just 2 Seasons — John Legend Scrambles To Find A New Network

WGN Cancels “Underground” Bad news for fans of WGN’s breakout hit series, “Underground .” After becoming a fan favorite over j ust 2 action-packed seasons , WGN has pulled the plug on the show. Apparently, the decision is coming down from the network’s parent company, who’s looking to move away from big-budget scripted television and expand their audience in “another direction.” As Tribune Media President and CEO Peter Kern told Deadline : “Despite Underground being a terrific and important series, it no longer fits with our new direction and we have reached the difficult decision not to renew it for a third season. We are tremendously proud of this landmark series that captured the zeitgeist and made an impact on television in a way never before seen on the medium….It is our hope that this remarkable show finds another home and continues its stories of courage, determination and freedom.” Show star Jurnee Bell had this to say about the tough news: And Executive Producer John Legend made it clear that he’s searching for a new home for the show. So Sad: Family Pit Bull Injures Unattended Newborn In Bouncer To Death

Jesus take the wheel… “Family” Pit Bull Bites Newborn Baby’s Head, Killing Her A three week old baby has died from injuries she suffered from one of three of her families pit bull dogs according to a Yahoo News report . Susannah Jean Murray was left alone in her bounce for only a few minutes when one of the dogs started attacking her. All three pitbulls were alone with her in the room when “an adult” walked away from her according to the report. Police say the newborn suffered a bite to the skull that ultimately killed her. It was one of the dogs who was found with blood in its mouth who Michigan authorities say is responsible for the incident. The baby girl was was taken to a nearby hospital for surgery but it was too late. No one had been arrested in connection with the baby’s death.  Getty Images
