Nick Cannon Teases ‘Fantasy/Fairytale’ Project With Mariah Carey

‘We’re both kids at heart,’ he says of working with his superstar wife on a family-friendly animated project. By Jocelyn Vena Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon Photo: Getty Images Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon might soon be working together on a top-secret project. The proud parents of Dem Babies are hooking up for a spankin’-new endeavor that will focus on family. While the details of the venture are slim, Cannon shared that it will certainly pay homage to their year-old twins, Moroccan and Monroe . “Yeah we actually got some stuff in development that we’re working on, some animated stuff that her and I are putting together,” he told MTV News. “So you’ll definitely see her in that space too. Oh yeah, it’s just something that we both enjoy, and even more so than that, we’re both kids at heart. So we love those types of stories and fantasy/fairytale type of stuff.” Before Cannon explores fairytales with Carey, he serves as the executive producer on the forthcoming Nickelodeon flick, “Rags,” a hip take on Cinderella, complete with gender role reversals. It features Nick stars Keke Palmer, Max Schneider and Drake Bell. The network chairman explains that you should expect more and more family-friendly programming influenced by his own real-life role as dad. “I mean it’s one of those things where a lot of the stuff I’m going to be doing in the near future is going to be really family-driven just because of the fact being a father and wanting to be able to provide content for my kids,” he said. “So it works out really good. It makes you proud when you can have some work that your kids can go see.” In addition to “Rags” and his untitled project with Carey, Cannon just signed on to make his directorial debut with “School Dance,” which will follow in the vein of “Friday” and “House Party.” Variety reports it will revolve around a teen who wants to join the coolest dance clique in school, though he fears his stage fright will prevent him from passing initiation. While it seems that Cannon is focused on making projects his kids can watch, it might be a while before Roc and Roe check out “School Dance.” What kind of project would you like to see from Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon? Kristen Stewart Wants To Be A ‘Better Person’ Like Snow White

‘She’s truly bleeding for other people,’ ‘Snow White and the Hunstman’ star says on ‘MTV First’ about her character. By Jocelyn Vena, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Kristen Stewart on “MTV First: Snow White and the Huntsman” Photo: MTV News Kristen Stewart puts her inner action star on full display as the butt-kicking Snow White in “Snow White and the Huntsman.” But, it’s her vulnerability that Stewart related to most with the chainmail-wearing princess. “I think that I related to Snowy because … I love her,” she laughed to MTV News during “MTV First: Snow White and the Hunstman” on Tuesday night. “She feels such strong things and sort of can’t say exactly why she feels those things … and I can completely relate to that and I also can relate to feeling arrogant about it a little bit. Sort of like ‘It’s not about being who you are; it’s sort of not saying what everyone thinks I’m going to say because I’m uncomfortable’ … She’s like very instinctive and sort of awesome in that way.” Having already brought to life one literary heroine playing “Twilight” leading lady Bella Swan, she explained that she didn’t feel pressure to have to tackle Snow White, mostly because there was enough room for her to interrupt the character the way she felt was natural. “I mean she’s such a child in the beginning and has such a strong sense of self in a way that sort of isn’t normal, like supernaturally almost,” she said. “She’s got this connection to the Earth and to her people that makes her like so truly empathetic and not sympathetic. “She’s not putting herself in a position and going, ‘Oh, how horrible would that be for me.’ She’s truly bleeding for other people,” she said. “It’s a different feeling. It’s something I want to get to if I can be a better person. She’s a great girl. She’s a good person.” “Snow White and the Huntsman,” which also stars Charlize Theron (who plays the evil queen Ravenna ), Chris Hemsworth (The Huntsman) and Sam Claflin (the charming Prince William), hits theaters June 1. ‘Game Of Thrones’ Throws Out The Book

