Mike Starr Remembered By Dr. Drew, Nikki Sixx, Steven Adler

‘Celebrity Rehab’ castmates Mackenzie Phillips and Lisa D’Amato also tweet about late ex-Alice in Chains bassist. By Ryan J. Downey Mike Starr in 1990 Photo: Steve Jennings/ Getty Images Mike Starr’s friends and fans have taken to Twitter to express their grief about the ex-Alice in Chains bassist’s death on Tuesday (March 8). “Devastating to hear of Mike Starr succumbing to his illness,” tweeted Dr. Drew Pinsky , who treated Starr on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” and the spin-off show “Sober House.” “So very sad. Our prayers are with his family.” Former Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler — another founding member of a hard-rock powerhouse whose career was sidelined by drug addiction — also hit Twitter: “R.I.P. Mike Starr!! Such a sad day! 🙁 :(” Adler is also a “Celebrity Rehab” alum, though the two men appeared on separate seasons. Starr would have turned 45 next month. “Drugs and alcohol aren’t a joke,” tweeted Velvet Revolver drummer Matt Sorum , who replaced Adler in GN’R. “Please take care of yourself and respect yourself. We lost Mike Starr today. Rest in Peace man.” Ex-Dream Theater drummer Mike Portnoy , who filled in with Avenged Sevenfold after they lost Jimmy “The Rev” Sullivan to an overdose, had this to say via Twitter: “RIP Mike Starr… I watched his struggle on Celebrity Rehab and had my fingers crossed for his recovery… this disease kills… sad stuff…” Starr was found dead in a Salt Lake City house on Tuesday. He played bass for Alice in Chains from their inception in the late ’80s until 1993, when he left the Seattle grunge stars while touring for their second album, Dirt. Alice in Chains have several songs dealing with addiction. “You can’t understand a user’s mind,” former singer Layne Staley sings on “Junkhead.” Staley died in 2002 after overdosing on a mixture of heroin and cocaine. Lil Wayne Recalls First Taste Of Freedom: Our Exclusive Interview Here!

‘To walk out of there that day with no handcuffs on,’ Wayne tells MTV News. ‘I was like wow, yeah, I’m gone.’ By Rebecca Thomas, with reporting by Sway Calloway Photo: MTV News On a frigid November morning, Lil Wayne walked out of New York’s Rikers Island last year a free man. And though there would be lavish homecoming parties to attend, a tour-finale concert in Las Vegas, reunions with family and even a marathon recording session in the offing, the New Orleans MC can still remember what struck him most in those first few moments. “Honestly, the first thing that I appreciated when I got out was not having to wear handcuffs,” Wayne told MTV News when we visited the Miami set of his upcoming “6 Foot 7 Foot” video . On the expansive jail facility where Wayne served out an eight-month sentence on an attempted gun possession charge, the Young Money boss discovered that while getting “special” treatment may seem to imply privileges, in fact, his celebrity status created some downsides. Having his wrists shackled as he moved through the prison’s various buildings became a weight, both physical and mental. “That was my first time walking out of there [without handcuffs], ’cause you know I always had to be transferred to one building from another to another just to do certain things, and they had so many special procedures with me,” explained Weezy, who was clad in a gray YMCMB sweatshirt and Chicago Bulls cap when MTV News’ Sway sat with him. “Things they had to do for protocol, so I always had to move here and move there, but everywhere I went I had to be handcuffed because it was this special protocol. “Other inmates didn’t have to be handcuffed when they [were guilty of] the same things,” he added, a look of melancholy flashing across his tattooed eyelids. “But it was this special protocol for me that they had to handcuff me.” Months into his sentence, Wayne called Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex and said apart from busying himself with the daily routine of incarceration — pawing through piles of mail, listening to sports radio — he was doing serious soul-searching. “Everybody says that you’re here for a reason, and I promise you, Flex, I try to find out that reason every day. I search for it. But I think when I get out, that’ll be the only time I’ll really know the answer.” On the dizzying “6 Foot,” the lead single from his eagerly awaited Tha Carter IV, Wayne cleverly boasts, “I got through that sentence like a subject and a predicate.” But he took a measured tone as he relived the pre-dawn hours of November 4. “To walk out of there that day with no handcuffs on, that was the first thing that caught my attention,” he said. “I was like wow, yeah, I’m gone.” Related Videos MTV First: Lil Wayne’s ‘6 Foot 7 Foot’ Related Artists Lil Wayne

Aubrey O’Day Gets Her Puppies All Wet

Here’s Aubrey O’day in some “photoshoot” for something very important called Twitter . I know, I know, but let her have this, for a nobody like Aubrey, having her pictures posted on her own Twitter page is a very big step in her modeling career. Good for you princess. Anyhow, she’s showing off her cute little puppies in some bikini shots…. I’m actually talking about her breasts this time, not those stupid purple dogs.

Lucy Pinder & Michelle Marsh Domestic Bliss

Here are Lucy Pinder and Michelle Marsh hanging out together in their sexy little undies, doing housework, brushing their teeth and getting wasted on wine in the kitchen. This is what I imagine goes on at Charlie Sheen’s place, without all the cleaning up and brushing their teeth. Lucky bastard. Anyhow, I love these kind of photo spreads, they’re so cheesy it actually makes them kind of hot. A hot chick vacuuming in her underwear? Come on, hot stuff.

Justin Bieber Turns 17, Asks Fans to Donate to Charity In His Honor

Getty Images Justin Bieber doesn't need any birthday gifts for his 17th birthday today, so he's asking his adoring fans to redirect their moolah to help an organization that could really benefit from a little extra cash. The Bieb has been tweeting up a storm today, asking followers to donate to the American Cancer Society in his honor. Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez (Getty) The instructions for donating on the Bieb's big day, as posted on his page today, are as follows: ” Fight cancer & donate $10 to ACS in honor of JB’s bday: text BDAY to 20222 .” Yesterday he asked fans to donate to mycharity:water, an organization that helps get clean water to families in need. He wrote on his page that he had already helped earn millions for the organization. “Thanks to all you Beliebers, we hit $7 million raised on mycharity: water today! #makeachange ” he wrote. So, if the Bieb isn't being showered with gifts from his tween fans, what is he doing on his special day? Well, he's definitely eating cake and hanging out with his grandparents! He tweeted yesterday: ” less than 24 hours until my BDAY!! Getting grandma's cake and figuring out the best way to use my bday…got some great ideas…so… ” We have a feeling he also might get a visit from his gal Selena Gomez, but he wouldn't dare post that tid-bit for his 7 million followers to read!
