The woman even attempted to snatch a box from the mom too and, as you can imagine, that didn’t go over well at all. In the video below, the mother appears to be attempting to put the shopper in a headlock while simultaneously reaching to take back the boxes the crazy lady tried to snatch. Sadly, we don’t know how the tussle ended but we hope both of them took their behinds home afterward. Can A Black-Owned Business Market To All People?

Is a Black business obligated to always cater and market to a Black clientele? It’s an provocative question considering the current dust-up over global cosmetic company Black Opal’s new marketing campaign. As reported by Black Girl Long Hair: Black Opal, a well-established cosmetic line, found themselves in hot water yesterday when they responded to a series of Facebook comments regarding ads which seemed to distance them from their overwhelmingly black customer base. When Black Opal’s Twitter and Facebook followers saw the ads, they asked some valid questions. Most were black women who were under the impression that Black Opal was a brand geared toward black women or brown-skinned women in general… The company does assert emphatically that “our leadership has never issued a ‘non-inclusive’ statements” about its product offerings or sales objectives. To find out why that is, we spoke with iconic Black newspapers, magazines and radio station executives as well as major multicultural advertising agencies on the resounding importance of Black media, why advertisers must not ignore our market, and how you, the reader, can flex your spending power to empower your community… [ MadameNoire ] College Student Posts 5,000 Flyers Claiming Football Player Gave Her Chlamydia…Twice University of Michigan football player Jabrill Peppers is being slandered all over campus for being a “despicable piece of sh*t,” allegedly. Oprah Buys Stake In Weight Watchers For $43.2 Million

According to the Associated Press, the media maven recently purchased a 10 percent stake at Weight Watchers for approximately $43.2 million. The acquisition scored the businesswoman nearly 6.4 million shares of the company. As a result of the five-year partnership, Weight Watchers has earned the right to use Winfrey’s name, image, likeness and endorsement for the brand’s programs, products and services with her approval. Oprah has also received the right to use the Weight Watchers brand and logo for collaborative promotional efforts. [ MadameNoire ] Bobby Brown To Release ‘My Prerogative’ Memoir Detailing Bobbi Kristina’s Death Since the tragic death of Bobbi Kristina, Bobby Brown has only talked about his daughter in-depth once. Last month, Brown and his wife visited the daytime talk show The Real, where offered heartfelt words about Kristina and the guilt he felt about not being able to come to her rescue in time. Now, it has been recently reported and confirmed by Dey Street Books that Brown is penning a memoir, reasonably titled My Prerogative, as reported by US Weekly. Slated as a tell-all of his controversial life – including details of Kristina’s death, “the book, out June 2016, promises to “tell the full story of his life and set the record straight, particularly about his relationship with Whitney Houston,” a release from the publishing house explains. Brown had already arranged and signed off on the book deal prior to his daughter’s hospitalization… [ MadameNoire ] Butthurt Racists Threaten To #BoycottStarWars Over Black Lead Character The trailer for the final Star Wars: The Force Awakens film has a lot of racists (and sexists) upset because the cast is fronted by a Black guy, and a woman. You can’t please everybody. Once the trailer dropped, racist Twitter immediately went into defense mode. It’s been concluded that Star Wars director J.J. Abrams is suffering from self-hate because of the casting choices, and thus the #Boycottstarswars hashtag was born. This argument is of course so stupid that it doesn’t really even deserve the attention, but everyone gets fair billing here at Hip-Hop Wired — even the a**holes complaining about nonsense. Love Taps: The Danger Of Telling Little Girls “He Probably Just Likes You”

… Most of us have our own experiences with little boys who got physical, only to have their behavior rationalized and eventually dismissed as a school boy crush. But what does dismissing these types of actions for young boys mean? You’re sending the message to both boys and girls that it’s appropriate to express love and affection through violence. You’re telling young boys that this action doesn’t warrant punishment. What does ignoring or brushing off a traumatic experience do the psyche of a young girl? It could make her feel that her pain and emotions are valid or worthy of attention. That the best relationships come with some sort of physical violence. Instead of teaching young boys to either leave the girls alone or instruct them on ways to identify their feelings, violence is normalized from a early age… [ MadameNoire ] Less Frequent Pap Smear Recommendations Result In Drop In STI Screenings Similar to the guidelines recently introduced in the U.S., which advise women ages 21 to 30 to get Pap tests every three years instead of annually, Canada also announced recommendations for less frequent Pap exams. According to Glamour, a small study that was conducted on 200 Canadian women ages 19 to 25 after the guidelines were introduced revealed that some women became quite lackadaisical in regard to their sexual health. Apparently, many were relieved that they no longer had to undergo Pap testing annually, and the rate of testing decreased by 60 percent. Unfortunately, screenings for sexually transmitted diseases and infections also dropped by 50 percent as a result of the new recommendations… [ MadameNoire ] Black Captain America Is An Enemy Of Conservatives Says Fox News The new Captain America, known to Marvel comic book fans as Sam Wilson AKA The Falcon, has been rocking the red, white and blue since last year. However, it appears that Cap has angered the pundits of Fox News, who says the superhero is going after conservatives. The hosts of Fox & Friends actually spent part of their weekend broadcast to focus on the dangers of Captain America and his supposed fight against the Right. After co-host Tucker Carlson opened up the segment, he hands over the spotlight to Clayton Morris who then speaks on Marvel’s supposedly lagging comic sales and so-called “PR stunts.” Carlson chimes in and explains that Captain America’s new nemesis isn’t someone related to longtime enemy HYDRA, but the Sons Of The Serpent, a bunch of zealous, pro-Constitution radicals who are especially harsh on immigrants. Dr. Olivia Hooker, 100-Year-Old Survivor Of The “Black Wall Street” Massacre, Recounts Her Experience

Today, when Black people talk about economic disenfranchisement, the sentiment is often met with the argument that Blacks should pull themselves up by their bootstraps or stop “being lazy.” In reality though, there were many Blacks, after the abolition of slavery who did just that. And instead of being commended for their efforts, their homes and businesses were bought out or, in most cases, burned down. It happened to a Black enclave called Seneca Village in what is now Central Park. It certainly happened throughout the south. And perhaps, most famously, in Tulsa, Oklahoma in what was known as Black Wall Street, the wealthiest Black community in the United States at the time… Dr. Olivia Hooker was one of the survivors of this racially motivated attack, which she refuses to call a riot. Hooker, who is now 100, was just six-years-old when her community was burned down, destroyed forever. Earlier this year, during her 100th birthday celebration, Hooker spoke with the Wall Street Journal and recalled the day… [ MadameNoire ] Streaming Service Takes Effortless Dating To New Levels With “Netflix And Chill” Button Cuffing season is upon us, which means that “Netflix and Chill” dates will be in full effect in just a few short weeks.
