Officer Charged With Murder In Shooting Death Of Unarmed Black Man During Traffic Stop By now, you’ve likely seen the full graphic video turned in to South Carolina police just days after Officer Michael Slager shot and killed Walter Scott during a routine traffic stop. The video shows Slager not only shooting Scott in the back multiple times, but also planting evidence on his deceased body to justify the lies he told to justify his murder. Just hours after seeing the unarmed man being shot and killed while blatantly running for his life, North Charleston PD decided to arrest and charge one of their own for his actions. Via NBCnews : A police officer in North Charleston, South Carolina, was charged with murder Tuesday after a cell-phone video was released of him fatally shooting an apparently unarmed man in the back following a traffic stop Saturday. Michael Slager, 33, was arrested by the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and faces 30 years to life in prison or the death penalty, state officials said in a news release. In the video, which was obtained by The New York Times, Slager shoots at the suspect — later identified as 50-year-old Walter Scott — about eight times as he runs away in a vacant lot. The officer, who is white, said the suspect, who is black, took his Taser and that he feared for his life. The Justice Department is also reviewing the incident, which comes on the heels of other police-related shootings involving unarmed black men. Slager was arrested less than an hour after the video, taken by a bystander, was provided to city and police officials. At a Tuesday news conference, North Charleston Mayor Keith Summey said the decision to charge the officer came after viewing the footage. Good thing the bystander was there to capture what REALLY happened…this cop had lies on deck to tell about what Walter Scott did to “deserve” being shot in the back 8 times. SMH. Mathew Knowles In The Way Of Destiny’s Child Reunion Tour DC3’s performance during the Stellar Awards not only got fans nostalgic for the good old Destiny’s Child days, but the group members themselves. Not only are they eager to tour together again, but they’re even interested in doing a 10-year-anniversary album full of brand new tracks for their legion of fans. However…they’re all so fed up with Mathew Knowles that none of them want to give him a dime of money from the deal — a major complication since his name is irrevocably tied to the group. Via MailOnline : “Although Destiny’s Child is made up of the three ladies, Beyoncé’s father and former manager Mathew Knowles owns one-fourth of the group as well. Anytime they do anything under the name Destiny’s Child, he has involvement in it and money from it,” a source close to the group reveals to Daily Mail Online. None of the members of Destiny’s Child want any involvement with Mathew, who once managed each of their individual careers as well as the group. Kelly was first to fire him in 2009, Michelle followed in 2010 and Beyoncé finally nixed all dealings with her dad after accusations of stealing money from her in 2011. “That it was claimed Mathew stole money from Beyoncé and then he sued to prove that he didn’t was bad enough. But all of the extramarital affairs and children outside the marriage just made it so that Beyoncé doesn’t have anything to do with her dad at all,” the source explained. The trio’s unwillingness to deal with Mathew is why they keep putting off a Destiny’s Child reunion album and tour. Their 2005 Destiny Fulfilled tour grossed approximately $70.8 million in the U.S. alone and according to Billboard it was the highest-grossing tour for either a pop or R&B band since TLC’s FanMail Tour. Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle wanted to record a 10-year follow-up CD and launch a tour. They know both the album and tour could a huge seller and break tour records. “The problem is they can’t figure out how to nix Mathew from the deal. They all want more than anything to give the fans one last run of the group, especially since they all have their own individual success, but don’t want to deal with Mathew,” the source explained. It’s unlikely that Mathew would allow the women to cut any deals without him. Yeah, we guess not — not with all those fresh mouths to feed and his well-documented money troubles. However, we seriously doubt that Bey & the crew are going to let Mathew stand in between them and the money.

Student Suspended From University Of South Carolina Over Racist Snapchat Her parents must be so proud. Via WISTV reports: A student at the University of South Carolina has been suspended after a photo of the student who appeared to be writing a racial slur went viral Friday. The photo, which appears to be taken from Snapchat and posted on several social media sites, shows a list of reasons why “USC’s WiFi blows.” On the top of that list is the N-word. The University of South Carolina said it actually took place inside a study room. President Harris Pastides said the student was suspended Friday and a code of conduct investigation has begun. The course of action endorsed was also endorsed by the Board of Trustees, Pastides said. “The unfortunate and disappointing act of a student in a study room has challenged the Carolina community to reflect on our values and tell the world what we believe,” Pastides said in a statement. “Respect for all is at the heart of the Carolinian Creed, the code by which we agree to abide. Racist and uncivil rhetoric have no place at the University of South Carolina.” The student, who was not named, could also face expulsion. Following the incident the NAACP released the following statement: “A recent tweet that shows a student at the University of South Carolina listing the N-word as one of her grievances against the institution brings to mind a famous quote attributed to the French writer Alfonse Karr, “the more things change, the more they remain the same”. Such negative attitudes have existed since the first European explorers visited the land we now call America. It is disappointing but no longer shocking to see a college student following what appears to be a growing trend in our state and nation. Scenes such as this while captured in still shots from time to time through social media, sadly reflect what people of color often experience in many communities. In the midst of the positive portrayal of University of South Carolina students over the past several weeks, we once again face a stark reality: even at our highest points as a society there are those among us – including the young – who wish they were still in Dixie. This is why the NAACP cannot compromise, must not relent in its pursuit of dignity, justice and equality for all people in America.” The student shown in the photo has yet to say anything publicly about the incident.
