The closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics featured a number of performances by English music stars, including the UK’s beloved fab five. It’s safe to say that One Direction has hit the big time. The popular boy band was one of several acts to perform in front of a live and television audience of millions last night, helping to close out the London Olympics with a rendition of “What Makes You Beautiful.” While being wheeled around on the flat bed of a truck because, hey, why not?!? Liam Hemsworth is set to marry Miley Cyrus. And maybe even have the singer’s baby . What, exactly has drawn the Australian actor to this young mega star? “She’s extremely happy and has a sense of humor about life,” Hemsworth tells InStyle . “Happy, positive, fun – those qualities are good in anyone.” Liam also says he adores Miley’s “Southern accent” and “the South in general. There’s a lot of deep-fried food, and the people really remind me of Australians – very laid back.” The couple is yet to set a date for its nuptials… but perhaps the ceremony will take place in New York. If only for the food options. “I love the New York-style thin crust,” Liam tells the magazine. “I don’t cook that much anymore, but I like doing stir-fry and pastas, or I’ll coat shrimp with shredded coconut and fry them in coconut oil.” [Photo: WENN.com]

While it isn’t exactly receiving the same attention as the Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes split, another famous couple has called it quits: Jamie Campbell Bower and Bonnie Wright are no longer engaged. The actor, 23, and the actress, 21, met on the set of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow s in 2010 and agreed to marry within five months of their introduction. “They have split but it is amicable,” an insider tells The Daily Mail , with Jamie – who also plays Caius in The Twilight Saga – admitting he is “heartbroken” by the development. Willow attended the ceremony with brother Jaden and did not win any trophies, but did she make an impression with the following track, which centers on her search for identity and her rally against critics.
