Man Not Charged After Threatening Black City Council President A raging racist has escaped charges after threatening a black LA City Council President reports LA Times . Wayne Splinder submitted a hate-filled card during a public meeting with a burning cross and racial slurs aimed at Herb Wesson. The Los Angeles County district attorney’s office said the card submitted by Encino attorney Wayne Spindler, which labeled City Council President Herb Wesson with a racial slur, was “deeply offensive, morally wrong and socially reprehensible,” according to a memo released Thursday. The card submitted by Spindler on May 11 showed the burning cross and a man hanging from a tree — images typically associated with the Ku Klux Klan — and appeared to depict a KKK figure holding a sign that stated, “Herb = [N-word].” Wesson, who is African American, was presiding over the day’s committee meeting held in Van Nuys. Two days later, officers arrested Spindler, 46, on suspicion of making threats against Wesson. Community leaders denounced the drawings as a hate crime. And the city’s lawyers obtained a restraining order barring Spindler from coming near Wesson’s home, vehicle or city office, but allowing him to speak at public meetings. Ex-Versace Employee Claims Stores Use Secret Code To Announce Black Customers If there was ever any evidence that respectability politics will not lead you to white heaven… Well-to-do black folks (and some of y’all who just spend money you ain’t got) have been lining Versace’s pockets with money for YEARS, but according to TMZ , the retail stores that peddle Gianni’s fine fabrics may not be so keen on us. A former employee reveals that when black customers walk into the store, the staff would use a secret code to announce his or her presence. The man worked in a Bay Area store, and in a lawsuit says a manager told him about a store code called “D410,” which was used to casually let co-workers know a black person was present — as in, we got a D410 in menswear. BTW … that’s the code for all black shirts in Versace stores … according to the suit. The employee says he shocked the manager by responding, “You know that I’m African-American?” After cracking the code, the employee says he was no longer given required breaks and was fired 2 weeks later. The reason for firing? He hadn’t “lived the luxury life”. Right. It comes as no surprise that Versace denies being bigots. Image via YouTube

A publicist for the Wham! frontman has confirmed that he “passed away peacefully”, in his sleep today at his Oxfordshire, England home. “It is with great sadness that we can confirm our beloved son, brother and friend George passed away peacefully at home over the Christmas period,” said the publicist.