Latest episode features a massive departure from the source material. By Josh Wigler Alfie Allen in “Game of Thrones” Photo: HBO See that beautiful platinum-blond princess across the way? That’s Daenerys Targaryen. Stay away from her. Everyone she loves dies or gets taken away — not ideal for those of you who value your lives. Honestly, as much as I’m loving this season, I’m not happy with where “Game of Thrones” is taking Dany. I’m an avid fan of George R.R. Martin’s source material but not a stickler or purist who believes his novels must be adapted to the letter. Still, the liberties taken with Dany in Qarth, this week in particular, feel needless and damaging to who the character is. We’ll get deeper into that later in our recap. Keep reading for more updates from Westeros, most of them blood-soaked and reeking of death — with one lovely exception. Bye-Bye, Whiskers Northerners, man. Those guys have a hard time hanging onto their heads, don’t they? Ser Rodrick is the latest to die on the chopping block, at the hands of the traitorous (not to mention embarrassingly weak) Theon Greyjoy, now fancying himself Lord of Winterfell and Prince of the Iron Islands. As we say goodbye to the sweetest whiskers in Westeros, Rodrick’s final words ring true: Theon really is truly lost now. But where Theon falls, his performer rises: Actor Alfie Allen continues to kill it as Theon this season. If you think you’ve seen him at his lowest after this week — well, keep watching. Gone With the Reeds With Winterfell sacked, Bran and his companions are left powerless … well, not entirely powerless. The crafty Osha sleeps with Theon and manages to sneak Bran, Rickon, Hodor and the direwolves out of House Stark’s royal seat as a result. It’s cool to see this story moving so quickly, but still, where are Jojen and Meera Reed? The greenseer and his sister are huge parts of Bran’s story at this point in the books, but with their continued absence and Osha’s increasing prominence, I’m beginning to think they’re out of the picture for good. Casualty of adaptation, I suppose, but a change I’m sorry to see. Ra Ra Riot The North isn’t the only area of Westeros under fire. In King’s Landing, the wicked Joffrey’s awful behavior nearly costs him his life when he incites a bloody riot that turns the streets red. He barely escapes with his life — though he thankfully doesn’t evade a physical shaming at Tyrion’s hands once again — as does Sansa, who is nearly raped by a trio of rioters. Her life is saved by the Hound, who finally gets his long-awaited Terminator moment when he guts one of the would-be rapists and kills the other two in equally merciless fashion. One of the best characters in the books, Sandor Clegane hasn’t had much to do on the show so far. Perhaps this is the beginning of bold new things for the most feared burn victim in the Seven Kingdoms. Kissed by Fire It wasn’t all doom and gloom on “Thrones” this week. Finally, Jon Snow has met his match in Ygritte, a wilding warrior woman who is more than prepared to meet her maker should the worst come to pass. Of course, she also values her life greatly and isn’t afraid to make some moves on Jon to keep herself safe. That’s not great news for Jon; as a man of the Night’s Watch, Lord Snow isn’t allowed to take women into his bed. Then again, he’s a teenager and, well, you know — hormones and all that. Perhaps what happens north of the Wall stays north of the Wall? Where Are My Dragons? All the way east in Qarth, Dany is unsuccessful in recruiting the city’s leaders to her cause to sail to Westeros and claim the Iron Throne. Worse, when the khaleesi returns to her quarters after her failed attempt to secure a fleet, she finds many members of her khalasar — beloved handmaiden Irri included — dead, with her dragons missing to boot. None of this happens in the books. I’m guessing it’s a dramatic new way to get Dany to the House of the Undying, where she’ll experience her fair share of life-altering events. But it’s an unnecessary departure that, A) kills even more of the characters in Dany’s story despite their survival in the books, further complicating the butterfly effect the show will have to deal with as it gets deeper into Martin’s mythology, and B) cheapens Dany’s character by stealing her dragons right out from under her. Just as she says, Dany is a strong and fierce fighter fueled by fire and blood. She is the mother of dragons. There is no world in which Dany’s dragons are taken from her without her losing her life in the process. I don’t like what the show’s decision to steal Dany’s dragons away from her says about the character, but maybe that’s just me. What say you, readers of “Ice and Fire”: Are you as bothered by the new changes to Dany’s story as I am, or are you not sweating it? Hit us up in the comments below and let us know! Avengers Cookies: Your DIY Weekend Project

Just when you think you’ve had enough of this week’s Avengers hype , along comes perhaps the most irresistible bit of culture to date around the Marvel blockbuster: “Begin by outlining the cookie in your base color. (If you were starting with The Hulk, outline the entire shape in green. Color in your outline with green icing and cover the entire cookie. You can actually use a paintbrush to ‘paint’ your cookie.) Give the base a few minutes to dry and choose your next color. For The Hulk’s hair, outline his hairline in black and proceed to fill in with black icing. You can continue to draw features in and watch your character come to life.” Take that , Jollibee ! Find more kind of awesome Avengers party tips (DIY comic-book placemats!) here . The Man Who Makes Mulholland Dr. Funny

No, not the Cowboy (though OK, him, too): “[S]ave for a darkly funny murder that wouldn’t feel out of place in a seedier Coen Brothers’ film, most of the Mulholland Dr. ‘s humor comes from one character: Adam Kesher, a hotshot Hollywood director. Justin Theroux plays Kesher with a brash confidence that begs for comeuppance. This character allows for the film to take on the aforementioned negative aspects of Hollywood with a smile; while it pains the audience to see the innocent protagonist Betty Elms (Naomi Watts) put through the ringer, it’s far more delightful to watch the arrogant Kesher undergo similar abuse. Los Angeles remains a terrible place throughout the film, but when the less sympathetic Kesher takes the spotlight, Mulholland Dr. transforms from a dark drama into a dark comedy.” [ Splitsider ]

Is Rambo Coming Back? Sylvester Stallone Is Game

‘The magma of Rambo is coming to the surface,’ he tells MTV News. By Kara Warner, with reporting by Josh Horowitz Sylvester Stallone in “Rambo II” Photo: Michael Ochs Archives/ Getty Images Any day is a good day to chat with action hero Sylvester Stallone , particularly when the topic of conversation turns from the highly anticipated “Expendables” sequel to the always-anticipated “Rambo” sequels. The last time we checked in with Stallone about the future of his famed Vietnam vet John Rambo , it seemed as though there might not be any more story to tell and that the hero needed “to stop running” and take a rest . Thanks to our recent run-in with the main man at CinemaCon, it seems as if Rambo’s rest has come to an end and we might see him rise again. “There’s a volcanic eruption [brewing]. The magma of Rambo is coming to the surface,” Stallone said when asked about his thoughts on bringing the character back to the big screen. So is there another story to tell? “I know there is,” he said definitively. “It’s one thing where you lay down the final culmination of your life where you can articulate it, but also act on it where he realizes what his destiny really is,” Stallone said, speaking for the character and how he might take a moment to reflect on his life and realize his work isn’t finished. “It’s not to be a farmer, it’s not to be obscure; it’s to go out in a blaze of glory in a heroic fashion. But is he really doing it for himself or is he doing it because that’s just his id? That’s who he is. “I like the whole Mexican situation, what’s going on down there,” Stallone continued, hinting at the film’s possible setting and building the plot around the real-life conflict in Mexico. “So I’m working on a formula for it right now.” For breaking news, celebrity columns, humor and more — updated around the clock — visit MTVMoviesBlog.com .
