Toya sat down with Cosmopolitan to talk about her close bond with her daughter Reginae, and how much she feels the need to defend her on social media: Reginae and I are very close. I’m not only her mother, but her friend. When I first had Reginae, I had so much support from my family and of course her Dad, Wayne. The advice I would give to any parent is, always be open with your children. My daughter talks to me about everything and she is on the road to being a successful entrepreneur and businesswoman. We have been very blessed! I honestly don’t pay attention to the haters. UNLESS, someone says something about my daughter and then Mama Bear kicks in. I don’t care what people say about me, but kids are off limits. Social media is a blessing and a curse, but it is great for my businesses. And delves into how she has been able to press forward through the multiple deaths in her family this year. I stay in constant prayer. It hasn’t been easy. As a black female entrepreneur, I have to keep working hard and keep pushing. Plus, work keeps my mind off of anything I may have going on in my personal life. I know that God is always watching over my family and me. It’s great that she’s able to find some strength and support and make it through circumstances that would EASILY break many people. Security Guard Caught Masturbating On Chargers Sideline A security guard manning the sidelines during the Chargers vs. Raiders game on Sunday was caught on camera phone released some of his pent up frustrations — through his pants pocket, thankfully — just feet away from team cheerleaders. Of course, the video went viral shortly after it was uploaded, and according to TMZ , homie in question was quickly canned. The team hasn’t publicly identified the man getting to it in the video, but issued the following statement: “We are aware of the disturbing actions of an Elite security staff member at Sunday’s game. We apologize to any fans who may have witnessed the incident.” Just…nasty. This man needs to seek help.

Sevyn Streeter Sings National Anthem In “We Matter” Jersey Remember when Sevyn Streeter was barred from singing the National Anthem for the 76ers because she wore a Jersey that said “We Matter” in reference to BLM? Well, she finally got her chance to hit the hardwood and sing the anthem in the controversial jersey over the weekend. The 76ers apologized and rescheduled her performance and she was more than pleased with the outcome: “I’m really excited. I’m feeling great. I’m happy that we were able to turn an unfortunate situation into something positive. I’m singing the anthem tonight. I’m wearing my ‘We Matter’ jersey. Petition Circulating Social Media To Have R. Kelly Removed From Soulquarius People ain’t here for no R. Kelly in 2016. The accused underaged sex predator, professionally known as R. Kelly, has been booked to perform at what looks to be one helluva R&B festival just after Valentine’s Day 2017. The Soulquarius R&B Jam takes place in Orange County, California and features a gang of you favorite artists from a variety of eras. But people ain’t here for no R. Kelly in 2016. A Change.org petition has been drafted to get the accused pedo Pied Piper removed from the painted area: Hi All! The Observatory venue of Orange County released an awesome lineup for their SOULQUARIUS event February 18th, with the exception of R.Kelly. Despite an endless flood of abuse allegations and widespread knowledge of his notorious “romance” with the late singer Aaliyah, who was age 15 to his 27 years, Kelly has maintained a relatively successful career. It’s this sort of nonchalance and casual embrace of abusers that rests at the fulcrum of rape culture, violence against women, and in this case, misogynoir. 2017 is around the corner and many of us still have to look on in disgust as a proven predator, rapist, and serial abuser of young Black girls and women remains embraced in the world of music. Stop booking this man. Stop supporting this man. There’s great power in having a voice. Let’s send a message that the music is not “separate” and the abuse of girls and women is *never* okay, no matter who you are or how many timeless ballads you’ve contributed to the world.
